Chapter 2: Betrayal
Author's Note: Second chapter in already?! I'm really grateful for the views that I've received from you guys, it motivates me to continue writing this story, gives me purpose, you know? In the last chapter, we introduced two new characters to the series and a new location. This won't be a calm chapter, more towards the lines of betrayal (as the title suggests) and showcasing some of Yorukō's skills, little bit of Yorukō x Yuina and so forth. R&R, please! I use these to continue writing.
Enjoy!
Also, I don't own Naruto, just the OC characters sadly.
It's been two days since Yorukō and company departed from the village. They decided to set up camp in a forest not too far from the village to rest up and continue the journey. Soon after, night came, each ninja opting to keep watch in case of any surprise attack from any enemy ninja, mercenary, or a simple group of bandits, the latter going out the quickest. It was Yorukō's turn to keep watch, opting to stay on some tree branches in order to see as much as he can.
With Yuina…
Two days has passed and Yuina still feels conflicted in relation to her feelings towards Yorukō. Here was a boy she grew up admiring, wishing one day to be more than just friends with him, and on the other side, anger, and rage after hearing he wants to desert the village. It doesn't make sense to her. Why would he want to leave the village he was raised in, a village he nurtured his craft in? He's a part of the Frost's ANBU for goodness's sake! Looking at the boy, she hopped to the tree he was placed at, much to his confusion.
"You, me. We need to talk. Now." Yuina demanded.
"I can't leave this post, Yuina," replied Yorukō, "If I leave, I'll get in trouble."
"So?" countered Yuina, gesturing at the two other shinobi nearby, "One of them can keep watch, say you got to take a leak or something."
"Since when did she get so bossy?" Yorukō thought to himself, "I'd rather not challenge her further, so I'll tag along for now."
"Hey! Generic Frost Ninja #1!" yelled Yorukō, "Can you keep watch for me? Nature calls!"
"That's not my name!" the now named Generic Frost Ninja #1 retorted before getting up, "Whatever. Just don't take too long."
Both Yorukō and Yuina hopped off the branch, Yorukō going to 'tend to nature' with Yuina following him. After a couple of moments, the pair walked a far enough distance from the group, allowing them to talk without anyone listening in.
"Alright, Yuina," Yorukō said, turning to face the girl, "what do you want to talk-"
SLAP!
That was all Yorukō could say before Yuina put all her force into that slap, causing the boy to wobble and try to regain his balance.
"What the hell was that for?!" an angry Yorukō asked, his tone more demanding. Before he said anything else, he noticed the girl was sobbing, an emotion he never saw the girl display before, especially towards him.
"W-Why do you w-want to leave?" Yuina asked in-between sobs.
"Leave? What are you talking about?"
"I-I heard it a-all! Y-You want to l-leave the village!" after saying that, Yuina couldn't hold her sobs in anymore and began sobbing uncontrollably.
Yorukō was speechless. She heard everything, the second meeting with the Taiyōkage, his desire to leave the village and become a nuke-nin. At this moment it clicked in his head: the reason she felt that way two days ago at the gate was because of him leaving, or rather, the reason for him leaving. What he did next would shock the entire group, Yuina especially.
He hugged her.
Yuina was shocked to say the least. He never expected the boy she liked to show this form of affection towards her, and thus quickly returned the hug, her sobbing began to subside.
"I wasn't aware my choice affected you to this extent, Yuina-chan," said Yorukō as he placed one of his hands on her head while the girl was surprised at the show of affection and the suffix but said nothing, "but this is something I've wanted to do for so long. Wandering the world, learning new jutsus, meeting new people, it's just so much to do, you know?"
Fully calming down in his embrace, Yuina could see his reason for wanting to leave, but still wanted to let him know how she truly felt towards him to sway his decision, at least for a while.
"I really like you, Yorukō-kun." Yuina finally admitted, catching the boy off guard. "I've liked you since our days in the academy, when you saved me from being bullied from those kids. I never had the courage to tell you up until now, you know?"
Looking up at him she continued, "I wanted to tell you this when I got more confident, but here we are now."
Yorukō did not know how to respond. Here Yuina was, a beautiful girl to many, especially in their age group and some older than her, confessing her love for him. It made him wonder to himself what he did to deserve this love.
"Yuina, I-" Yorukō said before the girl placed her finger on his lips, shushing him.
"Let's go back before we get in trouble, okay?"
Yorukō nodded, the pair walking back to the tent. Walking back, multiple thoughts ran through his mind with what he just heard Yuina say, while his other thoughts drifted to what he set out to do.
"I've come too far to change my mind now," thought Yorukō, "but at least I'll know who to spare."
Before long, the pair arrived at the tent, the remaining shinobi looking at them with their arms folded and some of the angriest expressions you'll see.
"You guys are late!" exclaimed Generic Frost Ninja #1, "Because you guys took so long, we got to get an earlier move on!"
"Yeah, really sorry about that," said Yorukō, rubbing the back of his head, "it took longer than expected."
"I have to ask," another ninja in the squad spoke up, "why did you go with him, Yuina? He had to take a leak or something like that. Why follow him?"
"I-I…" Yuina stammered, trying to come up with an excuse but failed miserably.
"Leave her alone, guys," the elder shinobi spoke up, much to the girl's relief, "maybe she had to tend to some business of her own."
"I suppose you're right," the other ninja replied, not bothering to ask further.
"Yorukō, Yuina, everyone is already packed up," the elder shinobi said, catching their attention, "hurry and get your things so we can leave."
"It's now or never," Yorukō thought to himself before replying to the man, "Understood. Give me a few minutes to get my things."
The elder shinobi nodded.
It didn't take Yuina long to pack anything she used back up, placing them all on a scroll before sealing them, placing the contents in her pocket. Yorukō on the other hand seemingly struggled packing his contents up, but upon closer inspection, seemed he was buying time for something rather than just packing up. One of the younger shinobi walked over to him to try and help him move faster.
"This can't be taking you so long," he said, "let me help you."
"Thanks…" was all Yorukō said before a grin spread across his face. It did not take the two long for him to pack everything he had back up, finishing in less than five minutes. The generic ninja turned to begin walking back to the rest of the group, but before he could reach far, he was stabbed through the heart, killing him instantly, much to their shock, and Yuina's horror.
Confused on why Yorukō did it, the younger shinobi spoke up, "Why did you do that?! He was only trying to help!"
"Foolish child," Yorukō replied before appearing behind him, "while you guys were sent to find a fanatic, my TRUE mission was to eliminate you lot!" placing his hand over the boy's right shoulder, ice began to form, encasing his whole body until he became a statue made of ice. He pushed said statue onto the ground, shattering it and killing the boy in the process.
Incensed, the elder shinobi charged at the boy with a kunai in his right hand, hoping to avenge his teammates. Sensing this, Yorukō took the sword he was using and stopped the man's kunai and engaged in a clash. Yorukō was being pushed back by the man's kunai, his aggressiveness not giving the boy time to properly counter the more experienced shinobi. Before Yorukō could properly try and counter, he tripped on a rock behind him, causing him to fall on his back.
"OW!" Yorukō painfully exclaimed.
"You think you can get away with this, Yorukō? The elder shinobi asked while standing over him, before leaning down to grab his collar and lift him up. He was about to knock out Yorukō and bring him back to the village for further questioning when his hands felt cold, realizing he substituted himself with ice.
"As a matter of fact," said a reemerging Yorukō, taking his sword and piercing the elder shinobi through the neck, "I think I can." Removing his word from the man's neck, he kicked him from behind, causing him to fall on his chest in the process. Immediately after, an ice dagger was formed in Yorukō's left hand which he drove straight through the same wound he made in the neck, killing him immediately.
"Now that only leaves one…" said Yorukō, looking directly at Yuina. Paralyzed by fear, she couldn't make any attempt to run away, realizing that she would end up dead like her teammates. Yorukō slowly walked over to the girl, walking over the dead bodies in the process. Standing in front of her, Yorukō clearly saw similar tears from Yuina, only in this case they were tears of fear, afraid of meeting her end at her age, not being able to fulfill all of her dreams. She braced herself for the eventual death, only to find that nothing happened to her.
"Open your eyes, Yuina-chan." Yorukō requested, which she quickly did. "I'm not going to kill you. Instead, I'm going to leave you with something, okay?" she numbly nodded. Taking the other sword off his back, he handed it to the girl. "Take this. I never killed anyone with this one, and I want you to keep it, remember me every day. Can you do that for me?"
"O-Okay," Yuina quietly responded, "Where are you-"
Before she could say anything else, Yorukō kissed her on the cheek, causing her emotions to go haywire. In a swift motion, he appeared behind her and delivered a swift chop to the back of her neck, knocking her out in the process.
"Yorukō-kun…" was all Yuina said before passing out completely.
"Yuina-chan, I'm sorry."
With no time to waste, Yorukō fled the scene, leaving three corpses and one unconscious girl in his wake.
Let me know what you guys think!
Give me some reviews, I eat these to keep going! Also, if you could share the story around, I'll really appreciate it!
To my main man FoamPip: I read what you said, it is strange for a kage to send someone to do such a deed, but there'll be s surprise in the third chapter, hopefully it clears up why he did what he did! I appreciate your review though, it gave me the idea to do it!
