Chapter 2

The RainWing was drained having multiple small puncture marks having no blood in him anymore. His scales were a bland green color with foggy eyes that indicated death. What was strange were the puncture marks on him, instead of just a small single puncture, there were multiple in a shape that he had seen before. Parrot looked at the bite mark that the strange bug had made, the same shape as it was on the RainWing. They can do that!? He realized if there were more last night then he would've been killed. He was lucky that the bugs didn't drain every drop of blood from him.

"What happened!?" as Queen Grandeur landed near to where the dead RainWing was. Parrot backed up from the scene, he was afraid of Queen Grandeur with her disciplined posture and regal look. She seemed too strict and it felt like she could just yell at him at any time. Her eyes widened as she saw the dead dragon lying there. "Oh, dear!" She looked around looking for somebody that might be responsible for this. That was when she laid her stern, focused eyes upon Parrot, noticing the bite mark on his snout. "Everyone get back to what you were doing early, I'll deal with this!" The other RainWings shrugged and flew off to either nap or train with the dragonets. He was about to leave spreading his wings out hoping her glance didn't mean trouble for him but alas she called him out. "Dragonet can you come over here?" He turned to her walking up towards his queen. "What is your name?"

"Parrot," He said.

"So Parrot, why do you have a weird puncture wound like Orangutan?"

He gulped before he responded to the old queen: "It's a bug bite from a weird bug last night." She eyed him suspiciously.

"And what did this bug look like?"

"It looked like... like a mosquito but... it had no eyes, multiple needles, and... it had a bulb-like white light." Her glare felt like it had pierced through his eyes freezing him in place.

"You may leave now, Parrot," he nodded before turning to fly off to meet with Parakeet. But he still felt her steely gaze on him following him through the trees. For some reason he felt like Grandeur will see him often now with the death of Orangutan but he just pushed the feeling out of the way so he can focus on the fruit collecting that he will be doing.

He landed on the rough surface of the tree branch with Parakeet napping on the side of the tree, he moved his tail in front of his face causing him to wake up: "HUH WHAT!" Parakeet started flailing around as he woke up. He looked up to see Parrot's tail in front of him near his snout. "I told you (yawn) to never do that!" he got up lazily with Parrot dropping down in front of him. "Anyways, you know what to do." Parakeet got back into his napping area.

"Parakeet?" Parrot asked, taking a step towards the older lazy RainWing.

"Yes?" He grumbled shifting around to get comfortable.

"I've been thinking about what you had said about picking fruits and berries last night."

"Go on,"

"I think that there is a better way to collect them that isn't just going fast."

"It still works, Parrot."

"Yeah, but if we worked together, go to the richest bushes, and pick multiple in one go we could get more."

"I don't feel like it," Parakeet said, getting up to look at him. "Maybe do it yourself and then we compare whose idea was better."

"Fine then," Parrot said, taking a basket before running off to collect the berries. He ran to the one with the most and began doing his way, he picked multiple stems of some blueberries and tore them off to place them into the basket. He repeated this process over and over but it wasn't as fast as he thought it would be. I need someone else to help me collect the fruits and berries. He climbed a tree and was about to tear the apple stems right off the branch when someone asked:

"Do you need help?" He turned to see a cute teal and yellow-scaled RainWing. Her eyes were a clear white so he could see her irises clear as day. And her posture was almost as regal as Grandeur but without all that seriousness in it.

"Um... yeah I could use some help," Parrot replied with his scales turning to a pink-green color. He began blushing just by looking at her. By the moons! What is this feeling? She stopped herself from giggling by placing her talon up to her snout. "I don't mind your privacy but... what is your name?"

"My name is Droplet and yours is-"

"Parrot!" he blurted out before covering his snout. "My name is Parrot."

"Alright, then Parrot. How are you picking those apples exactly?" she climbed up next to him. There is no doubt that she was cute but also beautiful. "Um... well you have to move your talon quickly through the stems with the most apples to collect to preserve time." He showed her an example by moving his talon right over the most apples before just swiping his talons to cut multiple apples free right into the basket.

"Oh, let me just get a basket and I can help," She ran back while he picked more berries and fruits. She came back doing the same thing as he did. Over time their baskets were overfilled with produce.

"This is a lot more than what I did before, thanks Droplet." Parrot said, carrying his basket.

"Your welcome, here's the other basket," She gave him the second basket before walking off. He wondered where her instructor was and why they weren't teaching her things.

"Droplet?"

"Yes?" she turned back to look at him.

"I'm just wondering... where is your instructor?" Droplet turned to a white, gray, and gray-blue color which signified sadness dropping her eyes to the ground. "He was the RainWing who died today, they're still trying to assign me to another RainWing to help gather fruit."

"I'm sorry, I'm really am," he didn't know who the other RainWing was but for some reason, he was mourning with Droplet.

"It's okay, you get used to it when you others pass away," she passed him the basket before walking off, possibly to another thing. He went back over to his instructor and placed the baskets right in front of him.

"You're back and-" He looked at the basket over a bountiful of fruits and berries.

"Maybe you can help me out now?" Parrot asked. Parakeet grumbled before replying.

"Fine! We'll try it your way later just let me nap in peace alright?" Parakeet said before dozing off. The morning light had turned to the afternoon as Parrot had joined with his napping instructor.

"Oh... you're here!" Macaw said, laying on his side. "You know the technique, lay on your side, place your head above your arms and you should be good. If it doesn't work try the other one." Parrot nodded laying on the ground following his instructions, reviewing everything he did which led to a deep nap. I actually did it! I did it correctly! He managed this for a while until a tremor hit. The ground began shaking jolting Parrot awake, he looked towards Macaw who had also been affected. The trees began shaking violently with some even tumbling down.

"It seems Shiny might not be the only one with this problem now!" Macaw grumbled when the tremor finally died down. "Parrot... good job, you actually listened for once." Parrot had noticed the hole in the distance, it had gotten larger than before. He noticed something moved along the rim of the hole, something strange and unnatural.
