Chapter 2: The Date
It was friday evening when Juanita arrived at the Miller´s house. When she rings the bell, Miss Miller opened the door. " Hello, young lady! You must be Juanita, the girl with that sweet brother!" She smiled mildly, Juanita gives her a shy look and clings to her shoulder bag. " Hola, Miss Miller! It´s nice to meet you!" The chipettes pushed past their guardian, Brittany gives her a stern look. " Miss Miller, we don´t talk about Cody today! That was the deal!" Her guardian giggles. " Excuse me, you´re right! It´s just so sweet that a boy make all the girls nervous!" She bends down to Eleanor. " And you can´t await tomorrow, right?" The youngest of the chipettes blushes a bit and gets a dreamily look. " Oh yesss!" She sighs. Her sisters nudges her. Eleanor giggles and turned to her sisters and Juanita. " Well, lets go!" The girls walked up to their bedroom, with Juanita in tow. They showed her their room and the closet with their clothes, Juanita gets excited. " It´s so beautiful! I wasn´t shopping with my aunt until now, i wanna go to the mall soon!" Brittany smirks. " Well, we can make some window shopping tomorrow, before Eleanor´s date! Do you have a dress for the ball?" Juanita nodes with a grin. " Si, i got it here! I have to show you!" She gets her bag and pulls a red-black tiered dress out. The chipettes were excited. The dress reaches was long, ruched with short ruffled sleeves and was provided with embroidery. " My Mama and my Grandma made it!" Jeanette widen her eyes. " This is so...wonderful!" Eleanor and Brittany nodes and giggles. " It´s so sweeet!" They showed Juanita their dresses for the ball, than the four girls begin to get dressed in all the things form the closet. They posed before the mirror in the craziest combinations, only to laugh themselve silly. After an hour Miss Miller calls them to dinner. Later than they sitting on the couch and watching an romantic movie on tv. When they dressed up for sleeping, Juanita rolls out her sleeping bag. " It´s funny with you, chicas! I wish we become very good friends!" The girls giggles. Brittany takes the word. " I think, we already are good friends!" Her sisters affirmed, Eleanor smiles. " It´s nice that you went to the dance with Theodore! I felt a little bit guilty when he gets sad! You know, we were dating a few times, too! We know each others for so long, the chipmunks and us! I went to the valentine-ball with Theodore some times before, but were more close friends! And this friendship ist so great! He is so sweet and you can count on him evertime!" Juanita looks over to Jeanette and Brittany. " And what about you and the boys?" Jeanette looks a bit embarrassed to the side. " Simon is my best friend! Sure, he is very sweet, but so far...!" She shrugs. Brittany sighs. " What should i say? Alvin is my boyfriend! The thing is, he could be very exhausting sometimes!" Eleanor gives her a knowing look. " You sometimes too, dear sister!" Brittany rolles with her eyes. " I´m just demanding and want to be threaten like a lady! That´s not too much! But he tries to get better. In the past he was very selfish, bigheaded, chaotic and a little macho! He put down that all a bit! He´s cute, but sometimes he makes me mad! Well, you can´t have everything!" Juanita giggles. " There´s no perfect dream prince, unfortunately! Cody´s not perfect too, ass you see! He dreams the whole day!" Eleanor giggles. " That´s why he´s so sweet! And that a sweet boy like him gets so shy!" Juanita gets on an embarrassed smile. " When he has a crush, his knees trembling, even during the date! And if you want him to kiss you, you have to make the first move! He´s to shy for the first try!" Eleanor blushes and giggles again. Brittany widens her eyes. " Really? When the boys are a bit temperate, that´s okay, too fast is stupid! But when he wants to kiss you on the first date, he has to be very impressive! And sometimes it´s expected that the boys make the first move!" Juanita nodes. " My last novio did good with this! The right moment, the right words..." She looks a bit dreamily through the side. " But then he get a crush on another girl! We talked about it, he was sorry and i forgive him!" She takes a deep breath. " That it hurts sometimes, is a part of el amor!" She smiles. " Chicas, something else! Is Theodoro a good dancer? I want him to feel good at the ball and i live for dancing!" The chipettes noded, Jeanette takes the word. " That´s no problem! The three boys are all good dancers! It will be fine!" Juanita laughs. " Bueno!" Then, the chipettes told her some of the adventures with the chipmunks. Juanita can´t stop laughing and being amazed. The four had a funny night.
The mall was crowded like every saturday. The girls spending the whole afternoon here. Now they sitting in an ice cream parlor with their shopping bags, having a break. Juanita bought some blousons and skirts and some make up in a small shop, which Brittany showed her. They laughing and joking around, flirting with some boys in a fashion store and left them standing. Juanita takes a sip from her milkshake, as she saw, that Eleanor went very silent. She kneads her hands and bite her lip with a nervous grin. Even Brittany and Jeanette noticed it. All three of them looked at Eleanor and Brittany takes the word. " Everything´s alright, Eleanor? You look a bit...excited!" Eleanor nodes. " I´m really very nervous about tonight! I don´t know what i should do! When we watching the movie, when he brings me home and so on! What should i do then?" Juanita places her hand on Eleanor´s arm to calm her down. " Do what you heart tells you, Eleanor! Then you can´t do wrong! Cody should be very shy, and polite!If you..." She winks conspiratorial. "...want to kiss him, you must, how i said, take the lead!" Eleanor blushes and smiles. " Uhm, well, okay! Then i, uhm, know what to do! But i take it slow with that!" Her sisters giggles, Brittany turned to her. " Juanita ist right, Eleanor! Do what you wish to do, than everything will be fine!" Jeanette looks at the clock on the wall. " It´s half past three. We must get home soon, otherwise Eleanor can´t get ready for the date in time!" Brittany nodes. " We enjoy our ice cream and then we go! And a little bit too late is okay for a Lady!" All four giggling.
It was nearly six, as der doorbell of the Miller´s house rings. Juanita headed home, she wants to visit the chipettes on sunday. Brittany helped Eleanor with her outfit, Jeanette openend up the door. Cody stood outside. He wears a white shirt, black trousers and smiles nervous. " Hey Jeanette! Everything´s fine? Is Eleanor ready now?" She smirks. " Hey, Cody! Come in, it takes a moment!" Cody enters the hallway. Nervously he looks around, as he heard a voice. " Hello, young man! You have to be Cody! I´m Miss Miller!" The guardian of the chipettes standing in the door through the living room and smiles friendly. Cody gulps. " Hello Miss Miller! It´s a pleasure for me to meet you! Uhm, when must i bring Eleanor back?" Miss Miller gave him an mild look. " Well, ten woould be appro- priate! And no second later, young man! That´s significant for me!" " MISS MILLER!" Answers Brittany from upstairs. " Don´t be so strictly! The two can handle it! One little moment Cody! Eleanor comes every second!" She said. Miss Miller smiles, than she answers. " Brittany my dear! I just want to make sure, that Cody understands the great responsibility to take care for one of my girls!" Cody gets a bit more nervous. " Of-of course, Miss Miller, i bring her home safe and on time, i promise!" He stuttered. Miss Miller giggles. " You are friendly and very shy, i understand why Eleanor likes you!" Cody looks a bit embarrassed to the floor. Then Brittany walks down the stairs. " Hello Cody! Eleanor is rea-ha-dy!" She walks to Miss Miller, wraps her arms around her guardian and leans herself on. Cody nodes and looks upstairs. Eleanor came down. She wears a knee-long green dress with white spots, green flats and made her pigtail with green-white hairbands. She had modestly make up and smiles. " He-hello Cody!" He smiles back. " Hello E-eleanor! Y-you look gr-great!" She blushes a bit. " Tha-thanks! Should we?" He offers her his arm and she linked hers with. Both looked through Miss Miller, Brittany and Jeanette, all three of them stood in the door of the living room. " See you later!" Eleanor was seemingly happy. Her sisters smirking, Miss Miller smiles. " Have fun you two!" They waving, then Eleanor and Cody leave together.
In the movie theater they decided for a romantic comedy. Cody gets the tickets, drinks and a big bucket of popcorn. As he comes back from the snack bar, Eleanor giggles and take one of the mugs and the popcorn. " Uhm, you haven´t to carry all alone!" He smiles. Well, i just want to be a gentleman!" On the way to the movie theater they talked a lot and get a bit relaxed. Eleanor had told about her love for sports, Cody for his excitement for dancing. They get along well. As they went to the auditorium, Cody stopped and puts his stuff on a desk. " One moment, Eleanor, my shoelace is open!2 She stopped and waves. " No problem!" When Cody ties hies shoe, two boys passed Eleanor. They stopped and laughed . " Hey, is that enough popcorn for you? Well, i should say you had enough of it, chubby!" Said the bigger one, both bows when they laughed. Eleanor blushes and made a dejected face. Normaly she could take talking like that, but on a date... Before she said something, Cody came up, with a grim look on his face. Take that back, you idiot! You offend my date!" Both guys stared at him. " That´s your...date? Man, are you blind?" Codys eyes glare. " Just. Another. Word. And you regret it!" He gave them an challenging look. " By the way, where are your dates? Oh, you have none! No wonder, because you are jerks!" The bigger one frowned angrily, his friend was confused. " You have to apologize, pretty boy!" Cody snorts. " No, you have to apologize to my date!" Now both guys looked angry. The bigger one tries to hit Cody, who dodges easily, grabs the wrist of the guy and twisted it. The guy kneels. " OUCH! LET IT GO, MAN! PLEASE, OUCH!" Cody gives the other one an angry look. " Do you have anything to say?" The guy shakes his head and headed off. Some people watched the scene, but no one intervents. Cody turned back to the guy. " Well, what you say?" He twisted his hand a little bit more, the guy groans. " OKAY, OKAY! I´M SORRY, I´M SORRY!" Cody let him go. The boy falls on all four, the he stood up, trembling, and runs away. Some of the people applaused, Cody ignored them. He takes his hand on Eleanors arm. " Everything allright? Don´t give a thing on those guys, they don´t know better and are only jealous!" Eleanor nodes. " Yes, yes, i´m fine! Thank you, Cody!" She takes his arm with her hand and holded on. She didn´t get him go until they take their seats. The movie was funny and kitschy. But for both it doesn´t matter. They laughed, fool around and talked. At one moment, Eleanor leaned herself on Cody´s side. He puts his arm aorund her shoulders. She looked at him and smiled, he smiled back and blushes a bit. Man, was he shy, but she liked it.
After the movie they wandered along the street. They had enough time and were not in a hurry. Eleanor linked her arm with Cody´s. She looked at him. " Thanks, that you defend me! That was sweet! You´re brave, tagainst two guys! And you were so angry!" He nodes. " I like you, and what tht idiots said, made me mad! That´s so superficial and pathetic! For me you are so sweet and beautiful!" She blushes and blinks with her eyes. " This, this is so sweet of you!" She leans her head on his arm.
Music starts, as both walked down the street, arm in arm.
Chipettes: My heart beats loud, the world shine´s bright.
And in you eyes i see the light.
I praise the day when we both meet.
You hold my hand, your smile so sweet.
This moment, please, should never end.

When they arrived at the Miller´s house, Cody scratches his head. " Well, there, uhm, we are! The date was loevely!" Eleanor nodes with a smile. " It was!" Cody cleared his throat. " Then i see you monday in school? Can´t await it!" She nodes again, than she pulled his arm until his face was on her height. She kisses him on the cheek and giggles. " Thank you for the date and for bringing me home!" He blushes. " E-everytime!" Eleanor opened the front door and enters the house. She waves and closed the door. Cody sighs dreamily, than he turned around and wandered away. On his way home he smiles dreamily.
Sunday afternoon Juanita comes back to the chipettes. When she rings the bell, Eleanor rushes through the door. " JUANITA!" She screams with a laugh and hugs the other girl. " The date was so beautiful!" Juanita giggles and replies the hug. " I know, chica! Cody didn´t talk about anything else since breakfast!" The other two chipettes came to the dorr, both smirking all over their faces. Brittany looked at Juanita. " Well, you wear some of the new clothes! It looks great!" Eleanor takes a step back. " Of course!" Juanita wears a violet shirt, a white skirt and violet flats. She laughs and turned in a circle. " Hermosa, it´s so beautiful!" They walked in. Miss Miller passes them with a laundry basket and greets. " Hello, Juanita! Your brother was a real gentleman yesterday!" Juanita smiles. " Hola Miss Miller! Yes, my brother is a real caballero!" The girls went to the living room. Jeanette broods. " What are we going to do today?" Brittany shrugs. " Well, use the weather anyway!" Suddenly the doorbell rings again. " Who´s coming now?" The girls wondering. Jeanette heads through the door. She comes back, with the chipmunks in tow. The boys and the girls greeting each other. Brittany corrects her hair and hugs Alvin. " What´s up?" He smirks. " What are you doing today? There is a fair in the park, sponsored by the church. Delicious food, games and rides! Sounds good?" The girls overthinking it as Juanita claps her hands, excited. " That sounds nice. Can we go there? PLEASE!" The chipettes giggles. Brittany jumps of the couch. " Okay, let´s go!" Eleanor sighs. " A pity that Cody not with us!" Juanita smiles. " We can call him, then he comes directly through the park!" She stood up and links her arm with Theodore´s. " And i´m your date for today, Theodoro!" She laughs, as he blushes a bit. His brothers smirked. Juanita calls her uncle and talked with Cody. She ends the call with big grin on her face. " He heads to the park as soon as possible, he´s helping uncle Peter! Dios mio, was he happy! Bueno!" They said goodbye to Miss Miller, who waves to them with a smile, than they leave the house. On the way through the park Simon turned to Juanita. " I wanted to ask you something, Juanita! your brother, he is half mexican, half american, right?" She nodes. " Si, Mama is from Texas, uncle Peter is her brother! But Cody is a mix which the chicas love!" She winks at Eleanor, who giggles. Theodore followed up. " Eleanor, how was your date? I hope it was nice!" She nodes with a smile. " He defends me against two guys who offended me!" Theodore frowns angrily. " What? Who´s doing that? This idiots!" Eleanor sighs. " They joking about my weight, Cody interrupts them and chases them away!" She looks through Juanita. " Your brother is really brave!" The girl nodes. " Si, but sometimes carelss!" The park comes in sight. Cody stood at the main entrance. He wears his black shirt with jeans and sneakers. He smiles as he nodes. Brittany nodes to Eleanor and nodes. " How happy he is to see you again so soon!" Both giggeling. Cody greets them all and leds his arm to Eleanor. She smiles and links her arm with his. Theodore looks a bit sad for a moment, then Juanita takes his arm, so that he smiles again. She gives him a big grin. " Vamos, amigos! Lets have some fun!" They entered the park. The fair was placed around the little lake in the middle of the park. They began to look around. Alvin wins a stuffed bunny for Brittany at the shooting gallery, Jeanette takes a lottery ticket and wins an chemistry kit, Simon chooses the ticket. Cody wins a huge stuffed cat at the shooting gallery, what he offers to Eleanor. Indeed, he carried it around because of it´s size. Everyone laughs about how it looks, except Cody. Theodore tried can throwing, but had no luck. Juanita tried and wins, she let him decide what price they take. Theodore chooses a white stuffed bear, which he hands over to Juanita. She laughs and hugs him, what makes him blush. Then all eight wandered around, everyone with some cotton candy, and enjoy the day. Juanita and Theodore get along well, she likes him. And as she had to admit, he´s sweet somehow. When she smiles at him or takes his hand, he blushes and gets very embarrassed. And he was polite and funny. It was dawn, when they arrived at the Miller´s house. Juanita hugs Theodore and the chipettes. " Adios, amigos! See ya tomorrow!" Eleanor kisses Cody on his cheek, as they said goodbye. Then both walked home, waving until they out of sight. When the chipmunks went home, Brittany grabs Alvins arm and whispers. " I think, Theodore likes Juanita, somehow!" He smiles. " Yes. And she him too, somehow!" Both giggled. Then Brittany hugs him and kisses him on the cheek. " Thanks for the bunny, Alvie!" Then the boys leave, the girls walked inside the house. Eleanor puts down the stuffed cat and smiles. " I think Theodore hadn´t time to be sad today!" Her sisters smirked. Jeanette puts her hand to her chin. " It seems that Juanita likes him, how both were laughing!" Eleanor nodes. " How ironic, my date is Cody and Juanita is Theodore´s date for the dance!" Brittany throws herself on the couch and lokks at the stuffed bunny. " Man, that guys wrapped you two around the finger!" She giggles. Her sisters looked at her, Eleanor grumbles. " That´s not funny, Brittany, don´t joking about it!" Brittany sighs. " Sorry, i don´t want to! What should i say, my boyfriend´s called a heartthrob and is Mister Popularity himself! About Alvin and me the people talking bad all the time! But after some time you can handle it!" It runs fine with you two!" Eleanor smiles, Brittany nodes. " Since we had the conversation on christmas! It runs fine, except that Alvin can´t shut up sometimes and talkng trash! But how Juanita said, there´s no perfect dream prince!" She smiles happily. " But the thing with the bunny is really sweet!" Eleanor blinks. " Cody is so lovely, it´s unbelievable!" With a dreamily look she throws herself on the couch. Brittany smirks. " Next time we give you lovebirds some alone time! And Theodore with Juanita some, too!" Eleanor stares at her. " Now you joking again, whoever distributes...!" Brittany rolled her eyes. " Okay, you´re right, that point goes to you!" For a second they were silent, than all three giggled. Then they heard Miss Miller calling them for dinner. All three chipettes jumped up and went to the kitchen.
On monday Brittany puts some books in her locker during the first break, as she heard a familiar and hated voice. " Your ugly sister don´t deserve Cody! Even you´re not good enough!" Brittany takes a deep breath and turned around slowly, her hands on her hips. Missy stood before her, with her arms crossed, two of her following girls behind. The brownhaired girl gives her an angry look. Brittany smiles knowingly. Missy already had no date for the ball, well, if you are mean and evil..." It´s not your business what´s going on with them! And don´t call my sister ugly, UNDERSTOOD? How you dare? If you have a problem with Eleanor, you have a problem with me!" She snorts angry. " Cody must be very dumb to go out with you! You have still no date? Well, what could be the reason?" Missy puts her head toward Brittany. " Stupid girl!" She hissed. " I am the number ONE!" " Sure, i see how the boys follow you in crowds! Tell yourself how great you are! Eleanor ist a lot prettier and more lovely than you! And you know that! Leave the two alone, or you getting in big trouble!" Missy gives Brittany a death glare. " I hate you and your sisters! Everyone praise you, everyone likes you, and that for nothing! And you can´t even sing!" " You´re just so wrong!" Alvin steps beside Brittany, ona hand behind his back. With the other he takes the hand of his girlfriend. " The chipettes singing angelic, and they are pretty as angels! You on the other side must be send from hell, because you are to mean for them! Cody likes Eleanor, take it! You lost! Don´t harm Brittany and her sisters, you witch!" Now he gives Missy and the other two girls a death glare. The two cowards stepped back. Missy grumbles and turned around to them. " Bunch of idiots!" She hissed. Then she walked away. Suddenly she slipped and falls on her bottom. Around her all the kids laughing, as she stood up and runs away. Alvin gigggles and takes a folding sign with the lettering Caution! Wet Floor! from behind his back. " Well, that has to be!" Brittany laughs. " Why i´m not surprised about that prank? But this moment i love it!" She gives him an amused look. " Angelic? A nice compliment, so sweet you have to be more often! And thanks for the backing, Alvie!" She snuggles up to his shoulder, he schratches his head a bit embarrassed. " Well, it´s, uhm, true!" He blushes a bit. Brittany looks the direction were Missy runs. " I hope, he don´t try to take revenge on Eleanor and Cody!" Alvin squeezes softl her hand and smiles at her. " Then we will be there to take care of the two, are we?" Brittany smiles back. " We will!" She winks at him. " We should go to the class, the bell rings in a few seconds for the next lesson!" Holding hands both went in direction of the classroom. For a second they stopped, when Alvin replaces the folding sign. " Just before someone slips!" Both giggled when they walked on.
Well, i hope you like it. And i know, my english grammary is not the best, but i try and learn. And how in my first story, i make references to some episodes of the 80s series. I think i find a way to put the events of the series in a chronological way. For me, in season 7 the characters are around 12, 13 years old. It fits with some of the events of the series that they getting older from season to season. The songtext ist my own creation again, it´s called " Crush by my side" and i hope you like it. Last question, what do you think of Juanita and Cody? I like both characters, Juanita is my favourite. Maybe i give them a spin-off story in the 80s universe, if you want to.
