Out of all the kingdoms in Remnant, Vacuo would have to be the most difficult to live in. It's a large kingdom with deserts and sands as far as the eye can see. It's also home of some of the most savage Grimm in Remnant, which means it requires some pretty tough Huntsmen and Huntresses.

In Vacuo, there was a tavern with no name. Inside were plenty of shady people who may or may not be even Huntsmen. They exchanged wild stories and showed off their weapons until the door opened up. A man walked in with a red cape, messy hair, a nearly-shaven beard, a sword on his back, and a flask of alcohol at his hip. He walked up to the bartender who gave her smile toward him.

"Qrow Branwen, as I live and breathe."

"Hey, Cinn." The drunkard called Qrow greeted as he sat down. "Am I unbanned yet?"

"Depends. Are you here for business or pleasure?" Cinn asked.

"Which one lets me stay?" Qrow chuckled. "Actually, I'm on a special assignment."

Cinn frowned. "You're always so busy."

"Don't be like that." Qrow said. "Look, I'm just checking around to see if there's anything that needs my attention. Anything strange perhaps?"

Cinn thought for a moment before turning her head at the corner. There sat a messy-looking man who shook the drink in his hand. "Now that you mention it, Glenn over there claims to have seen some kind of monster in the desert."

"A Grimm?" Qrow asked.

"Not a Grimm. He said it was a massive monster that was neither human nor Grimm. He didn't say much after that and he hasn't left that table since. If you don't mind…"

"Sounds interesting." Qrow said. "I'll check it out. Thanks, Cinn."

Qrow removed himself from his seat and walked over to Glenn's booth. He sat right in front of him nearly startling him for a bit.

"W-Who are you? What are you doing here?" Glenn asked nervously.

"Take it easy, buddy. The name's Qrow Branwen. I'm a Huntsmen traveling from Vale. I heard you think you saw a monster in the desert that wasn't a Grimm."

"Not think! I did see a monster!" Glenn insisted. "It was unlike anything I've ever seen! I was going through the desert when I heard a roar over in the distance, probably two miles away. I directed myself to steer clear of that, but then, an entire horde of Grimm showed up from the other end and chased after me. I rode through as quickly as I could… and that's when I ran into it."

"What's it?" Qrow asked.

"The monster." Glenn replied. "It looked like a man, but it was twice the size of a gorilla. It's skin was green as emeralds. And I felt a presence of pure rage and anger coming from it. When I found myself between the beast and the Grimm, I was afraid that I was about to die then and there. Then, the green monster roared so loudly, the sand around me blew into a crazy sandstorm. I saw my chance and ran to the side back to my skimmer. I rode away from the monsters as fast as I could. You gotta believe me."

"I believe… that I should look into it." Qrow said. "Do you know where this occurred?"

Glenn nodded and got up from the table. He lead Qrow out of the tavern and pointed into the distance where there was nothing seen there but sand. Qrow thanked Glenn for the directions and went on his own.

The night was only an hour away from ending. Qrow had walked through the desert for three hours with nothing to show any support for Glenn's sighting. He stopped walking and sighed.

"I should have known the guy wasn't in the right. He must have just been hallucinating from the sun. I guess I'll have to…"

RAAAAAAWWWWWWR!

The noise shook the ground beneath Qrow's feet. He changed his mind about Glenn's testimony and grabbed the hilt of his weapon. He held it up in its sword form and readied himself.

"Well, I stand corrected. There's definitely something out here."

He located the direction of the sound and ran toward it. He jumped up, and in his place, a black crow dashed through the air at breakneck speed.

As soon as he was close enough, Qrow returned from his previous form and landed on top of a sand dune. He looked down to see something he couldn't believe, and given that he's seen a lot, that's saying something.

At the field below, a large, green, man-like creature was surrounded by lots of Deathstalkers. It roared as he took one of them and ripped its tail off. It then used it to impale another as it got close enough. He then pressed it down further into the ground and threw it to the rest of the Grimm.

Suddenly, one of the sand hills behind the green creature exploded. In its place was a very large Beringel that roared at the green thing that roared back. The two of them crashed into each other and landed on top of each other. The Grimm and the green creature wrestled over the sand until the Grimm got the upper hand sending punches across the jade giant's face. It was about to finish it off, but suddenly, the creature bellowed roared in words.

"HULK… SMASH!"

The creature called Hulk clapped its hands right at the Beringel's face sending it flying up in the air for a moment. The Hulk got back up and grabbed the Grimm's ankles and threw it around faster and faster until he slammed it down. He jumped up even higher and crashed both his feet on it making it disappear for good. The Hulk took a deep breath before shouting into the sky.

"HULK IS STRONGEST THERE IS!"

"Whoa." Qrow commented quietly, but it wasn't quiet enough. The Hulk swiftly turned his head and looked up where Qrow was with flaring nostrils. "Uh, oh."

The Hulk jumped upward while Qrow took a few steps back changing his sword into a scythe. The Hulk landed in front of him giving off a monstrous roar… and nothing more. Qrow noticed that and saw that the monster in front of him was beginning to calm down. It may have been low, but it was still calm. Qrow took a good look at its eyes and observed for a second. That's when he widened his own and sheathed his scythe.

"You don't want to hurt me, do you?" Qrow guessed. "You don't want to hurt anyone. Glen, that guy from before. He said you roared so hard, you created a sandstorm. You weren't trying to hurt him. You were trying to shield him from the Grimm."

The Hulk breathed heavily for a moment before taking a big one. He calmly growled his answer. "I… I want to be alone."

"Why?" Qrow asked.

The Hulk frowned before replying. "Ask Banner."

"Who's Banner?" Qrow asked.

The Hulk didn't answer. He took a few more heavy breaths before beginning to shrink. Qrow stood back watching the Hulk's green skin change into a normal white, his dark-green hair became brown, and his supersized, muscular physique compressed into a slightly average figure. The man who was once the Hulk breathed normally as he opened his eyes to see the Huntsman.

"You shouldn't be here." He said.

"You must be Banner." Qrow said.

"Dr. Bruce Banner, thank you."

"Qrow Branwen."

"Good. Now, leave while you still can."

"Why? Didn't you say I had to talk to you?"

"No, the Hulk said that." Dr. Banner said. "He's… something that I've had for a while."

"You make him sound like he's a different person."

"In a way, he is. Whenever I get angry or really stressed, I turn into this raging monster that destroys anything he touches."

Qrow widened his eyes. "The Hulk… He's your Semblance, isn't he?" Bruce nodded. "How did this happen?"

Bruce sighed. "My hometown was attacked by Grimm. I ran with the rest of the citizens, but when I looked back, I saw a young man about to be struck by a King Taijutsu. It was probably out of instinct, but I ran back to save him. That's when it sank its fangs into me. I blacked out for a moment, but when I came to…" Bruce paused. "The Hulk was already born and he destroyed the Grimm along with the rest of the town. I returned to the rest of the townsfolk, but they didn't want anything to do with me. They were afraid of me, and I don't blame them. Do you know what it's like to have a Semblance that harms people around you and you have no control over it?"

Qrow chuckled. "Buddy, you just described my life. My Semblance is misfortune. I bring bad luck to people around me. And like you, I was treated like an outcast for it. But I did meet one man who was able to help me. And he can probably help you to."

Bruce raised his head full of hope. "Really? Do you think so?"

"Trust me. If Oz can't do it, no one can." Qrow assured.

Bruce smiled and left alongside Qrow. They made their way to Vale where Dr. Banner began his treatment from the Beacon headmaster.
