Chapter 2-

Amanda looked at Olivia who was staring back at her. "Your, my mother." Amanda breathed out, "My mom said that my birth mother was a teenager. How… how old were you when you had me?"

Olivia didn't respond and that worried both Melinda and Amanda. Melinda set a gentle hand on Olivia's arm, "Liv," Melinda said stepping closer to Olivia. "Are you ok?"

Olivia blinked a couple of times as more tears slipped down her cheeks. "Yeah, sorry, what did you say?"

"How old were you when you had me?" Amanda repeated confused, "I don't understand… why did you give me up for adoption?" Amanda added as her own tears started to fall. The one thing Amanda has learned over the years about Olivia is how badly she has wanted children. So Amanda could not wrap her mind around the fact that Olivia gave her up, gave up on an opportunity to be a mother. "What was wrong with me that you gave me up? Did you not love me enough to keep me?" Amanda was trying her best not to breakdown, she wanted answers to so many questions.

Olivia moved towards Amanda until she was standing directly in front of her, "No, Manda I was fourteen when I had you, I loved you so much, you were a perfect little bundle of joy." Olivia was trying to regain control of her emotions but unfortunately it was a losing battle as more tears escaped and slipped down her cheeks. "But I didn't have a choice, I had to give you up." Olivia explained to Amanda.

"No," Amanda said shaking her head, "Everyone has a choice, and you chose to give me up."

"Manda, I didn't have a choice. My mom wanted me to have an abortion, but I couldn't go through with it, so I convinced her to let me give you up for adoption. If I had kept you, I would've been homeless. Being a fourteen-year-old mother and at that homeless, that's not what I wanted for you, so I thought the only option was to give you up, to give you a better life."

"And what about my father, did he not want me either?" Amanda asked but regretted when she saw Olivia's face fall and the pain that appeared in her eyes. Amanda's mind started to wonder, what did her father do to cause Olivia so much pain.

"Manda," Olivia spoke gaining Amanda's attention. "I'll tell you everything if you're sure you are ready to know. I'm going to be honest, it's not um… a pleasant story." Olivia said making sure Amanda understood and that she was absolutely, positive that she wanted the whole truth.

Amanda took a deep breath before letting it out slowly, "I want to know everything." Amanda said firmly.

Olivia nodded, "Ok, you should sit." Olivia started as she focused on Melinda, "You should hear this too, Melinda."

"Are you sure?" Melinda asked not wanting to intrude any further. Honestly, she wanted to hear the story too. She has known Olivia for over twenty years and considered them close friends, yet she never knew that Olivia had a child at fourteen. As much as she wanted to be hurt and angry with her dear friend about not revealing this piece of information to her, she also understood that her friend has always been a very private person.

Olivia nodded, "I bet there was a second hit on Amanda's DNA sample." Olivia stated receiving another nod from Melinda. "Take a seat," Olivia said as she moved to sit on the couch tucking a leg underneath herself as she prepared herself for what she about to say.

Amanda watched Olivia for a second, "Why would there be another hit from my DNA sample?" Amanda asked curious, "Wait, is he a cop too?" Amanda dreaded the other option as to why her father's DNA was in the system, especially after seeing the pain in Olivia's eyes when she mentioned her father.

Olivia shook her head; she knew what she was about to say was going to really affect Amanda and turn her world upside down. "No, your father is in the system because…he raped me when I was fourteen years old. I was a freshman in high school, and he was the guidance counselor." Olivia revealed.

~Flashback Winter of 1984~

Fourteen-year-old Olivia Benson grabbed the necessary textbooks from her locker that she needed to take home for the weekend to do her homework. Olivia turned around when she heard someone calling her name. It was Ms. Martin her Algebra teacher. "Yes, Ms. Martin." Olivia said as she closed her locker and picked up her backpack.

Ms. Martin smiled at her star student. "I wanted to let you know that I have recommended you for honor classes Olivia. You're a bright student and I think you'll thrive in honor classes, especially my honors Algebra class."

Olivia returned her teachers smile, "Thank you Ms. Martin, I appreciate it very much." Math was one of Olivia's favorite classes, especially Ms. Martin Algebra class.

"You're welcome, Mr. Kissel will need to see you in his office before you leave today. He just wants to make sure you're ok with taking honor classes and your mother will have to sign a consent form to let you take them." Ms. Martin explained.

"Ok, I'll head over there now and I'm sure my mother won't mind. She's a college professor so this would actually thrill her." Olivia was excited to tell her mother about this. Her mother seems to only show how proud she was of her daughter when she excelled in school.

Ms. Martin beamed at Olivia, "Excellent, I'll see you Monday morning then. Enjoy your weekend." Ms. Martin said before walking away.

Olivia quickly made her way to Mr. Kissel's office and knocked on the door and waited to be invited in. When she heard him say come in she opened the door and stepped into the office. "Hi, Mr. Kissel, Ms. Martin said I needed to see you regarding taking Honor classes." Olivia said.

"Ah, yes, come, have a seat." Mr. Kissel said pointing to the chair in front of his desk. "Olivia Benson, correct?" Mr. Kissel asked as he shuffled through some papers on his desk.

"Yes," Olivia replied as she glanced down at her watch, checking the time.

"Here we go," Mr. Kissel said as he found the papers he needed. He stood up and walked around his desk to stand next to Olivia, "Here are the papers your mother and you will need to sign and your new class schedule that will start next week on Monday, so please make sure you get the papers signed and return them Monday morning." While Olivia was scanning over the papers he gave her, he made his way over to his office door closing and locking it. Mr. Kissel watched Olivia for a second before making his way back over to her, setting his hands on her shoulders before gently massaging them.

Olivia jumped out of the chair turning to face Mr. Kissel, "What are you doing?" Olivia said questioningly.

Mr. Kissel stepped closer to Olivia, backing her into the desk. "Olivia, just relax, I promise I'll be gentle." Mr. Kissel said as his blue eyes darken two shades darker.

"Um…I think I should leave." Olivia said trying not to panic, but before she knew what was happening Mr. Kissel had grabbed her and pushed her up against the wall of his office. She tried to fight him off, but he was much stronger than her. The next thing she realize was her pants and panties were yanked down to her ankles and then the worst pain she felt when he rammed into her. She tried to scream but he covered her mouth and the more she fought the harder he rammed into her. The fifteen minutes he had her up against the wall felt like an eternity, but she was relieved when he was finally done.

"Wow, you're feistier than the others, usually it takes me five minutes, but they didn't give me as much of a fight as you did." Mr. Kissel said as he zipped up his pants and threw a towel at Olivia. "Clean yourself up." He said before walking around his desk and sitting down.

Olivia quickly pulled up her pants and grabbed her bag before running out of his office and down to the girl's restroom to get herself together. After splashing some cold water on her face, she slowly made her way out of the bathroom. She was in so much pain, she just wanted to go home and take an awfully long shower.

~End of Flashback~

Amanda had tears streaming down her face as Olivia told her story. "God… Liv," Amanda could only say.

Olivia wiped away her own tears, "I didn't tell anyone what happened at first. I knew that when my mom found out it would crush her and the way no one believed my mother about her attack, I figured who would believe me. So, I decided to act like nothing ever happened. I just made sure I avoided Mr. Kissel from that point forward." Olivia took a breath before continuing. "But then I started to feel sick, and one day at school I was sent to the nurse who gave me a pregnancy test." Olivia laughed slightly, "I remember telling her that I wasn't pregnant, but she said based on the symptoms I had, it pointed to it. And she was right, she held up a positive test and I remember saying it can't be. The nurse just looked at me and said, 'that's what happens when you have sex.' I literally jumped off the examination table and yelled I didn't have sex, I was raped." Olivia closed her eyes as she fought the urge to breakdown. Taking a deep breath and blowing it out Olivia opened her eyes, "Um, so the nurse called the cops and my mom, and I told them everything." Olivia let out a laugh, "My mom left the room and found Mr. Kissel and well… she made him pay for what he did. It took three cops to get her off of him."

Amanda couldn't help but laugh, "Please tell me she got in some good hits."

Olivia nodded, "A bloody and broken nose and a blackeye. When they arrested him what he said after he raped me about how the others weren't as feisty as I was, that I realized that I wasn't his first. It turned out that he had raped eight other girls besides me."

Amanda eyes popped in shocked, "He still in prison, I hope?" Amanda asked.

Olivia nodded, "Yeah, nine counts of first-degree rape, he got fifty-five years for each count, unfortunately he was able to serve his sentence concurrently." Olivia revealed, "Amanda I wanted to keep you, but my mother didn't want me to. She was afraid that I would end up like her and part of me was afraid of that too. Plus, I didn't want to bring you up around an alcoholic." Olivia explained a little more in her choice in giving Amanda up for adoption before standing up, "I'll be right back." Olivia said before disappearing into her room. Couple of minutes later Olivia returned with a small box. Olivia retook her seat before looking at Amanda. "In this box is your hospital blanket, bracelet, hat and a picture of me holding you after you were born that a nurse took." Olivia explained before handing the box to Amanda.

Amanda stared down at the box in Olivia's hands before taking it into her own hands and opening it. Right on top was a picture of a fourteen-year-old Olivia holding her, then it was the hospital bracelet that only said, 'Baby Girl Benson'. Amanda looked up at Olivia, "You didn't name me?"

Olivia shook her head, "No, your parents wanted to name you themselves and I agreed." Olivia was interrupted by Melinda's phone. She watched as Melinda excused herself to answer it. Olivia turned back to Amanda, "I am curious to know what led you to have Melinda run your DNA through the system."

"Yeah," Amanda started remembering why she came here in the first place. "That's actually why I came here." Amanda stopped when Melinda walked back over to them.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I have to get back to work." Melinda said putting her coat on. "Liv, we need to do lunch, text me when you're free." Melinda said.

Olivia stood up giving Melinda a hug. "Yeah, we should definitely do lunch, I'll call you." Olivia said as she pulled back from the hug and walked Melinda to the door. After they said their goodbyes, Olivia made her way back to the living room retaking her seat, "Ok, so you were saying you came here to tell me what?"

"That when I went to see my mother to talk to her about how she seems to love Kim more then me, she revealed to me that I was adopted." Amanda closed her eyes willing her tears away. "I remembered you mentioning how you found out about your brother Simon, so I went to Melinda to run my DNA hoping for a hit." Amanda stood up and started to pace. "Never in a million years would I thought my birth mother would be you." Amanda took a deep breath, "Sorry…"

Olivia held up her hand stopping Amanda, "It's fine Manda, really, I never would've thought that thirty-five years later one of my detectives would be my baby girl that I gave up." Olivia said as she made her way into the kitchen to get herself a bottle of water. Taking a sip Olivia made her way back over to Amanda.

"What's his first name?" Amanda asked with regards to her father.

Olivia bit her lower lip, "Kevin, his name is Kevin Kissel." Olivia revealed.

Amanda nodded, "So I assumed that I got the blonde hair and blue eyes from him." Amanda stated seeing as Olivia has brunette hair and brown eyes.

Olivia nodded, "Yeah, but looking into your eyes I don't see him. The only thing that I remember about his eyes is his dark blue eyes, whereas yours is a lighter blue." Olivia was grateful that Amanda's eyes didn't remind her of her attacker.

"Did he know about me?" Amanda asked the next question.

Olivia shook her head, "No, I begged the prosecutor not to mention it during the trial. The prosecutor was kind enough to have me testify first so that I wouldn't have to when I was showing more. No one knows about what happen to me when I was fourteen. Cragen found out but only about the rape not the pregnancy. Judge Donnelly was the prosecutor on the case then. So, when she saw me for the first time when I started working for SVU she was glad that I didn't allow what happen to me to hold me back." Olivia started to laugh which confused Amanda, "Sorry it just hit me that I'm a grandma." Olivia said still laughing which caused Amanda to laugh too.

Once Amanda sobered up from her laughter, she took a sip of her water, "Yes you are." Amanda tilted her head a little as she really took in Olivia's appearance. "Liv," God that felt strange to say, especially now that she found out that Olivia was her birth mother. "Are you feeling ok?" Amanda asked concerned laced in her voice. Olivia looked so tired and…green. She noticed a lot over the past couple of weeks that Olivia seemed not herself, almost like she was sick.

Olivia pursed her lips as she thought for a minute, "I'm fine Manda, really, just tired that's all." Olivia finally said.

Amanda didn't believe her but decided not to push, for now. Before she could say anything else, there was a knock at the door. Olivia's eyes darted towards the door, so much for having a quite weekend to herself to relax. Olivia moved towards the door opening it revealing Rita Calhoun. "Hey Liv, can we talk please?" Rita asked.

Olivia nodded as she stepped aside letting Rita into the apartment. It's like today was 'let's go talk to Olivia.' Olivia closed the door and locked it before they made their way into the living room. "Rita, let me finish up with Amanda and then we can talk." Olivia suggested.

"Liv we can finish talking tomorrow if that's ok with you. I need time to process everything that has occurred today and how I want to proceed." Amanda said as she started to gather her things.

"Ok, are you sure?" Olivia asked.

Amanda nodded, "Yeah, I need time to let everything sink in. I promise to call tomorrow." Amanda said before leaving the apartment giving Olivia no chances to argue.

Olivia watched as the door closed, maybe it was for the best that they both take some time to process everything, especially her, a lot has transpired today. Her mind was racing though at how this revelation would affect their relationship both personally and professionally. There was so much to digest, just thinking about it made her even more tired.
