Chapter 2: New Year, New Look, New Me

"A burglary during broad daylight isn't ideal. But now's the only time i can get away from Bruce and he won't get suspicious." Selina thought to herself as she examined her target.

The finest jewelry store in the city. From the roof of the adjacent building overlooking the store, she saw all the precious goodies being locked away. Some of those jewels will sit there forever waiting for a proper suitor. She felt it was only right to relieve such beautiful items from their glass prison.

She made some upgrades to the outfit she wore the last time she tried a heist. She now sported a full body leather suit, a cap with two cat shaped ears on it, a pair of red goggles to mask her identity, and she was armed with a bullwhip. Just Incase someone needed to be taught a lesson.

It was a new year. New look. New her.

Due to It being daylight out she figured she might as well go with the loud and proud approach. Was it smart? Probably not. Was there a better way? Absolutely. But Selina wanted to be seen and heard as this new persona. To be feared as this new persona.

She walked in like she owned the place. Everyone flashing her confused looks. Like she got lost on her way to a fetish dungeon. Without a word, she pulled out her whip and lashed it at all the glass cases shattering them, and triggering the alarms. People backed away and ran out screaming.

One bold security guard tried to stop her. But he was met with a lash of her whip across his chest, and a foot to his temple to put him asleep.

Selina wasted no time to take whatever she could stuff into her suit.

One of the women who worked in the store marched right up to her with some misplaced liberal arts confidence. "Hey you have to pay for that!"

Selina stared daggers into this woman's soul. She raised her hand and showed off her razor sharp claws on her finger tips. The other woman felt a chill crawl up her spine and backed away.

"That's what I thought." Selina hissed.

Once she had all the pretty items she wanted, she made her exit. Her adrenaline was cranked to the max. The sirens behind her. The free running along the rooftops. It was intoxicating. She hadn't felt a rush like this ever before.

Selina was no stranger to thievery. She did it for years to survive. She was living fine on her own prior to meeting Bruce. But once she fell in love with him, the need to steal was gone. She had everything she ever wanted with him. She couldn't care less about the luxurious life. She just cared about his love and affection. But after her miscarriage, she felt a true emptiness inside of her. And going back to thievery helped her fill it.

But not just small scores here and there, no. She needed bigger and bigger scores. It was an addiction. And it was overtaking her. She just didn't realize it.

"Okay let's take attendance." Dr Langstrom the biology teacher at Justice High examined the roster. "Dinah Drake?"

"Here!" She shouted loudly.

"Ah!" Dr langstrom flinched. "Tone it down a bit." He continued with the roll call.

Dinah's booming voice, that she had a hard time controlling, earned her the nickname "the Canary." She'd probably wouldn't be so popular if she wasn't so beautiful.

"Selina Kyle?"

"Here." She had just snuck back into school after her morning heist. She took a seat next to Bruce.

"Why are you so sweaty?" He asked.

"I had gym last class." She lied.

"Bruce Wayne?"

"Present."

"Vicki Vale?"

"Also present." She was sitting on the other side of Bruce. She looked at him and flashed him a playful smirk. Selina noticed this, and didn't like it one bit.

Selina talked with Bruce after class.

"Vicki really developed over the summer." She commented.

"Yea." Bruce nodded. "She really did."

"What was that smirk she gave you about?"

He shrugged. "She was probably just teasing me for saying 'present' instead of 'here'."

"So the girl who's been crushing on you for years finally grows into her body and is suddenly all confident with you?"

Bruce gave Selina a teasing grin. "Don't tell me you're jealous, Selina."

"Please." She playfully scoffed. "You're more likely to admit Tom Brady is the best quarterback ever than cheat on me."

"It's Joe Montana or no one."

"7 rings."

"2 losses to Eli Manning and 1 to Nick Foles."

"How about the fact..."

"Hey Bruce," Vicki interrupted then. "I'll see you next class."

Selina didn't enjoy being interrupted like that. Or the way Vicki's behind swayed side to side as she walked away.

"So you have next class with her too?"

Bruce chuckled. "I didn't write the schedule." He graver her a reassuring kiss. "Selina, I'm sure she's over me big time." He gave her one last kiss before heading off.

"I hope so." She thought to herself.

At the end of the school day Selina caught up to Bruce who was at his locker. They were talking about what they should do the rest of the day when Bruce suddenly stopped moving. He had a thousand yard stare and was motionless. Like he just looked Medusa in the eyes and had turned to stone.

"Bruce?" She asked. "You okay?"

He caught a whiff of it. The perfume she wore. To everyone else it was just a sweet scent that would go unnoticed in the thinning hallways at the end of a school day. Then he heard it, the click of her stilettos as she made her way closer and closer to him. The scent of her perfume getting closer as well.

"She's here." Bruce said softly.

"Who?" Selina turned and saw her coming. "Ah hell."

It was Talia. Bruce's former teacher who had pressured him into relations with her. She had a fake innocent smile on her face as she walked over to him.

"Hey Miss Al Ghul, what are you doing here?" Selina greeted her. "I thought you were supposed to stay 200 yards away from any school or Chuck E. Cheese's."

"Funny." Talia responded. She turned her attention to Bruce. "I like the beard." Bruce didn't respond. Her smile faded slightly. "I just wanted to apologize for everything that happened last year. Is it possible we could start over?"

Bruce stared her down for a second. "No chance in hell."

Talia sighed. "Look, Bruce we're about to see each other a lot and I'd like there to be no friction between us."

"Wait, what?!" He asked.

"I just got a job as the librarian here."

Bruce and Selina couldn't believe. "How in the actual fuck?" Selina shrieked.

"Could we maybe talk it over. Somewhere a little more... private."

"Whatever you have to say, could be said right now in front of Selina."

Talia sighed. "I'm so sorry for what I did to you, Bruce."

Bruce shook his head. "Your acting is awful."

Talia's innocent tone became hostile. "You son of a bitch."

"That didn't take long." Bruce sighed.

"What is wrong with you! I'm trying to be the adult here!"

"Yea sure you are!"

Selina stood their awkwardly as a yelling contest soon took over them.

"Excuse me I'm trying to talk to my Ex here!" Talia yelled at Selina.

"Oh I'm your Ex am I? Because it's always a relationship when the woman does it."

"You loved every second of it and you know it. I taught you everything you do for this slut."

"You're insane!" Bruce shouted back.

"I'm insane? Who was it that set my bed on fire that one night? Riddle me fucking that!"

"I did! Is that what you wanna hear?"

Talia looked deep into his eyes. "You drive me fucking crazy." She leaned into him for a kiss. He leaned away while Selina forced herself between her and Bruce.

"Get away from my man you bitch!"

Talia pulled away. "Fine, whatever! I don't even want you anymore. You're not even a real man. And by the way, I faked it half the time we did it."

"What a coincidence." Bruce responded. "Because I faked it every time."

Talia flared her nostrils and clinched her fist.

Selina took Bruce's hand and shot a mocking glare at Talia. "He and I never have to fake anything." She said as she escorted her Bruce away from the evil siren.

Later that night at home. Bruce and Selina were in bed and were about to relieve each other of the back to school anxiety. That was until Alfred burst in.

"Separate rooms." He demanded.

Bruce and Selina stared at him for a second and began laughing. But once they saw he was serious they stopped.

"Wait are you serious?" Selina asked. "Alfred, we've done it on just about every square inch of this house. Even where you're standing right now."

"Ew. Doesn't matter. Miss Kyle, please to your other room."

"I can't believe this!" She protested as she got out of bed naked.

"Ugh." Alfred looked away. "And would it kill you to wear some pajamas?"

She began getting dressed into a tank top and shorts while Bruce began arguing.

"Alfred, this is ridiculous and you know it."

"Consider this tough love. It's your senior year! You two will not have another pregnancy scare until you have both walked across that stage on graduation! Now separate rooms."

Bruce stood up. "Alfred I'm saying this because I love you. Fuck that!"

Alfred shot a menacing glare at the boy he raised like his own son. "Go to bed right now!!!"

Bruce never seen him like that. It was honestly frightening for the young man who didn't fear anything... except bats.

"Yes sir." He said as he got back into bed.

Selina reluctantly made her way to the guest room thanks to Alfred's by the arm escort.

Now they were away from each other in their separate rooms. Alfred was in his room between the two of theirs. No use trying to sneak by him. He had the ability to wake at a moments notice thanks to his time in the Royal Marines.

They both realized they won't be able to sneak over to each other... but maybe they could sneak out. Just not as Bruce and Selina.
