Chapter Two
"And that's pretty much how it happened," Alastor said quietly as the others stared at him.
"Whoa whoa whoa, you killed your wife over a plate?" Angel asked in a judgemental tone and Charlie quickly shushed him.
"Thank you for sharing Al, I know that must have been hard." She started.
"It wasn't about the plate, it wasn't even about her. Vivian was the love of my life, and if I could have taken it back I would have. I just lost control." Alastor told Angel, that guilty feeling creeping back up inside of him.
"We all have bad days, that don't mean ya get to take it out on the people who love ya." Angel barked. Angel had never had a love like that when he was alive, but he had he wouldn't have killed them. Alastor teared up and hid his face.
"I uh… I need to go." Alastor said and got up from his chair. Alastor went to his room and broke down into tears. He pulled out a locket with Vivian's picture in it, he had one of his minions search the earth for it after he died so he could have it.
"Oh, my precious doe." He said through tears. Radio static and unintelligible voices fill the room and he covered his ears and sobbed. "What have I done?" He asked himself. Alastor eventually cried himself to sleep. He awoke much later when Charlie knocked on his door a few hours later.
"Al, Vaggie made dinner if you're hungry. I can bring it up if you'd like, it's meatloaf and potatoes." She said through the door. He stood up and brushed himself off before going to the door.
"I suppose I could eat." He said. His eyes were red and puffy from crying.
"I had a talk with Angel about interrupting during group therapy, it won't happen again," Charlie assured him.
"He's right, I had a bad day and took it out on the love of my life. I don't deserve redemption." Alastor sighed and Charlie frowned.
"Alastor, I won't sugar coat it, what you did was horrible, but I believe everyone is capable of redemption if you truly want to change." She said. "Now, let's have dinner and try not to think about it." She added. Alastor at his differ quietly across from a still very miffed Angel. Alastor still wasn't sure why Angel was so angry, he hadn't known Vivian personally. Perhaps it was just that Angel could relate to someone who had been abused as Vivian had been in the final moments of her life.
Little did any of them know, Vivian lived and worked just down the street from the hotel. Alastor had always figured she had gone to heaven, but her wild streak prior to their marriage had landed her a spot in hell. Ever since landing in hell, Vivian had embraced her sinful side, she was no longer the sweet demure debutant Alastor had fallen in love with. She now ran the best brothel in hell under the name Madam V.
Vivian was deeply adored by her girls and she took good care of them. She was the opposite of Val, the girls stayed because she made life at the brothel safe and fun. Violent customers were kicked out and banned immediately and none of the girls were trapped in contracts. She made the girls dinner every night, but never venison, she couldn't handle the smell.
That night as she served soup and bread to her girls they told her about the Hazbin Hotel. She sat down and lit her pipe while the girls ate, she never ate until they were finished.
"Madam V., you should check it out. If anyone would be a good candidate for redemption it's you." One of the girls told her as she dipped her bread in her soup.
"I'll look into it, but I don't want to leave my gals." She said as she smoked. After the girls finished their dinner, Vivian made herself a bowl from what was left. After eating she went to her room and laid down. She thought back to the good times she had with Alastor. When they first started going out he had been such a gentleman, he held doors for her, pulled out her chair, and he never tried anything, but the latter soon became a problem. Vivian waited till their wedding night, which had been difficult for her, but when that night came it wasn't what she had expected.
*Flashback*
After the festivities, Vivian and Alastor went to the cabin her parents had rented for them. They went to the bedroom and started necking. Vivian went to take his clothes off and he backed up a bit.
"My precious doe, you know I love you, right?" He asked and she nodded.
"Well, of course, Al." She said, "What's the matter?" She asked.
"I just, I don't have much… interest in certain intimate activities." He explained, blushing with embarrassment.
"Am I not pretty enough?" Vivian asked tearing up a bit. He frowned and gently touched her cheek, drying her tears with his thumb.
"No, no, my dear precious doe. You're gorgeous. I've just never had an interest in sex, with anyone." He elaborated. She nodded in understanding.
"Al, I'm not sure how this is going to work, I have needs and I want kids." She told him. "But you are my husband and I love you, I will make this work." She added.
"No, we will make this work," He said, gently grabbing her hand. The two did eventually make love, but it was short-lived and Alastor wasn't able to complete the task. Most nights Vivian excused herself to the bathroom for a long shower before bed. It broke Al's heart when he heard her screaming 'I love you.' to the bathroom faucet. Vivian understood Alastor's feelings and never tried pushing the issue, but it was difficult for her, especially when she came to realize he'd never be able to give her a baby.
*End of Flashback*
"Al, I made so many sacrifices for you. I wanted to grow old with you." She whispered to herself in her slowing dimming room.
