Chapter 2: A Flowing River
Raisa woke up, her vision fuzzy and her head splitting. She seemed to be in a sort of bed, as she slowly came to consciousness. She tried to take in the surrounding noises as much as she could, but strangely she didn't hear anything that hinted to the monsters last night. She instead heard running water, and was able to make out a figure in blue robes.
"Ah, you finally woke up. I know you have many questions but drink this, you should feel better." The figure said as it picked up a bowl with a blue liquid inside, it glowed faintly as well. He set it down next to her and went over to a brewing stand. Her throat felt dry and she didn't hesitate to drink from the bowl quickly. As she took one last sip, she instantly felt much better and was able to take in everything surrounding her. Her armor was slightly broken and worn down, and she was in a house made of a strange wood and stone. The stone was dark purple and the wood was lavender, for some reason. Then, she looked at the person who had taken her in. He was a tall figure in blue robes with light leather armor visible on some parts of it. But then she came to a horrifying realization. This person wasn't human. He didn't have skin or bones. He was completely made of water. "AH! What the hell are you?" The strange water creature had a sad face for a second them sighed. Raisa quickly reached for her bow until she realized it was gone. "I was afraid you would have this reaction so I took your weapons. Strange arrows, by the way. Why are they made that way?" It tilted its head. Raisa thought back to when she read books of magic creatures to identify this 'thing' and her eyes widened. "Y-Your kind is supposed to be dead!
The book was called "Monsters Of Hollowshard". Raisa eagerly opened it and started looking through the pages. She was interested in magic and other kinds of sorcery from the moment she first heard of it. She had a big smile on her face as she skimmed pages, wanting to start with the coolest looking thing. She stopped on something that caught her eye. A man made of fire. The title of the page was ELEMENTALS. The book described they were humanoid creatures made of a specific element and held together by a giant mana pool they had. They could control one of the 4 basic elements, Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. They were the strongest magical race known by far. Raisa pondered to herself if she would ever meet one and beamed at the thought of becoming one of their friends. She read the last sentence. "This race has gone missing for two years, and are all presumed to be dead."
"Yes, I should explain that." The elemental said before walking over, holding out a hand. "I am Fluvis, one of the last 4 elementals alive." Raisa just sat in wonder. How was this thing alive? There were three more? Who were they? Where were they? She snapped out of her trance as she slowly took the hand of 'Fluvis' and shook it. "I-I'm Raisa Ironforge. Can I ask some questions?" "Sure, but first I need to establish some things." He replied. She nodded, before he continued. "If I am right, you come from the Iron Fields. So why the hell was a Wraith holding you?"
"A... Wraith? What's that?" "You know, the ghostly creature holding you." He answered, like she should know. "I don't know what they are, all I knew is that a nearby village I was in was attacked and destroyed by them and they took me and ran off." She explained, still confused. "Well damn, they're getting desperate. Enough about those wraiths, what do you need to know?" A thousand questions ran through her mind, before she settled on important ones. "Where am I?" "You're in Hollowshard, where else?" She suddenly felt excited, coming here was her childhood dream and she finally made it. "Where are we right now?" "You're in my house, its for me and the 3 other elementals, my brothers." Right, she had to ask about the other elementals. "Who are your brothers?" "Well first off, I am the oldest of them all. My brothers are elementals of all other types. Its sort of hard to explain them, so you'll just have to see for yourself." At that moment, his arm had expanded and stretched as he grabbed a book off of a nearby shelf. "Here, a book all about elementals so you wont be as confused when you meet them. Any other questions?" He tossed the book and Raisa catching it. Most of her questions would be answered by this book so she had one more to ask. "What was in that bowl?" "Well, I am considered a 'Defective' ice elemental. My ability to control ice is extremely limited, but in turn I was able to create healing water. When brewed into a potion or drink it is very potent." Interesting, she never thought elementals could have powers like that. "One last question. Where is my equipment?" "Upstairs, I took the liberty of upgrading your bow and made you new armor that's suited for Archers. You're gonna have to tell me what those arrows are later so I can make them. I'm going to be heading out now, don't break anything." Raisa couldn't ask him what anything else as he quickly slipped out the door. She sat in silence for a second, before getting up. She looked around and saw a ladder leading up. She was interested to sea what he had made. She climbed the ladder, and walked over to armor stand and weapon rack. She picked up a piece of paper that was left next to the armor stand.
The armor is made of Hollecite. Its a ore that makes lightweight but efficient equipment. This should give you some decent defense and agility. Its easy to repair so just ask me if you ever need it. I enchanted your bow with Unbreaking II and Tailwind I. Tailwind increases the speed of your arrows when fired. For now, you should read that book.
Raisa replaced her cracked armor and took her enchanted bow and quiver. If Fluvis could do things like this, she would definitely have to tell him about the arrows. She went back down and sat on the bed. She took out the book, and opened it.
