Only five days later everything blew up on Twitter. Seth was trending and it wasn't in a positive light. Becky had laid it all out there in a tweet. That he had left her and told her to move out as soon as possible, and that he didn't want anything to do with their child moving forward.
"What the fuck?" Marlow mumbled.
She never in a million years thought Seth would leave Becky like that. She reached for her phone to call her best friend. It started ringing just as she picked it up, and to no surprise his name flashed across the screen. She hit the green button and put the phone to her ear.
"What the fuck is going on?" She asked.
Drew chuckled on the other end. Her and Drew met many years ago on the indi scenes. They were both signed to WWE now and continued being best friends.
"Hi, Marlow," he said.
"Sorry. Hi, Drew," she said. "Now tell me what the fuck is going on."
"I don't know anything more than you do. From what I can read, he left her," he said.
"But why?" She asked.
"Maybe because you knocked some sense into him Friday. I don't know, Marlow. That's not why I'm calling. I'm calling to check up on you. This is fucking huge. How are you holding up? What are you planning to do?" He asked.
"Nothing," she answered. "I told him to learn to live on his own instead of using women."
"Has he reached out?" He asked.
"No. That's the weird thing. It would be typical him to call me and tell me he did it," she said.
"So maybe he finally listened," he said.
"Or maybe he can't get through because you're on the line with me," she said.
He chuckled again. She knew that wasn't the case. Seth would have called the second he was alone after having broken up with Becky. This wasn't the Seth she knew, and that worried her.
"Maybe he called someone else. Yes, that's it. He found someone else and left Becky for her," she said.
"If you say so," he said. "I gotta go, Marlow. I just needed to make sure you're okay."
Two days later when Marlow walked into SmackDown, she felt like everyone was staring at her. It felt like everyone was whispering behind her back. She quickly found the locker room and left her things there. She needed air. She ran to catering, grabbed a cup of coffee and hurried out of the room. She almost collided with Seth who was on his way into catering.
"Hi, Seth," she said. "Bye, Seth."
She tried moving past him but he gently grabbed her arm. All he did was look at her. She nodded her answer to the unasked question. They both walked down the hallway with everyone's eyes following them, and made it outside.
"I feel like everyone is staring at me," she said.
"They are," he said. "Don't worry, they'll learn soon enough you're not part of this."
"What the fuck did you do, Seth?" She asked.
"I thought you had been caught up on social medias like everyone else," he said.
"Don't be a smartass right now. You kicked her out. That was cruel. It's okay not to want her anymore but give her a chance to find somewhere else to live," she said.
"I did," he sighed. "I told her she could stay for as long as it takes but she called Charlotte who came and picked her up right away. She chose to move out the same day and then bent the truth to make me even more of a bad guy. I'm not downplaying my role here. I did leave her, and I don't want to see the kid again, but I did not kick them out. I'm not that coldhearted."
She nodded and he sighed in return.
"I owe you an apology," he said. "It's long overdue but better late than never, right? I was way out of line back then. You're not a selfish bitch. That title belongs to me after how I acted. I had everything and I threw it away because I was scared to lose you. Fucking ironic that's what actually caused me to lose you, but in my head I thought I could make you stay. I had no right. I know that now. I'm sorry, Marlow. I'm truly and deeply sorry."
"I forgive you," she said.
"Good," he smiled. "Wow, I feel better. I better head inside before anyone gets any bright ideas about us. Kill it tonight. I'll see you around."
"That's it?" She asked confused.
"Yeah, pretty much," he shrugged. "Unless you want me to apologize again."
"No, I'm good," she forced a smile. "I'll see you around, Seth."
He walked inside and she was left feeling dumbfounded. This was not the Seth she knew. This was a new Seth trying his hardest to live on his own to prove to himself that he could do so. She took out her phone and called Drew.
"Hi, Marlow," he said. "It's Friday so that means SmackDown. Let me guess. He begged you to take him back."
"No, he didn't say anything like that. He apologized for what he did back then, and then he told me he would see me around."
"Wait, what?" He asked.
"I know," she laughed. "I'm fucking confused but I'm happy too. Is that weird? I love that asshole of a man, but I'm happy that he didn't ask me to come back."
"No, I get it," he said. "Let's hope it lasts. It's only been two days. Let's see how he plays it out."
