After getting the food at the door Santana and Brittany set up a a little picnic for the the boys in the living room, where each boy sat cuddled into their others while they ate and talked. Santana and Brittany took turns asking each other's sons little questions to get to know them better. Cayden answered each question confidently, while picking at his food, while Tyson, would blush at certain questions, glancing up at Santana often for her approval, to which she would nod and wink at him. Eating the chicken wings that he didn't finish so they didn't go to waste.

Since it was still relatively early Santana put on a movie for the boys in movie room they had upstairs, which was one of the guest rooms that she transformed for them. She ha d massive tv on the wall, and bean bag chairs i n the room, with a plush sectional right in the middle. The walls were black with black out curtains, so it was just like being at the theater. Brittany told Cayden they needed to leave by 8pm so he could get his bath and get in bed for school the next morning.

"Thanks for helping me clean up the kitchen, you didn't have to do that." Santana stated softly. "You're a guest, my mom would be praying over me right now, shrieking that I have forsaken my home training." She smirked.

Brittany dried off the last plate and set it in the cupboard, "well you won't let me Cashapp you any money." She laughed, "so it's the least I can do."

Santana laughed, "no I wasn't going to let you pay for a couple of pizzas and wings."

"Wings that my son only ate the chicken skin." Brittany laughed.

Santana laughed at the memory of Cayden sucking the sauce off and then eating the skin. "It's fine, trust me. I've seen Tyson do worst." She assured her. "He's five, I would be shocked if he ate a whole wing."

"Tyson did." Brittany smiled.

"Yeah, he ate one whole wing, but only took small bites out of three others, and ate the cheese off of his pizza." Santana smiled. "I pick and choose my food battles."

"Another glass of wine while the boys watch their movie?" Brittany asked. "I mean, if you want, I want to overstay my welcome at all."

"I would love another glass or two." Santana smiled. "It's fine, relax. You're great company."

Brittany nodded, "you are too, Miss..."

"Lopez, well Martinez-Lopez, but Lopez." Santana rambled off. "Long story." She smiled when Brittany raised an eyebrow at her.

Santana quickly made of plate of cheese and fruit for them and followed Brittany back to the living room. "So..."

"So..." Brittany interrupted her. "I told you more about my family, sort of...I would love to know more about yours, with all those siblings."

Santana raised an eyebrow while popping a grape in her mouth, she slowly chewed while nodding and jumping up. She grabbed a photo from the bookcase in the corner and sat down next to Brittany on the couch. "So...this is my mami and papi, they've been married 49 years, the big 5-0 is is next spring." She beamed proudly, "my dad, Rafael, is a semi-retired dentist, I say semi because he still comes to the office and will see certain patients, the older ones that are used to him, my mom, Sandria, is a retired college professor, she taught Spanish. Now she volunteers a few days a week to translate at a hospital downtown. This is Rafael Jr, he's the oldest, started his own tech firm right after college, married has five kids, three are annoying." She teased. "He's like a second father figure, I can talk to him about any and everything. Next up is Valleria, she's a college professor, teaching Communication, her and her wife are separated, so the whole family has to suffer through being around her more." She laughed. "Just kidding, I love my big sister, but she can be a bit much."

Brittany smiled while staring at Santana, noticing how full of life and happy she was talking about her family.

"Um, this is my twin, Gia." Santana tapped the photo, "like I mentioned earlier, she's a dentist, we work together. She has a son and a daughter, she's not married, but they've been together forever, it's just a matter of time."

"Valleria looks more like your twin than Gia." Brittany smiled.

"Crazy, right?" Santana laughed. "Gia and I are identical when my hair is black." She added. "Next up is Xavier, he's an architect, then Daniel, who is in law school right now, and finally the baby Ava is in grad school, she wants to be a publicist. The younger three are my babies." She laughed. "They come to for everything before going to my parents, I feel like I helped raise those three. I remember when Ava was in high school, she was getting into it with my parents, and I convinced my mom to let her stay with me for a while."

"Beautiful family." Brittany smiled, staring at the picture again. "You all look alike." She laughed.

"Crazy genes." Santana giggled.

"Does everyone still live in Chicago?"

"Yeah, we are all here still, and see each other fairly often, we are a super close family, which sometimes our significant others have to take some time to get used to." Santana explained. "Ummmm, what else about us, devout Catholics, I had a great childhood, nothing too major."

Brittany smiled, "I guess it's my turn, well, my parents are still married, still living in Los Angeles, my dad is a pilot, and my mom is a real estate agent."

"Cool, I would love to look at houses all day." Santana laughed. "I'm a looky loo, I go to open houses all the time."

"Really?"

"Totally, it gives me a lot of ideas on how to decorate or revamp my house." Santana explained.

"I never though about it that way." Brittany nodded thoughtfully. "I told you about my brothers, well I have three nieces and two nephews from them. I love when I get to see them. The family usually all gets together around Christmas and once in the summer, we all head back home to LA."

"Cool." Santana smiled. "That must be fun, since you all aren't together that often."

"Absence makes the the heart grow fonder." Brittany smiled. "So..."

"So..." Santana raised an eyebrow.

"Are you dating anyone? I'm only asking because all the pictures are of your family, aside from the blonde with the two boys, but..."

Santana glanced at the picture of Quinn and her sons and nodded. "Oh, that's Quinn, she's a good friend from college, she's married to her college sweetheart, Grant. They are like a fairytale family story. Seriously most adorable family ever." She laughed. "I date...no one exclusively right now. It's kind of hard with Tyson, I don't want to ship him off every time I have a date, it's not fair to him, I was dating this woman, but she wasn't entirely comfortable with the fact that I had a kid. So while Tyson loves sleepovers at my parents, and hanging out with his tons of cousins, I want to be able to have my baby boy home when I have dates too, you know...I want to be able to bridge those two parts of my life. If that makes sense."

"Perfect sense." Brittany nodded. "Dating with a kid is definitely hard. It's a little easier for me, since I have my grandma at home, but I still worry about introducing someone into Cayden's life, and then us breaking up."

"Exactly." Santana nodded, taking another sip of her wine. "So, are you just casually dating now?"

"Honestly?"

"Yes."

"Since moving to Chicago, I haven't been on a date." Brittany admitted, laughing when Santana's jaw dropped. "I've been focused on work, and Cayden, and I just...never got around to it."

Santana cocked her head to the side. "Do you have any friends in Chicago?" She asked.

Brittany turned a soft shade of red, "I guess not."

Santana nodded, "well, you have me, this is has been more than fun tonight, I can introduce you to some people, if you like. Or you and Cayden are welcome to come when I get together with some of my friends that have boys around Tyson's age."

"I would love that." Brittany smiled. "Thanks." She glanced at her watch, "we should really get going."

Santana looked at her watch, widening her yes. "Whoa...tonight flew right by."

"Let me help you clean up." Brittany suggested, as she popped a grape in her mouth.

The two cleaned up the living room before Santana ran upstairs to check on the boys and saw them both fast asleep on the bean bag chairs, she carefully picked up Cayden and carried him downstairs, winking at Brittany, who was putting her shoes on.

"Thanks." Brittany smiled, slipping his shoes on and getting his coat on before laying him on the couch. "Thanks for everything tonight," she smiled at Santana, hugging her tightly. "I had a great time, and I can tell Cayden did too. I hope we can get the boys together again soon."

"Totally." Santana beamed. "Get home safe, and text e when you get home."

Brittany nodded as she picked up Cayden. "I will. Bye."

"Bye." Santana replied softly.

Santana was walking back in her bedroom with a bottle of water when her cell phone rang, she saw it was Brittany and immediately answered.

Hey Brittany

Hey Santana, I'm home and wanted to thank you again for a great evening. I honestly haven't had that much fun since I moved to Chicago.

I had a really good time too, Brittany. Cayden is definitely welcome anytime he wants to come over. He's such a sweetheart.

Thanks, next playdate I'll host, so we can return the hospitality.

Santana blushed as she quickly typed back. I would love that... "Fuck!" She shrieked before typing again. I mean I'm sure Tyson would love that.

Not to be weird or anything, but do you mind if I call you? I really enjoyed talking to you tonight, I feel like I haven't had a friend in so long

Sure, Tyson is in bed...call away

"Call away?" Santana cringed at herself, while rolling her eyes as her cell phone rang.

Santana was in her office looking over impressions for patient she was seeing later when Gia walked in after knocking on the door.

"Hey."

Santana glanced up before turning to type on her laptop. "Hey Gia."

"Busy?"

Santana raised an eyebrow, "nope, just taking a nap."

"Okay, you're in a mood." Gia frowned, sitting down on the couch to the side.

"Sorry...what's up?" Santana said, typing a few more notes and saving the file, before going to her iPad and drawing a few arrows on the image.

"We need to hire a temp for the office manager position," Gia stated.

Santana raised an eyebrow, "why? What's wrong with Phoebe?"

"She has to go on maternity leave early, mandated bed rest." Gia explained. "Her doctor just faxed over paperwork, we can't use Ava daily, it worked this week, but that's just because she was on fall break from school."

Santana ran her fingers through her hair. "Okay, umm...have Martin call the temp agencies we use and get some potential candidates lined up. I can do payroll myself, and we can have Martin do more of the work that Phoebe was doing, and just get a receptionist and book keeper to cover his work." She rattled off.

Gia grabbed a post it from the dispenser on Santana's desk and jotted down some notes. "Staff meeting at 6:30 today?"

"Sure, mami is picking up Tyson from school today." Santana nodded, opening the burgundy leather binder on her desk and starting writing down some notes. "I know you have an appointment soon so I'll get the outline together, I have a long lunch today, but I'll be back before my appointment at two."

"Okay, see you later." Gia nodded, standing up and leaving the office.

Santana walked over and closed her door before pulling out her cell phone and sending a text with a smile.

12:15pm

Brittany walked into a small diner and smiled when she saw Santana waiting in a booth, staring intently at the menu. She walked over quickly and knocked softly on the table before taking her coat off when Santana looked up.

"Hey," Santana smiled, jumping to her feet to greet Brittany with a hug.

"Thanks for the lunch invite." Brittany smiled in return.

"No problem." Santana shrugged playfully, "gotta eat, right?"

"right." Brittany replied. "Have you been here before?"

Santana shook her head, glancing at her phone. "No, so thanks for suggesting it, I like trying new restaurants."

"Cool, I've been a few times, and havent come across a meal that I don't like yet." Brittany laughed, causing Santana to join in. "Cayden talked about how much fun he had at Tyson's house all morning while he got ready for school."

Santana took a sip of her water and smiled. "Same with Tyson, he wanted Cayden to come over tonight." She laughed. "I told him not tonight, since I work pretty late, he actually might stay at my parent's house, it's easier when I have late nights."

"You have appointments in the evening?" Brittany asked, nodding a thank you to the waitress for the water.

"My latest appointment is 6:15 on Wednesday's, and I just do rubber band changes and loose brackets at that time, but we have a staff meeting, my office manager is out on maternity leave, so we need to shuffle around some staff and realign some job duties." Santana explained. "Since T has a 8pm bed time usually he'll just stay at my parent's house so he's not all wound up from just getting home that late and wanting to tell me about his day and show me everything."

"Cool that you have your parents to help out." Brittany smiled.

"Yeah, it's great, they love when the grandkids stay over." Santana nodded. "So how's work this morning for you?"

"Cold season is big for me." Brittany teased, "I happily welcomed your lunch invitation."

The waiter came out and took their orders, Brittany ordered a grilled chicken salad with a yogurt parfait, while Santana ordered the grilled salmon with polenta. They fell into a comfortable conversation, picking up on their three hour long conversation from the following night on the phone. The two easily fell into a friendship overnight, talking about their childhoods more in depth, to their favorite movies and musical acts. They realized how much they had in common and how much they enjoyed talking to each other.

"So I was thinking." Santana stated, setting down her glass of lemonade. "You said you haven't been out on a date in a few years, I would like to take you out."

Brittany raised an eyebrow as a deep shade of red crept up her neck, "really?" She asked with a smile.

Santana ate the final forkful of her salmon and nodded. "Yeah, I like you, really like you, I know it might be a little weird since our kids are friends...so if I'm overstepping."

"No, you aren't." Brittany shook her head. "You aren't at all, I would love to." She blushed, "I really like you too."

"Sweet." Santana nodded proudly. "When are you free?" She asked.

"This weekend works."

"Saturday at 7?" Santana asked.

"It's a date." Brittany nodded quickly.

Santana smiled. "I'm not a dinner and a movie first date type of girl, so dress casual." She laughed. "I like adventure and having fun."

"I expect nothing less." Brittany laughed as well.

Brittany sat in her office looking over resumes when when Mercedes, her business partner, knocked and walked in. "Hey girl."

"Hey, what's up?" Brittany smiled, taking off the reading glasses she was wearing and setting them down.

Mercedes sat at the chair in front of her desk with her stack of resumes and groaned. "How's your stack?"

Brittany laughed softly, "are we sure we need another doctor?"

Mercedes laughed, "yes we do." She sighed as she lifted her stack of resumes again. "This is harder than I thought it would be." She admitted. "I'll print out some more resumes from the internet."

"I'm wondering if we can just get away with having another nurse or two?" Brittany thought. "Pull some more and than let's think of our options. How about we regroup early next week?"

"Sounds good, babe." Mercedes nodded. "What are you up to tonight?"

Brittany thought for a minute, "probably just relax at home. You?"

"I'm thinking of going to hear some music with some of the staff from the clinic next door, you in?" Mercedes asked.

"Hmmmm, sounds fun, I'll definitely let you know later." Brittany nodded.

"Cool, see you later."

Brittany leaned back in her chair and pulled out her phone typing in some notes to herself before setting her phone back down and going back to the resumes.

8pm

Santana yawned as she pulled her hair into a messy bun and made her way downstairs, her phone in her hand as she scrolled her UberEats, trying to find something with a quick delivery time. She flopped on her couch just as Brittany called her.

Hey Brittany

Hey Santana, how are you?

Good, just got home not long ago, showered, called Tyson to say good night, and now I'm scrolling UberEats looking for something to eat. What about you?

Oh, just got done cooking actually, chicekn alfredo with asparagus, home made garlic bread on the side.

Damn, I'm jealous. Santana laughed.

Don't be.

Santana started to say something else as her doorbell rang.

Shit, hold on Brittany, someone is at my door.

Santana walked over to the door, a huge smile crossing her face when she saw Brittany through the peephole.

"What are you doing here?" Santana smiled, stepping to the side, "come on in."

"I cooked dinner, and I remember you were working late. So..."

Santana hugged her tightly, "thanks, so sweet of you." She replied, leaning up and pressing their lips together suddenly.

Brittany initially broke the kiss, before pulling her closer and deepening the kiss, allowing Santana to push her tongue in. "You're welcome." She finally mumbled when the kiss broke. "Let's eat."
