Hinata wiped the tears from Kenshin's eyes. "It's alright, Kenshin. It's over now. You pain is over."

"My pain..." Kenshin said softly. "The battle isn't over. I have to—" Kenshin tried to get up and groaned, falling back down. "What did you do to me?!"

"I stopped you." Hinata said softly. "The war is over. There's no need for you to keep killing."

"I see..." Kenshin said. "That was foolish. If you weren't fast enough this one could've killed you."

Hinata smiled and put a hand on his shoulder. "It would be a hundred years before you were fast enough to stop a Hyuga."

"This one cannot tell if you are bragging or not." Kenshin mused.

Hinata laughed.

Kenshin liked her laugh. She had saved him, and he still didn't know why.

Hinata came over and set a plate in front of him. It hurt a little to move to eat, but Hinata watched him, quick to move in when he was hurting.

"Why are you doing this?" Kenshin wondered. "You saw what this one has done. The killing..."

"That does not matter." Hinata said softly. "You are a good person Kenshin. Use your sword to protect those that you love."

Kenshin stared at her, and Hinata kissed his cheek. How had she known what he planned to do?
