Warning: Toxic Family Members and Speech. There's a lot of familial conflict in this story so just be aware. Also, sorry if the characters seem a bit OOC. Hopefully, they're not too bad but sometimes I lose track.

"Attention everyone! Family. Friends. Wanda", Mama Cosma sneered her mother's name. "It's great to have you all here. Well, most of you anyways. Anyhow, I'd like to say that it's been great getting to know the people in my little boy's life, even if you were not exactly the type of people I'd imagine…"

Cassia squirmed slightly in her seat as Mama Cosma continued with her speech. Why does she have it out for mom so bad? Did she do something to her or something? She heard Mama Cosma, but was barely paying attention, hoping that the meal wouldn't take too long and they could all go home and get back to barely speaking to each other. Man does she ever stop talking?

"Ah! Finally! Here come the salads!", Mama Cosma exclaimed, taking her seat back. The fairy waiters passed around 2 glass bowls of Caesar salad, one for each side of the table. Cassia took a small amount of salad and a roll before passing them both to her mother.

"Sweetheart? Are you sure that's enough for you? Aren't you hungry?", Papa Cosma asked, forcing the salad bowl on his side to pass towards her.

"It's called an appetizer, dear. She doesn't need to be eating that much.", Mama Cosma sneered, glaring slightly at him.

"W-Well I was just making sure she was eating."

"I'm fine Grandpa Cosma, really.", Cassia spoked up, trying to focus her attention on her plate.

"Are you sure, darling?"

"Yes. I'm good. Thanks.", Cassia grunted, before shoving more salad into her mouth. Doesn't he know I don't want the entire salad for myself.

"Well, I think you might need just a little bit more. I don't want you leaving hungry. Here..", he forced the bowl into Cosmo's arms, instructing him to give her a bit more, despite Cassia's annoyed sigh. She returned her attention back to her salad, focusing on pouring the salad dressing and ignoring Mama and Father Cosma's nagging.

"He means well. A little extra salad won't kill you, I don't think.", her father started, "There was that one time in Kidney land.."

"Ew gross Dad. Maybe not at the table."

"Eh what's the worse that could have happened?", Grandpa Fairywinkle yelled from Cassia's right, slurring her sentences slightly, "I remember this one time Wanda threw up all over Blonda's prom dress.."

"Mom!", Wanda yelled, face turning red.

"What? It's funny! It happened 12,000 years ago! Get over yourself!"

Yeesh. No wonder I don't hear about Grandma Fairywinkle that much..

"Ey leave her alone, Yolonda! This is supposed to be a nice afternoon. And I would slow down the drinking if I were you. Remember what happened at the last company party I hosted?", Grandpa Big Daddy asked.

"Ha. I got no idea what you're talking about."

"Of course you don't."

"Wuzzat supposed to mean?"

"Can we not fight?", Wanda asked, "Cassia's right here."

"No Really, Miguel! What do ya mean? We're all here trying to have a nice night and you're hare just trying to stop me."

"I ain't trying to stop nothing! I'm just saying to tone it down with the wine is all. We're with our kid's family for cryin' out loud!"

"Aw come on. You're always so stressed, even when you're not at work. Come on, have some wine.."

Cassia groaned again as her grandparents begin to bicker on both sides. Her parents gave her a soft, worried look on their face, as they continued to eat in silence. Man, if only she took her phone. But then again, that might have caused even more fighting. She sat there wondering if she should say something. Maybe change the subject? Eh..what's the worse that could happen? She was already uncomfortable.

"Uh..So..what did you guys think about today's weather.", Cassia asked. Cassia Cosma..of all the things you could talk about..you chose the WEATHER?! No wonder you only have 1 friend.

"Cassia please. Not while the adults are talking.", Mama Cosma said, before turning back towards her husband. Well Dang..

"I-I just think you can come across as a bit insensitive.", Papa Cosma squeaked, his shoulder muscles tensing up as he spoke.

"Really Linnie? How about the time you left our son when he was a baby? Don't you think that was 'a bit insensitive'?"

"I-I didn't have my wand..and I did come back, but every time I would try to fly back inside, you'd try to swat something at me."

"Oh no, don't pin this on me Mr. You Need to Eat More! It's lovely how you care more Cassia than our own son!"

"I do love him! It just seemed like you two were closer. I remember after I turned back, I tried to take him to the store, and he said he'd rather stay with you. And when I asked if he needed help with his homework, he would want you instead. Not to mention, all the times he preferred you to tuck him into bed."

"Well, it's not my fault he's a Mama's Boy. Maybe you should have worked harder."

"Mama stop..", Cosmo whined, before getting cut off.

"Maybe you should have been there for him more. Then you'd have a closer relationship."

"I-", Papa Cosma stammered, before looking downwards, his eyes getting rather watery, "Yeah. You're right hun. I'm sorry."

Cassia finally started to feel her stomach to bubble once again, but even worse than before in the car. All the arguing, the crying, the blaming. Cassia knew her family was far from perfect, but not it seemed like they were barely functional at all. She stopped looking at her father's end at the table, plugging her ears as she took the last few bites of her salad.

Her mom's parents also continued to argue about their family business, moving on to who should be financially responsible for the business should they retire. The only one not phased by all the fighting was Aunt Blonda, who was now focused on how she looked in her handheld mirror, smiling and cleaning her shiny teeth. Man, it's a good thing she's not related to Mama Cosma. If she had sat any closer, she would have thrown a fit.

At long last, their meals had arrived, but Cassia's stomach continued to growl as the adults continued to chat, now hardly able to keep up with who's saying what. Not that it was really much of her business, but couldn't they at least discuss these things in private? Well, at least my mom's side is starting to settle down a bit. Grandma Fairywinkle continued to drink while Grandpa Big Daddy grumbled slightly, stabbing his fork into his alfredo.

"Sweetie? Your food's getting cold. Are you feeling alright?", Papa Cosma whined again, making Cassia groan internally.

"Yes. I'm fine."

"Are you sure? You seem upset. Is the food not warm enough? Are you feeling sick? You're not running a fever, are you?"

"Oh there you go, babying her again! You know, if you had put this much care in our son like you are for Cassia, maybe he wouldn't have ran off and married that pink skunk over there!", Mama Cosma snapped, looking directly at Wanda.

"Excuse me?", Wanda snapped, ignoring Cosmo's pleas to let it go. Oh god..

"You heard me.", Mama Cosma shrugged, taking a long sip of her own wine.

"Mom. Just stop.", Cosma sighed, looking desperately at his father for help, who was shaking violently now.

"No no! I'm the one who put this together, I think I've earned the right to say what I want. Wanda-"

"Ok, you know what? Can you just leave my mom alone!", Cassia snapped, getting the attention of everyone at the table, "I don't understand why you hate her so much? What did she do to you? What did I do to you?"

"Other than act disrespectful to me right now, you haven't done anything dear."

"I- ugh..I'm not trying to be rude, Grandma Cosma. It's just that Mom didn't do anything and you're being really mean."

"Oh? So I'm the mean one even after I decided to invite you all out. I see how it is."

"That's not what I-UGH!", Cassia groaned, getting out of her seat and headed towards the front door.

"Cassia? Sweetheart wait! where are you going?", Papa Cosma asked, turning away from his wife for a second.

"Away from all of you!"
