"Aaron no." Hailey sighs as I rub my head.

"Hon she's only fourteen." I plead.

"Aaron don't you dare hon me. I said no more kids especially a street kid?!"

"Derek was a street kid." I shoot back.

"That was different and you know it. How did you even find this girl?" Hailey asks knowing it's not going to be good because I'm on a case.

"We were interviewing some of the kids and her and some boys were in a fight. We pulled them off of each other and got all the kids to the hospital." I start but she interrupts me.

"See she was fighting. No we don't need that in our house with our kids!"

"Hailey look she's been on her own since she was eleven after her sister committed suicide and her parents abandoned her. They tried to put her in different groups homes once child services found her but she always ran away or got into fights. There's no more options expect juvenile hall. She's been by herself out there. She's severely malnourished and sleep deprived. I'm not asking for it to be permanent but at least for a few days until I can find her a stable home." I sigh looking at the tiny scared but angry looking blonde through the window.

"Fine. Aaron I mean it when I say a few days and that's it. She's your responsibility, I don't want her messing with our kids schedule." Hailey states firmly.

"Okay and thank you. I love you Hailey and I'll see you tomorrow." I state softly before we hang up. I take a deep breath before walking into the exam room.

"How is she?" I ask the doctor as Jennifer presses her nails into herself not looking at us.

"She's a lot better than a lot of long-term street kids I have seen. She needs a lot of nutrition to help build back her strength and it looks like she has a case of acute asthma so I'm going to write a prescription for that. Therapy is probably a good idea..."

"NO." Jennifer suddenly yells catching us off guard.

"Jennifer..."

"MY NAME ISN'T JENNIFER AND I'M NOT GOING TO THERAPY!" She screams before looking down sharply.

"Shit." She mumbles as the doctor and I see blood from her pressing her nails into her arm. The doctor without thinking grabs her arms to restrain her as a nurse bandages her arm and connects the restraints that cover her arms and hands.

"GET THEM OFF ME!" Jennifer screams.

"You know I can't do that. Also therapy isn't optional especially after this display of behavior and mental state." The doctors states calmly as I stand back eyeing Jennifer.

"Jennifer what name would you like to be called?" I ask calmly.

"JJ." She whispers settling down a little bit. I nod as the doctor sighs.

"JJ your asthma medication is going to come through a nebulizer so that needs to be worn for a hour every morning and night until we get it under control." He states towards her but also me. I nod as JJ looks down.

"I don't need it." She states trying to stay calm.

"JJ look it's not debatable. Your lungs are suffering." Doctor Rimes states calmly.

"I don't need it!" She yells angrily. Doctor Rimes sighs as I take over.

"JJ I know you're frustrated but you need this medicine to get better and feel better." I state calmly but firmly.

"You're not my dad! You can't tell me what to do!" She yells ripping away from us.

"You're right I'm not but I am going to be your legal foster parent so I have legal guardianship over you so I am in charge of your medical care. That means I decide what happens and you are taking the medication." I state firmly as she glares at me.

"There's no point. I'm not going to stay and you're going to get rid of me. Everyone does." She mumbles. My eyes soften as she says that. She's shouldn't have to deal with all of this, she's only a kid.

"Milo?" She whispers darting her eyes around.

"Who's Milo JJ?" Doctor Rimes asks calmly.

"Where Milo?!" She panics. I eye Doctor Rimes confused on who this Milo person is.

"JJ I can't help you find out where Milo is if you don't tell me how he is." Doctor Rimes states softly as I dial Kate's number.

"What's her or his name?" She asks already knowing what's going on.

"Jennifer Jareau but she goes by JJ apparently. She's fourteen and she's a street kid." I sigh softly.

"When are you guys getting back to D.C.?"

"Hopefully tomorrow afternoon or night. She's in the hospital right now. Kate, there's signs of self harm. She injured herself in front of me and the doctor." I whisper knowing JJ is only a few feet away. I hear her sigh before speaking up.

"Okay. I want to see her the first full day you're back so call me. We both know the underlying factors of self harm especially with teenage girls." She states softly.

"Okay. We'll see you then. Hailey probably won't be joining us." I add before we hang up.

"JJ how are you feeling?" I ask as the doctor checks her vitals.

"I want Milo." She whimpers. I sigh knowing I'm not going to be able to find this Milo. He's probably a street kid who ran when we showed up.

"I know you do sweetheart but I'm mostly concerned about you right now and that you're okay." I state calmly as she gets agitative.

"NO! NO NO! I'm leaving!" She screams trying to rip off the wires and tubes attached to her.

"JJ NO." Doctor Rimes and I both yell at the same time. He goes to grab and reattach her equipment as I grab her arms to hold her still. How she got out of restraints when we weren't looking is beyond me. Next thing I know JJ starts screeching as loud as she possibly can.

"I'm going to have to sedate her." Doctor Rimes yells over her as I nod knowing it's the best option even if I hate it. He quickly works to sedate her.

"She's also severely underweight. She's weighing in at ninety four pounds right now when she should be between one hundred and fifteen to one hundred and thirty." He states sadly. I nod knowing this girl doesn't need to be with anyone but Hailey and I but Hailey isn't going to budge on taking in another kid.

"I'm going to send some meal replacement drinks with you for her. She also is going to be on a nutrient supplement that comes in pill form. In regards to the self harm indications, I'm not going to prescribe anything right now but the therapist probably will." He adds as JJ starts to close her eyes.
