Thank you all for you wonderful reviews, they really meant a lot to me and helped me to write this next chapter so thank you so much and enjoy reading!
Ron awoke still in a fetal position huddled in the corner of the common room, he checked the time and saw it was a half-hour until breakfast. He got up from his position and immediately winced, his whole body was sore and his face was killing him badly and he could tell his right eye was slightly swollen. He walked into the bathroom and closed and locked the door behind him before looking into the mirror, Holy! Shit! His eye was not 'slightly' swollen no, it was swollen a whole lot it just wasn't swelling over his eye and obscuring his vision. Both of his eyes held a black eye and his lip had a cut on it with dried blood all over his nose and mouth. As he undressed to go in the shower he also noticed the various bruises he had from being thrown down the stairs and landing face-first in the common room.
He showered slowly with cold water, as the hot water was burning painfully with the bruises and cuts all over his body. He shampooed his hair and soaped his body slowly and carefully, in an attempt to not hurt himself anymore. He had no idea being in Slytherin was going to be this bad! It was painful. Literally. He had bruises all over on the first day of school for refusing to leave HIS DORM and HIS BED. If this was what it was gonna be like being in Slytherin then he understood why his Mom and Dad had a huge distaste for the house. As far back as he could remember he had been told that the house of Salazar Slytherin was evil, prejudiced, and nasty. He was also told that the house of Godric Gryffindor was brave, nice, kind, accepting, and fulfilling. If he was being beaten up on the very first day of school then maybe his parents were right.
He got dressed slowly and just like everything else he had done since he woke up he went down to breakfast slowly. As he passed people he saw older students looking at him worriedly even older Slytherins were which was a little surprising to him but he shrugged it off. As he walked into the Great Hall he could feel eyes on him from the Professor's table, he didn't look to see who was looking at him, and he didn't try to guess either he didn't care at the moment. The moment he sat down at the end of the Slytherin table he saw his three brothers marching their way to him, the twins looked murderous while Percy looked concerned. He was ready to endure berating from the twins for getting into Slytherin but he was surprised when the first words out of Fred's mouth was
"Who The Hell Did That To You!" his voice shaking with rage, and even though it wasn't a pretty sight he still felt his heart unclench when he realized his brothers weren't mad at him.
" So y-your not mad that I'm in Slytherin?" The three looked taken aback for a second before George spoke.
"Of course not" he spoke with a smile "Yeah we were a little disappointed but we know your not some death eater or blood purest, so no we aren't mad, just a little pissed we won't be able to prank and tease you as much if you were in Gryffindor"
Ron beamed at George and felt relief wash through him quickly, his family didn't care. He wanted to sigh with relief but he didn't as he saw all of their faces grow serious again, no doubt about to ask about his injuries again.
"Ron wh-"
He was cut off by a female voice behind Ron " Mr. Weasley please come to the hospital wing after breakfast" Madam Pomfrey said in a not happy voice at all. She handed Ron a note after he nodded to what she said, he was in no mood to argue with everyone, he was just that sore. He watched Madam Pomfrey walk away and that's when he caught a glimpse of the Professor's table and he saw Dumbledore, McGonagall, and surprisingly Snape watching him with concern and for Snape a frown, but hey it wasn't a look of disgust or disdain so that's a win right? He looked back to his brothers who were ready to speak up again but he beat them to it.
"I appreciate that you guys are worried about me, I do, it means a lot to me... I just fell down the stairs ok? I was an idiot and slipped and fell face-first on the common room floor"
That was not a lie so it wasn't like he was lying he just wasn't telling them the full truth. They didn't look all too convinced but it looked like they realized they wouldn't be able to get anything from him.
" If you need anything you'll come to one of us right?" Percy asked with concern clear in his voice and eyes.
Ron nodded " Of course, I'll always come to family first". His brothers all smiled at that and nodded
"All right, good, we'll see you later Ronneikins" the twins chorused as the three walked back to the Gryffindor table across the hall. He went back to slowly eating some eggs, bacon, and orange juice not registering that Snape was staring at Malfoy and his cronies with a sneer of disapproval. He also didn't notice Malfoy glaring daggers at him after seeing Snape sneering at him. Ron also didn't see or hear Malfoy discuss between his cronies about 'the snitch'.
He was eating his second helping of eggs when he heard hoots coming from above, he looked up to see owls flying above his head in the great hall. He immediately notices Errol his family's owl flying towards him, somehow he manages to land without crashing and shoves his leg in Ron's face, he pulls off the letter addressed to him and then lets Errol drink some of his juice. He opened up the letter and started to read
Ron,
Your father and I are outraged by your sorting, we thought we taught you right! But I guess you're just a traitor and don't believe in what we taught you. We put food on your plate, a roof over your head, and how do you repay us by throwing everything we've taught you in the trash. The first Weasley in Slytherin what an outrage! You are a disappointment to your family, we will talk about this young man! We will set you straight!
Mom
He just sat there reading the letter over and over again after the fifth time reading it he felt his eyes sting and his heart clench. He knew this would happen, his mom and dad hate him and want to throw him away. After a few seconds, the tears that threatened to spill started to leak out of his eyes, and his sorrow soon became anger. How dare they say he was a traitor! How dare they! They don't even bother to give me the attention I needed when I was a young kid, but I'm the disappointment! He ripped the letter up into several pieces before throwing them on the table and storming out of the great hall tears falling down his cheek.
Albus Dumbledore's POV
He watched as the young Weasley tore up a letter and stormed out of the great hall with tears running down his face. Albus watched with concern, what had the letter said to upset the boy so much? He could sense Severus watching the scene too. The other kids didn't even notice it seemed he didn't see one even spare a glance at the boy. He saw Severus stand up and glide down towards where Ronald previous sat and wave his wand over the ripped up pieces of paper, Albus watched as the page was restored to perfect condition, then he watched Severus read it and the longer it seemed that he read the deeper his scowl got.
Severus looked up and locked eyes with Albus then glided his way towards him, he stopped next to the headmaster and handed him the letter.
"I do not wish to intrude on personal information, it is not my mail Severus" Severus seemed to not care at all that this wasn't their male as he shoved it into the headmaster's hand and said
"Just read it '' Albus sighed and looked at the letter, he read through it quite quickly and then looked at Severus, the usual twinkle in the headmaster's eyes was gone. How could Molly say that? He had a feeling that this was all her feelings on a letter and that Arthur didn't have a say in sending this letter out. But even if that was true, does that make this any better? No, no it does not this was horrible, how could a mother say this to their child over something as unimportant as houses, yes he thought Hogwarts houses were important but not this important.
He knew Severus felt just as conflicted but he hid it well. He sighed, took off his glasses, and rubbed his eyes.
"Keep your eyes on him, Severus, it seems that he doesn't have many people in his corner right now, you of all people should know how hard it is to feel alone". Severus stalled for a second before nodding then gliding back to his chair.
Ronald Weasley POV
He had just gone to the hospital wing and gotten his bruises and swelling all healed, Madam Pomfrey had asked him what had happened and he told her the same thing he told his brothers, that he fell down the stairs. She didn't look like she believed him for one second but said nothing after that.
He was walking down towards the courtyard when an idea popped into his head, he was never a guy for studying and reading but he was not gonna let his mom call him a disappointment and traitor and get away with it. He was gonna show her that he could be a great wizard, a great student. So he made his way to the common room and said the password and made his way to the dorm. He entered and immediately went towards his trunk. He opened it up and gathered all his school books that covered all the first year and then he grabbed his wand, cauldron, and his simple kit of first-year potions ingredients. He then closed his trunk and went to make his way out.
He stopped when he saw Malfoy and Zabini waiting for him by the door out, he tried to make his way out but they blocked his way
Malfoy shoved him back and he stumbled a little "you're gonna pay weasel! You little snitch you just had to go tell Snape all about us hitting you didn't you, you little pussy, didn't know you were such a girl" Ron felt his temper boil.
"I didn't tell anybody it was you, you daft imbecile, it's not my fault Snape isn't an idiot and realized that you five numb nuts couldn't keep your hands off me...didn't know I was so attractive you had to touch me so much," he said the last part with a smirk.
Suddenly Draco punched him in the gut making him drop all the stuff he had gathered. "Shut up weasel you filthy blood traitor! I have come up with a new rule: you're not allowed in the dorms at ALL!" He then grabbed Ron with the help of Zabini and they threw him out of the dorm room. He was followed after a little bit by his trunk and all the things he had dropped when he was punched in the gut.
Ron slowly gathered up all his stuff again, luckily nothing had lasting or serious damage, he then dragged his trunk to the far end of the common to a secluded area that no one sat near and he shoved it in a small crevice so it wasn't visible. He would have to come up with a sleeping arrangement soon but for now, the common room would have to do.
After he collected his stuff he made his way down to the library where he proceeded to go to the far back to a secluded table, he noticed a familiar head of bushy hair sitting towards the front of the library but he decided to ignore her and move past, not that he wouldn't like to maybe try spending time with her but he had more important things to do at the moment.
He set up his cauldron and ingredients and then set up all his books. He was going to go through each book and take notes for each class, for charms and transfiguration he was going to be practicing nonstop for the next three days until classes started and he was going to do the same for potions. He proceeded to take notes on every subject each book covered and these notes all though tiring to make were very very detailed and well done and he was proud of himself for doing them well.
He was leaving doing the potion making and spell work till after he had the notes completed so that he could do all the reading and 'boring' part first and leave the more fun and cool part last to kind of give himself a reward. He pulled out his wand to try some magic. He had a piece of blank parchment laid flat on the table and next to it was a toothpick and porcupine quill. He was ready to try some magic, he knew his wand was going to be difficult to use already being that when he heard how his brothers talked of getting Wanda and that warm welcoming sensation that filled them, well he had none of that with Charlie's old wand and it made him upset, but he didn't say anything to his parents about it.
He started by raising his wand and dimpling saying "Lumos" to his amazement it worked on the first try and it shone bright and clear with a wispy white. He was proud of himself and didn't know what to think, was he a natural? Yeah well no he wasn't and he soon found that out when he tried to transfigured a toothpick into a needle and to levitate the parchment up with a 'wingardium leviosa' although it was looking a little bad for him at the moment he wasn't letting that get to him at all, he had a mission to prove people wrong especially his mom and dad so he kept working at it and working at it all through the night.
He awoke in the library sprawled over the table, he checked the time and noticed had a couple of hours till breakfast so he rubbed his eyes and then proceeded to gather his cauldron and ingredients together and started to attempt to brew a cure for boils, the previous night he had been able to become proficient in the first few spells in charms and he was able to turn the toothpick into a needle but was still struggling to turn the porcupine quill into a pincushion but in retrospect he was close. The previous night he had been too caught up with becoming well rounded in the spellwork he forgot about potions. So he was going to contribute today to brewing two or three potions to at least good quality, at least to the point where he could brew the potion relatively easily and quickly. The book said that the two easiest potions were a cure for boils and a potion that would change your eye color. He slowly figured out that his favorite subjects were potions and transfiguration, charms, and DADA coming in close seconds. He didn't know why, transfiguration was the hardest subject so far yet it was the most interesting to him, and potions just seemed to relax him and calm him down as he brewed the potions.
About 40 minutes later he had finally finished his cure for boils and as he read about what it was supposed to look like and the consistency and even taste like, he realized he did well, when he followed the directions exactly and made sure to do things the correct way without being lazy, he brewed the potion again this time it took him 30 minutes, and then he brewed it again and it took him 20 mins, and then after another hour brewing he was confidently able to brew the potion in 10 minutes. He was about to move onto the next potion when he checked the time, he hurried off to breakfast leaving his school stuff at the library.
He had been working on potions for about 4 hours after breakfast had finished and he was able to brew the cure for boils in 10 minutes and the eye-changing potion in 12. He was really happy with himself, while others might have told him that these were simple potions that only buffoons would mess up he didn't care, he was working hard towards a goal and nothing would stop him, no one would stop him from proving his 'loving' mom and dad wrong.
After he packed up his potions equipment he went back to charms and transfiguration, he also started to learn spells from his DADA book. Also, he had gone through the library and found a pretty thick book "Beginnings to curses, hexes, Jinxes, and spells". He started to delve deep into all these spells, each spell being not too hard but hard for him and his stupid wand took him about 2 hours to 'master'. He spent all day in the library again that day and learned a pretty big array of spells for an 11-year-old wizard who hasn't even been into classes yet. He was proud of himself and very happy that head had these 12 spells down after only two days. Now he also knew that these spells were supposed to be easy and that someone with a proper wand and high intelligence would be able to do all of them on the first try but he didn't care. He knew he wasn't smart, or talented, all he had was his determination. That's what the hat said at least he would do anything to prove people wrong if they had wronged him or thought bad of him. He had a strategic mind, he knew this and he always thought it was useless until now, he was using his mind to drive himself to learn these subjects and spells so he could show everyone he wasn't just a stupid poor lazy blood traitor.
He awoke in the same place he did the previous day and checked his watch to see an hour and a half until breakfast. Instead of immediately going into his studies again like he did the previous day he went to take a shower and wash himself off so he didn't smell like the library anymore. He came back from his shower and saw a bushy-haired Gryffindor sitting at one of the front tables of the library. So he sucked in some air, straightened out his back to look confident, he didn't feel like being insulted by her again, being bossy and telling someone they're not very good at magic isn't super nice but he could brush it off if she wasn't always like that. He walked over and sat opposite of her, she didn't raise her head to meet his eyes or even acknowledge he was there so he spoke up
"Uh...hey.." she looked up at that and met his eyes, she looked a little startled and maybe even a little...angry?
"If you're here to call me a filthy muggle-born like the rest of your housemates then just leave, I'm in no mood to talk to rude Slytherin boys!" She snapped, Ron jumped in shock, is that seriously what people thought of him?
"Why would I do that?" He asked after he recovered from his shock "I met you on the train and you told me that you were muggle-born if I had anything against that I would've insulted you then, and haven't you met my brothers? No one in my family believes in blood purity" She seemed to look guilty because of his voice that was unsteady and broke a few time
"I'm sorry...It's just I've been insulted by nearly all the Slytherin first years, that I just assumed...I shouldn't have, I'm sorry" He nodded at her apology
"It's ok" He looked at her in the eyes and shrugged " at least you know now" She smiled at him and he smiled back. They talked back and forth for a good 45 minutes before they realized it was time for breakfast and they parted ways with goodbyes.
After breakfast, he made his way back to his table in the library and began to read through all of his notes all over again to freshen his mind up again. After 7 hours he finally finished reading through his notes. He made his way to dinner and ate a big dinner to add up for his missed lunch. After dinner, he delved down into learning more difficult spells from first and even second year. He wanted to go ahead of schedule for spells and potions and he would learn all the other information to write notes on later in the year or even in the summer.
He didn't do too well with the second-year spells, not even fully getting one but he did learn two more cool albeit simple hexes. All in all, he was ready for classes the next day so he decided to read through the notes one more time to be safe and then go to bed.
He woke up in the library once again and checked the clock to notice one hour before breakfast, he stood up gathered all of his school supplies and notes, and went back to the common room where he put all of his stuff back into his trunk and then took a shower, got dressed, then made his way to breakfast.
Today was the start of classes, it was the start of his new opportunity, the opportunity to prove his parents wrong, to prove everyone wrong about him. He wasn't lazy, he wasn't stupid, and he was not just another Weasley.
