Teito was eating lunch with Mikage when the latter told him something. "Later in the afternoon, you have to go to the Chief of Staff, Ayanami. My superior told me."
Teito's eyes went wide as he asked. "And what does he want from me?"
Mikage put his opinion in. "If I have to guess, the Chief of Staff himself is impressed with your scores and your skills enough to induct you to the Black Hawks."
"What are the Black Hawks?"
"Best of the best of the military. It is said that they are handpicked by the Chief of Staff himself to handle things that the military doesn't send its forces to do. I've also heard rumors that there also Warsfeil among their ranks." Mikage explained.
"What's a Warsfeil?" Teito asked. He may have listened to his lessons and all but he never heard of this.
Mikage tried to explain to the best of his ability. "Evil beings that prey on humans like vampires and they can do a lot of destruction. They're dark sorcerers that can control nasty black magic."
Teito asked. "You think I should go?"
Mikage answered. "I think you should. Given how the Chief's been keeping an eye on you for quite some time. Given your grades and your skills, I can see why."
"Alright. I'll go to him."
"Best of luck to you. The Chief isn't one to be crossed with." Mikage said, Teito nodded.
(Four hours later)
Teito asked for directions and is directed to the office. He met up with the Chief sitting in front of his desk with a contemplative look.
He noticed Teito and said. "I have seen your grades and your abilities in passing the Begleiter exam. I have need of the best of the academy for my Black Hawks. That's why I'm recommending you."
He droned on. "My name is Ayanami and I am the Chief of Staff in the military or so you've heard. While your skills are good enough, they can be better as I can assure you that I know which areas need improvement. I can assign you to some of my members who can teach you things the academy hasn't taught you yet."
"If you are to join, know that you are in for life. We take care of our own and if you obey my orders and tasks with diligence and obedience, we will make sure you too are treated fair. Fail and you are to be eliminated." Ayanami said, looking at Teito who stood in proper posture.
"So, Teito Klein. Will you join us?"
"I'm ready to join sir."
Ayanami smirked. "Very good. Please introduce yourself to the other members so that you will have no further misgivings about them then come back to me. There is a private..matter I wish to discuss with you.."
Teito saluted then left Ayanami's office.
