Note: I can't leave this little one shot alone as I work on other works so here you go
Pearl was very unhappy as she started to pull into the driveway of her home. Both her four year old daughters were sitting on the front steps, alone, with popsicles in there hands. Neither her wife or her wifes sister were in sight making her eye twitch.
Parking quickly, Pearl got out of her car with her purse in hand "Girls, what are you doing out here? Where's your mother?" She couldn't help but chuckle as Opal pointed at her "I mean your other mother sweetie."
"Auntie Ami and Mamma are lookin for us." Malachite said jumping off the porch as Opal stayed in place licking her treat happily "They wanted toos play hide and sneak."
"Hide and seek." Pearl gently corrected her coming up and wiping a bit of her hair out of the small sticky patch on her daughters cheek. "How did you get out side and to the popsicles? I know I moved them."
"I gots the back door open." Malachite said proudly before pointing to her sister "She gots ups onto the counter and gots them."
"Oh boy." Pearl sighed stepping up and picking Opal up. "Well, do you both want to see how Mamma and Aunti Ami can get into trouble?"
"Are they gonna goes into time out?" Malachite said jumping up the steps after her mom and sister.
"More then likely." Pearl answered "But I'm going to scare them both first."
Pearl balanced her quiet daughter on her hip as she unlocked the front door. She opened it and brought her daughters inside. She placed Opal down on the steps and told them to stay quiet. The best they could do was cover there mouths and giggle and Pearl just smiled before composing her face and listened. It was hard to not snort at the chaos she could hear through the house. She could hear her wife running around the bottom floor with Amethyst running around the top.
"Find them yet?" Jasper called from some where in the back room of her office. Pearl was cringing in thought of how badly her room was being tossed around by her wifes frantic searching.
"No!" Amethyst yelled form the top floor from what Pearl could assume to be the girls toy room. She could hear toys and blocks and all sorts of things just falling and crashing above her.
"There not down here, they have to be up there!"
"There not up here with me!"
"There five! They can't get out of the house on there own! They have to be somewhere!"
"Jas, what are we gonna do?!"
"If we don't find them before my wife gets home then we should just dig our graves under the house now-"
Pearl loudly shut the front door silencing any conversation in the home. Pearl winked at her girls, who just covered there mouths in poor attempts to hide there laughter, before crossing her arms. "Girls, I'm home!"
"Pearl!" Amethyst shouted from the top floor. She could hear here trying to get out of the girls to room and falling hard over something "Your home early!"
"I got done at the lab sooner then expected. They fixed the problem before I got there and just wanted me to look it over before I left." Pearl said as she watched her wife dart across the kitchen doorway far down the hall, completely oblivious to her standing there "Where are my girls? It's awfully quiet in here."
"There-er- W-Were playing a game!" Amethyst called as Jasper slid past the doorway and stopped, noticing her wife standing there. Pearl smerked for a moment at the sound of her wife bumping into the kitchen table with a small curse to follow.
"H-Hi hun." Jasper said with a half hearted wave that she stopped upon seeing the frown on her face, leaning back into the doorway. A look that could shatter glass crossed Pearl's face as Amethyst slid to a stop at the top of the stairs "Your home early."
"Would you like to explain to me why both of them were out on the front porch." Pearl slowly uncrossed her arms and placed her hands on her hips "Alone?"
The fear across both Jasper and Amethyst's face amused Pearl a bit, even more so as they both started to try and explain what had happen. She caught parts of what happened. It sounded like a normal day until both girls wanted to play a new game and Amethyst had the bright idea of hide and seek. It sounded like it all went well until about an hour ago when they couldn't find the girls again. As that part came up Pearl just gestured to her side to both giggling kids.
"Seems both of you need to go into time out." Pearl said.
"What?"
"Are you serious?"
"Of course." Pearl said "Your in trouble so you go into time out."
"Pearl-"
"But-"
Pearl just pointed at the girls, who were smiling and now covered in melted popsicles "Even big girls get in trouble."
Both Jasper and Amethyst opened there mouths to protest but quickly snapped them shut. Both of them grumble as they made there way over to the stairs. Pearl got the girls off the steps as both bigger girls took there place.
"See girls." Pearl said watching both adults crossing there arms and pouting "Even Mamma and Aunt Ami can get in trouble. Now, up to wash your faces ok?"
Both kids wiggled past the two on the stairs and rushed up them.
"Help her get the water on Malachite!" Pearl called up after them "And don't let her get the towels Opal, you do that!"
Once they were out of sight Pearl glared at the sisters on the steps. "Well?"
"We-I-We didn't-" Jasper huffed and crossed her arms looking away from her wifes glare and fiddled with the end of her shirt. She was embarrassed and shamed that her girls got outside without her knowing. She felt like a failure of a parent and Pearl seemed to sense that wit a sudden but gentle kiss to the top of her head. "M'sorry."
"Seems I'm not the only one who panics about them now am I?" Pearl teased lightly for a moment "I'm upset at you both but happy you were so panicked in searching for them. Seems me drilling into there heads they can't leave the house didn't fully work though."
"I mean, they were on the front porch so they technically didn't leave." Amethyst said looking away but with a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
"They get that from you." Jasper playfully jabbed at her wife before spreading her legs a bit to pull her wife right against her "They did follow the rules."
"But danced around the technicality of it like you." Pearl jabbed back with a smile.
"Dose tat mean we can get up now?"
"No."
"Pearl."
"Bad girls sit in time out." Pearl wiggled out of her wifes arms as she scooted up the stairs to the sound of splashing water on a floor and two giggling kids. "Your also going to give them a bath tonight."
"Fine."
"Alone."
"Pearl!"
