2. July 5th

Date: July 5th

Dear diary,

Today was the opening ceremony's. I watched the parade we Gale Hawthorne Katnisses best friend, and the Everdeens. My family just wasn't as upset as I was and I can't bear to be near them for this. First thing I noticed was that Peeta had Katniss are holding hands and I just kept thinking OMG PEETAS PROBABLY BLOWING UP INSIDE! But then I noticed what everyone else was noticing, Peetas on fire.

The costumes their stylists created are actually on fire. Peeta looked cool but Katniss looked stunning. After the parade I headed home. I can't believe it. I couldn't think of what to do. I was upset all of a sudden and I don't know why. I realized it's because I want to know what's happening. So I did the only thing I could think of. I ran into town to find a phone. Then I called Haymitch Abernathy. His message told me the phone had been pulled out of the wall (ugh) but also it told me the number of the train. I called the train and said "May I speak to Mr. Abernathy?" I delivered the bread to his house every day and knew him pretty well. He's always drunk. His family was killed after he pulled a stunt in his Hunger games, and he hated mentoring. Because the kids from district 12 never win. So every year he talks to kids and then watches them die. He told me if I ever needed to talk to him when he's on the train he gave is phone number and said it was in the message. He also said to say exactly what I just said. When he picked up he said "Yes?"

"It's me, Amaria,"

"Oh, I knew you'd be calling,"

I ignored that, "Please Haymitch, I need you to help him,"

"You know I always try,"

"Yes but I mean REALLY try. Like harder then ever." There was a pause for a moment

"I'll do my best sweetheart. Do you want to talk to him?"

"Yes!" I exclaimed.

"Okay well he's in his room." Then he gave me the number. I was so excited I was gonna be able to talk to him I could hardly dial the number. Ringing... ringing... ringing oh no what if he doesn't answer... ringing... then I hear him "Hello?"

"PEETA!"

"Amaria!! How'd you get this number?"

"Haymitch. Peeta you looked so cool!"

"Thanks,"

"Peeta. You've really got to try,"

"I will Amaria,"

"I know but-"

"Amaria, I'll try. It's okay,"

"Alright bye," then I hung up knowing he had a crush on Katniss and he would never kill her. Not exactly reassuring.
