Summary: "You don't know the definition of 'no,' do you?" The question left her lips before she could even stop it, but Orihime didn't regret it. It was a factual question; Out of the time, she told her 'no,' Eva never listened.

After a moment of silence, Eva answered, "No, I don't."

Our Version of Bonnie and Clyde

-

A Dose Of Fear

"Everyone, This is Eva Easton, she is new to this school, and she will be joining our class from now on." The teacher introduced the new student that wasn't happy to be there. The new student had an unimpressed look placed on her face put a bored look on her pretty face, which sported gray eyes, a small nose, and full lips. Nails as black as her lengthy hair, Eva twisted a piece of her hair on her finger. "Eva, introduce yourself to the class."

Shoot the teacher a quick dirty look. Eva did what the teacher told her. In a fake high-pitched voice, Eva spoke, "Hello, my name is Eva Easton. I came to learn and be smart and-"

"Alright." The teacher quickly cut her off, causing a couple of chuckles to report around the room. "Your seat is in the back right there, and please take it." The annoyance in the teacher's voice was there for everyone to hear.

"Yes, I will," Eva replied in her fake high-pitched voice. Orihime watched the exchange happen curiously and continued to watch Eva as she walked to her seat. Eventually, Orihime's eyes left her and returned to the front. It was clear as day that Eva wasn't Japanese, which made Orihime even more curious. Is she from this country? Probably not.

It wasn't usual for them to get new students from around here (well, excluding the Soul Society), and Orihime was interested in knowing more about the world. The subject was pushed from Orihime's mind when the teacher commanded everyone's attention and started on with the day's lesson.

"Omg, it was so fun!" Someone within the circle yelled, Orihime let this comment fly over her head, and she continued not to pay attention, quietly eating her lunch. Today, Tatsuki couldn't make it, so Orihime was stuck with these girls she didn't know too much about, but she didn't mind because her head was moving a mile a minute, not giving her much time to chime in the conversation. Brown eyes stared up, looking for a certain orange color man; it been a little bit since she got to speak to Ichigo Kurosaki, and she was less than happy about that. Despite wanting to see him more, Orihime tried to give him space, it's been a month since the big fight happened, and Ichigo lost his powers.

It was clear that this change affected him, despite how much he claims that he wants an everyday life. Orihime didn't doubt he wanted a peaceful life, but she knew that Ichigo lived for action. She has seen this close to every time she has seen him fight. The tense muscles, the fiery brown eyes, and the dark smirks play on his lips; she has seen this look on his face plenty of times, and this is how Orihime knew he has a particular love for fighting.

However, what occupied Orihime's mind was his connection to Rukia. Rukia was the one who opened up the door to him, made him aware of hollows. She had also spent a lot of time with him and was there for him when he needed her. So, of course, they formed a valuable friendship; Orihime formed a great friendship with Rukia as well; Although that is what Orihime hoped all that it was between him and Rukia, just a company nothing more.

Orihime knew that she was selfish when she thought like this, but she couldn't help it. Orihime loved Ichigo for a long time, but she could help but feel like she has less chance with Ichigo the closer he got to her. Yes, the only reason she got to meet Ichigo was valid because of Rukia -and she could help but feel even more unencouraged due to this piece of information-, but she loved him first, right?

The guilt Orihime felt for these thoughts made her regret her feelings for Ichigo. She couldn't believe that she was so jealous of a woman that wasn't even here. A pressure weight down her heart; Yes, she isn't she.

On top of the high school building, she spotted the man of her thoughts casually leaning on the railings; But she is here.

There; Orihime watched as he lazily leaned against the railings; She is not here, but she is here, there, within his mind;

Orihime frowned deeply, Exactly how Ichigo is within my mind.

"Did you see the new girl?" The question picked up Orihime's interest, and she happily left her thoughts for another time.

"No, have you?"

"Yes, I have." The girl replied. Her answer pulled reactions from the other girls; however, Orihime decided to stay quiet for some reason.

"Oh! How is she like?"

"She seemed to mean at first, but she helped pick up my things today when I dropped so that she might have been having a bad day, and also she doesn't look like Japanese, European maybe, but I think she is a good person." Orihime hoped she was; Orihime was more than open to claiming another friend, plus it would give her something else to think about other than Ichigo and Rukia. Determined to push the conversation forward, Orihime finally spoke,

"Based on what you told us, I bet she is an amazing person!"

"Hm, I wonder which one should I get?" Orihime whispered to herself, not sure which type of ice cream she should pick up. Birthday Cake Ice Cream or Sea Salt Ice Cream?

After a few minutes, Orihime still couldn't decide despite how hard she thought about it; Birthday Cake is delicious but isn't it only for birthdays? It is nowhere near your birthday. Orihime, get the sea salt ice cream.

Lovering the birthday cake ice cream Orihime then protested her previous thoughts, Wait! Not everyone eats birthday cake ice cream on their birthday, and the last time I ate this ice cream, it wasn't my birthday!

But I always get birthday cake, ice cream

No, I don't

I got it last time

No, I didn't. I got plain old Vanilla

Then I got it the time before the last time

That isn't true either I got Chucky Monkey that time

But I never get sea salt ice cream; Letting out a defeated sign, Orihime lowered both of the ice cream pints she had in her hand; okay, I'm going to choose in, three, two, one-

Swiftly cutting off her train of thought, Orihime's head flew up. Straightening her back, Orihime dropped both ice creams, suddenly forgetting about them. A Hollow, I sense one nearby

Picking up the ice creams, Orihime quickly put it back where it belonged before grabbing her bag and quickly exited the small supermarket new to Karakura Town. Sprinting down the street toward the direction, the Orihime couldn't help but wonder if she was the only one who sensed it. Guilty, Orihime hoped she was the only one the sensed the hollow, she was looking forward to practicing on the hollow, and she wanted to try a new ability she was developing.

It wasn't only helpful; it also made a foe think twice about attacking again. Speeding up her run Orihime finally approached the hollow location and could but feel a bit of fear that she tried to push away, but it stubbornly stayed. When Orihime got a good look at it, she couldn't blame herself for feeling fear.

A large dark brown spider with multiple eyes spread across its body crawled around steadily around the playground, acting like it didn't notice her, but it did.

"Orihime. The hollow saw you. It knows you're here." Ayame, one of her healing spoke to her.

"I know, I saw it see me." When Orihime ran was close to the abandoned playground, Orihime knew she was in for a fight because of the spiritual pressure she felt, and then she within sight and made eye contact with one of the hollows she knew it was too late to run or hide, but Orihime felt like she was up to the challenge; at least she hoped so.

Closing her eyes, Orihime took a deep breath and ready herself for a battle that she knew would not be easy. Opening her eyes, a shock ran through her. What-

The hollow wasn't there. Eyes widened with shock. Orihime hastily looked around but couldn't spot it. The hollows present were still around her, so she knew it didn't run away, but it was nowhere to be seen.

"Orihime! Behind you!" Tsubaki yelled in her head, sending her nerves into a frenzy. Quickly looking behind her, the hollow crawled with thunderous speed towards her.

"Santen Kesshun!" Orihime ripped the words out of her throat, and her fairies wasted no time. The three fairies Lily, Hinagiku, and Baigon, raced to Orihime's defense, forming a large gold triangle in front of her, effectively blocking the hollows access to her. Relief filled her as she let off a sign.

"Thank-"

"Now is not the time!" Tsubaki cut her off; "Let me attack! Hurry!"

"Right!" Orihime opened her mouth and yelled, "Koten Zanshun!"

Tsubaki rushed out of her hairpin and attacked. Flying towards the hollow, he cut through three of its legs on its right side, leaving the hollow with one leg on its right and four legs on its left. Collapsing on the ground, the hollow squirmed, obviously not pleased. Going in for another attack, Tsubaki yelled,

"You're going to die!" Before mercilessly cutting off two of its back legs on its left side. A loud screech of pain left the hollow stunning Orihime.

Hollows were humans at one point in time, Orihime sorrowly thought to herself, How could I forget?

Orihime's sudden hesitation and lack of fighting spirit spotted Tsubaki in his tracks, "Orihime! What the hell!"

Tsubaki shouted angrily, already knowing what she was thinking. How many times must she do this?

He was no stranger to being stopped when he was attacking, and ultimately he was sick of it. Almost every time they come across a hollow, this happens, and if it doesn't, it is only because she successfully held in her sorrow until the end of the battle. Orihime didn't like that there wasn't much she could do that would let her save the hollow instead of destroying it, and it showed in her hesitation that she didn't like it. However, one day she will make this mistake of hesitation, and it will cost them dearly.

Ignoring Tsubaki, Orihime called off her fairies and took insight before her. Blood gushed from the hollow's wounds, and wails left the hollow to express its pain. It was then Orihime had her decision. I won't kill it. Instead, I will try and talk to it convince it to go to the other side.

"Orihime," Tsubaki said her name warningly.

"I know," Taking a deep breath, Orihime let her determination shine in her eyes, "I got this."

"Um, Hello." It didn't seem like the hollow hear her, but she continued to talk anyway, "My name is Orihime Inoue, and I'm here to help."

The hollow continued to squirm but less than before, "I know that it does seem like it, but I was only defending myself, and if I hurry, I can heal you, and you can go back to-"

The hollow suddenly stopped moving, causing her to cease speaking. After a few moments, Tsubaki spoke again, "Orihime-"

Throwing itself on its stomach, the hollow pushed with all its strength and jumped, throwing itself towards her.

"ORIHIME!"

"HURRY! DEFEND YOURSELF!"

"ORIHIME!"

"Shiten Koshen!"

Gray eyes watched this happen before them in disbelief. They never see anything like this. A bright golden light shines and engulfs the creature without mercy, not giving it a second chance to rethink its actions. The light dims and disappears, leaving a familiar-looking girl with brunt orange hair. The person watching as the girl stares into space before her hand flew up to her face covering them and her shoulders started to shake. Eventually, the girl falls to her knees and continues to cry, obviously upset about what just happened.

She didn't want to kill it. Despite it trying to kill her, she didn't want to kill it. Shocked by the girls' kindness that was obvious even from a distance, the person watched the girl cry for a few more minutes before a smirk spread on their lips. I finally found you.

Orihime slowly brushed through her hair as she got lost within her thoughts. Yesterday was emotionally tiring, and it looked like today was going to be like that too. When she tried to go to sleep last night, all she could hear was the hollow pained wails and how it fought to live. It was haunting, but she hoped that it was in a better place now, and then maybe the hollow could return to its former self. Taking a deep breath, Orihime started to prepare herself mentally for the day, hoping that she move forward fast.

"Reporting from Karakura Town," Orihime didn't want it to be silent in her apartment today, so she turned on her tv, not really caring what channel she was on; Apparently, the news channel was on, interest peak Orihime went to investigate. Orihime never really watched the news, so she was never on the news channel, so it was odd for the news to be on if she never turned to that channel.

That's weird, Orihime thought but took it with a grain of salt. Sitting on the couch, Orihime leaned on the coach's armrest, training her eyes on the tv Orihime gave them her attention.

"The body was found here in this house behind me, and based on the inside information I was able to receive, the investigators first thought it was a suicide, but due to new information, it was declared a homicide. Investigators believe this is not the only one." The woman spoke to the camera, green eyes fearlessly looking into the camera. "I will report to you when I learn more."

That scary, Orihime thought to herself as the camera goes backs to the other reporters. This was one of the many reasons Orihime didn't like watching the news; it made her scared of the world.

Out of nowhere, a cold chilling feeling crept within her chest, causing her to tense. Shifting slightly, Orihime also got up, but something inside her told her 'no,' making her lay on the couch with her body tense from fear. Orihime revisits her previous thoughts.

Why was the news on again? I know that I didn't leave the tv on the news channel; Orihime let her eyes fall close to fearful of keeping them open. The last time I watched tv was a week ago, and I watched a cooking show, not this.

The more she thought about it, the more the fear builds as she got closer to what she thinks is happening in her heart. Wait. I'm overdramatic again; I have to calm down.

Taking deep silent breaths, Orihime tried to pull herself together. It's just the news, and it has made you paranoid.

Breathe in. Nothing is wrong.

Breathe out; nobody is in your home with you-

CRASH

A loud frightened squeal left Orihime as her body violently shook in shock. Snatching herself up on her knees, Orihime looked at her bathroom entrance and saw nobody there. Orihime knew the sound came from there, and she knew that her mirror was broken. She didn't know how other than that she was too far away to break it herself which meant, someone else did.

It also meant that she wasn't alone in her apartment like she thought she was.

Understandably frightened, Orihime stood up from her coach and slowly made her way to her bathroom, taking small tiny steps. What are you going to do, Orihime? Confront them? And possibly get killed and the process?

Despite her protest, her body continued to move painfully slow steps towards the bathroom, ready to turn tail and run at any second. Have you forgotten? I can defend myself?

She was closer how, Hollows, yes. Humans, not so much.

A little more, They might not be human-

But what if they are? We never used our powers against another human being.

Orihime was finally there in front of the entrance of her bathroom; I hope it isn't.

And she was horrified.
