Kirishima Chapter: A Date with Kirishima
"WHOOOOAAAAA!" Kirishima stare at the opened letter from home and the two tickets that had been inside. "Tickets to this weekend's Hero Blockbuster Film Festival! They… they remembered." Tears filled his eyes as he recalled telling his parents he'd wanted to earn the money for tickets before the dorms had been initiated. With everything that had happened he didn't think they'd remember. Well, not only had they remembered, but they bought him the tickets themselves. "Mom, Dad, you guys are the best!"
He held the tickets triumphantly above his head. Filled with excitement he rushed to his door.
"I gotta tell Baku-Bro! Man he's gonna be so-" his excited words cut off.
"Kya!" The moment Kirishima opened the door and took that first hurried step out he collided with another person who squeaked in surprise. Both of them went sprawling onto the floor, and the tickets in his hand scattered down on either side of their collapsed bodies.
It took Kirishima a minute to realize he'd actually fallen down. The landing had been so soft, and his face felt like it was cushioned between two plump pillows, their fresh fragrance reminding him of springtime.
"Heavy…" a voice murmured and the pillows under his face shifted. "Are you alright, Kirishima-kun?" It was then Kirishima realized his face was not on two pillows, but was instead on the well endowed chest of one Izumi Midoriya.
"Eh? EH!?" He immediately jerked upright holding up his hands. "Crap! I'm sorry about that, Midoriya! Are you okay? Did I hurt you?"
"I'm okay, Kirishima-kun. You just knocked the breath out of me that's all." She let out an easy breath then sent him a shy smile. Her cheeks were flushed and her hair tousled from their tumble. He immediately went into a dogeza bow.
"I'm so sorry! I should have looked where I was going! Please forgive me!" His face was almost the same color as his hair. The memory of her soft mounds was now ingrained, making him feel low and unmanly.
"It's really okay, Kirishima. It was just an accident. She spotted the tickets and picked them up. "Here you dropped your…" she trailed off and immediately went into fangirl mode. "Oh my gosh! Are these tickets to the Hero Film Festival this weekend?"
"Oh…" he slowly lifted his head. "Yeah my parents got them for me. There's gonna be a Crimson Riot movie based off of his most daring rescues so I'm really excited."
"Lucky…" Midoriya went soft in the eyes as she handed them over. "I wanted to go too, but because of my tuition I can't afford tickets this year."
"Oh that's right, you're a really big fan of heroes in general, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess you could say my whole world is centered around heroes, particularly All Might." She sighed. "Oh well, there's always next year."
Kirishima looked at the two tickets in his hand then up at Midoriya's sweet face. He thought about what had happened with the League of Villains, about her kidnapping. She carried the scars of the event no matter where she was; both physically and mentally. Everyone could tell she was less cheerful, less engaging, and not on guard… and it was making everyone worried about her well-being.
Going on instinct he shifted to a relaxed kneel, and held out one of the tickets.
"Well I've got a spare ticket… would you like to come with me?"
"Really?!" Her whole face lit up and had his heart doing a little gallop. "You don't mind if I tag along?"
"Well sure, I don't know who else would enjoy this more than you Midoriya." He placed the ticket in her hand and she held it like a precious gem.
"Oh, Kirishima-kun!" She teared up. "I don't know what to say except...thank you!" She gave him a hug, squeezing him right before pulling back and hurrying to her feet. "I'm gonna go pick out the perfect outfit! This is gonna be so much fun! You rock!" She practically danced to the elevator.
"Heh," he waved to her, feeling good about what he'd done. Her smile alone was worth the price of admission.
He heard a slow creak of a door opening, and he glanced behind him to see Kaminari, Mineta, and Sero peering through the door of Shoji's room.
"Kirishima-kun…" Mineta's eyes glinted. "Did we just hear you ask Midoriya out?"
"Hmmm?" He looked at them innocently and beamed a smile. "Oh yeah. I got two tickets to see the hero film fest, and figured she'd wanna go."
"Dude, you know Bakugou is gonna totally kill you for moving in on his girl, right?" Kaminari pointed out with a look of dread.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Kirishima blushed at the thought of him and Midoriya together. "That's not what that was. I just thought-"
"You're providing the tickets aren't yah?" Mineta glowered.
"Well yeah, but my parents are the ones that bought them…" He pointed out.
"Do you plan on paying for her popcorn and meals?" Kaminari asked next.
"Yes, I mean it totally wouldn't be manly for me not to-"
"Do you find Midoriya attractive?" Sero followed up quickly.
"Huh?" Kirishima blushed and averted his eyes. He got a sudden reminder of Izumi's breasts and her cute flushed face. "Sure I think she'd cute, but I wouldn't-"
"It's a date!" The three of them confirmed and Kirishima fell onto his hands and knees, the realization hitting him like a ton of bricks.
"Oh man… it IS a date isn't it?" Kirishima swallowed hard. "I gotta tell Baku-Bro and get his permission. I don't wanna break the Bro-Code."
"Dude, it's broken, shattered even." Sero waved off the notion. "Still you should tell Bakugou now, he may spare your life if you agree to call it off."
"I can't call it off. I gave Midoriya the ticket and she's really looking forward to it." Kirishima frowned and clenched his fists. "I'll just have to reassure him that there's absolutely zero intention behind it. I'm sure he'll understand."
"It's your funeral." Mineta slunk back in, and the others joined him with a swift click of the door. Kirishima let out a long heavy breath he'd been holding and pumped himself up.
"Okay, you can do this, Kirishima. It's nothing, it's nothing, don't make a big deal out of it." He went to Bakugou's door and gave a knock.
"It's open." Bakugou called out from his desk, finishing a line in his study book and glancing up. "Bout time you got here. Where are your books?"
'I actually didn't come over to study, though I probably should." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh look, Bakugou, I wanna let you know that what I did was unintentional. I was just trying to be a good friend, and there's no real meaning behind it whatsoever."
"What the hell are you going on about, Shitty hair?" Bakugou lounged in his seat, impatiently tapping his pencil on the desk.
"Well… you see I got tickets to the film festival and uh… I asked Midoriya to come with me."
The pencil stopped tapping, and his brow raised up.
"Okay… and?"
"And… she said yes." He laughed nervously. "I hope that's okay."
"She goes every year, it's no skin off my teeth who she goes with… unless it's icy hot." He sent his gaze up skyward and scowled.
"Oh right… damn I'm gonna have to talk to him about this too." He rubbed his chin and shook his head. "Sero, Mineta, and Kaminari are insisting it's a date, but that wasn't my intention."
"I know that… if it was I'd beat you half to death, but I know you Kirishima." He jerked his pencil at him. "Now go relieve your conscience with Icy Hot, then grab your books. I don't plan to wait forever, I've got shit of my own to do today."
"Right! Thanks man, I knew you'd understand!" Kirishima grinned and hurried off to tell Todoroki too. Once the door closed, Bakugou's pencil snapped in half and he let out a single solitary curse.
"Damn rabbit…" he pulled out his cellphone and immediately started texting her.
~What the hell is this I hear about you going out with Kirishima?~
There was a momentary pause, then the typing screen popped up for about a minute before her response popped up.
~He asked me to go to the Hero Film Festival with him. I'm so excited! I didn't think I'd be able to go this year.~
Bakugou's temple throbbed and he aggressively texted her again.
~If you wanted tickets you should have just asked me.~
Another long pause…
~I didn't think you'd want to go. You're not a big fan of crowds, Kacchan. Besides it all worked out for the best. :) ~
Bakugou was tempted to throw his phone out the window. Didn't that stupid rabbit know what was being implied?
~So what, you're just gonna start dating Kirishima, now? Adding a third member to your fucking Harem, you perverted rabbit? ~
He waited for her to reply… two minutes… then five minutes. His temple throbbed and he started to text again, but his phone rang. He answered it, and immediately regretted it.
"KACCHAN YOU BAKA!" Was all she said before hanging up on him. The violent shriek of her voice knocked him out of his chair and he stared at his cell phone with a mix of surprise and frustration.
"Damn stupid rabbit." He tossed his phone onto his bed and crossed his arms and legs. He hoped Icy Hot at least was giving Kirishima a hard time about this stupid date.
~meanwhile~
"I see…" Todoroki and Kirishima knelt across from each other on his Tatami mat flooring. "That does sound like something Izumi would enjoy."
"So you're okay with me taking her?"
"I wouldn't say I'm okay with it… but I don't really have the right to disagree with it either." Shoto clenched his fists over his legs. "Midoriya has the right to date whoever she wants. Bakugou and I can't stop her if she decides neither of us are right for her."
"I still won't feel good if you're not 100% okay with it. I know we're not close or anything, Todoroki, but I still consider us friends."
"You are my friend… and as your friend," Todoroki bowed low. "I ask you to please take good care of Midoriya. She's very special to me and deserves to be happy."
Kirishima frowned at Todoroki's serious tone and face. He shifted his stance and bowed low in response.
"You have my word, I'll do my best to make Midoriya happy, and to have fun."
"That's all I can ask." Todoroki rose up. "Thank you for telling me, Kirishima-kun."
"Thank you for understanding. Please excuse me." He got up and left the room. Todoroki stayed where he was for a moment, his eyes saddening and he slumped cross legged onto the floor.
"Midoriya and Kirishima, huh?" He sighed and pulled out his cellphone. He dialed Bakugou's number and held it to his ear.
"The hell do you want, Icy Hot?"
"Bakugou… did Kirishima tell you?"
"What, about him and Usagi going to a stupid film festival? Yeah I heard. What of it?"
"Are you...okay with it?" He asked hesitantly.
"Hell no, I'm not okay with it!"
"Oh good…" Todoroki sighed with relief and held his chest. "I'm glad I'm not the only one… still I didn't see any reason not to give Kirishima my blessing."
"Tch, if you hate the idea you should have told him to buzz off and that Usagi is off limits." Bakugou huffed.
"You and I both know neither of us have the right to do that. If Midoriya likes him, then I don't see why she shouldn't be happy."
"Usagi says she loves us. Why confuse her feelings even more by letting her go on a date with someone else? It's stupid!" Todoroki heard the distinct snap of a pencil breaking, and wondered just how many of those Bakugou had gone through in the last half hour.
"Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason Izumi hasn't chosen one of us is because maybe in the end neither of us are the right choice?"
There was a long and awkward silence. Todoroki sighed heavily, and adjusted the phone to his ear.
"Why don't we just go to the festival too? We'll keep our distance and see for ourselves if those two are right for each other."
There was another pause but some movement in the background made Todoroki wait for a response.
.
"That's actually not a half bad idea, Icy Hot…" Bakugou smirked suddenly, a plan forming in his head. "Alright, I'll get us the tickets."
"Okay.. " he paused and raised a brow. "Wait, does this mean we're also going on a date?
"HELL NO IT DOESN'T! I'm not paying to feed you so you're on your own there!" Bakugou hung up.
"Good…" Todoroki hung up as well. "That would have been very awkward."
~Saturday~
Kirishima felt little arrows pierce his heart as he walked out the front door and saw Izumi waiting for him. Her hair was pulled up into a careless bun, with little whisky curls framing her face. The soft touches of makeup made him think the girls probably got her to put some on before heading out.
...and the outfit?
He didn't think a woman could look so cute and manly at the same time. The jean shorts showed off her strong leg muscles. She wore her trademark red shoes, and white socks, a tank top on the same bright red, and a jean jacket with an All Might patch over the breast pocket.
She lifted her head up and her bright green eyes and potent smile struck him like Kaminari's lightning.
"Good Morning, Kirishima-kun! Ready to go?"
"Y-yeah…" he slapped his cheeks and grinned wide. "Heck yeah! I'm revved!" He jumped the steps and hurried to her. "I got the day passes from Aizawa. We have to be back by ten."
"Great! That means we'll be and to see the firework finale!" Izumi held up the itinerary for the event. "I'm so excited!"
"Me too… Ah," he noticed her backpack on the ground. "Here let me get this for you Midor-HURRMPH!" Kirishima hefted the bag and immediately dropped it. "Whoa! What do you have in here, bricks?"
"Huh? Oh, I just grabbed some essentials. You know, wallet, keys, water, extra clothes, umbrella, a blanket..." She started listing things off.
"You were able to fit all that in here?" He looked at her surprised, and managed to heft it up on his back.
"Yeah, I may have gone a lil overboard, but every time I go to a big event like this I always wind up wishing I had one thing or another." She held out her hand. "If it's too heavy, I can carry it. I'm used to it."
"No, no it's fine." Kirishima insisted and shifted his weight a little. If Midoriya could do it, then so could he. "I've got it."
"Okay, if you insist. Thanks." She beamed a smile and walked side by side with him out the main gate. After a painful train ride that was packed with people and no place to sit, the two made it to the festival just as things were starting up.
Everything was outdoors, but for the main tents that would serve as the theatres. There were tons of food stands, a couple of game booths, a cluster of displays filled with movie memorabilia, and of course tons of souvenirs.
"WHOA! This looks even better than last year! Oooh something smells good, Ah! They're giving away limited edition All Might figurines at that raffle booth! HOLY WHOA! It's the sword All Might wielded in that Period piece he starred in! SO COOL!"
"Hey Midoriya, wait slow down!" Kirishima called out to her as she rushed right in. Still hefting the bag he tried to maneuver his way through and nearly tripped. Izumi paused and glanced back looking apologetic.
"Oh! Sorry! I got caught up in the excitement."
"It's okay, I just don't wanna lose yah in the crowd. Here…" He took her hand in his, a slight flush in his cheeks. "Why don't we do this so we don't lose each other?"
"Y-Yeah… that might be a good idea." Izumi's face went beat red at the intimate contact. She suddenly found herself staring down at her shoes. "So uh… where do you wanna start?"
"Well…" He had to smile. She really was super cute. "I don't know about you, but I'm starving. Let's grab some chow."
"Yeah…" Hearing the rumbled in her own stomach, Izumi lifted her head and brushed the embarrassment aside. "Sounds like a good idea."
The two walked hand in hand through the crowd. Behind them, Todoroki had to hold Bakugou back from storming over and causing a scene.
"Damn that Kirishima! How dare he hold her hand without my consent! I'm gonna kill that shitty hair bas-"
"Calm down, Bakugou. We're not here to interfere, remember?" Todoroki scolded. "Only to keep an eye on them."
"Yeah man chill out…" Sero agreed as he bit into a Yakitori skewer. "The date's just started."
"You guys gotta try this mochi!" Uraraka squealed with delight as she stuffed her pink cheeks with soft, sweet mochi ice cream. "Mmmmm sooo good!"
"WOW! Look at those dancers! That looks like so much fun!" Ashido bounced with giddy excitement.
"Kaminari did you see the rack on that sales woman?" Mineta drooled, his hands making squeezing motions. "Hubba, hubba."
"Not as big as the ones on that cosplayer over there. I'm gonna go snag a picture with her." Kaminari pulled out his phone, but both his and Mineta were knocked out by Momo and Froppy who bound them up like dogs on leashes.
"Why the fuck are you all here anyway?" Bakugou scowled at the small crowd of 1-A students behind him; which included Kaminari, Sero, Mineta, Uraraka, Froppy, Momo, and Ashido. "Who the hell invited you extras?"
All fingers pointed to Todoroki who was sampling the mochi Uraraka had given him. Bakugou sneered at him.
"Icy Hot…"
"They all wanted to come and I didn't see any reason to deny them. Don't worry, I paid for their tickets." He held up a gold credit card, the name Enji Todoroki standing out in big bold letters.
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT, YOU IDIOT!" Bakugou cursed and whirled back around trying to find Izumi and Kirishima. "DAMN IT, WE LOST THEM!"
"Would you relax already, man?" Sero stretched out lazily. "They're around here somewhere. They couldn't have gone far."
"Sero is right. Why don't we split up into smaller groups?" Momo suggested; creating walkie talkies and passing them around. "We'll blend in better, and be able to report our findings with each other."
"Gimme that!" Bakugou snatched one and grabbed Todoroki by the back of his collar. "Let's go, Icy Hot!"
"Hurmmm murrmmmm" Mouth full of food, Todoroki replied, and numbly stumbled with him as they merged with the crowd.
~Meanwhile~
Kirishima was having a blast. After having a delicious lunch that consisted of a lot of meat and the signature fruit drinks of the vendor, he and Izumi walked hand in hand through the festival grounds and took in all it had to offer.
They browsed the Memorabilia stands; he was really impressed by how knowledgeable Midoriya was about the various film's histories, and liked how she got excited when she discovered a tidbit she hadn't known before.
Both of them went a bit overboard at the souvenir stands, each of them getting excited over various types of merchandise. He laughed when she put on a pair of All Might shades and started doing imitations, and she took pictures of him looking manly in various Crimson Riot T-shirts and jackets.
After that, they tried their hand at a few raffles and games. He got super lucky and pulled the golden ball which won the limited edition All Might figurine that Midoriya wanted. She tried to deny the gift at first, but at his insistence she took it with grateful tears and cuddled the box to her chest.
"There's gotta be something I can get you, kirishima." Izumi clutched the box in one arm, and held his hand with her free one. "You really liked that jacket, I've got enough money I can buy it for you."
"That's sweet of you, Midoriya, but you already paid me back remember?" He flashed off the Edge Shot pin she'd acquired in her raffle. "An even trade."
"It's hardly even…" She pouted and rested her chin atop the box so to cuddle it closer.
"Hmmm…" Kirishima adjusted the backpack and looked around. His smile came quick when he spotted a photo booth. "There! Take a picture with me and we'll call it even."
"A picture?" She stumbled a bit when he pulled her towards the booth.
"Yeah! I'm having such a great time, why not save the memory in a picture?" He set their bags and the backpack down at their feet and messed with the settings on the machine. He found a border he thought was ultra manly and cool looking and pressed enter. The timer started counting down…
"How should I pose?" Izumi flexed her biceps prepared to give a big "All Might" smile.
"Just like that…'' Kirishima shifted closer to her mimicking the pose. The first one went off and they both laughed. "Okay now let's-" He turned his head towards her… izumi started to do the same and the two looked in each other's eyes. The second picture was taken…
"C-Close… you're really close, Kirishima-kun." Midoriya stammered nervously.
"Y-yeah…." Kirishima swallowed the lump in his throat. He could feel his heart pounding wildly in his chest. He wanted to kiss her, he realized. "Midoriya…"
He bent his head down, their lips brushing just slightly… before the screaming started.
It was the equivalent of having cold water poured over you. Both Young heroes felt the heat and rush of the moment just die away and their heroic instincts kick in. They jumped from the booth, eyes scanning around for the source of the panic.
Blue fire was raging from the main building where the movies were being held, several villains spread out causing mass destruction and chaos.
"Oh man! This is terrible!"
"Let's go Kirishima!" Midoriya's body glowed with her quirk. "I know we don't have our licenses but we can't just let these innocent people get hurt."
"I'm right there with yah!" He heard explosions and the familiar crackle of ice. His grin spread. "Looks like we're not the only ones thinking that way either."
Izumi started to smile as well… but it quickly faded when she saw the familiar faces of the villains. She'd only seen them once during the kidnapping, but she would never forget that shocking and frightening experience. Instinctively Izumi held the scar on her wrist and began to shake.
The league of villains were here? Why? What purpose did they have coming to this place?
"BAKUGOU!" She heard Shoto shout and unleashed his ice to block an incoming attack from the villain. "Get out of here!"
"No way in hell!" He sneered. "I'm not running. If these bastards wanna take me on, then bring it!"
"What was that?" Kirishima frowned when he heard that. "The villains wanna fight Bakugou?"
"No…" Dread caused the blood to drain from Izumi's face. She recalled Shigaraki's threat… the plan he'd divulged thinking she had no way to stop him. "Not fight…. KACCHAN!" Izumi started to run forward, but Kirishima yanked her back before she could get crushed under a flying display case.
"Run away! Run away you little ants! I'll still catch yah and kill yah!" Muscular laughed maniacally, blocking their path.
"Damn it… we need more help." Kirishima pulled out his cell phone and started to call Aizawa. He let go of Izumi's hand for a moment… just a moment… and she was gone. His head shot up, eyes following her every move. He would never forget that image of her… so strong, and brave, rushing headlong into battle without a thought of her own safety.
"MIDORIYA!"
~Post Battle~
Kirishima didn't think he could feel any lower or unmanly than he could at this point. His brief moment of fear and hesitance caused him to be separated from the girl he was supposed to protect. She'd had to fight Muscular on her own and was badly injured as a result.
And here he stood, with an agonizing grimace, at her bedside, unharmed but for some scrapes and bruises from evacuating the citizens and leaving Midoriya to fight all on her own. He could still recall hearing her voice screaming in agony as she fought tooth and nail to protect the citizens and her friends. He should have been fighting beside her, helping her in any way that he could… but he hadn't and now he was completely guilt ridden and ashamed of himself.
Izumi was beside herself, sobbing hysterically at the news that Bakugou had been kidnapped. She'd known that the league had planned to kidnap him in an attempt to recruit him into the league. She'd known, and yet had failed to protect him.
"I couldn't save him… my body just wouldn't move. He was right in front of me… but I just couldn't reach him." She sobbed, turning her head into the pillow trying to hide her face. "What if he dies? What if the league kills him? What am I gonna do? I'd ignored him for two days because he'd made me mad, but now I-" she sobbed again. "Kacchan…"
Something painful rolled inside his chest. A sick twist of guilt and jealousy that he instantly shoved down with disgust. Now was not the time to get jealous, he decided with a frown. He couldn't let things end this way. He couldn't let Midoriya feel guilty about something that had been completely out of her control.
"I won't let that happen. " He stepped forward, gently taking her injured hand in his. Her eyes slowly turned to face him, and he shook his head. "We can still save him, Midoriya. Don't lose hope."
"Kirishima-kun…" Izumi's tears spilled over her cheeks and he wiped them away.
"If anyone can save him, you can, Midoriya. Your hands..." he stroked her bandaged hands, recalling the time Bakugou had admitted that it was her hands he'd like most. "These beautiful, strong, and capable hands can still reach him."
They would save Bakugou… and this time, Kirishima decided with firm determination, he would NOT falter.
