Was Giovanni surprised that Zatanna and Artemis didn't go to the Halloween party? Not really, he and Paula actually were able to have a date because of that and most likely Billy was still hanging out with the team as Captain Marvel. Hmm, time to raise their allowances. And then he smelt burnt skin, seeing Zatanna cry and her hands looked burned.
Luckily, Paula had come in with a first aid kit. "I've got her."
Giovanni nodded before looking at Artemis, seeing that she too looked upset. "Come on, piccola tigre. Let's get your cuts taken care of." He said, intent on talking with her.
Zatanna and Paula were at the kitchen table, the former getting her hands bandaged as Artemis and Giovanni walked into the living room with another first aid kit.
"So, what happened?" Giovanni asked, cleaning Artemis' cuts.
"There was a freak with a.. non-magic sword." Artemis didn't look up, frowning as she remembered what happened.
"Hmm." That was troubling. "Face bandage." He said, gently putting one on her cheek.
"Ow.." yeah, that hurt. "Am I done?"
Giovanni looked at her face. "Are you hurt anywhere else?"
"No. At least, nothing pain relievers wouldn't fix." Artemis shrugged.
"Okay, then your done. I'll go get you some medicine." Giovanni dismissed her. "Good job tonight. If you and Zatanna look that bad, I'd hate to see the other guy."
Artemis nodded once as she gave her dad a small smile. She looked at the table.
"We found out how he got the sword and.." Zatanna let out a small sob, both from the information as well as the pain of her hands being bandaged. "He killed his sister, mẹ. She's dead because that freak.." she started crying openly now.
"Oh, con thỏ nhỏ. Shh, shh.." Paula gently pulled Zatanna into a hug, rubbing soothing circles on her back. "Bây giờ bạn đã an toàn. Không sao đâu."
Artemis walked over and hugged her mother from behind, reaching a hand over and put a hand on Zatanna's shoulder.
Giovanni frowned as he walked over to the table. "Hey, coniglia." He put a hand on her head, how he kept her relaxed when she was young.
Giovanni and Paula would talk later, get the full scope of what happened based on what they would piece together. Giovanni was going to let Billy know when he got home, and get a hold of Jade in the morning to see if she could come over or at least talk to them on the phone. But, for right now, their girls needed them to make sure they would be alright on this most hallow night.
