CHAPTER 2 - Aftermath
Just a couple of hours had passed since the Yondaime and his wife had sacrificed their lives to defeat the Kyubi, as of right now the shinobis that aren't injured are currently busy running damage control over the village, searching for possible survivors, assess the damage to the defensive wall, retrieve any injured or dead shinobi that remained after the attack.
The morale around the village was at a new low, many lost family members during the attack either killed by the Kyubi itself or died due to collateral damage of flying debris during the evacuation efforts, the Konoha hospital was right now packed full, so much that the staff of the hospital decided to set tents outside to start to sort out critical patients from those who could wait.
Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Sandaime Hokage, had just arrived to the Hokage tower and entered the Hokage's office with two bundles in his arms, he had decided to unofficially retake the Hokage position until a suitable candidate arises, he sighed heavily at the thought of having to manage the village yet again when he was starting to enjoy his partial retirement with him only working as academy headmaster and part-time advisor to Minato, '...but a shinobi is who endures...' was the his only thought before he set the now orphaned and sleeping twins on a nearby sofa, he then made his way towards the desk and sit down on the chair already feeling a crushing weight on his shoulders that came with the position he had to retake, he flared his chakra slightly to summon one of his ANBU guards, he didn't have to wait to much before an ANBU with a mask that depicted a bird appeared kneeling before Hiruzen, "Tori, I need you to summon the council for an emergency meeting to assess the damage to the village, the meeting shall be in half an hour from now, dismissed", the ANBU only bowed his head and replied with a "hai" before vanishing in a quick 'shunsin' , Hiruzen then summoned his other guard with a bear mask who was already in position awaiting orders, "Kuma, i want you to bring my wife here as fast as you can" his bodyguard did the same as his partner and disappeared in another 'shunsin', after this he started to work once again in the thing he hated the most before he retired - paperwork- he only had to work for a couple of minutes before there was a knock in the door, already guessing who it was he just said "enter" and Biwako entered the office looking at a already tired Hiruzen and she couldn't do anything but to frown in concern, she then looked toward the sleeping twins in the sofa, she went straight to them and sat next to them, her eyes soften when inspecting the twins, while still looking towards the twins, she finally broke the silence, " how are you Hiruzen?" she asked in soft voice and then she finally lifted her gaze towards her husband with a sad look, Hiruzen only sighed slumping slightly his shoulders " not good Biwako but i have to endure it, there isn't anyone capable to take the Hokage mantle" Biwako only sighed knowing this to be true," so what are you going to do now?" she asked.
"Well I just summoned an emergency council meeting and should be starting in around 20 more minutes or so, we are going to do damage control and start a plan of action from there… and I think I am also going to reveal the twins status as Jinchuriki's" Hiruzen replied after a moment of silence, Biwako shot upwards when she heard that, " are you sure it's the right idea to reveal their status to the council? Especially the civilians?" she asked with doubt in her voice.
"To be honest, no I don't think so, but I don't have a choice right now, they will want answers regarding the fate of the Kyubi, although the elders and the shinobi side of the council already knew of Kushina's status, the civilians never knew, but if I tried to hide their status right now, I could end up backfiring, it could end up with them taking the issue to the Fire Daimyo and stripping me of the Hokage title, and in the worst-case scenario, it could end up with Danzo taking the mantle and you know I can't let that happen"
Biwako frowned at the mention of Danzo, he never liked that war-hawk, and he would definitely use any chance he could get to discredit Hiruzen so he can be the Hokage, "Are you going to reveal their heritage as well" Biwako asked and Hiruzen shook his head " That must remain secret as to protect the twins, they may gain a target on their heads just by revealing their Jinchuriki status and I will not make that target even bigger by revealing that they are the legacy of two of Konoha's most deathly shinobi in recent times, they can learn of their heritage when i deem them mature enough possibly either when they become Genin or ascend to Chunnin, i pla on putting them in the Konoha's Orphanaje as to have a somewhat normal life, since because of Konoha's law, no clan can adopt Jinchuriki, they can only live by designated guardians or blood relatives" Hiruzen explained to his wife and both of them gained frown on their faces "so that would mean that since we are not immediate family or blood relative we can't adopt them to protect them from ostracizing they could receive from the village or, Kami forbids it, Danzo and ROOT, the only one who could take them would be Jiraiya-Kun but he is not here right now" Biwako replied worried for the safety of the twins, she is starting to grow attached to them.
"I have already sent a message to Jiraiya for him to come back to the village, he must be somewhere in the outskirts of Hi no Kuni (Land of Fire) by now, I estimate he will arrive to the village in a few hours and when he arrives we can discuss the fate of the twins more thoroughly" Hiruzen answered trying to quell the growing worry of his wife.
Should we also call Kakashi for this?, he was Minato's last student and you know how close they were, I think he deserves to know the fate of his father and mother figure and also their legacy" she said while taking a glance at the twins.
"I don't know about that, Kakashi was already a bit unstable emotionally because of the death of his teammates, this could break him beyond repair, or strengthen his will by now focusing on the surviving legacy of his sensei, but I guess it's a chance we are going to have to take," Hiruzen said with a weary sigh.
"What are you going to say about the masked man the attacked us" Biwako stated the other elephant in the room, Hiruzen sighed for the umpteenth time that single night, that was seriously troublesome (at the thought of this word several Nara's sneezed throughout the village) subject to address, Biwako had informed Hiruzen about the masked man that irrupted into the safe house and was the cause of this whole mess in the first place, Hiruzen concluded that this masked man had to be an Uchiha if anyone else tried to take control of the Kyubi with an implanted Sharingan like Kakashi for example, that person would have died due to the strain the eye cause to any non-Uchiha, Kakashi can only last a couple of hours with his Sharingan exposed before he's out due to Chakra exhaustion, and not even a Uchiha wouldn't be able to have done everything this masked man did, not even the current clan head and Military police chief Uchiha Fugaku has that level of skill, it would take someone of the caliber of Uchiha Madara to have done this, but that would propetous because Uchiha Madara has been dead for a long time since his fight at the Valley of the End against his rival, the Shodai Hokage Senju Hashirama. (if only you knew Hiruzen).
No, I think I shall only reveal this secret to the elders if I were to reveal that the person behind the attack was an Uchiha, the village will turn against them and it could lead to a civil war, we are starting to have disagreements between us and the Uchiha elders, this could only lead to disaster, I will also inform Jiraiya of this masked man, to see if he can track him down, I don't believe this Uchiha is part of the clan here, it's very possible he was born outside of the clan although I don't know his motivation for him to commit such act still I think I will assign an ANBU squad to keep an eye close to the Uchiha, I will have to discuss this with the elders.
Biwako could only sigh at the reply of his husband, dark times were coming for Konoha," very well I shall come with you to the meeting with the twins and after the meeting, I am taking them to the hospital, I never had the chance to give them a full check-up, we could reunite with Jiraiya and Kakashi there."
Hiruzen only nodded before Tori entered the office with a 'shunshin' already kneeling and his head down, " Sandaime-sama, the council is assembled, they are now waiting for you to arrive"
Tori informed his leader. Hiruzen only nodded once more before making a gesture to dismiss him.
Hiruzen stood up, sighed yet once more, and face her wife while putting the Hokage hat on his head, " let's get this over with shall we, maybe after everything is over I could sleep at least for a couple of hours" he said while making his way towards the door, Biwako nodded and picked the twins who started to stir but Biwako managed to rock them back to sleep and walked behind his husband towards the Council chambers.
Council Chambers
In this room is where the Council of Konoha make their reunions, the council was the creation of the Nidaime Hokage, Senju Tobirama so that they could advise the Hokage in matters related to the village and also reduce the work of the Hokage should the need ever arise, although the Hokage had the final word on any matters, the council could overthrow the decision of the Hokage if it somehow said decision caused more harm than benefit and they do this through voting.
Currently the Council it's conformed by three parts, The Elders, being Mitokado Homura, Utatane Koharu, and Shimura Danzo, these three were former teammates of Hiruzen in their younger days under the leadership of Senju Tobirama during the First Shinobi World War.
The Shinobi side, consisting of Nara Shikaku - head of the Nara Clan and also Jounin Commander, Akimichi Chouza- head of the Akimichi Clan, Yamanaka Inoichi- head of the Yamanaka Clan and also the head of the I&T division, Inuzuka Tsume - head of Inuzuka Clan, Hyuga Hiashi - head of Hyuga clan, Aburame Shibi - head of the Aburame clan and finally Uchiha Fugaku - head of the Uchiha clan and also Chief of the Military police of Konoha.
And finally, the Civilian Side, made up of the richest merchants from Konoha from different industries, like food, clothing, metalworks, etc.
Right now all of them were discussing the damage done to Konoha and similar matters, that was until the double doors of the chambers were opened revealing the Sandaime Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen and behind him was his wife Biwako carrying two bundles, some of them were curious about it but didn't question it, they were waiting for Hiruzen to speak, there were people here that were about to question Hiruzen as to why he had summoned the council and not Minato but they were starting to dread the answer.
As soon as Hiruzen entered the room, it turned quiet and everyone sat in their respective place, after everyone was seated Hiruzen cleared his throat and started speaking " thank you, everyone, for coming on such short notice, I am going to answer the unasked question most of you must have asked themselves" he took a pause and let a sigh out slightly tilting down his head, the Hokage hat covering his eyes from everyone in the room, " it is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that the Yondaime Hokage, Namikaze Minato, has fallen in battle against the Kyubi.
Some members let out a gasp, while others tilted their heads down in respect for the now fallen Hokage, they stayed like this for a minute to pay respects, after this Hiruzen continued, " so I have decided to take the mantle once again until another candidate is chosen, does anybody has any objections" nobody answered, not even Danzo and Hiruzen let out a mental sigh of relief because of that.
But that relief was short-lived thanks to a question who came from none other than… you guessed it, Danzo, "what became of the Kyubi then?" Danzo asked in his usual monotone voice while discreetly eyeing the bundles on Biwako's arms, already having a suspicion but he wanted confirmation from Hiruzen.
Hiruzen caught up to the line of thinking of old teammate and blew a sigh now that all the attention was focused on him, Hiruzen glanced towards his wife who looked at him with resigned eyes, then Hiruzen returned his attention toward the council to make his statement.
"Although Minato defeated the Kyubi at the cost of his life, no one can fully kill a Bijuu, even if someone managed to kill one, the Bijuu will reform itself many years down the road only to go back to square one, the most effective way to stop a Bijuu is to seal it away…" he took a pause a then carried on "Minato used a Kinjutsu (Forbidden Jutsu) called 'Shiki Fujin' in where he summoned the Shinigami itself and asked for its assistance to divide the Kyubi into two halves and sealed them into this newborn twins," he said while gesturing Biwako behind her with the bundles in her arms.
There was a moment of tense silence in the room, but Hiruzen already predicted the reactions of the entire council, the shinobi side was indeed surprised but they remained silent, except for the widening of their eyes and a few gasps from some of the members, the elders had very similar reactions, well at least Homura and Koharu, Danzo remained impassive but Hiruzen was not surprised, Danzo was someone who often said that shinobi shouldn't be burdened by emotion so he is someone who can suppress his emotions expertly, it was only the time he spent with Danzo as teammates that gave him experience in reading his 'old friend, Hiruzen could already see the cogs on Danzo's mind turning to formulate a scheme to possibly having the twin for himself so he can turn them into his war dogs all with the excuse of the benefit of the village, 'not under my watch', Hiruzen especially wasn't at all surprised when the civilian side all but exploded in disbelief, horror, fear, and rage.
"Why are they still alive, Hokage-sama", "we should kill them while the Kyubi is still trapped in there", " we should finish what Yondaime-sama", " Kill them before the Kyubi takes over their minds" were the shouts that Hiruzen could hear coming from the civilians and it is as he feared.
The civilians were finally silenced when the room was hit by the combined KI (Killing intent) from both Biwako and Hiruzen, everyone immediately tensed, the shinobis were sweating and the civilians were just a moment away from shitting their pants, they finally stopped projecting their KI when they noticed they were disturbing the babies, Biwako started to rock them and cooing them so they can remain asleep, Hiruzen only cleared his throat before continuing, "I thought I made myself clear when I explained what happened after 'killing' a Bijuu, killing these children will make matters worse, what would happen if the Kyubi reformed and decided to finish what it started here? We wouldn't have another shinobi of the caliber of Minato to help us to fight it off another time, Minato gave his life to seal the Kyubi into these children with a purpose, so they could become heroes of this village, and to be honest, they already are by just being the jailers holding the Kyubi, preventing its freedom, so it can't hurt anybody else as long as they live" Hiruzen finished his speech with a stern look
After a moment of silence, Shikaku raised his hand seeking permission to speak, which Hiruzen granted with a nod of his head, " go ahead Shikaku", Shikaki only cleared his throat before speaking," Excuse me Sandaime-sama, I was just curious about who these children are?" after this Hiruzen closed his eyes in contemplation before finally opening them and answered, "their names are Naruto and Nori Uzumaki or that was the name that the Yondaime chose for them before he died, he told me that he used two orphans twins who were born today but their parents died during the attack". He came up with a half-lie, while Biwako unraveled the bundles so everyone could gaze at them, while he knew that he couldn't fool the elders as they knew Kushina's situation, while the clan heads will doubt that statement as he can feel the looks of suspicion on him especially from Shikaku but he hopes that the clan heads won't voice their doubts and guess the reason as to why he decided to lie about the twin's heritage.
But he blew a mental sigh of relief when no one spoke against his statement and even better, it looks that the civilians actually bought it, ' I guess their fear and hatred has clouded their minds from what's in front of them' Hiruzen thought sadly before signaling Biwako so she could take the twins to the hospital, she only nodded before making her way towards the exit, " now, how about we discuss the more pressing matters" Hiruzen said in hopes of finally changing the topic, everyone nodded but the civilians only did it reluctantly clearly not satisfied with how the topic of the twins ended. And like that, they moved to more complicated matters like casualties, reconstruction, and the state of the shinobi roster.
An hour has passed and the meeting just ended, now Hiruzen was making his way towards the hospital, he could see all the tents on the outside of the hospital where some of the injured resided. After he made his way inside, he was pointed towards her wife was with the twins, he arrived at the assigned room, he saw Biwako feeding the twins with warm baby milk formula, when Biwako turned her head to see who it was there was a small smile tugging on her lips and then returned her attention to the twins once again, " so who was the meeting" she asked while she continued to feed the twins, they were really hungry, " it went as well as it could considering the current situation" Hiruzen replied tiredly, " that bad?" she asked with a worried frown on her face.
"Yes, the civilian casualties were estimated to be around the 5% of the entire population, it could have been worse if we hadn't received your warning beforehand, but we still lost almost 30% of the entire shinobi force in the attack and an estimated 20% of damage to the village itself including the section of the wall the Kyubi destroyed to gain access inside the village, it will take a lot of time to rebuild our strength, we have already deployed shinobi to strengthen our borders and make sure nobody tries anything, it won't take to much time before other villages like Iwagakure or Kumogakure receive news of what has happened here, I just hope that when they hear it they won't try anything bold," he said while rubbing his temples.
"So… how are they?" Hiruzen asked while watching his wife helping the twins to burp after they were done with their meals and then she put them back in their crib so they can continue with their nap. She faced Hiruzen and replied, " They are fine and healthy, perhaps too healthy but I guess that is Jinchuriki is for you I guess" Biwako tried to lighten to mood, she succeeded but only slightly, "although their chakra network isn't even fully developed, I can tell right now that their chakra levels and density will be something out this world" she continued, Hiruzen arched an eyebrow that meant to further explain something she did.
What I mean is that even though they are barely a day old, they have the chakra capacity of a 3 or 4-year-old child, by the time they are six they should have around low to mid Chunnin level, but this density of chakra, any jutsu they try will be twice or even thrice more effective with the same chakra cost, I would guess that this is the result of their Uzumaki blood and being the container of the fox, although I found something strange…" Biwako informed Hiruzen.
" what is it?" he replied hoping they weren't anything wrong with the children of Minato and Kushina, he promised Kushina that they shall be safe, and didn't plan on breaking that promise, Kushina would probably haunt him until the end of his days and even after he dies and goes to the pure world, she would be waiting for him to turn his afterlife into absolute hell, he mentally shivered at that.
" well, it's their chakra alignment," she said not aware of the mental distress of his husband, " we know that the Uzumaki's chakra normally gravitated toward the yang side and that isn't the case for Naruto, his Yin chakra is slowly but steadily growing, in a few years it will surpass his normally large Yang side, while Nori's Yang chakra is growing even further than what it is supposed to, her Yang side will bigger even by Uzumaki standards."
Hiruzen seemed in deep thought, and then he provided his opinion on the matter, " well I can have something to do with the way the Kyubi was sealed into them before she died, Kushina said that Minato sealed the Yin half of the Kyubi into Naruto while the Yang side into Nori, but I can not be completely sure, I may be competent enough in Fuinjutsu but I never reached the level of Jiraiya much less of both Minato and Kushina" he said before turning his head towards the window of the room and said, "I would need your help to further inspect the seals, Jiraiya"
Biwako turned her head and there he was, stepping through the open window and then closing it again after he was inside the room, the loud clanking of his wooden sandals almost woke the babies up but they went back to sleep moments after, Jiraiya the Toad Sage, last loyal member of the Sannin of Konoha, had finally arrived, He has waist-length, spiky white hair that he usually ties back into a ponytail, with two shoulder-length bangs framing his face. There are red lines under his eyes which extended further down his face His attire consisted of a green short shirt kimono and matching pants, under which he wears mesh armor that is visible at his wrists and ankles. He also wears handguards, a black belt, traditional Japanese wooden sandals, and a red haori with two yellow circles on each side. He often carried a large scroll on his back and had a tattoo on his left palm, and he wore a horned forehead protector with the kanji for "oil" (油, abura), which denoted his affiliation with Mount Myōboku. His usual jovial smile was replaced with a solemn look on his face as he looked towards the crib where the twins were sleeping in.
Biwako had sad look on his face, she knew how important were both Minato and Kushina to him, they were the closest thing he had to a son and a daughter, especially Minato, his prized pupil, so Biwako walked towards him and enveloped him in a motherly hug, one that Jiraiya returned a let a few tears free, during the Sannin's time as genin under the leadership of Hiruzen, they became something akin to a pseudo-family, Hiruzen was more than a teacher to them, he was a father figure but by that time he had recently married Biwako and after sometime later she also became a somewhat of a mother figure towards the Sannin.
After calming down, he detached himself from Biwako's embrace, he walked near to the cribs, when he finally saw the twins, he had to avert his gaze, a hurt expression on his face, " they look so much like them" he said barely above a whisper but everyone in the room heard it, both elders softened their looks, "Jiraiya, I know this can be painful for you but I need you to check the seals, I do trust Minato's abilities in fuinjustsu but better be safe than sorry" Hiruzen said softly, he knew how difficult must be for Jiraiya but he needed this done, he wanted to make sure the seal is strong and to make sure the Kyubi doesn't break out.
Jiraiya only took a deep breath, calming his emotions, he only nodded before walking closer to crib, he began to check the seal, had he not been in the mood he currently is, he would have whistled out un astonishment, " Minato's mastery in seals certainly holds here, this is nothing more a masterpiece, the way the seals work is that slowly over time it filters small quantities of the Kyubis chakra into the twins, mixing with their own natural reserves, with that it proves your theory right Sensei, the Kyubi's yang chakra is slowly mixing with Nori's, the same is happening with the yin side mixing with … Naruto's,",he took a breath before continuing "although this would mean that by the time they become 12 or 13 years old they could have the same if not have surpassed your chakra reserves Sensei, but that comes with the down side that chakra control exercises will become a must, they may never be able to even form a common Bunshin (clone), and well the chakra alignment doesn't neceseraly means a bad thing, Nori already has high yang alignment so she should be fine, and… Naruto's yin alignment is odd, but it shouldn't do any harm to him, it might cause him to develop a different personality than the one could have developed if the Kyubi's yin chakra wasn't inside him, I'm not saying that the Kyubi would be influencing him because right now it's impossible with how tight the seal is, but doesn't hurt keep an eye on them" Biwako and Hiruzen noticed how Jiraiya hesitated on saying Naruto's name but they couldn't fault him, they both knew Minato's reason to name the boy Naruto.
Hiruzen blew a sigh of relief a the statement of Jiraiya, finally some good news in this night, "well, that's good, we will keep them here in the maternity ward for a couple of days possible for a week before we put them on Konoha's orphanage" Hiruzen said standing up, but as soon as he said those words Jiraiya turned his head towards his sensei so fast that you could almost hear his neck cracking and almost whipped Biwako in the face with his long ponytail, " what do you mean orphanage sensei?!" he whispered almost hysterically, " yes, Jiraiya, I'm putting them in the orphanage, if you were planning on raising them yourself then I'm sorry to say that would not possible" Hiruzen said apologetically but left no room for discussion.
"But why not, Minato name me their Godfather, it's the least I can do for them, … I… I can't fail them, please sensei, don't make me fail them" Jiraiya was now begging, at the sight of this Hiruzen's heart clenched, he really wanted to grant Jiraiya his wish of taking the twins, but in doing he might risk the twins' safety, plus he had an important mission for him already.
"I really want to give them to you Jiraiya, you're after the only family they have, but I can't afford on you being seen with them, people will make the connections and discover their heritage, what do you think will happen if Iwa or Kumo discovers the truth? they will be hunted and not even you can fight off two countries and protect them at the same time, besides, I already have a more important assignment for you"
"And what is more important than the legacy of my student?" Jiraiya asked with a irritated tone and with a touch of defiance, Hiruzen only sighed, it was becoming a habit a this point besides smoking but he didn't have his pipe at the moment, " I need you to use your spy network to delay as much a you can any leaks of the attack, buy us time to reorganize our force, … and I want you to start looking for whoever caused this mess in the first place"
Jiraiya was caught off guard by the last part, " wh… what do you mean?", Hizuren only rubbed the bridge of his nose before Biwako took over for him, "Hiruzen told all the details in his message, he thought it would be best to explain all the details here without fearing any kind of leak, you might have thought that the Kyubi broke through Kushina's seal on its own but that not the truth is that we were attacked shortly after Kushina delivered the twins, he managed to separate Minato a Kushina using the twins as hostages and broke Kushina's seal, freeing the Kyubi and managed to take control of it, he then summoned here to the village and rest is as you already know"
Jiraiya was shaking with barely contained fury, he was releasing massives amount of KI, Biwako had to tell him to calm down or he would scare the twins, after taking a couple of breaths, he finally said, " who was the bastard responsible?" he said in a low voice that still contained fury.
"I don't know, he was wearing a black cloak that covered his whole body, the only distinctive feature was that he was wearing a yellow mask with some black flame designs and only had one eye hole in the right side of his face, but the most worrying part was that in the eye he had the Sharingan, he must have used to take control of the Kyubi after freeing him" Biwako explained what happened on the safe house in full detail, well whatever she remembers and what Minato told her.
" I see, I guess I see your point sensei, I don't like it but I will do it," Jiraiya said with a sigh before suddenly remembering something, " And what of Kakashi?, surely he could take the twins right? I mean he was Minato's student," he asked slightly hopeful, only to have it crushed when Hiruzen shook his head slowly.
"I did consider Kakashi, but right now he is one of the shinobi I deployed to reinforce the border, besides he is still too young to take them and even more emotionally unstable, he was barely recovering from the death of his teammates' thanks to the efforts of Minato and Kushina but I fear that with their deaths, I could fully break him, I fear that with the news of the death of his sensei he might throw himself totally into his ANBU duties, I will offer him the chance to take them in hopes that the twins help him heal but I can already predict he will refuse the opportunity" Hiruzen explained to Jiraiya and he understood.
" I understand Sarutobi-sensei" he sighed and then said, "I guess I'll go rest for a day before I set out once again" he started to walk toward the window but stopped " please promise me they will be safe" Hiruzen nodded and the said, "I promise they shall be safe Jiraiya" Jiraiya nodded then he disappeared through the window.
Biwako looked at his husband and said " come on Hiruzen you too need to rest" she said not leaving room for discussion, not that Hiruzen was going to protest anyway.
This was the longest night in Hiruzen's night and for some reason, he felt it was not going to be last.
In an underground facility under Konoha, sitting behind a desk was Danzo Shimura, the ruthless commander of the ANBU division designated ROOT, Danzō appears as a frail, old man, who would normally walk with a cane. He has black, shaggy hair, and his right eye was bandaged — concealing a Sharingan underneath. Danzō has had an x-shaped scar on his chin ever since his youth. He wore a white shirt, with a black or dark grey robe over the top of it covering from his feet, to just over his right shoulder. The robe conceals his right arm which was bandaged.
In front of him were his most prominent subordinates, Fu Yamanaka and Torune Aburame,
Torune is a fairly tall and lean-built man. He has fair skin and short spike dull black hair. Torune's appearance was that of a regular Konoha Anbu, complete with a white cloak and monkey mask. After removing the mask, it is noted that except for a small area around his nose and mouth, his features were covered by a mask. His glasses were built into the mask, obscuring his eyes as is customary for members of the Aburame clan. He was also heavily clothed — seemingly another trait of the Aburame. He wore a short black jacket with red straps over the shoulders, as customary of all Root members. This most likely showed their allegiance to the organization. He also wore a high collared, all-black outfit with a red sash around his waist and what appeared to be an apron over his pants and carried several pouches with him, and wore a pair of black gloves.
Fu is a young man with auburn-colored hair and amber eyes. He wore a short, black jacket with red straps on the shoulders like all members of Root. He also wore a red short kimono under the jacket with a black sash, a pair of black gloves, dark-colored pants, and regular shinobi sandals.
Currently, they were kneeling in front of their master awaiting orders, something they didn't have to wait to receive. "Fu, Torune, this would be the perfect opportunity for new recruits to 'join' the Foundation, spread the order to look for promising young candidates, but don't touch the Uzumaki twins".
"Danzo-sama, may I ask as to why we are not supposed to touch the twins, with them being Jinchuriki's they could prove valuable for your organization," Fu asked his master still with his head lowered and kneeling.
"Because I know that old monkey wouldn't let me have them, he will want them under his watch and I can't risk being on his sights, I will have to bide my time and wait for the right time if I plan everything correctly, they might even come to me" Danzo explained to his young tool.
Fu and Torune only nodded in understanding, bowed, and then left the room to carry out the orders of their master.

AN: well here it's chapter 2, I actually expected to take more time writing this chapter but I guess I was inspired or something.
next chapter there will be a timeskip probably 5 or 6 years so you can start expecting to finally get to meet Naruto and Nori
well I already said the same in the previous 'AN' but if you find any kind of grammatical errors or the writing style is worthy of cringe, I apologize, I have never written anything like this in my life if you have any suggestions about the story then feel free to write your reviews or PM.
