A/N Hallo. Haha. Thank you for the review, faves and follows. :)

Chapter 2

"It never occurred to me that you're this kind of guy, Levi." A familiar voice teases, "You brought home a naked woman and then you called us over. How perverted. Are you showing off?"

A grunt before another familiar voice speaks, "She fell out of nowhere and my phone is drained. I can't call 119. You're a doctor now, anyway. Furlan is just being nosy. Why did you even bring Isabel over?"

A huff and then, "I'm a physicist, Levi. Not a physician. And you're supposed to be smart."

"I'm hurt, Levi-aniki. It's my life-long dream to see what kind of woman you'll bring home someday." Another woman's voice chirps.

"Tch, you should dream bigger than that." The familiar voice retorts. Sounds like Captain Levi.

"Where do you think she came from?" Another man inquires, a voice she doesn't recognize.

"You shouldn't really hover around here. It's rude to stare longer than three seconds to a full-grown, well-developed woman, Furlan-nii." The unfamiliar woman warns and then snickers, "Then you get embarrassed."

"Furlan, my friend. You can stare at me as long as you want." The familiar woman's voice cheerfully offers. This one sounds like Commander Hange.

"Me too."

"Hange-san's manlier than me. And Isabel's underdeveloped. Both can never be considered a full-grown woman."

"You bastard–"

Mikasa's head is spinning.

"Oi," the voice resembling her captain's cautions. Even Mikasa instinctively flinches. He sounds like he is musing to himself when he says, "Why don't you go argue outside?"

Mikasa musters the strength to open her eyes. It feels like her body is not connected to her head. She doesn't notice that they have grown silent. She groans and blinks until the blur clears only to find four heads hovering over her, eyes probing in pure bafflement and awe. Two faces are familiar, two are not. Her throat tightens as she tries to speak, but it is dry. So, she coughs.

"Water!" The red-haired girl shouts in panic.

The calm guy with ash blonde hair immediately hands her a glass of water but quickly grabs her back before she gives Mikasa the glass. He grabs a ball of cotton, dips it into the water and gently presses it against Mikasa's lips.

But Mikasa needs more. So, she forces herself to sit up and seizes the glass of water from the flustered red-haired girl.

She gulps like she's fighting for her life and quenches her immense thirst. It is then she notices that two men are now facing their backs against her and the two women are gawking at her rudely, with cheeks blushing furiously. When she follows their gazes, she instantly figures. Looking down, she's still practically unclad, with only bandages and gauzes covering her upper body. "Ah." She sighs as she pulls up the sheet of blanket covering her earlier. "Sorry."

Few seconds of silence passed, the familiar woman started to inquire. "What happened to you?"

"Commander Hange." Mikasa croaks, finally her voice comes back. She is happy to see her. She salutes, despite her sore and trembling arm, she raises her right hand and sticks it against her chest. "I'm glad to see you."

Three pairs of curious and shocked eyes gawk at her. One pair seems uninterested.

"She knows you, Hange-senpai." The red-haired girl cries out.

"I don't know her, though." Hange defensively waves her hands.

Mikasa tilts her head in confusion. Suddenly, like a water barrage breaking, memories of her attempting to use and destroying Hange's time travel device come crashing down. Did she get sent to a farther past? She turns to look at her surroundings. The room looks unusual, incomparable to the rooms of the hotels they've stayed on when they ventured outside the islands. It is spacious, almost as big as Commander Hange's office. There are posters of weird men and women plastered on one surface of the walls, bizarre characters written over it.

Then, there's a box with moving images of small people. Turning to the right, there are more boxes entangled with black, thin copper wires.

As if the commander who declared she doesn't know her senses her massive confusion, she speaks. "Don't force yourself to think too much. We just want to make sure you're okay. You don't look concussed, thank God."

"Aren't you Commander Hange?" She asks weakly, her mayhem of thoughts refuse to rest. Mikasa points to Levi, "Captain Levi?"

Three brows rise and then laughter erupts. Said captain remains expressionless, though. He doesn't seem to find the situation funny in the slightest. Mikasa furrows her brows. Levi can't help but bark to silence their companions to no avail, "Do you even remember your name?"

"Mikasa," she replies over their laughter, unable to decide what to feel. Then, as if she realizes something, she asks, "Wait, what year is it?"

That's right. She should figure out how far to the past she has travelled from the present.

"2018." The blonde man replies over his hilarity. "From what year are you from? Don't tell you came from the future–"

She panics internally and cuts him off. "From the past." Her brows furrow in frustration, teeth clench and her knuckles whiten as she digs her nails deeper into her palm. "I came from the past."

Mikasa is pretty sure 857 comes before 2018. Way, way before even. There is silence for a while before the two unfamiliar faces burst out laughing once again, they almost roll on the ground. Hange, however, stares at her in pure interest and wonder – like she just discovered a rare-type titan. "Are you serious?" Hange asks ecstatically.

Unable to restrain the tears of embarrassment and disappointment, she replies. "I am. I intended to go back to the past though. But I came here instead." Mikasa takes a deep breath and tries to maintain her controlled expression, "It's all my fault. I should have destroyed your device right away and never dared to defy your final order to me."

Hange seems to understand nothing but is still practically drooling. "Tell me more."

"Why don't you take her home?" Levi suggests, irritated.

Hange lets out a sigh of regret and rubs Mikasa's back gently, careful not to touch her wounds. "I can't, Captain Levi." She mocks, enunciating the title which Levi completely ignores. "I have to go back to Tokyo tomorrow."

Levi scoffs and turns to look at the red-haired girl. "Isabel?"

Catching her breath, the girl called Isabel lifts her hands up in the air, as if feigning surrender. "Sorry Levi-aniki. Mother won't allow it. She's a pretty girl, my dad's a ladies' man. I can't risk destroying my family." The girl looks at Mikasa and grins at her, sending her a peace sign. "Don't take it personally. I didn't say that to offend you. It's just precautionary measures. I don't want you getting violated in my turf, either."

Mikasa stays quiet, offering no response. And then the ash blonde man places a hand over Levi's shoulder. "I'll take her home." Levi ignores him, the man sneers, face now redder. "Oh, wait. I'm already home. Captain Levi's my roommate." He laughs at himself.

The red-haired girl taps him on the back and joins his hilarious outburst. "That was a good one, Furlan-nii."

Levi clicks his tongue impatiently and stares hard at Mikasa. "Hey," he calls out. She looks back at him. "We don't know anything about you, so we can't confirm if your memories are intact. Do you remember where you live?"

Mikasa nods, thoughtful. "Paradis."

"Paradis?" The other three repeats.

"Where's that?" The red-haired girl inquires as she wipes her tears leaking from laughing too much.

"It's an isolated island in the western continent." Mikasa retorts, now cupping her forehead with one hand. "I can't believe this."

"Do you mean Paradise Country?" Hange muses out loud. "That's a farm somewhere in Queensland, Australia. Also, that's no country or island. Australia is a continent geographically located in the south east, so I doubt she means that."

"Australia? Who are you kidding? You speak the same language." Levi snarls, "Your parents?"

"Deceased." Mikasa says.

Levi continues, "Family?"

Sadness flashes across her features, "Armin." She swallows and points at him, "And Captain."

Levi pauses and for a moment, the air in the room thickens. Of course, she considers Armin and Levi her only family left. Who else? Jean, Connie and Annie may have lived, Reiner even. But there's no other people who can understand her best other than those two. She doesn't understand the Captain fully, though.

Hange feigns a cough to lighten the mood. "Shouldn't we bring her to the hospital, Levi? To get her checked thoroughly. This might turn out worse later."

"We should post her online too. Maybe someone would recognize and claim her. We can also report this to the authorities, she might be a missing person and we're holding her back here." The red-haired girl proposes.

The ash blonde man takes out a small, foreign device that is unfamiliar to Mikasa. "What's your last name, Mikasa-chan?" There is a light sound of vibration every time his thumb connects with the screen.

"Ackerman."

Three mouths exaggeratedly fall. Levi's eyes widen ever so slightly, keeping his stoic demeanor.

"Oh my God, Levi!" Hange rudely points at him. "She says you're her family. And you have the same last name. She must be your wife from the past or something. This is getting so interesting, I almost want to stay and abandon my job in Tokyo."

"Levi-aniki~ were you really married? You never invited us to your wedding." The red-haired girl tries to tackle Levi into a big hug, but he easily evades the attempt. The girl lands gracelessly on the floor.

"That's not fair, Levi." The ash blonde feigns a cry. "The first time you bring home a woman, you immediately get yourself a wife."

Mikasa is utterly speechless. Words won't come out of her mouth. She is beyond bamboozled.

Levi glares at her. "Do you think you need to get yourself checked in the hospital?"

Finally, she relaxes. "No, I recover abnormally fast. And there's nothing wrong with my head. My memories are totally undamaged. I am Mikasa Ackerman." She shuts her eyes for a moment and swallows the urge to cry. "I am not Captain Levi's wife, and I don't think I will ever be. We just share the same last name. I was a former soldier of Paradis. I was born in year 835. I just want to go home." The trembling of her shoulders betrays her hardened expression.

The silence is stifling. Until her stomach growls loudly.

Once again, laughter erupts.

"I'll accompany you tomorrow to the police station. We'll report you a missing person, so you'd be able to go home." Levi says as he stands and walks away.

Blushing from shame but maintaining her unreadable expression, Mikasa nods as she stares at Levi's back.

She wants to see Eren, but right now, her desire to go back home weighs more than anything else.

A/N I tried googling Paradis, ignoring the SNK searches and found Paradise Country (a farm in Queensland, Australia as what Hange said) haha. It's just a reference. And as for the language, well. Imagine them talking in Japanese. Haha!
