The next morning around 7:00 AM, Chip laying in bed caught a whiff of an unfamiliar smell. It smelt like if something was burning. He opened his eyes and the room was filled with black smoke. He jumped out of the top bunk where he fell asleep and shook Dale awake in the bottom bunk while shouting.

"Dale! Dale, get up!"

Dale sheepishly woke up in confusion and rubbed his eyes. "What's wrong," He asked.

"There's a fire! Come on, we need to get out of here." He said, reffing Dale from the bed and towards the bedroom door.

Chip gripped the bedroom door and it was warm. Hesitant and desperate to get him and Dale to safety he opened it slowly and peeked outside. The hallway was filled with smoke. He ran towards the front, holding Dale's paw still. The two were abruptly stopped as a flash of a flame burst through the kitchen door opening. Monterey Jack came rushing out, covered in smoke and coughing due to a lack of fresh air.

"Come on mates, we need to get out of here."

"How did this happen?" Chip asked.

Another flash of flames and crash of wood from above collapsing abruptly ended the altercation and the three rushed outside. They were greeted by Gadget and Zipper, still in their nightgowns sitting in the Ranger Wing.

"Come on guys, let's go!" Gadget said.

Chip, Dale and Monterey Jack boarded and the Ranger Wing took off with the flaming tree in the background. Multiple NYFD trucks could be seen rushing into the scene of the burning tree.

"Chip, could you let go of my paw?" Dale asked in a soft tone.

Chip, not realizing he had still a tight grip on Dale's paw, released and continued his glare at the treehouse that he grew up in was burning away. A few hours passed as the Rangers soon returned. They entered the treehouse, the kitchen and dining room were the only affected areas, fortunately for the team.

Chip sighed at the sight of the damaged kitchen. "How did this happen?" He asked.

Monterey Jack sighed. "I'm sorry, Chip. I was making breakfast and...well I guess I lost track of what I was doing." He said.

Zipper crossed his arms and lectured. "Tell him what really happened." He buzzed.

"Oh alright, I caught a whiff of the most decadent piece of cheese this side of the country and I just couldn't shake the feeling. So I ran after the scent and when I returned the kitchen was on fire." Monterey Jack said.

Chip shook his head in disapproval. "You need to start working on your cheese attacks. You nearly killed all of us." He said.

As Monterey Jack and Chip continued to argue, Dale snuck away and went to his shared bedroom. He lifted his pillow and pulled out a small box with a ring. A real diamond ring would have been too big but Dale luckily found one just the right size at the toy store. He went downstairs and saw Gadget caught in the crossfire of the heated argument.

Dale pulled Gadget to the side. "There's something I need to ask you." He said.

"What's that, Dale?" She replied.

Dale kneeled and exposed the small jewelry box and opened it. "I know I couldn't find a worse time to ask you this but I figured this is something that's needed to take our mind off of the burnt kitchen. Well, I guess my question is; will you marry me, Gadget?" He asked.

Chip and Monterey seized their argument at hearing this and turned. There Gadget was stunned at the question and a loss for words as she stared at Dale who was kneeling, holding the small ring in perfect view.

"Yes!" She said, kneeling and kissing him.

Gadget leaning into him, causing him to lose his balance and he falls back. The ring falls on his chest and Gadget lies on top of the ring and him. The two lock eyes and smile in the immense feeling of love they both have for each other at that moment. Chip and Monterey Jack stand watching this, both smiling at the sight of happiness that the two are feeling.

"Okay lovebirds, let's get you up." Chip teases, helping Gadget and Dale to their feet.

Dale slides the ring on Gadget's finger. "There you go, Gadget." He said.

Monterey Jack sighed. "Well mates, I hate to break up this moment but what are we going to do about the kitchen?" He asked.

"We could renovate it!" Dale stated.

"Renovate?" Chip said in a questioning tone as he was unfamiliar with the word.

"Just like in that TV show I watch," Dale said, gesturing at the TV.

Chip gave a half-smirk expression to Dale. "Dale, we don't know the first thing about renovating anything. You can't believe everything you see on TV." He said.

"Well, I, for one thing, think it's worth trying. So, Dale, how do we do it?" Gadget said.

"We clean out the old stuff, then we put new stuff in and we can even paint the room. We can use your workshop to build new cabinets for the kitchen." Dale explained.

"Hm, I don't know Dale. Seems like an awful amount of work. Wouldn't it just be easier to stick a fridge and stove out here in the living room?" Monterey Jack said.

Dale began stammering. "Well I-I." He began to say.

"And another thing, what do you know about "renovating". I think we should just do it my way." Monterey Jack said.

Dale sighed in defeat and lowered his head as he tried to turn and leave the room. Chip walked over and put his paw on his shoulder. Dale turned back and Chip looked to Monterey Jack.

"We're going to do it Dale's way. Besides, you were the one who burnt the kitchen, to begin with. Why shouldn't you do any of the work?" Chip questioned.

"Oh alright fine." He conceded.

Chip turned his attention back to Dale. "Let's get to work, partner." He said.

Dale smiled. "Okay. Let's get started." He said.

The Rangers first got changed into daytime clothing and then began cleaning out the kitchen and dining area. Before they knew it, it was 12:00 PM and they had the kitchen prepped for painting.

Chip took and stepped back and admired the work they had accomplished with Dale.

"So, Dale, what colour should we paint it?" He asked, glancing over at Dale.

Dale scratched his chin with his right paw in thought. "Hm, what about a light blue?" Dale asked.

Chip tried to imagine the once brown wood kitchen in a light blue colour. "Yeah, Dale, that would look good but where will we get the paint?" He asked.

"I've got some in my workshop." Gadget said.

"You do?" Chip and Dale said in unison.

"Yeah, I do for when I have to rebuild the Ranger Wing." Gadget answered.

"Okay then, Gadget I guess will need some of your paint." Chip said.

"On it, Chip." Gadget said, leaving the room.

As Gadget left the room Chip turned gleeful to Dale and hugged him.

"I'm so proud of you for proposing. You did it, Dale!" Chip said.

"Aw, thanks Chipper. That means a lot." Dale replied.

"When do you think you'll have the wedding?" Chip asked.

"I was thinking this weekend," Dale said.

"Wow, so soon. Well, anyway, I've got something to do right now. I'll see you later." Chip said.

"Okay, see you after," Dale replied.

Chip exits the kitchen and heads off to their shared bedroom. Dale leaned back on the wall of the kitchen and sighed with relief.
