Chapter 2: I'm free or am I
Jasper played with the long sleeves of her jacket as a way to pass time, before a loud crash could be heard echoing through the building.
Jasper's eyes widen in confusion when a half naked man with tall blue hair runs past her with something in his unnaturally shaped hand.
"Hey today is your lucky day, all of the buyers took off unless you like being a slave. I would get out of here when you still can." Franky said before throwing the ring of key at the group of slaves.
When it was finally Jasper's turn, she let out a sigh of relief after the heavy piece of metal was now off her sore and stiff neck.
Having trouble moving around because of her gun wound, the giant that stood proud and tall above everyone noticed Jasper was having trouble doing the basic task of walking. So he bent down, picked her up by her jacket and laid her across his shoulder.
"Thanks, I owe you one." Jasper thanked with pure gratitude toward the male giant.
"No need, that show you pulled off earlier was really something." He responded before busting down a wall to where the slaves could escape.
After they got a good distance away from the auction house, Jasper jumped down from the giant's shoulder and started waving him bye.
"Good luck little lassie, I hope we meet again." The giant said as they both went their separate ways.
"Goodbye and thank you again." Jasper responded before she could hear a loud explosion nearby. Jasper peeked from where she was crouching down at the end of a cliff, and saw 2 supernova pirate crews fighting against a warlord.
"Is that a Polar Bear?" Jasper muttered to herself after the polar bear tried to kick the warlord by its leg, only to cry in pain while holding his stubby leg.
Law then uses his power to switch places with the injured polar bear with the large former slave.
Not caring about what's going to happen next, Jasper runs away from the fight scene while not looking back.
Stormy gray eyes follow Jasper's every movement, taking mental notes on the woman's current appearance. Rather if she likes it or not, even if he has to drag her by the hair onto his submarine, Law will make that woman join his crew. *Run, run, little girl but you can't hide from the Surgeon Of Death .* Law thought to himself in glee.

After staying in a shady alley for the past 2 days, Jasper has finally decided to take a nice stroll around the archipelago while drinking a bottle of sake. As she kept on walking and enjoying her freedom, a group of slave traffickers had gang up on her, which made her wipe the sake off her mouth and cracked her knuckles while smirking.
"You're our ticket to being millionaires, now come with us little lady." The leader demanded with a toothy grin. "Leave me alone, jackass." Jasper scoffs while getting into a fighting stance.
Having a little trouble throwing a simple kick since her bullet wound hadn't been properly treated because going to a hospital as a runaway slave is still too risky.
So all she did was wrap bandages around her torso, not even putting disinfectant on the open bloody wound and call it a day.
With lots of heavy breathing and blurry vision, Jasper still managed to beat up the group of slave traffickers with ease.
Wanting to blend in more with the people that surrounded her, Jasper also used the money she stole from the slaver's wallets to buy new clothes and shoes as well.
Right now she is sporting a yellow tank top, high waisted shorts that show off her long toned legs, ankle length black boots, and finally a black vest. Not wearing her favorite purple jacket and fedora since those were her most recognizable pieces of clothing when she was being auctioned off, Jasper only stashed them away in a small bag.
As she kept on walking, something welcoming and familar caught her attention. Jasper walked over to a food stand and saw a whole mountain of mouth watering apples. Growing up in an apple orchard for most of her life, and being deprived of edible food for far too long, a nice fresh, juicy apple is all she needed to boost up her spirits.
Handing the old man the rest of her money, he then handed her a big paper bag full of apples. "Thank you, come back again."He said before he went back to work.
After eatting one apple after another, Jasper wasn't even paying attention when she bit into the most disgusting piece of fruit she had ever tasted before in her entire life.
"Pttttt...You dare call yourself an apple."Jasper scoff at the green, swirly piece of fruit, like if it could talk back to her which it obviously can't. Not wanting to see the disgrace of fruit ever again, Jasper then threw it out of her sight.

"Ouch!" Penguin whined as he rubbed the back of his head where he was hit.
"What happened?" Shachi asked with a hint of worry in his voice.
"Some jerk threw this at me." Penguin stated after picking up the bright green fruit with a large bite on its side.
"Wait, isn't that a devil fruit? Shachi pointed out in shock.
"Oh my god it is, but who took a bite out of it, it still looks fresh. We should inform the captain about this." Penguin stated, now becoming curious of the mysterious fruit.
"Inform me what?" A deep familiar voice chimed in the 2 mechanics conversation.
"Oh Captain, you're already here, look what we found." Penguin said while holding up the swirly patterned fruit.

Finally finishing off her large bag of apples, Jasper noticed a piano in the middle of a busy street with no one playing the instrument.
Cracking her knuckles once again, Jasper sat down on the wooden stool and put her hat upside down on the ground so she could collect tips . She then started playing the piano while singing to one of her favorite songs.

When she was done, the people who had surrounded her started clapping as they put money into her hat.
"Do you take any requests?" A man wearing a black and yellow hoodie asks calmly.
"Sure, what do you have in mind?" Jasper responded not even looking up from where she was sitting.
"How about you come with me and join my crew." Law said with a small smirk.
Jasper's face then twisted in disgust when she looked up, only to meet face to face with the Surgeon Of Death.
"Fuck off, pirates ruin my life what makes you think I want to be one." Jasper scoffed with pure venom in her voice.
"I wasn't asking, you're coming with me if you like it or not."Law stated after he picked up Jasper's hat and started examining it.
"Look, you can keep the money I don't care, but please give me my hat back and leave me alone. I already been through enough shit that can last a person a lifetime." Jasper said calmly while reaching for her hat.
He chuckled lowly and stood up, bringing his nodachi back up to his shoulders.
"Jasper-ya, I had already planned from the beginning even before that damn Celestial Dragon won your bidding, that you will be a part of my crew. Now come here nicely like a good little slave or else." Law said smugly while he tossed her hat in the air and caught it casually in his tattoo hand.
Jasper's patient snapped before she tackled the pirate captain, snatched back her fedora then glared down at the dark doctor while subconsciously touching her back.
"I will never go back to that lifestyle ever again, I am no one's property anymore. " Jasper shouted before sprinting away from the scene.
"Damn, she's a lot faster than I gave her credit for." Law cursed in anger before pulling out a transponder snail from his back pocket.
"Penguin, Shachi and Bepo, gather the rest of the crew and come east of the town, I found her." Law order through the snail which made everyone respond with a 'Yes captain.'
5 minutes later, Jasper was now being chased down by men wearing white boiler suits and for a strange reason a fuzzy polar bear as well.
"Leave me alone!" Jasper demanded loudly which made all of the men sigh.
"Sorry, it's nothing personal, we're just following orders, honest. Just come with us so we don't have to hurt you." Penguin said while taking a step closer to her.
"I said leave me alone, I'm not going to become anyone's slave again!" Jasper retorted with gritted teeth.
2 men started running toward her, one man was holding a sword while the other man was only using his bare hands.
Both of them attacked her at the same time. She dodge the sharp piece of metal smoothly, by side stepping the swordsman then kicking the other man wearing a hat that had the word' Penguin' on it into a stone wall.
Bepo jumped and tried to land a roundhouse kick on Jasper's head, only for her to completely counter his attack. Jasper jumped with one leg out then kicked the top of Bepo's head into the ground which made a inprint of the polar bear's face in the process.
Feeling a sharp pain from where she has been shot, Jasper kneels down for a second while coughing up worrying amounts of blood. *Danm that Celestial Dragon and his fancy gun.* Jasper thought to herself in anger.
"Quick, this is our chance." Shachi shouted which made Jasper snap out of her thoughts and pay attention back to the fight. She got back up onto her feet and landed a hard bone breaking kick at Shachi's back which made him go flying like his friend. Jasper's eyes widened in fear and regret when she saw a little kid who looked no older than 8 was about to be hit by the flying man.
In a blink of an eye, Jasper was now where the little kid was standing before embracing him into her chest when Shachi landed on them.
They went through multiple buildings but eventually stopped at some bar, while everyone who was currently drinking just stared in shock at the people who just crashed into the building and was now laying on the floor.
"Ouch, did I go overboard." Jasper muttered to herself while getting up.
"You are so cool and crazy strong." The little boy who was still in her arms said with stars in his eyes.
After she got back up to her feet and dusted the dirt off her clothes, Jasper then took off her hat and bowed to everyone in the bar. "Many apologies for disturbing your meal." She said which made everyone sweat drop.
"There she is!" A man from the Heart Pirates shouted while pointing at Jasper.
"Shit!" Jasper cursed under her breath in annoyance.
"Get her." Shachi mutters in pain while his face is still on the floor.
"Here, buy yourself a soda can." Jasper said after handing the little boy a 100 beri coin while patting his head gently.
Noticing a blue spear was forming in Law's hand, Jasper kicked open the bar's door and made another mad dash for it.
While Jasper was running, she noticed an enormous man had both of his arms and legs spread out in order to block her way. "Got you now." Jean Bart stated.
Jasper smirked evilly, seeing an opening in between Jean Bart's legs so she put one foot out and slid under the gigantic man.
"She didn't…." Penguin said out loud in shock but mostly in pity.
"Poor guy, no man should feel that type of pain in the family jewels." Shachi commented while shaking his head.
Jean Bart was now on the ground, clenching where Jasper had kicked him only a few seconds ago while swearing loudly that would probably make a sailor blush.
"Sorry boys, it's nothing personal but I don't want to become a stupid pirate." Jasper declared mockingly while sticking her tongue at the group of pirates.
"I see…" One pirate muttered while fixing his hat.
"James, Robert, now!" Shachi shouted then 2 men came out of nowhere and managed to catch Jasper off guard which gave them the opportunity to restrain both of her leg's with a thick heavy chain.
Seeing she hadn't fallen down yet, Penguin then pulled out a long skinny tube out of his boiler suit's pocket and shot out a tranquilizing dart toward the standing woman.
"No!" Jasper yelled after she put both of her arms in a 'X' shape to shield her face only to realize nothing ever came into contact with her skin. The dart that Penguin shot at her only passed through her body like if she wasn't flesh and bones and more like-.
"She's a-?…"
"Devil fruit user." Law finishes the rest of Bepo's statement.
"Jasper, were you the one who took a bite out of this?" Law asked after he pulled out the half eaten devil fruit out of his pocket.
"Yeah, that thing is a disgrace to all apples. What kind of fruit is that, it's nothing I've ever seen in the South Blue before." Jasper spat out while glaring at the piece of fruit.
"A Devil Fruit and you had just consumed the Leaf Leaf fruit, a Logia type." Law stated which made his crew gasp loudly.
*Crap, she just had to eat the strongest Devil Fruit type there is, what were the chances.* James , one of the Heart Pirates thought to himself while shaking slightly in fear.
"I don't care if I ate the Devil's shit, I am not becoming some low life pirate. Once I get back to the South Blue, I will have a fresh start and open up a little apple orchard and live the rest of my life in peace. IN PEACE!" Jasper retorted before she accidentally turned her legs into leaves.
"Ahhh, I can't feel my legs! I can't feel my legs! What have you done to me!" Jasper screamed in pure terror when she saw her own legs across from where she was laying.
"Nothing, Logia users can transform their body into a natural element." Law stated as he tried to hold back a chuckle at the distraught girl.
"Liar! I know you have weird ass powers too. Now change me back!" Jasper shouted then multiple small thin leaves shot out of her hand which almost cut Law's head off if he didn't duck in time.
All of the Heart Pirates shuddered when one of Jasper's leaves had completely cut a stone bench clean in half.
Feeling a wave of dizziness, Jasper clenches her head in pain before throwing up a mixer of blood and vomit. Law, being the great doctor he is, noticed just how flush Jasper's cheeks were and could also see blood bleeding through her yellow tank top. Law was very impressed, for a person in such a weak state, Jasper did put up a good fight with him and his crew as well.
"Stop resisting, you're just going to injure yourself even more. As your doctor and captain I order you to come with me, you most likely have an infection from where the bullet had hit you." Law stated while holding out his hand for her's.
Jasper only slapped Law's tattoo hand away before glaring at him coldly. "Go away!"
Leaves then started swarming the group of pirates like little flies, which gave Jasper the perfect chance to reattach her legs back and escape as well.
"Damn it...Room!" Law callfort his devil fruit abilities again which only made Jasper ran faster from his blue spear.
When Jasper saw the big blue ocean at the end of a cliff, she ran even faster before jumping and diving head first into the water, not knowing the cons of being a Devil fruit user.
Jasper tried to swin only to realize she couldn't, no matter how much she tried and thrash her arms and legs, she just kept on sinking like an anchor. Jasper's vision turned completely dark as she could no longer hold her breath anymore and started consuming sea water . *Is this really it, this is really how I am going to die. Man, what a lame death. Well, if I died then at least I wil see you again, ain't that right Helen.* Jasper thought to herself before she let the darkness completely consume her.

"Captain, I found her but she isn't breathing." Bepo said while carrying the unconscious girl in his arms.
After Bepo laid Jasper flat onto her back, Law then put both of his hands onto her chest and started performing the first stage of CPR.
After 30 seconds went by and nothing happened, Law then performed the second stage of CPR which was putting a tight seal onto her lips and breathing air into it.
Another 30 seconds went by and Jasper didn't even make a peak, so as a last resort Law then uses his devil fruit as a defibrillator. Sparks then emitted from Law's hands as he kept on pressing his hands onto her chest in order to restart her heart again.
"Just one more." Law muttered to himself before he checked her pulse again.
"She's alive, not in good condition but still alive." Law announced which made everyone let out the breath they were holding in during the whole ordeal.
Law then carefully picked her up, bridal style and headed back to his submarine.
Law raises an eyebrow in confushion when he notices 2 of his head mechanics were going the opposite direction from where the submarine was currently docked.
"And where are the two of you going?" Law asked calmly while tapping his foot.
"Well uh, just going to buy a welcome gift for our new crewmate." Penguin answered while scratching the back of his head.
"Let me guess, new clothes. Perverts." James said which made both Penguin and Shachi blush slightly.
"No, she mentioned she wanted to open up an apple orchard when she gets back home." Penguin started.
"So we thought it would be a good way to earn her trust by buying her a mini apple tree, along with a gardening kit as well to make her feel welcome. And judging by her accent and attitude, she had most likely had grown up in the countryside, so it will be even harder for her to adjust since the submarine does have more advanced technology than most ships. Does anyone else want to pitch in?" Shachi asked and some crewmates did pitch in, even Jean Bart which surprised everyone since she did kick him right in the family jewels .
