We are running toward the closest town that we could get to. Thankfully Mew was helping around the wild pokemon to get off our back, so we don't have to worry about it. Both of us slowed down when we got far enough. I thankfully went to look back in my bag and found a pair of headphones, a Samsung phone, some solar chargers, some food, and several other supplies. Whoever sent me here did not skip out anything.
The phone, unfortunately, had nothing other than my music, a map of the Torren Region, and the internet knockoff, the Pokenet, so we managed to get out of this Shade forest to Telnor Town with the map. I decided to put on headphones and play a random song on it. It's funny how I have all of the songs in there with a few new songs in it.
Mika and I were walking casually taking in the beauty of the Shade Forest. I even caught a few glimpses of a few Pokemon. There were some Nidorans running around, Caterpies, Weedles, and Blipbugs hanging from the tree, and a pack of Alolan Rattatas and Patrats scouring around. I even caught a few Cutieflies flying around.

I stopped and turned back to see the Blipbugs, the Alolan Rattatas, and the Cutieflies. I rubbed my eyes and looked back again. The Pokemon that should not be there was still in my sights.

I took a deep breath and put up a mantra in my head. This is fine. I am fine. The world is fine. Everything is fine.

It's not fine. It's not fine! IT'S NOT FINE!
Why are they there!? I know that I don't have full memory of this game, but I am pretty sure Pokemon Insurgence didn't have any Pokemon past Gen 6. I don't understand! Why are they there!?
All of a sudden, I had Mika hug me out of nowhere. I froze since I didn't really like being touched, but calmed down a lot more than I am. "Mika, what are you doing?" I asked. "You looked like you were gonna go through another panic attack again and I thought this would make you feel better." She said with a bright blush on her face.
"Well, thanks for that." I said meekly. I am not used to girls hugging whatsoever, but it doesn't feel bad. "Thanks for that Mika." I responded as I pat her head. She squeaked quite cutely as she let go of me. I can hear Mew laughing at us, and I grew a small tick mark because of her? It? Don't know, but I did feel better with Mika being around.
Though I don't know why I am panicking so much? I was usually calmer and less expressive. Did the person who sent me her change something about me?
I took a big breath and calmed down a bit. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that I need to be safe with Mika and get past the threats and the crazy cultists. It is just now harder when there are now more pokemon and even more legendary pokemon to consider. I also might need to consider Z-moves and Dynamax.
Fuck, I don't want to imagine if Jaren got a hand of a Mega Rayquaza that is doing either a Z-move or a Dynamax. Damn, that would just be devastating.
After my small breakdown of this revelation and Mika comforting me, we decide to go into Telnor Town since it seems the safest. We got to the entrance, and Mew disappeared and left Mika a note and a white flute. She picked both up, and read the note. I already knew who her benefactor is, but I can't really tell her for her safety. Besides, I don't want to ruin her reunion with her father. Before we started to move, we heard a person shouting at us. We turned to see who it was.
There was a 15-year-old kid with white hair and a pale green shirt with brown jeans. He was running toward us shouting about something. I kinda want to imagine a Borderlands intro for the important cast. Maybe I should do that in my head to jazz it up a bit since I have some idea of who they are. Alright time to introduce…

THE OVEREAGER NAIVE "RIVAL!"
Yeah, I am doing that in my head to make it a lot more funnier than it should be. I giggled while Mika looked at me weirdly for just laughing out of nowhere.
"Heeeeyyyy!" God, or Arceus in this case I guess, does that boy have some powerful lungs! I can hear them through my headphones!
"Did you see that Mew!? Did you see it!? Don't tell me that it's just my figment of imagination!?" He rapidly fired these questions at us, and we could barely keep up with the questions. Mika looked a bit dazed from all of that, so I took over the conversation.
"Yeah no dude, we did not see the Mew. I think you are imagining things." I calmly lied to him. As much as I like him, he doesn't seem to know when to shut his mouth.
"Huh, really? I could have sworn..." He mutters. He shook his head and turned to us with a big smile. "Anyways I'm Damien and I am an aspiring Trainer! Who are you guys?" Mika replied after she got her bearings.
"I'm Mika and this is Shin." She greeted Damien. "Yo what up?" as I waved at him. Damien had a weird look on his face when looking at us. I was wondering what he was thinking about?
"So you two a couple?"
Both Mika and I blushed at the same time when Damien asked us that question. Mika quickly replied. "No no no! We are just… traveling buddies right now." I cooled my face, but raised my eyebrows at "right now." Does she have feelings for me? No way, we barely just met, and personally, I don't think I'm that great in a relationship. There is no way...
Right?
"Huh, you guys seem to be wearing similar clothes so..." Damiens shrugs. "So you guys came at the perfect time! The Augur is coming to town and I'm helping by preparing for his arrival. Are you guys excited?" Mika looked a little bit confused at the statement. "Who is the Augur?" Damien looked appalled at Mika for not knowing the Augur and went on a tangent explaining about the Augur.
I tuned out the explanation since I knew what kind of person the "Augur" really is. I just hope I can train enough with Mika so we can at least hold something against his stupid Mega Rayquaza. Thankfully there are more Pokemon to choose from since we now have access to gen 8, so I should have some plans.
"Hey, Shin! You there?" I felt someone poking my forehead and looked back at the group. Mika was looking at me funny, so I just put up a face to ease her worry. "I'm just thinking. Don't worry about me." I reassured them. It did release Mika from her mood, so that was a plus.
"Hey, why don't you join us at the festival? Come on, it'll be fun." Damien exclaimed. He then rushed toward a huge white hall. "So do you want to go with him?" I asked Mika. Mika nodded, and we followed toward the huge white hall.
We entered the hall, and I saw that Damien was arguing with his mother. Man, she really didn't want him to be a trainer. I decided to intervene in the conversation before it took an ugly turn.
"Hello, what seems to be the issue?" The mayor, I think, turned to us with some relief. "Hello, are you new to this town?"
"Why, yes are. My name is Shin and this is Mika." I responded. Mika greeted back politely.
"Hello, are you Pokemon Trainers? Then do you mind helping Damien to get a gift for the Augur? We need someone to get it from the Telnor Cave, and unfortunately, Damien's mother won't let her son get a pokemon. Do you mind going with him as assurance?" The mayor requested. "We would love to, but we don't have pokemon ourselves." Miku said. "Don't worry about that, I am sure Professor Sylvan can provide you with an Eevee as your starter." The mayor answered.
I put up a smile and responded, "We don't mind at all. What do you think, Mika?"
"I don't mind at all." Mika responded. The mayor looked relieved. "Then this should solve the issue about Damien getting his first Pokemon doesn't it?" The woman didn't look happy, but she agreed with Damien's mood improving. "Good, Damien, why don't you lead your new companions to Professor Sylvan to get your pokemon."
"Alright! Thanks, Shin and Mika! Race you there!" Damien rushes off to the lab. "Wait, you are supposed to lead them!" his mother shouted. "It's fine. I think we can find where it can be." I still know where we can be since I did play this before after all. Both Mika and I ran toward the lab where we can get our first pokemon.
I already know the choices, and not gonna lie, I am already excited about what I want to get as my starter pokemon.
THIRD P.O.V
In the shadow, where anybody didn't pay attention to, there was a small shadow that was looking at the direction where the edgelord, his partner, and Mew's chosen were running toward. It's funny watching them. He giggled while following them without revealing his location…
MY P.O.V
We both entered the lab with Damien waiting at the entrance.
"What was taking you so long, you guys!?"
"You were the one who was running ahead and not telling us direction." I retorted. Damien then looked a little sheepish for ditching us, then changed to his dopey happy face. "Well come on, let's get our pokemon!"
"Wait, Damien!" Mika shouted, but it was too late. Damien just went inside the lab with Mika following him. I signed and entered with him.
There we saw equipment laying around. Damien and Mika were looking around the lab amazed, but I was looking straight at the two people. There was the professor as I expected. She had a pretty face that was covered in wavy blue hair with the anime scientist's glasses on her face. She was wearing the white lab coat and what I am assuming a white blouse with blue boots. She seems to be angry about something. This is Professor Sylvan.
PROFESSOR SYLVAN
THE ONE GIVING YOU THE STARTER
She was arguing with someone that had my full attention. He was wearing a black fedora hat with a black trench jacket. Inside he seems to be wearing a white suit and black dressing suits. He was way too menacing that I felt too uncomfortable around. There was Reukra the Perfectionist Cult leader.
REUKRA
GIOVANNI 2.5 NOW WITH A COMPLEX AND A CULT
"Look no one wants to take these freaks. I cannot take them any longer in my labs. If I let them be they will die in the wild. All I want you to do is to take them. You already keep a bunch of Eevees as a Professor. What's a few more gonna do?" Reukra stated.
"Okay, okay... I'll take them, but why would you even... Oh hello, kids!" Professor Sylvan changed the subject quickly when she saw us. I kinda twitched at being called a 'kid.' "Why are you here, if I may ask?"
"Um... We came here to get our starters." Damian replied nervously.
"I'll be going now. If you don't need them, ask the kids to take one for a starter. Take care." Said Reukra. "Now I'll be on my way." He then made his exit, but he stopped to look at me. I shifted uncomfortably, but then he went on his way. In what way was I interesting to him? Did I possibly hijack this body, and he knows the original owner? Whatever I can get my answer later when I either beat him with my Pokemon or with my fist.
"Okay, kids I'm Professor Sylvan. It seems that today is your lucky day! Because aside from everyday Eevee you can choose a Delta Pokémon!" Sylvan said. "Do you know what Delta Pokémon is?"
"I think that they are Pokemon with different typing and appearance, but unlike the regional variants from the Alolan and Galar region, Delta Pokemon are a lot stronger than their normal counterpart, and their DNA is scrambled to make them unbreedable with any Pokemon except maybe a Delta Ditto." Mika answered without thinking.
Huh, I guess she has some memories in her with the incomplete Dream Eater. Wait, is that the biggest difference between the Deltas and regional variants? They had the same stats in the game, but I guess that makes sense in reality. I mean the Delta pokemon can learn some crazy unique moves or crazy typing such as Delta Pidgeot's Medusa Ray or Delta Chandelure's typing.
"Correct. You now have a choice between Delta Bulbasaur, Delta Charmander, and Delta Squirtle." stated the Professor. "You can decide by taking one of the starters or talking with me to get an Eevee."
"Hey, why don't you guys go first?" Damien said. "I think I will make my choice afterward."
"Alright. Professor, do you mind letting them out so we can see them?" Miku requested. The professor complied, letting all of the pokeballs open.
The first that came out was a female Delta Bulbasaur. It had pink skin with a purple bulb on its back. It also had a white flower on its head. Next came out the Delta Squirtle. Its color has changed to a more black menacing look with bandanas wrapped all over it. The last, and the one I always wanted was the Delta Charmander. It was more of a skeletal Charmander with extra horns on its head with the purple fire on the tip of its tail.
I wanted to move first, but Mika beat me to the punch. She went straight for the Bulbasaur and was squealing like crazy while hugging her. "Aww! Aren't you just the cutest!? Want to come with me, Bulby?" Mika cried. All of us, including the pokemon, sweatdropped except for the Bulbasaur who returned the affection with her vines wrapping against her. She already gave it a name.
I could see the anime hearts flying out of here. I thought that only happens in TVs, not in real life?
"Well, I'm guessing that you chose the cute one." I retorted. "Come on she looks so adorable doesn't she?" Mika beamed. "Yeah, you both look cute together," I commented offhandedly. Mika blushes and turns around.
Shaking my head, I went toward the Charmander as Mika continues to be with her Bulbasaur. "Hey, want me to be your partner?" I asked the Charmander. The Charmander looked up and down at me and decided to leap around my neck. "Hey! Calm down there little buddy!" The Charmander decided to wrap around my neck like some sort of bone scarf and rested there. I don't mind it, but it does seem to add to the whole edgelord shit to me.
"Hey want a name there, buddy?" I asked. The Charmander looked at me and nodded. "Alright, then you are named Phantom." Phantom preened at the name, liking it a lot as its name. I should figure out the gender so I don't mistake it for later.
I turned toward Mika who was giving me a pointed look. "You know it doesn't help with your edgelord stick going on with you." Mika commented dryly. I again gained another twitch while Damien went toward the Squirtle.
"I think I will choose Squirtle. I don't think that Pokemon should be left out from the trio. Besides, it seems to match with the three of us." said Damien as he picked up Squirtle. The Squirtle kinda grunted. I guess it's the dark-type edginess.
"Hey Shin?" I perked up. "Why didn't you pick Squirtle? He seems to match with your whole look." I deadpanned at Damien for asking that. Mika was giggling at my expense. Seriously I am finding the nearest store and changing my outfit a bit.
"Now that you got your starter, let me give you your Pokedex, your DexNav, and your Pokemon Box-Link." said the professor. I paid attention to that because that was only in the Galar region. Do the Galar and Alolan region exist here then? Mika also looks confused.
"DexNav? Box-Link? What is that?" She asked.
The professor replied, "The DexNav can help you find rare Pokemon, as well as the Pokemon Box Link, is like a portable PC where you can switch your pokemon out wherever you are. The downsides are that you can't use it during battle, and it doesn't heal your pokemon immediately. You should register it at the Pokemon Center we have here."
That was really helpful. I guess we can carry more than six pokemon and can train multiple of them. I really want to catch all sorts of Delta and regular pokemon to use. I just hope it is enough.
"Thanks, Professor! Hey, Shin! Mika! Let's battle each other!" Damien wanted to battle one of us. "Nah, I think I will pass. Mika, want to face Damien?" I asked Mika. "Yeah, it would be fun! Let's go Bulby!"
Damien and Mika went outside to battle each other, but I didn't go with them. It would be useful to see how to do Pokemon battle, but I would like to check my own Pokemon. Besides I know that Mika is gonna win just by type advantage since Delta Squirtle is four times weak to Fairy, and Bulby carries Fairy Wind. I turned my Pokedex to Phantom to check what this guy has so I can start planning.
=Delta Charmander. A Delta Species discovered by Echo. While the flame on its tail does not appear immediately after its birth, it burns more fiercely with age. This Delta Charmander is Male with the ability Spirit Call. It knows Scratch, Growl, Twister, Ember, and Confuse Ray=
I raised my eyebrows at this new information. It seems that the developers' avatars are here rather than the developers themselves. There goes that plan to ask them to leave. It also seems like I was correct that pokemon can learn more than 4 moves. I wonder what is the upper limit to this. I mean Pokemon Insurgence breaks the level cap to 120, so what could happen here?
I also paid closer to the moves that Phantom carries: Ember and Confuse Ray. Delta Charmander shouldn't learn Confuse Ray til a little bit later, and it doesn't even get Ember at all. Guess there are some changes that are happening.
I broke out of my thinking when I heard Mika cheering. It seems like I was right on her winning. I went outside to greet Damien and Mika where Damien is on the ground looking like those anime characters depressed on the ground. I snorted, and Mika turned toward me with a confident smile. "Hey, Shin want to face me? I think Bulby can go another round!" I look at Bulby, and she seems excited to go another round.
I thought that this might be good practice so may as well go against Miku. I shrugged and stood on the other side. Phantom got off of my shoulder and went to a battle stance. We got ready for the battle, and I made the first move.
"Phantom, Scratch her up close, then surround her with Twister to cut off her vision!"
"Bulby! Growl, and use Fairy Wind to counter the Twister!"
Phantom went close and tried to scratch her, but Bulby growled, lowering my attack. Phantom hit Bulby but didn't do that much damage. Then Phantom unleashed a twister to surround Bulby, but she blew it away with her Fairy-type.
I grimace considering I'm at a huge type disadvantage when it comes to the other two starters. I then had an idea.
"Phantom, Confuse Ray Bulby and hit her constantly with Ember!"
Mika got shocked and tried to give out a command to dodge, but it was too late. Phantom released the purple orb that hit Bulby. Bulby then got confused and was hitting herself. Phantom then barraged her with Embers that were hitting her. The small fire managed to burn her so it definitely gave us a chance.
"Bulby! Focused and hit Phantom with Fairy Wind!" Bulby broke out of the confusion and unleashed a gust of pink wind. Shit! I didn't know what to do since I don't have any good moves to block that! This is a lot harder than I was expecting!
Because of me, Phantom got hit with that pretty hard and was flying off. He grunted and got up, a lit bit shakily.
"Alright, Bulby! Land another Fairy Wind!" Bulby looked ready to unleash another gust.
I had to give an order soon to not get hit by that, or it's game over for me. Then I came up of a Crazy Idea. It had to work or else I would lose.
"Phantom! Mix Ember with your Twister to block it!" Phantom was shocked by the command, but he shook his head and decided to mix the attack. It was a last-ditch effort, but we couldn't just stand there! Then something strange happened that I wasn't expecting. I saw something happening to Phantom. I saw Phantom glowing for some reason.
Phantom unleashed a really big tornado filled mixing the blue and orange flames together! It was bigger than the original Twister, and even with Ember, it shouldn't be that big!
"Bulby! Move!" But it was too late. The gust of wind got blown away and hit Bulby really hard.
There was a huge dust cloud covering the field. "Hey Mika, are you okay!?" I wanted to make sure she is okay. "I'm fine, Shin! Where's Bulby!?" She responded. Eventually, the dust cleared and we saw what happened. Bulby was laying down unconscious with Phantom standing high. I guess I won? We both were pretty shocked. Mika got over it first.
"Woah, that was really cool, Shin! How did you know that would work?" Mika asked. I shook my head. "Maybe a miracle happened?" I answered in a joking manner. My mind however is wondering what happened. Bulbasaur shouldn't have been taken down by that much. I only hit it with a weakened Scratch and a few Embers. Sure it was burned, but that is not enough to get hit with that attack, especially since Bulby is immune to Dragon-types.
I then realized that the glow from Phantom must have given him something. Who or what gave Phantom that boost?
THIRD P.O.V
The small shadow was giggling at that sight. He wanted to meet him so badly, but unfortunately, it isn't the time yet. He did give him his power, but he does seem to be interesting. Especially of his origin. That is too much to pass. The small shadow decided to disappear before it gets found. Hopefully, he will meet his partner soon.
Hey, so I decided to make this back to back. I also decided to introduce the rest of the generation because why not? In all seriousness, I thought it would make some exciting changes that I can change toward the storyline. I am debating whether to do Dynamax and Z-moves. I am gonna see what I want to do. Besides, that is not all of the surprises that I have for this series. Anyways, I am also gonna try to do a borderland intro for most of the cast.
