The three of them walked awkwardly next to each-other in front of the school.

"Soooo...uh...small talk." Y/N started. Nobody really knew what to say. For the most part, all of them were strangers from mostly different crowds. There was a solo detective that no one was supposed to know, an egotistical honors student, and a lazy semi-genius with a bad habit of studying people. The only common interest between them was crime and unfortunately that wasn't an appropriate conversation topic to have in public, especially when young women were looking at the group and gossiping.

"Oh my god guys, look. That brown haired kid is literally so fine puh-lease."

"I heard they all had perfect scores on all subjects."

"Seriously?"

"It's hard to believe there are actually people like that."

"I think I like the little one on the right."

"What? He's so weird, Kyoko. Look at how he's dressed."

"Man, those two are total opposites."

"Yeah. This one looks like a sheltered genius who's been groomed for success his whole life, but the other one…"

Yeah...They'd probably be pretty traumatized if they knew their pretty boy Light Yagami was a possible serial killer. Besides, Y/N doubted that L felt safe sharing information with her anyways. He could get any information that he wanted on her if he desired, but he hadn't done any research on her at all and didn't necessarily plan to either. He didn't think that she was relative to the case. The boys seemed ready to go their separate ways when...

"Hey L." Y/N said.

"Hmm? Please call me Ryuga here."

"Oh right, sorry. Anyways, I have a few questions I'd like to ask you if you don't mine." You internally cringed at yourself. Truly, you just wanted to know more about his method of solving crimes to better your own, but you sounded a bit like a fangirl.

"What kind of questions?" He asked, his voice was monotone and he seemed disinterested. Queue more internal cringing and self-hatred.

"Just stuff about your work, tips for solving cases, and other similar things...if that's okay with you. Of course, if it's classified or anything it's fine sorr-"

"Three times."

"What?" She said confused.

"You've said sorry three times in the past twenty minutes."

(Switch to Second Person POV)

"Oh, sorry." As soon as you realized what you said, you mentally facepalmed.

"You seem to show symptoms of having anxiety, I'd suggest getting that checked out." Rude.

"And you show signs of autism. Can we get back to the conversation topic?"

L nodded.

"Alright, I want tips. I don't really do anything professional, but I solve cases as a hobby and occasionally give information to the police." This is it. This was your chance to get his number and talk to him. "Do you have a phone number or anything I could contact you through?"

L nodded once again and handed you his phone to put it in. Suddenly, Light interjected.

"Woah, y/n! Are you normally this careless? You just met him today, he's practically a stranger! And you're already exchanging numbers? What if he's a creep or a liar?! No offense Ryuga."

"None taken."

"Well, I suppose I didn't really think of that," You admitted, "but even so- we're on the same campus. If he tried something I'd be able to confront him or report it." Light sighed and looked at you like you were stupid.

"And if he just left and ditched the campus afterwards?"

"Um..." Welp. He got you there. After everyone exchanged numbers, the group started to part. Ryuga went to his car ('A limo!?!?' you thought to yourself.) and both you and Light watched as he started to drive off.

"So y/n, want to go to my house?"

"Why?" You were confused. Light has never asked to hang out before.

"Why not?" He smiled. You could easily see through his camouflage, he was just trying to be friendly and boost his reputation amongst his peers. However, you were bored and decided to go anyways.

"Sure." You shrugged and the both of you got into his car and started driving towards his place.

"Wait a second...I brought my car to the school..." You realized.

"Oh yeah, right." There was a short pause. "Maybe you could just spend the night?"

"What."

"Oh no, I'm sorry if that sounded weird. It's just that we've never hung out casually before, despite knowing each-other for so long. Besides, we're almost at my house and it'd be a waste of time to go back. I'll just drop you of there tomorrow."

"I guess that's fine? Thank you." Weird. You didn't want to hang out with him for THAT long. Only a little bit to cure your boredom. Whoops.

Finally, the both of you arrived at his house and walked inside. You were greeted by Light's family almost immediately.

"Woahh, you have a girl over? Isn't it a bit late for that?" exclaimed his sister. "Is this your girlfriend?" she teased.

"Nope! Just a school-mate." He laughed. "Unless?" He looked you up and down. You backed up as far as you could. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.

"Kidding. No need to be so serious." He winked. God, you hated him. "Anyways, follow me." He started leading you to his room.

"Mom! Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Mom! Lights bringing a girl to his room!" 'Can she just shut up?' you thought to yourself. Today was starting to suck. You wanted to cure your boredom for a couple hours but now you needed to stay overnight with no way to leave. Dammit. Light opened his bedroom door and you rushed over to his bed and flopped onto your back. This wasn't your first time here obviously. You've worked on countless group projects here before, but this was your first time alone. Normally, you'd go to a coffee shop if it was just the two of you so it'd be a little less awkward.

"What do you normally do at home?" You said, turning towards Light.

"Just the usual."

"Like what?"

"Studying, T.V, read."

"Wow that sounds boring..don't you play video games or anything?"

"I mean, I don't have a console and I need to keep up my grades so I don't really have time for things like that." He scratched his head.

"What's your major? Your dad is a police officer right? A chief? Are you planning on following in his tracks or...?"

"Yeah. I admire his work, and I hope to bring justice to the world once I get into the field."

"Mmm.." you hummed in response. "Speaking of justice...how do you feel about Kira?"

"Ah the Kira case?" He paused for a moment, as if he were afraid to say something wrong. "Well, given the information I think the subject is likely-". You cut him off.

"No, not the subject or who you think it is. I want to know your opinion on what he's doing. The ethicality and morality of it. Do you think it's okay? What's your opinion?"

"Oh well...I think it's wrong." He said bluntly. You stared at him.

"No you don't." There was a thick, almost unbreakable silence between the two.

...

...

...

Eventually, Light broke the silence with the sigh.

"You got me," He said, "I can see where he's coming from. I mean, hypothetically y/n, let's say your mother died. She was murdered. You'd want her killer dead, right?" He paused for a second and you nodded. "You see, that's part of the logic behind it. In my theory anyways. On top of that, look at the crime rates and compare it to the Kira victims. There's a direct correlation between the two. I'm not saying I agree with what Kira's doing, but I would say that-"

"It's beneficial...yeah I have to agree with you there." You looked at Light to watch his response. "I do think that some people deserve to die." You laughed, "However, I don't think it should be decided like this. People suck. Their judgment can be easily clouded. IF this IS a person, who's to say their mind is strong enough to stop them from becoming a megalomaniac. And isn't this person doing the same thing as the people it's killing? It's punishing others for killing, by killing them. A bit hypocritical, don't you think? Then of course, there's the minor criminals being killed as well. While I do believe that r*pists and most murderers deserve death to some extent, I don't think that bank robbers and such deserve the same punishment. And who's to say those being accused and killed are even guilty in the first place. Kira didn't know that the fake L was a criminal and Kira killed him. And false accusations and arrests happen all the time."

There was a silence once again and neither of you knew what to say.

"Movie?" You asked.

"Movie." Light responded. The two of you went downstairs onto the couch and turned on the television. Eventually, the two of you fell asleep.

A/N - Hey! Sorry this chapters so late. I had PSAT's, driver's training, and all that jazz. Anyways, I found scripts of the show online so I can work on the book at school and should be able to get them out quicker. Please point out any grammar/spelling mistakes I made in this chapter. Thank you for reading!

P.S. Also wanted to clarify that the mention of autism was absolutely NOT an insult in any way shape or kind. It was a sort of "Well if you're going to diagnose me and invade my personal space and assume stuff about my mental health, I'm going to do the same towards you!" kinda thing. I've seen a lot of people with autism say they relate to L and I think it's super cool so I head-canon it. However, I don't insert my head-canons into my fanfiction so if he is-or isn't- autistic in this book is completely up to you :)
