Eighteen Months Later

December 5, 2013

Billionaire Barry Allen stood in the elevator of S.T.A.R. Labs as it ascended to the upper levels of the facility, two strands of his silky black hair partially covered his sight. He had been on a hunch for the thug Goldface who was in Central City, he had been working on an investigation to hunt him down. His nightly activities did leave quite a few thugs bruised and broken in the hospital before they went to jail but he didn't kill them. He never killed anyone. That was the one rule he had, the one rule he would never break, the one line who would never cross.

The elevator stopped as it beeped before the doors opened as Barry stepped out, dressed in dark blue suit with a white shirt underneath it. He was currently on the 600th floor, not that there were 600 levels, of the S.T.A.R. Labs facility. Barry walked away from the elevator and through the halls of the facility, making his way to the cortex. The labs and facilities were all owned by Barry, who also owned all of the stock, he had planned on sharing it with Cisco, Caitlin and the others but they didn't want any of it. It brought back too many painful memories for them.

One of those memories was Joe. And Iris. Two more reasons Barry had suffered horrible pain and he did the one thing he always did when he suffered from pain: he ran away. He sold the old West-Allen house and gave it away, it flooded Barry's mind with too many memories, memories that were nothing more than poison running in his veins.

Barry kept walking down the halls of the S.T.A.R. Labs facility as he entered the cortex where Harry Wells, of Earth 2 (one out of an infinite number of earths), and Cisco Ramon were. Caitlin wasn't there, though everyone was already used to that. The day after Ronnie died, Caitlin had left, suffering from her own unbearable pain. Cisco had stayed as he preferred to have been with Barry rather than his family. As for Harry, he was from an alternate earth. Barry and Cisco met him a few weeks after the Battle of New York, he had come with his daughter: Jesse. The duo eventually learned about the multiverse, breaches and everything that explained how and why they were on Earth 1 (which was apparently this earth). Harry had stayed and helped Team Flash. Jesse wanted to help but Harry (with Barry's help) gave her a false identity and sent her off to a college on the other side of the country (where she would be safe).

Barry noticed Cisco was sitting behind the main desk, working on one of the three computers on it as the cortex was filled with the sounds Cisco's typing. Barry also noticed Harry tweaking the tachyon enhancer he, Cisco and Harry were all working on to increase Barry's speed.

"Still working, guys?" Barry asked as Cisco and Harry simply replied but didn't bother turning their heads.

"Nothing better to do." Cisco sighed.

"I obviously won't say the same for Cisco but you're getting kinda slow in your golden age, Harry." Barry said as he and Cisco lightly smirked.

"Very funny, Allen." Harry said sarcastically. "However, age does come to us all."

"Touche." Cisco said as he got up and slipped his arms into his jacket. "I gotta go."

"See you." Barry said.

"See you." Cisco replied as he patted Barry's shoulder before exiting the cortex.

Cisco left Barry and Harry alone in the cortex as the two didn't speak to one another, the cortex was conquered with a lasting silence as Barry simply stood behind the desk of computers and Harry continued working on the tachyon enhancer.

"I take it last night was productive?" Harry asked, setting his tools down before getting up as he face Barry.

"No." Barry said in a tone of disappointment, typing on the main keyboard as pictures of the thug Goldface and his gangs were shown."Goldface is still out there and so's his gang. He has contracts all over the world but his base is in Central City. Weapons, drugs, human trafficking, Metahuman trafficking." Barry felt his tongue go bitter with disgust that such crime was happening at all. Let alone in his city. "Word on the street is that his gang is full of cons, ex-government agents: S.H.I.E.L.D., A.R.G.U.S." Those bits of information caused Barry to spark with excitement.

"Strange that S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't already tied up those loose ends." Harry said with a frown. "Even stranger that A.R.G.U.S. hasn't done so either."

"If I haven't done it, neither can they." Barry countered.

"So..." Harry said, moving onto another topic. "the theory is that Goldface is the White Portuguese?"

"No. The theory is that Goldface will lead me to the White Portuguese."

"The White Portuguese could be a woman, could be a kid. We don't even know if it exists in the first place, we could be chasing our own tails for all we know."

"Then what or who exactly is trying to bring a dirty bomb into Central City?" Barry demanded.

Harry let Barry win this round of high-stakes as he raised his hands in a fake surrender position before lowering them back down. The alternate Wells then went over to one of the desks on in the lab as he grabbed a newspaper and held it in front of Barry's face. The newspaper was from the Central City Picture News, the title of the paper was what caught Barry's attention: Reign Of The Flash! There was a picture of two police officers dragging a man, who was shirtless. The man was beaten to a pulp bruises and blood covering his body but most importantly the Flash brand that Barry left on him. It was zoomed in on the top right corner. Harry then spoke with disappointment.

"New rules." Harry said, demanding to hear Barry's reasoning.

"We're criminals, Harry." Barry said, pushing the newspaper away. "We've always been criminals, things have always been this way. Nothing's changed."

"Oh, it has." Harry said as Barry glared at him with fury. "Everything's changed."

Harry put the newspaper on the glass table of the main desk of the cortex before moving over to the keyboard as he typed a few instructions on it. Barry and Harry both looked up at the four computers that surrounded the case that held Barry's new Flash suit. The four computers all showed the same footage from the Battle of New York.

"Assassins kill in the daylight." Harry said as Black Widow and Hawkeye were shown firing arrows and bullets at aliens on the four computer screens. "Gods rule our skies." Thor was then shown on the screen as he held his hammer, Mjolnir, in the air. Blue lightning came down from the skies, which were now filled with dark and grey clouds. Thor reminded Barry a lot of Weather Wizard, though he was seemingly a god. "Soldiers from another time return from the dead to fight new wars." Captain America was shown running on the top of a bus as alien blasts followed him. The soldier jumped in the air as the footage cut to something else. "Men in iron fly through our streets." Billionaire Tony Stark, otherwise known as the Iron Man, flew through the streets of New York, taking out the Chitauri in his Iron Man suit. "Monsters rise from our nightmares." Hulk was shown jumping building to building, smashing buildings and causing more than half the destruction in the city. "Innocents die." Dead bodies of many, many people were then shown on the computer screen. .

That was the last straw for Barry as he pressed a key on the keyboard, closing all the footage as Harry turned around to face Barry. Barry hated those people, those so called 'Avengers'. They weren't heroes, they were murderers, killers in disguise. They were the reason the Battle of New York ever happened.

"That's how it starts." Harry said, interrupting Barry's thoughts as he bore a worried look. "The rage, the fear. This. All of this...is what turns good men, like you...cruel."

Harry then left the cortex, leaving Barry to think about what he had just said. Harry was hoping that Barry wouldn't continue going down the dark path of violence that he swore he would never go down. Barry sighed deeply as he went over to the four main computers, he put his hand on the hand scanner as the device scanned Barry's hand with a red holographic light before glowing with a green one.

"Access granted." Gideon's A.I. voice said.

From right to left, a small door slid open revealing Barry's new Flash suit. It was very different from his old one. It was styled like it but all the red spandex was replaced with dark, black metal. The emblem was a small bit of red metal shaped like a lightning bolt and Barry's cowl was now a helmet with black metal covering the back and top of his head and a grey visor covering half his face while leaving his mouth and chin exposed. Barry looked at his new suit with rage and readiness.

"Showtime." Barry whispered in a dark voice.

The Bus

S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson stood in the briefing room, waiting for his teammates to show up for the briefing he had called him to. Fury had called him and his team to the Triskelion for an important mission that apparently required all of them. Things weren't good. The World Council had been breathing down Fury's neck over 'The Flash' in Central City. They weren't angry about The Flash to be exact, but rather his descent into his current methods of violence. He hadn't killed anyone but he had tortured criminals and beat them to pulps. Everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D. knew that is was only a matter of time before The Flash crossed his line of 'no killing' and once he crossed that line, there would be no turning back - at all. Not just from his methods but from war.

Coulson's thoughts were cut off when he saw all the members of his team: Skye, Simmons, Fitz, Ward and May entered the room. Skye was a beautiful, slender woman with chocolate brown hair reaching the end of her shoulders. Simmons was more of a brunette with a ponytail and a British accent. Fitz was Scot with curly, blond hair whereas Ward was a muscular but not bulky man with shorter black hair. May, on the other hand, was an elderly woman, nearing Coulson's age. Though, her tan skin was free of any wrinkles and her dark, black hair remained free of any white hair.

Coulson was happy to know that he had his entire team on this, in the past few weeks, they had become like family to him, especially Skye, who was the daughter Coulson never had. The first person to speak, unsurprisingly, was Ward.

"So what's this one about?" Ward asked casually, who was always focused and straight to the point. One of the many things Coulson respected about him.

"I asked all of you here today to discuss this." Coulson said as he handed five files full of paper to each of his teammates.

Everyone was surprised that Coulson was giving them paper. Ward and May exchanged glances at one another. The both of them, being the trained field agents they were (unlike Skye, Simmons and Fitz), knew that paper could be traced back to S.H.I.E.L.D. by almost anybody and it was a cakewalk. Sure, Coulson was no 'Einstein' but he wasn't dumb enough to make such a mistake. Unless of course, it wasn't a mistake and was entirely intended by Coulson.

Everyone opened their files as they were met with six to eight pages about The Flash. That was all S.H.I.E.L.D. knew about The Flash, six to eight pages of information and pictures. Even, the Chitauri had more pages than that. Skye, being the joking person she was, smirked with laughter.

"You guys only have...what?" Skye asked, flipping the pages of the files. "Seven pages on him? Wow! That's just sad. Even I have more pages in S.H.I.E.L.D. than that."

"Skye, that's not very funny." May said seriously, not looking up from her file. "This man could be a threat and that would be...oh for crying out loud, this can't be real!"

May then lifted a page of The Flash, wearing his old red spandex suit, running at super speed while battling a gorilla.

"That would be Gorilla Grodd." Coulson said as everyone turned to face him. "He's telepathic gorilla who gained his powers by dark matter that was released from the particle accelerator. The accelerator released a whole a lot of 'new stuff'. Antimatter, dark energy, dark matter, x elements."

"Sir, all of those elements are theoretical." Simmons argued.

"C'mon Simmons, how theoretical is the Hulk?" Fitz pointed out. "Or Thor?"

"Two of the six Avengers we are going to be meeting." Coulson said, instantly getting everyone's attention.

"Hold up." Skye said, raising her hands before bursting out in joy. "We're meeting the Avengers?!"

"Not all of them immediately." Coulson said, trying to calm her down. "For now, we're just meeting Romanoff and Barton."

"How do they relate to this?" May said, holding up her file of The Flash.

"You and Ward will be assisting them on a mission to find him and get him to...you know, calm down a bit." Coulson replied, gesturing his hands.

"Four of us against a guy with super speed." Ward said, humming. "Seems pretty easy to me."

"There will be more." Coulson said. "How many have heard of A.R.G.U.S.?"

Triskelion

Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury, stood in his office, gazing out the windows as he waited for his guest. He had also called over Coulson and his team of agents but he would more than that if he was going to send agents into Central City, the home of The Flash. Fury waited and waited for a few moments when the door swung open as a woman entered Fury's office. Fury mentally smiled.

"I'm glad you were able to come, Director Waller." Fury said as he turned to face Amanda Waller, the Director of A.R.G.U.S.

"Good to finally be here." Waller said, scanning her surroundings. "This place almost lived up to my expectations."

"Hilarious." Fury said, dryly.

"Let's quit dancing, Nick. Why do you really need me?"

"We're both here for the same thing, Amanda. The Flash, we want him to stop what he's doing, he's going pretty far and soon he'll go too far. We have to stop him before he does."

"And how do you propose we do that?"

"You have the weapons the Rogues used when they fought The Flash all those months ago, don't you?"

"You want me to make copies for a unit from both our organisations."

"And a unit of cops from Central City."

"I don't know, Nick." Waller said. "This kind of tech can't really be trusted with beat cops in the Central City Police Department."

"Don't worry, Amanda. This will be different than the last time." Fury said as Waller recalled her painful defeat at the hands of the Central City vigilante.

Central City Docks

3:00 A.M.

Amanda Waller and her team of A.R.G.U.S. agents, who were armed to the teeth with machine guns, grenades and standard pistols. They were all following a lead on The Flash in Central City, word on the street was that he had gone dark, using ways of torture and violence, his suit was now made of dark, black metal, his voice was dark and modulated. Essentially, The Flash, Central City's Greatest Protector, had gone dark. He went from hero to vigilante but it was time to put an end to his reign of terror.

According to Waller's sources, there was going to be a buy between one of the gang's from Bludhaven and Goldface's gang. Waller had her agents rig the place with cameras, microphones and any other form of recording equipment. A voice over Waller's shoulder broke her train of thought.

"Anything yet, ma'am?" the voice of A.R.G.U.S. agent Lyla Michaels said.

"Nothing yet, Agent Michaels." Waller replied. "But don't worry he'll be here."

"What makes you so sure-"

"Ma'am, we have movement!" another A.R.G.U.S. agent said.

"Here we go." Waller barely whispered before raising her voice. "No one goes in or out until I give the order."

On the docks, in between the shipping containers, six men from both sides (a total of twelve gang members) were visible. On the right side there was Jake Hutchinson, a cruel gang member who would kill his own men for even the slightest misstep, let alone a complete failure. Hutchinson worked for Goldface, who was an even crueler man having been the leader of the Goldface gang. Some people said he had a gold chain that was stronger than Captain America's vibranium shield, others said that Goldface had gold inside his body, gold that was stronger than the Iron Man armor.

On the left side, there was Jason Thompson, a drug dealer from Bludhaven. He was the whole reason Bludhaven had a downfall, if it hadn't been for him, Bludhaven would've been a 'safe-haven' but no, it was ruled with blood, hence the name. Two immense and powerful gang leaders and they were in Central City.

"Yo Jake, how we doin' brother?" Thompson said as he and Hutchinson engaged in a handshake before giving each other a one-armed hug.

"Hey, the usual." Hutchinson said as the two looked at each other seriously. "You got the money?"

"Oh yeah." Thompson said as he turned around and faced his men before giving them a nod.

Two of Thompson's men walked over, both of them having two suitcases in their hands. The men stopped as the opened the cases, showing them to Hutchinson who looked at the money greedily but he didn't let his greed overtake him.

"Looks legit." Hutchinson said.

"You got my toys?" Thompson asked, it was Hutchinson's turn to hold up his end of the bargain.

Waller, Lyla and the team of agents were watching everything from the cameras suddenly went dark. Waller stared in shock and disbelief as did Lyla and the agents. All the equipment was supposed to be immune against EMP's.

"What the Hell?" one of the agents.

"What just happened?!" Lyla demanded.

"All our equipment is just blank, I'm getting nothing!" the agent replied in shock as Lyla turned to face Waller, this wasn't going to be very good.

Back on the docks, Thompson and Hutchinson were talking when suddenly, a flash of orange and white lightning flickered before one of Hutchinson's men was gone before anyone could even flinch. Everyone stared in shock, Thompson and Hutchinson's remaining men pulled aimed their machine guns in the direction the man was taken. Thompson and Hutchinson pulled out their pistols as they held them in readiness, they knew they would need to be ready.

"Where's Smythe?" Hutchinson called out as all his men nodded their heads, indicating that they didn't know where Smythe was.

Suddenly, a yell was heard before Smythe came flying in air as he crashed on Hutchinson's car. The force of the crash broke both the windows, Smythe's ribs, nose and chin. Everyone opened fire at the dark corner Smythe was thrown from, they didn't know who or what they were shooting. They just knew to shoot.

"Everyone spread out, cover the docks!" Thompson ordered.

All eleven men nodded as they left their positions and spread out in three groups of three and one group of two.

Back in the A.R.G.U.S. van

"All right, move out, move out." Waller ordered as she and her unit of A.R.G.U.S. agents head out of the van before splitting up in three groups of four, save for Waller and Lyla, who went out on their own.

Waller and Lyla held their pistols as they scanned their surroundings, they then spotted four gang members. Before the gang members could do anything, Lyla and Waller opened fire on the four members. Waller took out two with six bullets while Lyla, much to Waller's surprise, took down the other two with half the number of bullets.

"Well done, Agent Michaels." Waller said.

"Thank you, ma'am." Lyla whispered as the two moved swiftly through the docks.

In another part of the docks, three A.R.G.U.S. agents moved through the gaps between the many, many shipping containers as they held their machine guns up, pointed in the air, ready to shoot anything and anyone. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard as one of the A.R.G.U.S. agents was shot dead due to a hit in the head. The other two agents then saw a thug with a machine gun. They tried to fire but the thug was quicker as he shot the both of them dead with his machine gun. The thug grinned like a madman as he swiftly moved past the bodies of the dead A.R.G.U.S. agents.

"You guys got fight in you." the thug gasped, having been out of breath. "I like that."

"Then you're gonna love me." a dark, modulated voice said.

Before the thug could do anything, a flash of orange and white lightning passed him as he was thrown onto the shipping container. The thug's head hit the shipping container with a loud THUD! as he fell to the ground unconsciously. At another part of the docks, a bloodied an injured A.R.G.U.S. agent walked slowly without care for his cover. He had just gotten out of a shootout between his part of the unit and the remaining thugs. He was the only survivor, the thugs and other two agents he was with had been killed in the shootout. The man dropped his unloaded machine gun as he kept making his way out of the docks when suddenly, the agent saw a man in black metal suit but not just any man. It was The Flash, in his new suit. The agent neared Flash as he prepared to make his attack on him.

"Who the bloody Hell are you supposed to be?" the A.R.G.U.S. agent asked The Flash.

The agent charged at the speedster, throwing a punch at him, but Flash was quicker as he simply grabbed the agent's fist with his left hand before he repeatedly speed-punched the agent's torso with the other. Flash then punched the agent's face at super speed, over and over again with super speed. The speedster then cracked the A.R.G.U.S. agent's arm causing the agent to cry out in pain before Flash knocked the A.R.G.U.S. agent off of his feet and onto the floor. Flash breathed deeply, ignoring the effects of his exhaustion as he got down on his knees and speed-punched the agent four times before stopping. Flash examined his work for a few moments as he whispered two words.

"I'm vengeance." Flash said in a dark, scruffy voice.

Flash then got off of his knees as he stood on his feet. He breathed in deeply before running all over the docks in flickers of white and orange lightning. In the past, the lightning was orange, now it was striped with both orange and white. Flash ran around the entire docks at super speed, taking out all the thugs with lethal force. He beat them to pulps, knowing they would need extensive surgery to ever live properly. Flash then skid to a halt as he threw Hutchinson to the ground. Hutchinson crawled back in fear, lying on his elbows and back as he kept crawling. Flash walked over to Hutchinson as he grabbed him by his collar.

"I know you work for Goldface, Hutchinson. I know you'll escape the CCPD's custody." Flash growled. "That's what I'm counting on, when you go back to your little playhouse, tell Goldface that his days in Central City are numbered. He'll spend the rest of his life in Iron Heights and so will his friends. None of you are safe so long as I am alive and breathing."

Hutchinson gulped in fear, his breathing and heart rate both accelerating, he believed everything Flash was saying. Goldface would kill him but compared to The Flash, Goldface was the least of his concern. Flash delivered a punch to Hutchinson's face as the thug went unconscious, his injuries taking their toll on his body. The Scarlet Speedster rose to his feet as Amanda Waller and Lyla Michaels arrived and stood behind Flash, the two stared at Flash in shock.

"Well I'll be." Lyla gasped.

"You're hard man to find, Flash. An impressive one, nevertheless." Waller said as Flash scanned his surroundings. "Allow me to introduce myself, my name is-"

"I know who you are, Amanda Waller. Director of A.R.G.U.S." Flash said as Waller's eyes grew large in shock. "My answer is no. I'm not coming with you. Central City needs me."

Waller was disappointed that Flash knew about A.R.G.U.S., she was even more disappointed that Flash knew who she was but she didn't even know who he was. God knows who does. How did a man protecting one city know about an organisation as secret as A.R.G.U.S? This man had to be brought in, right this second under any circumstance, no matter the cost.

"I'm afraid I'm going to have to insist." Waller said, stepping forward.

"Insist all you want, I'm not coming." Flash said, seeming pretty adamant about his position.

"Now." Waller said into her earpiece.

In a matter of seconds, the remaining A.R.G.U.S. agents arrived as they surrounded Flash in a circle-like position. The A.R.G.U.S. agents gripped their machine guns tightly as they aimed them at Flash.

"Get on the ground!" Lyla shouted to Flash, holding her pistol at him. "On the ground now! Hands in the air!"

Before anyone else could even flinch, Flash ran around in circle with orange and white lightning following him as he knocked all the A.R.G.U.S. agents (Lyla and Waller included) off their feet and onto the ground. It had happened so quickly that no one had time to react, everyone was on the ground, in pain. All the agents were knocked out except for Waller, who was barely conscious. Flash walked over to Waller as he placed his foot on Waller's left shoulder, keeping her pinned to the ground as the A.R.G.U.S. director groaned in pain. Never had she ever lost to someone, let alone so easily and quickly. Flash pressed his foot on Waller's shoulder even harder, making Waller wince in pain as Flash spoke.

"Leave." Flash said simply before continuing. "Leave Central City and never, ever come back. Tell all of A.R.G.U.S., tell S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, the U.N., the World Council that Central City is off-limits. It is out of their reach. This city is under my protection. You have until dawn to leave. Forever. I won't tell you again."

Flash removed his foot from Waller's shoulder as he ran off in a flash of orange and white lightning. Waller groaned as she slowly forced herself back up again, it had been years since she had felt this kind of pain, her years of doing nothing more than sitting behind a chair were finally taking their toll. Waller managed to get on her knees as she looked up to the direction where Flash had ran off. Where the one man, the one man, who beat her ran. Waller looked over to where the unconscious body of Hutchinson was but when she looked over, she saw nothing, no one. Hutchinson was gone. He had gone back to Goldface to deliver Flash's message.

Avenger's Tower

Tony Stark (more commonly known as the Iron Man) walked through the halls of the top floor of Avenger's Tower. After his incident/battle with The Mandarin, he had taken residence in the newly established Avenger's Tower. Tony kept walking until he stopped at his desk as he looked down on the scepter from Loki (which Fury gave him for a few days) that was used in the Battle of New York, more commonly known as The Battle. Tony snorted. 'The Battle', what lame and stupid name. Even he could come up with a better name than that.

Tony frowned with disappointment and guilt at remembrance of that day. The city had healed but it wasn't the same. Tony, like most of the Avengers, felt partially responsible for the fact New York was suffering. Tony kept thinking and thinking when suddenly, an idea struck him. What if he hosted a gala? Not just any gala, a gala to introduce the business people of the world to the Avengers.

"Pepper can get the most of the business folks here and I can get the Avengers." Tony said to himself as he wondered. "How do I get Point Break and Banner here?"

A/N: That's it for now, I hope you like my new chapter and I will try to update this story as quick as I can. Damn, 5,242 words. That's a record for me.
