Courage and Spinel drove down the outskirts of Nowhere.

"It looks pretty barren out here, Courage", Spinel wondered, "Ya sure we're not lost?"

"We haven't even reached town yet, Courage responded, "I know Nowhere ain't the most populated place, but it's not a ghost town".

"Wait", Spinel asked, "Nowhere?"

"That's what the town is called", Courage explained.

"Wow!", Spinel exclaimed as she started to chuckle, "I literally landed in the middle of Nowhere!" Spinel began to laugh. Then Courage to laugh along with her. This lasted for about 10 seconds. Spinel then noticed a building on the horizon. It was called 'Sweet Stuff Bakery'. Spinel grinned with excitement.

"Courage, stop the truck!", Spinel squeed, "Come on! Let's stop here!

"Why?", Courage asked before he noticed the bakery, "You wanna stop for sweets?"

"Yes, please!", Spinel pleaded. Courage sighed, before he stopped the truck and parked it near the bakery.

"Can you Gems even eat?", Courage asked.

"Well, we don't have to", Spinel explained, "But we can! I tasted a donut once. It felt like I was in paradise! Please, Courage! I wanna try these pastries!"

"The things I do for love", Courage sighed, "Alright fine. I'll give you money, but don't go too crazy". He then pulled out a $100 bill and gave it to the Gem.

"Ya want something, Courage?", Spinel asked before frowning, "Or you can't eat sweets?"

"No, it's okay", Courage explained, "I'm not allergic to sweets. Not even chocolate. I know it's strange because I'm a dog, but the doctor said that I have some kind of immunity to it."

"You're not just any dog, Courage", Spinel smiled, "You're one of a kind!"

"Aw, thanks Spinel!", Courage blushed, "Just get me a lemon pound cake and I'll be good. I'll wait for you outside."

"Great!", Spinel grinned, "I'll be back soon, snookums!" Spinel then kissed Courage on the cheek, causing his entire body to blush red. Courage then let out his signature laugh. Both of them exited the truck and Courage watched Spinel gleefully enter the shop. He was happy for her. But then he heard another vehicle stop nearby. It was a black taxi with a painted picture of a red cat's head on the hood, it's sides and on the trunk cover. Courage gasped, because he knew what this meant. The taxi door opened to reveal that same red cat holding a bag of groceries. Katz was back.

Courage whimpered loudly. Katz then noticed the dog and he glared at him sinisterly. In response, Courage yelled until his ears launched off his head. Katz waved off the taxi, and it drove away.

"Hello, dog", Katz spat, "Quite a coincidence seeing you here. Like that taxi back here? I'm starting my own taxi business. In fact, I'll soon to running all the taxis in this town! Don't worry though. I won't kill my customers this time. That's just bad business. But I will destroy any competition that stands in my way! And before you ask, no dogs are allowed in my taxis!" Courage was initially terrified, but then decided to stand up for himself.

"What are you doing here then?", Courage snapped. He immediately regretted it when Katz began to walk towards him.

"Truthfully", Katz growled, "I just came here to treat myself. You know, after having my plans foiled again and again! I wanted to subside my rage. But seeing you here makes me want to treat myself in a different way. How about a little sport before painful dying, dear boy? Now you'll get to know what a baseball feels!" Katz then put down his groceries and pulled a baseball bat out. Courage gasped and he immediately ran towards the bakery. But Katz managed to hit with the bat. Courage crashed against the side of Eustace's truck. He fell onto the ground in a lot of pain. But Katz wasn't done with him, as he sprinted towards the trucks and hit the dog's stomach with the bat. Katz the continued to assault Courage. Spinel exited the bakery with multiple bags of sweets, whistling along the way. She gasped when she saw Courage being beaten by a giant cat. She dropped the bags and let out a scream.

"COURAGE!", Spinel screamed, "LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE!" Katz froze upon hearing that and turned to face the Gem. Courage turned to face Spinel, grateful that she came by. Katz angrily walks toward Spinel.

"And who are you supposed to be?!", Katz spat.

"Doesn't matter who I am!", Spinel barked, "You leave him alone, or I'm gonna make you suffer! You've messed with him before, haven't you?!"

"Oh, that is an understatement!", Katz grinned, "The dog and I go way back! His death is long overdue! But I must say, I do love your spunk! And I see you got yourself some sweets!"

"Yeah, what about them?!", Spinel scowled.

"How about a little sport, dear girl?", Katz smiled, "If you win, you can take my groceries. If I win, I take your sweets! We'll decide what happens to the dog afterwards!" Spinel's face darkened, but then she smirked. Katz looked surprised.

"A game?", Spinel cackled, "I love playing games! But I ain't gonna be playing your games! I'm gonna make ya play my game! And we're gonna play it in style!" Spinel kicked Katz across the road and began to roughhouse with him over the outskirts, as she began to sing.

"That's right I heard the story over and over again!

Spinel threw Katz onto the road, where he began to back away from her. He was truly terrified. Courage was both horrified and proud of Spinel at the same time. He quickly began to pick up Spinel's groceries, and then preceded to steal Katz's groceries. As Courage was putting them in the truck, Spinel was slowly walking towards Katz. Her sadistic side had reared it's ugly side. But she suddenly heard a vehicle screech to a halt. It was Di Lung and he nearly ran Spinel over with his sports car.

"Watch where you're goin', ya fool!", Di Lung spat. Without hesitation, he drove off. This enraged Spinel, who then stretched her arm to grab Di Lung's car by the rear. She then pulled the car towards her and held it over her head. Di Lung was now scared for his life.

"Where did you find this freak?!", Katz demanded to Courage, "Who is she?!" Courage was too shocked to say anything. Spinel's face began to contort with rage. She started to spin Di Lung's car like a top and continued to sing.

"Who am I? Who am I? What are you even saying?

He's the loser of the game I didn't know you were playing!

She grabbed onto Katz and began to spin him around as well.

She launched the car and it continued to spin throughout the outskirts of Nowhere until it exploded. Di Lung continued to fly into the distance until he was out of sight. Spinel then let go of Katz, who continued to spin until he laid dazed on the road. Spinel began to laugh until she began to realize what she just did. She looked around at the damage she caused and she began to tear up. But then she heard the truck horn get honked three times. She turned to face Courage, who was back in the truck and looked displeased.

"Come on, Spinel!", Courage ordered, "Let's go!" Spinel quickly rushed back into Eustace's truck, and Courage drove back onto the road. In the process, he ran over the dazed Katz with the truck, but that was not an accident. Courage was frustrated and Spinel couldn't bring herself to look at him.

"Spinel, what was that for?!", Courage yelled, "Why did you go crazy back there?! What is wrong with you?!" He then noticed that tears were falling down Spinel's face. She was beside herself.

"I'm sorry, Courage", Spinel sniffled, "When I saw you get beaten, it did something to me. You've done for so much for me, and I would never be able to forgive myself if I let you get hurt. But I know that it's toxic for me to beat up people I didn't even know. I was supposed to learn that lesson by now, but I'm still a bad egg!" Spinel tugged on her pigtails as she began to cry. Courage immediately felt bad for his outburst and he used his right hand to affectionately grab Spinel's head. Spinel looked at him with teary-eyed confusion.

"It's okay, Spinel", Courage soothed, "I appreciate that you care! People have outbursts all the time, and you did it to protect me. If anyone deserved that beatdown, it was definitely Katz. And, let's just say that we got some free groceries!" He then revealed Katz's grocery bags. Spinel looked shocked for a bit, before she decided to laugh.

"I guess we both were naughty today!", Spinel giggled as she wiped her tears away.

"I guess so!", Courage smiled as he looked through the bag, "Hey, Katz bought everything we need! Even vinegar, for some reason. We have all of the necessary groceries!"

"So, does this mean we have to go home now?", Spinel asked.

"Nah!", Courage smiled, "I still gotta show you Nowhere. We don't have to come back until sunset. Just try to hold back your anger and refrain from hurting people. But don't worry. I'm gonna be here to help you. Now let's just enjoy the ride!"

"Sure thing buddy!", Spinel cooed. She gently wrapped her arms around Courage, and they both smiled. As the truck drove out of sight, Katz was seething with rage.

"That girl has earned herself a spot on my kill list!", Katz spat, "I'll make sure she suffers true pain! I'll have her plead for death! But how am I supposed to stop her?" He then sees one of his own taxis approach him. The door opened to revealed a small figure sitting in the back seat. It was another one of Courage's greatest enemies: Le Quack.

"Hop in, my friend", Le Quack smiled, "We have tons to talk about." Katz sighed as he entered the taxi. As soon as he got in, the taxi sped off. The inside of the taxi was purple with yellow lining. It was clearly a fancy taxi, as Katz intended it to be.

"So, you saw everything?", Katz asked.

"Everything that I needed to see", Le Quack nodded, "That girl is no ordinary foe. I can tell that she is a Gem. Those creatures are extremely prominent in Beach City. They are very strong, so the possibility of us defeating her with brute force is extremely slim."

"Oh, great!", Katz lamented, "And I developed the perfect business plan! The dog can't possibly sabotage a taxi enterprise! This was supposed to be my chance to get myself rich and finally put an end to the dog and his family! But now that he has that girl, he can easily stop me. She already beat me like a ragdoll, and there's nothing that can beat her!"

"Now, that isn't true", Le Quack grinned, "She may outclass us in terms of strength, but it is very evident that she is both mentally and emotionally weak. If we push her far enough, she won't be able to control herself. She'll destroy the Bagge family in a fit of rage! And once she realizes that, she'll destroy herself! Then we take her gemstone, and sell it! We won't have any more worries!"

"That sounds like an intelligent plan", Katz acknowledged, "But how are we supposed to do that? How do we trigger her without putting our own lives at risk?"

"Oh, the farmer will do that for us!", Le Quack grinned, "His spiteful nature will no doubt bristle this girl's temper. There will evidently be some big quarrels. But I have the perfect plan to ensure that the family does destroy itself in the most agonizing way possible!"

"Oh really?!", Katz grinned, "Whatever you have in mind, count me in! Our combined forces should be enough to make sure that the family finally dies! Then, Spinel will truly learn what's like to meet the dog's 'other friends'!" Katz and Le Quack laughed sinisterly.
