Five Years Old The Beginning
Javier's mother watched as another woman came up their steps to their front door. She looked to where her son was playing with some wooden toys on their front porch.
"Hello, I'm so thank for you to take the time to look at me," she said.
"No problem. I'm more than happy to get an inspection of you. You seem like a lovely lady," the woman spoke.
The woman stumbled for a moment, and a small frizzy haired girl tumbled out from behind her.
"Oh!" the small child squeaked.
"This is my Pollywog. Her father couldn't watch her today, and I figured that since you have a son around her age that the two could play together," the doctor spoke.
"Oh yes, my son, Javier, would be more than fine to play with your little girl," Javier's mother said.
She turned to her son who was quietly playing playing.
"Javi! Come see our new friends," she told him.
Her sweet son jumped up and saw the visitors to their house.
"¿Quienes son ellas?" Javier asked. (Who are they?)
"They're some friends who are here to help. Why don't you play with the little girl?" she suggested.
Javier toddled over and looked at the little girl.
"Pollywog, meet Javi," the doctor introduced.
"I'm Pollywog!" the girl shrilled out.
"I'm Javi," he introduced.
She began to practically bounce around him.
"I excited! Let's play! Play! Play!"
She grabbed his arm and took off with him. She pulled him around his yard.
"Stop! Stop!" he pulled his arm out of her grasp.
"But... but," her eyes welled up with tears.
He was very alarmed.
"Don't cry. I'll play with you, but don't grab me," he huffed.
"Okay!" she perked up.
She saw his pond behind him and took off.
"Frogs!"
She splashed into the water, and Javier jumped on top of her to keep her from going any farther out.
"Frogs!"
"Stop!" he pulled her out of the water.
"Frogs!"
Polly's and Javier's moms were watching them from the back porch. Javier's mom always got nervous about the pond at their age.
"Oh maybe we should go get them," she suggested.
"We're watching them, and if we see danger, we'll get them," the doctor waved off.
She wasn't gonna let her daughter drown. She just wanted to watch them for a moment longer. She liked observing their interactions.
"I'm not aloud in the pond," he ground out.
"Aww," she pouted, "But frogs."
"Tadpoles," he clarified, "It's tadpole season. My momma told me."
"I wanna tadpole!"
She jumped into the water but stayed near the edge and began to splash around after some.
Polly's mom had decided that Javier's mom had enough stress and decided to go grab the children from outside. They had been watching from the back porch the entire time the children were playing.
She walked out and grabbed her daughter who was still splashing around like a little frog. Poor Javier looked beat with exhaustion, so she grabbed him too.
"Come on, sweetie! It's bath time!" she cheered.
"Bath time! Bubbles!" Polly cheered.
Javier just leaned against her, asleep.
"Bubbles!" she agreed.
Soon the doctor had her daughter in a large shirt and fluffed up with a towel while Javier's mother had him all dried and dressed for bed too.
Polly was curled up around Javier who was also sleeping on the floor. They looked close already.
"Ooo! How cute!" the doctor cooed.
She bend down and rubbed her daughter's head.
"Son adorables, ¿no?" Javi's mother asked. (They are adorable, aren't they?)
"What?"
"Sorry I mean aren't they adorable?" she replied.
"Oh yes! Super cute! They'll be super cute together!"
Javi's mother bent down and whispered into her son's ear, "She's like a little frog, una ranita."
"Ra... ranita," he whispered sleepily.
"Si, una ranita," she whispered back.
"Maybe we should stay closer until you're better," the doctor suggested.
"But you're not a medical doctor?"
"No, but I would benefit greatly from learning about you," the doctor smiled at the little boy instead.
