Chapter 2

Inko sat in the hospital room waiting for the latest news about her son. After her meeting with Principal Nezu, she had immediately gone back to the hospital. It had been several days since Jaku had happened and even though the doctors had done the best they could given Izuku's extensive injuries when he first arrived there was still no clear indication in sight of when he would awaken from his coma. The doctors were hopeful it would be soon though as brain scans showed normal activity in the brain. However at this point it was essentially a waiting game to see what happens.

She reached down and ruffled his hair for a brief second before turning when she heard the door to the room to open to reveal Katsuki Bakugo entering the room. He was quiet at first, as he walked over to another chair in the room and plopped down in it. He cast a quick glance at Izuku before speaking softly.

"Aunt Inko, have you heard any news about when the nerd will wake up?"

"No Katsuki, I haven't but when I do you'll be one of the first to know."

Bakugo let out a small grunt at the response and began clenching his fists which caused small sparks to come out of them. He unclenched his hands and moved them up to run them through his hair, his frustration about the situation clearly written upon his face.

"Fuck! Well what good are these doctors if they can't do something as simple as tell us a time frame for when Deku will be conscious again. They might as well be useless extras at this point!"

"Katsuki, I know you are upset but berating the doctors isn't going to change anything. All we can do is be here and let the doctors do their job the best they can." Inko said to the angry teen.

"I know but it's just...it's just infuriating because I feel absolutely useless. I need Deku to wake up so we can put an end to this. Once he's awake and medically cleared, Aunt Inko, I have every intention of going with him to stop Shigaraki and All For One. They have to be stopped."

Inko for a moment didn't say anything. To hear that Katsuki was willing to help Izuku warmed her heart. However she knew that he wouldn't get the chance to help him with this since she had already filled out the paperwork to have Izuku unenrolled from UA. Of course Katsuki wasn't aware of this yet. Even though she was sure he would probably be as mad if not madder than Izuk would, she decided telling the boy now would save her problems down the road.

"While I appreciate that you want to help Izuku, there is something you should know. Earlier today I met with Principal Nezu." As Inko was about to continue she was interrupted by Bakugo.

"Why would you meet with the Rat? If it's about applying to stay at UA for safety reasons you can set that up without having to meet with him."

"Yes I'm aware of that. While staying at UA for safety was brought up that was not the main reason I met with Nezu." Inko noted the questioning look Katsuki gave her before continuing on

"The main topic of discussion was Izuku. I'm not sure if you are aware but when UA first went to a dorm system I had originally had every intention of unenrolling Izuku."

"What? Why do you do something like? You know all the nerd has ever wanted to do is be a hero." Bakugo started to say before he was silenced by Inko glaring at him while clearing her throat and putting her finger up.
"Please let me finish before you say anything else. I had originally intended when UA went to the dorm system to withdraw Izuku from UA. The only reason I didn't was because he and 2 members of the UA faculty begged me not. After I agreed to let him stay, it seemed like maybe I had been wrong to even consider the thought of unenrolling him. Izuku was able to learn more about his late blooming quirk. He made friends aside from you Katsuki. He was gaining confidence in himself I never dreamed possible. But then the battle of Jaku Hospital happened and you see what that caused.

I know Izuku wants to be a Hero and that it's dangerous work. This though, this goes beyond dangerous. This is pretty much a death sentence if he stays enrolled. I can't in good faith as a parent let him continue on as a student of UA. If I do it'll wind up being the death of him and I don't want my son's death on my conscience.".

Bakugo stared at Inko while a wide range of emotions ran through his mind. Fear, disappointment, and anger being the most prominent ones. When all the other emotions passed but the rage he felt at the fact Inko was taking away Izuku's dream he gritted his teeth together before snapping at her.

"This is such bullshit. Even though you unenrolled Deku, he'll still be a target and there is always the chance he could still die. You can pretend it's about protecting him all you want but deep down that's a lie.

This is about what you want. You never wanted Deku to be a Hero. When he was a child and diagnosed as quirkless he asked you if he could be a Hero and your response was to say sorry to always tried to convince him to do other things or take an interest in other professions. I wasn't much better though. I told him most of his life he could never be a Hero.

There is a difference between me and you though. When Deku finally proved me wrong I gave him the support he needed. I stopped saying he couldn't be a Hero. I finally started to treat him better because I realised that in the past I was wrong.

You though, you never changed. You still treated him like a quirkless child chasing an unattainable dream. Sure you told him congratulations on getting into UA and let him go to the school but that was about it. You still encouraged him to remember that he didn't have to be a still coddled him and acted like the slightest thing would break him.

The fact you were willing to remove him from UA and crush his dream when he proved to everyone he can be a Hero is proof you don't believe in him." Bakugo spat at her. With that he stood up from his chair and made his way towards the door. Before leaving though he cast one last glance at Izuku before walking out of the room.
