Denji's Viewpoint.
Ms. Makima had asked Aki and me to go out and buy some noodles since she ran out at her home. Makima had planned to make us dinner so we can celebrate me moving to Aki's place. Right now, we're about to enter the market when Aki told me to follow him to a small alleyway.
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
"We're just going to talk about something important." He said in a cold tone.
As we stood in the dark alleyway, I took a look around the smelly, small, claustrophobic place. It's only been four hours when Makima had found me sleeping in a place similar to this with my dog, Ponchita. And it feels like I'm being thrown back here.
"What are we gonna talk abo-" I couldn't finish my sentence since Aki's fist collided with my face.
I felt a huge pain strike my cheeks as I was sent tumbling down the garbage bags. I placed a hand on where he had punched me as I focused my eyes on his cold figure. I groaned in pain as I tried to stand up, but was kicked down by Aki.
"Stay the hell out of my way. I'm not going to let you ruin my life." He looked at me with disgust. As if I never belonged to live under the same roof as him and Ms. Makima... As if I belonged in this wretched place.
He kicked a small plastic bottle which hit my face. "Screw off, I'll just tell Ms. Makima that you ran off."
Aki lits his cigar as he now started walking away from me.
This bastard...
I'm not gonna let you have your fun!
I clenched my fist as I began to stand up. My hand helped me push myself off the ground, helping me maintain my balance. As he was now making a distance, it seems like he hasn't realized that I'm already preparing for a counterattack. With that, I gritted my teeth and dashed towards Aki.
"Hey, asshole."
Four Hours Earlier.
"Really?" I made sure that what I heard was real. Some guy just told me about a job where I can get some thousands of money. And with my current situation, I am in dire need of cash.
I'm currently living with Ponchita, A stray dog that I took in when I met him in the cemetery. I lost my parents at a young age, so Ponchita is all I got right now.
"Yeah! Come with me." The guy chuckled as I began following him.
I carried Ponchita in my arms. I looked at him and see him smiling at me with his tongue out. I could hear his huffing breath as we now entered the empty warehouse.
"Sooooo. What's the job?" I took a quick look around. I felt my skin shiver as I felt like someone was watching me. "This place is creepy as shit, dude."
"You know, Denji boy" I turn to the man. "You have our thanks."
I haven't even finished my job yet this guy was now monologuing?
"Obedient like a dog... Happy to work for cheap treats like a dog too."
The fuck is this guy saying?
I raised an eyebrow at him. Before I could speak up, he raised his index in order to stop me from shitting him. "The thing is though, dogs like you will cost a bit of cash. Just a bit, though."
"Wha-" I took a punch to the chest as I let go of Ponchita. I did not understand what was going on, but all I knew is that I needed to fight back.
"The hell, old man?" I tried to get back up, but I felt a firm wood hit my head.
"I'll be sure to take care of yer dog, Denji boy." I heard a sinister laugh as I see him smirking at me one last time before I blackout.
I saw myself in a frozen forest.
The leaves looked like icicles, the snow was beginning to bury me deep.
I felt my spine shiver as I looked around for Ponchita...
Ponchita... Where are you?
Come back... I can't afford to lose you.
You're all I got, Ponchita!
"Is he still alive?" I heard a man's voice. I jolted my head upwards and saw three people. There were two guys and one woman. She wore a suit and her hair... Was beautiful. Her blood-red hair was blown away by the small breeze that entered the empty warehouse, preventing me from seeing her face.
"There's your answer." She said. "How long was he locked in here?"
"About an hour. We received a report from a civilian that some boy had gone missing. I'm guessing he's the one... But the description said that the boy wasn't blond." The man replied.
"Can we track them, Chief Makima?" The other guy asked.
I wasn't interested in their conversation. All I wanted was to find Ponchita. I think he's still in this warehouse. I didn't see him escape earlier, so I'm guessing he was also trapped here with me, right?
"P-Ponchita..." I groaned as I balanced myself. I scanned my surroundings but all I could see was pure darkness. Nothing more, nothing less.
In front of me stood three police officers, I could tell by their uniform. If they are police, maybe I can file a report for my missing dog...
"H-Help." I fell to the ground. I reached for the woman in the middle as I saw her bend down.
She took my hand and slowly assisted me to stand. We did it slowly, and I felt tears run down my cheek in pain.
All my sanity was set on finding Ponchita. If I don't find him now, I'll totally lose my mind.
I stood straight, now getting a clear view of her face. I couldn't let a single word out my mouth. I was so confused that I just started crying in front of the woman. Snot was sliding down my nostrils as she walked closer and pulled me to a big, warm hug.
"Don't worry, it's all okay." I hear her whisper as I clung to her tight, feeling the softness of her chest.
"B-b-b..." I force myself to speak up.
"Hush. Don't say a word. You're coming with me, okay?" There was a mix of tenderness and dread in her voice that I couldn't help but just obey what she said.
"I'm sorry." Those words weren't for her. It was for my dog who I just lost.
"So you don't have anyone other than your dog?" Makima asked me. We were already done with the introductions so we now rode the small van. She was taking me to custody, where she was planning on looking for a foster parent for me.
"Y-yes..." My head was still hurting from the damage I took earlier.
"We'll find him. The police are after the yakuza as well." She smiled.
"Y-Yakuza? How are they involved?" I questioned her. She only nodded as if she just figured out something.
"You didn't know you were working for the Yakuza?" She leaned forward.
"I was working for what?" I heard what she said, but I clearly didn't get what she meant. "Yakuza, you said?"
"Indeed, the man you were running errands with, was an executive member of Yakuza. He was planning on selling your body parts to the black market." She explained without hesitation.
I jolted backward. Shocked and confused, I didn't know what to respond to. So I just looked outside the window and bit my lip.
Fucking traitors.
"Well, you don't need to worry about anything. Seems like you haven't had the slightest of clue that they were part of a Yakuza." She arched her back. "We'll be asking some questions, and you're going to answer with the truth later, okay?"
I nodded, my eyes fixated on Makima's chest.
Ponchita... I want to touch em, buddy.
As we arrived at the station, I was interrogated by the officers about what really happened and my real connection with the old man. I had told them I was only just an errand boy for him. He gives me allowance after I finish a task, and that's how my life went.
Makima and I stood outside the interrogation office. I had just finished answering the questions for Makima's subordinate.
"What's Ponchita's breed?" She asked.
Breed? What does that mean?
"What's a breed?" I raised an eyebrow at her.
I just saw her smile at me then just gestured me to follow her.
"Um, do you like dogs too, Ms. Makima?" I asked her
"I love dogs." She replied, keeping her posture forward as I followed her. "You don't have any place to go home to, right?"
I hummed in response as we entered a room.
"How about staying in my friend's house for a while?" She then turned to me. I wasn't able to stop myself so our chest bumped at each other.
If that means I'll get to feel them...
WHY NOT?
"SURE."
I launched my left foot as I folded my knees, aiming for Aki's balls. I heard him cry for help as I covered his mouth then pushed him down.
"You sure are a nice guy, hey..." I wiped my sweat away as I smirked at his petrified appearance.
I got closer to him as I took a deep breath.
"WHEN!" I kicked him in the balls again.
"I FIGHT!" and again.
"A GUY!" aand again.
"I ONLY!" and again.
"AIM!" and again.
"FOR!" and again...?
"THE CROTCH!" and the last one.
I caught my breath as I placed my hand on my chest. I felt my tummy growl as I haven't eaten anything this day. I'm hungry as fuck.
"Whew! A lot happened this day. I almost got my body parts chopped and sold, I lost my dog, Makima took me in, and now I'm here kicking a guy I just met in the balls! Ain't that wacky?" I said to him as he didn't bother replying.
"You okay there?" I flipped him over to see him blacked out.
Sheesh. I might've wrecked your future generations, buddy.
"Wait right there, I'll buy us some noddles," I said to the blacked-out guy as I coughed up the money in his pockets.
"See ya later, don't go anywhere," I said as I now made my way to the small market.
Something's bothering me...
I don't know why. What is it?
I now entered the market. I was mesmerized by the place since it was my first time here. And now my goal is to find and buy some noodles. However, there's a teeny problem...
What the hell do noodles look like???
I had a hard time asking where I can get noodles, and buying them on the thing they called the counter. Since I got lost in the market, I was actually worried about what happened to Aki. That bastard might've been kidnapped by some gangs or some shit, so I had to hurry up. Eventually, I got on the counter and paid for the noodles that I bought. I also grabbed some of these red cans they called COLA. Though, I don't know what it was. It just looked cool so I bought it.
After that, I went back to Aki and decided to carry him back to Makima's place.
