Chapter 2 Travel
"Thank you Robin." Said Beast Boy as he held the token with his hands.
Inspecting the token, Beast boy saw that there was a small map on it. A green dot at the edge of the circular token.
"The green dot on the edge is the direction in which the abode of the true Master lies." Explained Robin in a calm voice.
"So I guess that's it? I will travel to the abode of the true Master and train to become stronger?" Stated Beast Boy with a voice filled with anxiety.
Nodding Robin said:
"That's all I can do for you. Become stronger so that the ghosts of the past won't haunt you anymore."
Seeing that Robin believed in him, Beast Boy nodded before grinning and left the Titans Tower by transforming into a bird.
Soaring into the air as a bird, the token hang around his neck.
Even if it was night, the starry night sky gave Beast Boy a feeling that there existed a light that would never dim.
And thus, Beast Boy advanced on his journey to travel and fix the gaping hole within his chest.
The milky way above his head seemed to guide him towards his destiny.
As Beast Boy continued to fly, he realized soon that it was quite tiring to fly nonstop.
The high of the start quickly faded and a feeling of tiredness overwhelmed him.
He had been active during the day and flying towards the unknown made him want to return to the safe and cozy rooms of the Titan tower.
Nevertheless the Titan Tower long disappeared behind the horizon and Beast Boy dreaded the disappointment he would feel if he gave up.
So without further hesitation, he decided to continue his journey.
But flying as a bird was quite tiring.
Especially a flight that would take more than a few hours.
Beast Boy saw the glittering of the stars reflected on the ocean.
'Is there a bird that can fly for a long time?' Pondered Beast Boy as he continued to flap his wings. 'This is getting hard.'
Staring at the ocean, Beast Boy continued to think:
'Should I transform into a fish? The token should be waterproof, right?'
As the exhaustion accumulated, Beast Boy decided to transform into the largest animal of the ocean.
A blue whale.
'No one should dare to mess with a blue whale, right?' Hoped Beast Boy inwardly as he closed his eyes and tried to sleep.
But what answered was nothing but the dark and silent ocean.
Beast Boy had never slept while being an animal.
Usually he would keep the transformation for a fight or some a short period of time during which the Teen Titans required him to fullfill some role.
But while he slept, Beast Boy usually assumed human form.
So he was quite nervous about sleeping as a Blue Whale.
However as Beast Boy was quite tired from the day as well as the journey, he quickly fell asleep as a Blue Whale.
Instinct seemed to kick in when Beast Boy fell asleep, as he assumed a vertical position.
The night passed peacefully as no ocean animal seemed to dare to mess with a Blue Whale.
When Beast Boy opened his eyes, he saw that the sun was rising. He had only slept for a few hours. Regardless, he felt energetic and awake.
As he rose above the surface, he was able to see the rise of the sun greeting the ocean.
It was a marvelous scenery especially as there was nothing to cover the light as it reflect on the surface of the ocean.
Transforming into a human, Beast Boy looked at the token before assuming the body of a Blue Whale once again.
He planned to travel the majority of the distance as a Blue Whale. As traveling as one of the largest animals to ever exist gave Beast Boy a feeling of safety that he now missed.
With steady speed, Beast Boy swam towards the direction the token pointed.
As he was a giant in the ocean, he occasionally was able to see some ocean animals fleeing in panic upon seeing his gigantic silhouette.
Smiling to himself, Beast Boy dreamt of coming back to the Teen Titans with more strength so he could awe his friends.
But while Beast Boy daydreamt as a Blue Whale, he didn't realize one thing.
How was he able to find food in the ocean?
This fact quickly turned into a question that had be answered soon.
As the stomach of Beast Boy demanded food.
Usually he long would have stilled his hunger with a piece of tofu or some other vegetables.
But sadly there was no supermarket where he could buy vegetables or fruits.
'What can I eat in the Ocean? Should I return back to the Titan Tower and get some food? But then I would have to swim back once again.' Pondered Beast Boy.
He was conflicted. His stomach was rumbling and screaming for food.
'There should be algae in the ocean, right? But they have to be cooked...' Thought Beast Boy as he continued to swim.
Unknown to him, he had arrived at a location where a huge natural event is about to happen.
Later, Beast Boy would deem this as a very important moment in his life.
While Beast Boy swam, he saw a herd of fish seeming moving in an agitated way.
Swimming closer, Beast Boy saw the reason.
It was cornered by many predators.
The fish swarm tried to desperately escape, but it couldn't as it was cornered by predators.
Occasionally, Beast Boy was able to see that birds dived into the fish swarm, picking one or two at a time before returning to the surface.
As an outsider, Beast Boy deemed the event as cruel.
'Those poor fishy. That's the reason I became a vegetarian. After all, how can I be a friend of animals when I eat them?' Thought Beast Boy.
He played with the thought of scaring the predators away. But he soon noticed that the fish swarm behaved in an unusual manner.
It didn't flee.
Instead it twisted and revolved around a certain position.
Nearing the fish swarm, Beast Boy realized that there was something he didn't anticipate.
The sheer scale of the feast.
'Is that…?' Thought Beast Boy as he looked closer at the place where the fish swarm revolved around.
With shock, he as a Blue Whale noticed that there was something besides the fish.
Tiny crustacean creatures were gobbled up by the fish.
With absolute fascination and horror, Beast Boy stared at the scenery.
Even while possessing the body of the Blue Whale, the buffet of feasts looked enormous.
Something deep within called out to Beast Boy.
Though it wasn't the primordial instinct of anger that he had when he transformed into the Beast.
Instead it was a call out to something natural. A call to feast.
Beast Boy slowly opened his mouth as a Blue Whale and began to release a bellowing sound.
Water poured into his mouth as Beast Boys instinct kicked in.
As if his stomach urged him to do something, Beast Boy began to press the water outside. Causing his mouth to slowly return to normal size.
Though the crustacean creatures known as Krill were filtered using the Baleen of the Blue Whale.
With each passing moment, Beast Boy tasted the meat of the Krill being picked by the filters of the Blue Whale.
