On the dinner table everything just seemed as usual: Luffy ate like there was no tomorrow, Usopp tried to protect his food portion with all of his might from the captains greedy fingers, Sanji stood in the kitchen preparing food and so on.
Nami seemingly enjoyed her dinner just like everybody else - like Luffy and her did not just had such an intimite moment together for the first time. However as she pictured that situation again in her head, she suddenly wasn't able to eat another bite. ''It says that you lose your appetite when you're in love'' Robin whispered to Nami with her charming smile. Hearing this, the navigator almost choked on the wine she was drinking in that moment. ''Are you crazy?'' the navigator said exhausted ''to say such things on the dinner table -infront of everyone'' she tried to mumble this as calmly as possible but somehow the attention of the crew was now directed towards the flustered woman. ''Uhm... everything's fine!'' she hissed at the curious faces of her friends, which made them immediately go back to their previous occupations.
Nami looked at the archeologist, making her understand with her eyes that she shouldn't be spying on her anymore, on which Robin smilingly teased her by saying ''don't worry Ms. Navigator...I'm sure you're not the only one in love on this ship, and I'm not speaking of our cook''. Having her eyes wide openend out of shock to hear such silly things, Nami shoveled the rest of her food into her mouth to escape the situation as quickly as possible, against her urge of not wanting to eat. ''Sanji, I'm full! Thanks for the meal'' she declared while fleeing the kitchen to hide herself between her Mikan Trees.
The night was on the verge come, while clouds full of rain emptied themselves over the ocean, but Nami wasn't bothered that she got cold and soaked by the rain.
Leaning against one of her trees, she closed her eyes and tried to relax her confused mind. She didn't know what to think, her thoughts were all over the place, just because of what Luffy did earlier. She for sure didn't feel like herself, being this complicated, which confirmed her doubts on this matter even more - that there is no room for such feelings on this ship, at least right now. The best would be to protect oneself of deeper feelings, she thought to herself.
This confirmation didn't necesseraly made her feel good but she was ready to accept her fate of this unfinished love.
''Nami! There you are!'' Luffy said loudly, being relieved finding Nami in her favorite spot, he stood above her and smirked. Nami wasn't surprised to see him now, she knew he would come to make things up sooner or later. She smiled back at him, still having a slightly sad look on her face. ''Luffy you are already full?'' she asked him while turning her head on the side, losing her smile from before. ''No but I wanted to see you!'' he answered as he kneeled down to her ''earlier, I didn't mean to upset you, you know?''. ''Don't look so worried. You didn't do anything wrong.'' she answered still not facing his direction. ''Then why are you avoiding to look at me?'' he shouted, as he grabbed her by her chin trying to get her to look at him. ''Please, i need you look at me Nami'' he said softer to his perplexed navigator, whose face was in his hand ''I want to talk to you''.
''Luffy quit messing with me!'' Nami told him fiercly ''looking so innocently at me with your...'' she got calmer as she continued speaking '' black eyes and your...''. She realised that again she was drifting away, being so close to him.
''You mess with my head Luffy'' she said hurtingly ''you don't know what your doing when you just hug me like that and be so different than usual''. Luffy just looked at her as she stated those words, but he was distracted, seeing her beautiful face this close, still holding her chin. Not getting a response, Nami released herself from Luffys hand and stood up. She didn't see a point in this conversation, so she decided to leave. ''I'm going to sleep, you should do so, too'' she said leaving Luffy sitting on the ground.
''Arghhhh...I'm such an idiot!'' Luffy scolded himself, facepalming, while lying in the warm spring sun on the ships figurehead. It was the morning after the incident with Nami. Still not knowing what to do with himself, he craved Namis presence around him.
Reflecting about all the things he did yesterday, his heart began to ache. Was he feeling guilty for hugging her? He didn't know.
He pressed his hands against his face as he heard some noise behind him. It was his navigatress climbing her way up to him. For a second he was frozen by her image - her soft face, her orange hair flowing in the lukewarm breeze and her beautiful brown eyes. He snapped back to reality when her glaze met his.
''Luffy'' Nami warmly smiled ''how are you?'' she asked him very softly, making her way to sit beside him. The captain, trying his best not to show this unsure side of him, answered nervously laughing ''I'm great! ... Really great!''.
He then faced the ocean, leaning as comfortable as possible on the back of his arms. Nami still looked at the black-haired man for a few seconds before stating in a cheeky way ''ehh- you're weird!'' and started to look at the ocean aswell.
Luffy was very quite for a few seconds, thinking about those words, when his body started to sort of stiffen up and he began to almost aggressively ruffle through his hair before he almost shouted at her ''Nami! I'm not weird! Actually you are weird!''. He then suddenely proceeded to grab the surprised and speechless Nami by her face - and without any warning - kissed her very firmly on her mouth. She didn't even know what was happening in that moment but when she realised it, she tried to get Luffy off of her by pushing him away, making him fall back. ''What the heck are you doing?'' she screamed at him. Luffy just lied there on his back, speechless. Nami couldn't see his expression, since his hat flew in front of his face, concealing his expression. Overhelmed and in shock, she ran back into her room.
As she arrived there and shut the door, she let herself fall on her bed and began to cry. Her whole body felt like it was burning, although the big lump in her chest prevented her from making any sounds as the tears streamed down her face.
After some time, Nami finally calmed down a little and just lied there in her quiet room. As she heard someone knock against her door softly. ''Come in'' she said, knewing that it hat to be Luffy. He slowly openend the door as he saw Nami sitting up in her bed and quickly rubbing away some dried out tears from her face.
''I'm sor-'' Luffy said but got interrupted by Nami shushing him. ''You don't have to apologize'' she calmly said, looking at him with her hazel eyes. Nami then patted with her hand on the bed, wanting Luffy to sit beside her. He followed the signs. As he sat down Nami said ''I'm sorry for earlier, i pushed you almost over the edge''. She looked at him expectantly waiting for a response but he just looked at her starteled, since he didn't expect to hear an apology from her in that moment. For a few moments they just sat there in awkward silence when Luffy broke it by asking Nami ''but why are you crying then?''.
Nami being made aware of this felt the heat rush up to her face and ears, immediatly looking to the ground. She felt embarassed for her behavior. ''Uhm..'' she stuttered ''I mean, you... you kissed me''. Hearing those words, made the captain go red from ear to ear aswell, answering ''yeah... can't deny this, but was it so bad that it made you cry?'' Luffy looked at her with his red face, worried to hear that he did everything wrong. ''Huh? NO!'' Nami almost screamed the answer, but immediately covered her mouth in shock with both of her hands after hearing what she just said. They both stared at each other with wide opened eyes, when Luffy abruptly started to smirk and ask her ''so was it good?''. Nami somehow got back her attitude after seeing Luffy so confidently and showed him her tongue and sassily answered his question by saying ''it wasn't bad! it was awful!'' followed by laughing warmheartedly. Luffy looked at her slightly offended, stating ''I can surely do better!''
On which Nami answered with a stuck-up face ''I doubt it, you were pretty stiff before'', not knowning why she just practically challengend him to kiss her again, but she didn't take bake her words still. Luffy, of course, got very encouraged by those words to prove her wrong, eventhough he also feared to do it wrong again.
Nevertheless, the captain slowly leaned towards his navigatress, who forgot to breath in anticipation seeing Luffy coming up closer and closer to her face. As his lips touched hers, the blood rushed through their entire bodies, making them feel hot and weak at the same time. Nami felt Luffys rough lips on hers, tasting the ocean salt on them. They just kissed once, touching each others lips only for a short moment. Luffy then looked at Nami, seeing her eyes slowly opening, not saying a word, as they drowned in each others glare. When Luffy noticed her looking at his mouth again, he quickly leaned in for another kiss, to taste her soft mouth with the taste of tangerines. This time they let their lips melt together, much rougher and passionate than before. As Nami opened his lips with her tongue, Luffys mind went almost crazy, feeling her like that for the first time, making him press his body against hers naturally. Going on like that, not caring about anything else anymore, the heat made the captain undress his shirt while still not letting go of the kiss. Nami almost didn't remarked him taking of his shirt, but she stopped abruptly when she did, asking her entranced captain while staring at his muscular (now naked) upper body ''um...Luffy what are you doing?'' - ''it's too hot in here'' answering her while he tried to lean in to continue, where they stopped. ''No, no, no...this is going to far! We're going to get in trouble...'' Nami said exhaustedly while pressing Luffys lips together with her hand to prevent him from carrying on. ''Bwut washnt it good?'' he almost desperately asked, still having his mouth shut by Nami. As she gently let him go by pushing his face away and stood up from the bed, she said sassily ''I would say you still need some training!... and now get out here!'' she told him taking him and his shirt, shoving him out of the door. ''But Nami...!'' Luffy's last words before Nami shut the door before his nose, then gliding slowly, her back against the door, to sit on the floor, hiding her glowing red face in her knees. ''Honestly you don't need training anymore Luffy'' she whispered to herself, embarassed but also somehow happy.
