I'm free, free from the humans who kept me in a little space for so long. It was barley big enough to hold a pack of Small Squawkers let along a Swift Hunter like myself.
And on top of that they kept trying to light the space with small little balls of light. However these ones never set or moved and some stayed on all the time. One day I made a guess and jumped up and I could reach them. So I bit all of them, these ones I could reach. Not like the great ball of light that I've come to know.
As I ran I took in the smells and sights. Everything smelled so different so I knew that this definitely was not my home island.
But the good thing was that I smelled lots of animals so I knew I wouldn't starve. Now the only thing I must do is avoid Humans and any rival packs. I prefer to be on my own anyway. I guess I've always been like that, now that I think about it. But my mind soon drifted back to the humans that took me.
My Nest Mother's sister used to tell me stories about how some of my cousins were taken before they hatched by Humans. They got them back though, unharmed and they became proud members of the pack.
The forest in front of me suddenly came to an end as I found myself standing on a cliff. It overlooked a huge part of the island. A lot of the island had those above ground dens that Humans live inside. But there was a good size of it that had forests and open areas like the valley beneath me.
I took another deep whiff and caught the scents of a lot of animals. Spiketails, Threehorns, Clubtails, Crownheads, Longnecks. Good prey to hunt, but without a pack almost impossible to bring down unless they are injured or young. My stomach suddenly growled reminding me that I did need something to eat. Running away from the humans took a lot of energy out of me. Suddenly I smelled a scent and smirked. An easy animal.
'Fast runners' I thought as I caught sight of a large herd of Fast Runners moving through the middle of the valley. I smiled before I went down the rocky path towards the valley.

"Alright Blue came in first" a white man said throwing a large chunk of meat at a grey Raptor with a blue stripe going down her side. "Charlie in second, Delta came third and finally Echo in last" the man said as he tossed another three smaller pieces of meat to three other Raptors. One had green with light black stripes running down her sides making her look like a green tiger. Another a lighter green hide but with no stripes and the last one a brown colour but had blue stripes along her body, but unlike her sister she had multiple stripes instead of just one.
Just as the man was about to give another training order, an African American man came onto the catwalk with a satellite phone in his hand.
"Owen, Claire. Says it's important" he said with a slight French accent. The man identified as Owen nodded before he gave a shrill two finger whistle. And with that, the Raptors went off to do their own thing except for one who stayed underneath the catwalk.
"So you finally want another date, huh? Owen said after accepting the phone.
"Owen, a Raptor is loose in the park!" Claire's voice yelled over the phone. Even though he just seen them all, Owen made sure all his girls were still in the paddock. Which they were.
"That's impossible, my girls are all still here" he answered as the African American man tensed up at the words.
"No, it's a male Raptor from Isle Sorna. It was brought in for experimenting, but it escaped, killing two people in the process" she said. Owen held back a grunt of frustration. He had raised his girls from chicks so anything bad having to do with Raptors, it hit him hard.
"Listen I'll explain more later. Meet me at the surveillance room immediately. ACU is ready to go, but I would like you to brief them on Raptors" she said before hanging up.
Owen sighed before he handed the phone back to the man and grabbed the railing, leaning over it. He heard a concerned chirp from below him. He looked down and seen Blue was below him looking up at him with an 'are you okay, Alpha?' look.
"I'm good girl" he said before turning to the African American man. Blue chirped before she ran off into the brush.
"Barry, I got to go. Can you watch the girls?" he asked as the man now identified as the man now identified as Barry nodded.
"Okay, also there's a Raptor on the loose. I don't know if it'll come to the girls for sure but there's a good chance. So brief the ACU units around here" he added.
"Not a problem" Barry said as Owen walked off the catwalk and got into a park jeep.
"Did sisters see that?" the Beta also know as Blue asked as she went to the middle of their home. Her sister Charlie, Echo and Delta all came out of the bushes with confusion on their faces as they hadn't been watching Alpha like their sister.
"See what Blue?" Delta asked seriously. Each Raptor had their own unique personality. Since Blue was the oldest, she was all serious and protective of her sisters and her Alpha. Though that also might have just been due to her being the Beta as well
Delta was the second oldest so she was mostly all serious like Blue, but she also had a habit of sleeping in long past when the sun comes up. Sometimes Alpha had to throw pieces of meat near her and make the others wrestle to wake her up.
Echo was the biggest troublemaker of the group. She was always nipping at the workers if they got close enough to the cages. Barking when she seen them carrying something that was so unstable that they would fall over if they were scared.
Charlie was the youngest of the clutch so she always acted younger than her actual age. But she knew when it was time to get serious.
"Alpha seemed nervous, scared and even angry" Blue said as she seen Owen talk with Barry before he walked off the catwalk.
"Maybe other human near again. Remember how Alpha always gets when he's around. I don't like him either, the way he looks at us..." Echo said. Blue watched as Barry went to get their lunch ready and brief the ACU guys around the paddock.
"I hope it was that sister" she said getting a bad feeling in her stomach.
??? P.o.v
I growled slightly as I stalked through the forest and towards the meadow. Fast Runners are quick runners, hence the name, and good at turns, but that is there only defense. They don't have horns or sharp tail spikes, so it makes them easy prey for a lone hunter like me.
As I stalked I felt myself getting happier by the second. This was what I loved to do the most in my life. Hunt. The stalking, the pouncing, the killing...
I got to the edge of the forest and looked over the Plains before continuing into the meadow. Fast Runners mostly always keep to the Plains, so it'll be a challenge to get close to the herd if they're out in the middle of the valley.
I stopped next to a large rock that was big enough to cover my body from the prey. I peaked around it and seen the herd again. The herd had stopped running and were now resting and eating with the lead one standing straight up and looking around for any danger.
But the problem was that they were really far out in the open. No rocks or trees to hide behind and the grass barely covered half of my body while I was crouched.
I growled and slashed at the ground in anger. Now I needed to find something else easy to hunt. I'm fast but not fast enough to catch up to Fast Runners with that far of a head start.
Just as I was about to turn around however, I seen movement behind the herd. It wasn't any prey or predator I've ever seen before. It was about the size of a Spiketail but with no legs, but it still moved fast with a steady growl as it ran. It then went directly towards the Fast Runner herd.
I decided to stay where I was and see how this... thing hunted. It was roughly the same distance to the Fast Runners as I was so maybe I could learn something that I didn't already know.
The lead Runner snapped it's head and squawked as the rest of the herd then got up and began running towards me. I quickly hid back behind the rock and wrapped my tail around my body as best I could so it wasn't sticking out. Within a few seconds both sides of the rock had Fast Runners running past it, paying me no mind at all.
Slowly I got ready, my blood pumping and my claws twitching in excitement. The prey the humans always gave me was already dead, so there wasn't any fun or joy in the hunt.
I jumped up and onto the rock and screeched loudly, spooking the Fast Runners coming towards me. The closest one to me then slipped on the ground and fell onto it's side just in front of the rock as it desperately tried to get away from me.
I jumped off the rock and onto the Fast Runner, digging my claws into both of it's sides getting a good solid grip. It struggled to get up but my weight along with my claws tearing into her back and sides prevented her from doing so.
I clamped my jaws down onto her neck and threw my head back tearing into her neck. I did this a few times getting through her skin and into the softer flesh of it's neck.
Within seconds she had stopped moving, so I let go of it's neck and it fell to the ground limp. I then raised my head and barked in victory several times before letting out a long screech, letting the whole valley know that I had just taken down a prey animal.
I listened for a few seconds but didn't hear any responses other than the warning calls of other prey. But no other Swift Hunters. Maybe I was the only Raptor within the valley. However then I heard something behind me.
I turned around and seen the thing I had seen earlier, but now that it was closer I could see that there was humans inside it. Did it eat them. No they seemed okay. Scared, but fine. Some even seemed happy, I think.
Never then less I showed my teeth before I grabbed the dead Fast Runner by what was it's neck. I then dragged it back to the forest my eyes never leaving the humans.
Some of them held up things and made a strange clicking sound. But other than that they didn't move.

Owen Grady waited until the doors to the elevator that led to the surveillance room opened and he walked in. Angry, very angry.
Inside the room was Claire, Simon Masrani and Dr Wu along with a bunch of tech people. On the screens showed the fences around Gallimimus Valley. They were all green meaning that there was no breaks in the fences.
But also on the screen was a picture of a dirty blonde skinned Raptor standing victorious over the dead body of a Gallimimus. The photo was from a social media site so on top of the photo was 'OMG got to see real life Raptor takedown. Can't believe Jurassic World let's predators in with the herbivores.'
"The hell were you thinking, huh!?" Owen said gaining everyone's attention. "Bringing a male Raptor when all we got in the park is females is bad enough, but experimentation? How stupid are you" he said getting closer to Dr Wu, who just stayed silent and still, knowing that Owen wouldn't hurt him. Claire got in between the two and directed Owen back.
"That's not why we are here Mr Grady. We need to make sure that the asset is captured before it hurts anyone else" Claire said before turning to the screen.
"We have shut down Gallimimus Valley and made the announcement that it was due to some fencing issues. We've also made the announcement that the Raptor was placed in the valley until we could figure out if it should go in with the females or build him his own paddock, but all the guides knew about it. We're trying to keep the fact an experimented Raptor got loose. Anyway, the Valley is now empty so we can capture the Raptor" Claire said.
"Only after we catch it, then what? We have to do one of those two, no?" Simon asked. Owen thought it over in his head on the way here. If he doesn't kill the girls when he first gets in the paddock like one Raptor in the first Jurassic Park attempt did, then the girls will probably kill each other to be with him when their heat comes in.
Suddenly clapping was heard from behind everyone. They turned room see Victor Hoskins standing there with a huge smile on his face.
"Oh this is great Owen, I don't even need your Raptors. I can just take this one" he said eyeing the picture on the screen. Owen growled slightly before he walked up to the smaller man.
"If I've told you once, I've told you a million times. You. Are. Never using any Raptor as a weapon" Owen said.
"Well what are you gonna do with him then huh? Everyone here has read the reports from the original park and knows that when they introduced a new one into the original pack, it killed all but two. Are you really prepared to risk your girls?" Hoskins challenged. Owen had to decide what to do and he had to do it now.
"I'm putting him in with the girls. He's the only male Raptor in the pen, so he more than likely won't see the girls as a threat and will not hurt the girls. And if he does, then we'll move him to his own paddock before he can do too much damage" Owen said before turning his back to the man, who scowled.
"And if he doesn't, then the only thing we'll have to worry about is when the girls go into heat" Owen said as Claire immediately perked up.
"Ooh, baby Raptor attraction" Claire said to herself. Suddenly Dr Wu then stepped forwards.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but how is ACU going to be able to get close to the Raptor to get a shot at it? The team Ingen sent took two weeks before they finally got it and even then, he killed one and injured another in the fight that followed. Not to mention that the stun gas didn't seem to have any effect on him" he said. Owen went into thought and looked at the map.
"That's probably due to your experiments" he muttered to himself looking over the map. But he soon sighed in annoyance.
"He's right though, the wind in that valley can change on a dime. Even without the experiments being done, a Raptor sense of smell is ten times better than a Bloodhound's" Owen said looking over the map. Maybe they could force him into a ravine or corner him against a river.
Hoskins then smiled as he seen his opportunity to see just what the Raptors can do. He rubbed his chin and hummed like he had just come up with the idea.
"Well I have a suggestion" he said gaining all the attention on him. "We release Owen's Raptors. They track him down and while he's distracted with them, ACU sneaks in and hits them all with tranquilizer darts" he said.
"You want to release more Raptors in the park!?" Claire yelled. Hoskins looked over at Owen, who was deep in thought.
"It pains me, but he's right. Raptors are pack animals and more than likely this one is searching for a pack to join. And with them being all females and the girls never seeing a male before, he'll probably be distracted enough for ACU and myself to sneak in" Owen said.
"Wait you're going too?" Claire asked shocked. Owen shrugged while smirking.
"I've hunted deer with my dad before. I got all the training and then some of the other guys in ACU. Plus then I'm there incase anything goes wrong with the girls. I can keep them at bay long enough for ACU to deal with the male first if it comes to that" Owen said. Hoskins clapped his hands once.
"Well then it's settled" Hoskins said smiling as he turned around and quickly walked out before anyone could change their minds. Owen clenched his jaw before he swiftly punched the nearest wall in anger. Claire walked over to him and grabbed his shoulder.
"Listen, you can get angry later, for now we need you to brief ACU. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to pursue the asset, we can't send anyone out there in the middle of the night" she said. Owen nodded before he walked away quickly to the changing room for ACU. Inside the commander of the squad met him at the door, behind him his men were loading up their guns and getting their gear on.
"Owen" the commander said as Owen, despite what just had happened smiled and shook the man's hand.
"Hamada. Uh everyone stop getting ready, change of plans. We're heading out tomorrow morning or afternoon" Owen said as the commander turned and walked down between the two benches where his men were sitting with Owen beside him.
The rest of the men stopped getting ready and began getting their gear off and unloading their guns.
"Thank you for coming in. We've dealt with a good amount of carnivores before, but Raptors..." he paused to chuckle before he turned around.
"Raptors are something else as you know. So any info you can share would be appreciated" he said sitting down as Owen found that every eye in the place was on him.
He had bonded a lot with most of the ACU guys, mostly because of their military history. He nodded before looking back at the Asian man.
"Okay, first of all though, I am going to be coming with you" Owen said. Hamada nodded before gesturing to the weapons room.
"That's fine. You can grab your gear inside there. We normally do one magazine of lethal rounds and the rest non lethal" Hamada said untying his boots to switch back to his normal shoes.
"Uh okay and second thing is that... We're releasing my Raptors to track and distract the escaped Raptor" Owen said as the room went dead quiet.
"Are you out of your freaking mind?" one of the ACU guys said Owen quickly held up his hands.
"It wasn't me alright, though I did have to agree to it. It was Hoskins who said it" Owen said. Most of the people were now shaking their heads and whispering among themselves..
"Okay look" Owen said drawing the attention back to him. "I know most of you are probably scared right now and you have every right to be. But as long as you all stay behind me and follow my orders when we release the Raptors, they should not attack you" he said. Most of the guys reluctantly agreed though it wasn't their most favorite plan.
Owen then began to explain different things that Raptors do and what they'll need to do to stay alive.
The male Raptor looked up at the stars above him, his stomach now full of fresh meat. He let out a yawn before scratching the ground underneath him with his claws.
He'd have to find a more suitable part of the valley before he would be able to create a permanent nest. But for now this area would suit his needs.
Tomorrow he'd make his territory markers and explore some more. for now though a good night's sleep underneath the night stars.
He smiled before laying down and curling up. Slowly he closed his eyes and began to sink into sleep.
