Best Kind of Surprises
Chapter 2
Mike's visits were hit or miss. Andrea knew Mike was working a lot of hours, trying to put the James back together and looking for Kelsey, Alisha's demented girlfriend. He was busy. They texted and talked some. Not about the kiss, though. Andrea passed her real estate test and finished her therapy. She was always going to be stiff and sore. It was a miracle she had relearned to walk, and some days, she still needed a cane. Since, she could legally sell Mike a house, she began combing through the neighborhood and found him a house that she thought would be perfect. He agreed to meet at the house and helped her up the porch steps.
"It's a block from the ocean. Three bedrooms, two baths, including a master on suite. The living room, dining room and kitchen are all separated from another and I think you could knock some walls out. There is also a nice home office. Plumbing, HVAC and wiring is all recently redone and done well. I think its nice." Andrea said. Mike was looking around the living area and nodding.
"I would knock the wall out between there and the kitchen and dining area. Fresh paint. These floors are original but need refinished badly." Mike told her.
"And the paneling?" Andrea asked as they walked into the kitchen and dining area.
"Its got to go. New cabinets. New lay out." Mike said. He was looking into the backyard, with a pool that looked more like a lagoon.
"And that?" Andrea asked with a laugh.
"I want a pool, but that's more like a pond. Not sure what it needs." Mike answered.
"Well, this is livable and I have a pool. If you want to swim while you're working on this house, then by all means." Andrea offered.
"Thanks. Not sure when I'm leaving again. And to be honest, I'm not sure this is the one." Mike admitted.
"Alright. I'll keep looking." Andrea said. She started to leave, but Mike grabbed her by the arm. She thought it was to help her, but he pulled her closer and gave her a long and very intense kiss. Like the first one, it surprised her and left her wanting more. "Mike; I want you to do this, but we have a good friendship. I don't want to ruin that." Andrea said with a hand on his chest.
"We wouldn't have to." Mike said before giving her another kiss.
"Okay." Andrea answered into his neck.
"Can we go back to your place? Not sure I want to go back to the BOQ. Greene and the others party too hard for me." Mike asked.
"Sure. If you have your swim trunks, you can swim." Andrea said and Mike gave her a wide grin.
"I have something else in mind." Mike remarked.
"Mikeā¦I'm not saying no, but there are scars. Bad ones." Andrea warned.
"I know and I have my own. No worries. Let's go." Mike said. He gently pulled her out of the house and waited as she locked up. In his truck, he followed her back to her house and almost as soon as they walked in; the kisses started and she led him into her bedroom. Painted a light yellow, with white woodwork, a wrought iron bedframe and with a floral bedspread, it was definitely feminine. Mike didn't seem to care. He sat down on the bed, and very gently unbuttoned her flannel shirt. The scars were immediately obvious, but Mike smiled up at her.
"Are you sure?" Andrea asked.
"I should be asking you that. You promise me, if something starts to hurt, tell me. I know some things bother you." Mike said.
"I will, but it'll be fine." Andrea answered.
"Also; I don't have any sort of protection. I don't usually face these situations." Mike said quietly, almost ashamed of himself.
"Well, I had a lot of trouble even having Lily, so I doubt we will have anything to worry about, plus; I'm forty-three." Andrea remarked before giving Mike a long kiss while she pulled his t-shirt over his head. Quickly enough, clothes were pulled off and bedding was taken off the bed.
Several hours later, Andrea curled up even closer to Mike. She frequently got cold at night, and Mike was like a heater next to her. He simply wrapped his arm around her and drew her even closer. It had frustrated Bill when she had got close at night, but Mike seemed to expect it. There was a lot of things Mike did differently then Bill, and Andrea couldn't have been happier. Andrea could tell things with Mike were going to be intense. She could only hope her body would cooperate.
