A month passed since Spyro became stranded on a different world, and already he began to get used to his new life and even felt that it was more fulfilling than back in the Dragon Realms. Overall, his lifestyle of exercise and eating went from recreational to survival. Despite being a dragon, he found that most of the larger creatures had a tendency to jump blindly into a fight if hungry or feel if their turf is being disturbed. That led to a lot of fights over food and territory.

Thankfully, not all of his new neighbors were openly hostile to him. During a particularly nasty fight against a fire-breathing T-Rex creature, a creature armed with a huge bone greatsword aided him in the fight and the beast was driven off. Spyro could tell that the creature was ready to continue fighting if he turned on him, but since the fight to defend the grove was over, he left the creature to his devices.

Speaking of the grove, Spyro laid claim to it to allow the docile herbivores to graze there in peace, mostly so he could have a reliable source of food aside from the fish he took a liking to on day one. So long as the herbivores were left alone, Spyro kept the peace.

After his first week without proper clothes, aside from his swimming shorts, he began to notice the durability of the hides of the larger creatures that he gets forced to kill to defend his grove. Despite being raised among the Artisans, he had no talent for tailoring or leather work. However, having a shirt, no matter the craftsmanship, is better than no shirt at all.

By the time the month was over, he had improved the camp he found so that it could fit him properly and store his spare goods. The life he had built up in that month, however, was about to change in the last night of that month.

Spyro was snoring away in sleep after a hard day of work. Night was soon to end, but as if the land itself didn't want to wait for daylight, it began to tremble, waking Spyro from his sleep.

"Bahamut Above!" Spyro exclaimed in an upset voice. "There better be a good reason for me being woken up!" He got up and out of the tent and into his grove. Looking around carefully, he found that there was nothing going on in the grove that could shake the ground. With a slight sigh of disappointment, he began to head back to his tent.

The ground shook again, and now that he was outside of his tent, he could also hear a commotion at sea. Taking a look, he could see a bunch of ships constructed of wood and bone, and were sporting golden sails...and a volcano that seemed to be rising from the water, and was headed for land.

"Great Scales!" Spyro exclaimed in shock as he watched the ships get tossed about the waves by the volcano...and one ship was wedged between two of its peaks. Spyro opened his wings and took to the skies, his hero habits kicking in. He used what magic he knew to enhance his hearing, and picked up someone calling for help.

"Hello!? Anybody there?" A female voice called out in fear. He had managed to get over the top of the ship and the volcano when the voice spoke again. "Oh! Hey, it's you." He looked to where the voice was coming from and saw two creatures, similar to the one that helped him against the T-Rex. "Look what happened to the ship!" The brightly clothed one said to the other, as she pointed to the wedged ship. "We have to do something!"

Spyro hovered above the two creatures and the ship, wanting to make sure that they didn't decide to try doing something stupid.

"Hey, our safety comes first and foremost!" The second creature, dressed in chainmail and sounding male, yelled at his female compatriat. He then pointed away from the ship while yelling, "It's not safe here, this way!" The two then began to head that direction.

The moving volcano suddenly shifted, causing the ship to get jostled from its wedged position and began to start falling towards the two creatures. Spyro didn't hesitate and landed between them and the ship, catching the bow just before it hit them. The two paused in their fleeing, looking at him in awe at the show of strength.

Spyro took notice of this and called out, "Stop staring at me and get moving! I've got this!"

The armored male nodded, understanding mixed with his awe, and grabbed the female and kept them moving. Spyro then began carefully guiding the ship back into the water. Just as he finished, the volcano shifted and seemed to start bending in half, one of the halves rising as if it was part of a hinge.

And the rising part was where he saw the two creatures run when he told them to. Spyro took to the air again to locate the creatures and he found them just barely climbing to the 'top' of the volcano's upper half. They then began running further up towards...a giant, reptilian head?

The purple dragon almost forgot to flap his wings for a moment due to the initial shock of seeing the head and then realising that the volcano was a part of a creature's body. He almost missed seeing the two creatures sliding down the front side of the giant creature's face, forcing him to attempt to double time in flight to try to catch them.

Thankfully, the armored male saw Spyro coming, and fired what looked to be a grappling hook from a device on his left arm. Without needing to ask, the purple dragon caught the hook and rope, allowing the male to swing over and catch the female before she was out of reach. With the two secure, he began flying towards where his camp was located.

Amazingly enough, the volcano creature had begun making landfall a relatively short distance away from where his camp was situated. He got to just above his camp and lowered himself and his new guests down to the ground, all while looking at where the volcano creature was making landfall and seemingly beginning to carve into the land as it walked.

As soon as they landed, the female moved into the camp and began rummaging around Spyro's stuff. "It seems the Commission had a camp here and forgot to take it down, and someone moved in," she commented as she pulled one of his makeshift, leather shirts.

"That someone would be me," Spyro said, taking the shirt from her and putting it on. "And I would appreciate it if you didn't poke through my stuff."

The female blushed a bit before her excitement shifted from the camp to Spyro himself. "Oh, what kind of Wyvern are you? And you talk? This is amazing!" She began rambling out as she did an excited dance.

As she kept rambling and dancing, Spyro turned to the male, who seemed to have a more calm approach to meeting the dragon. "Is she always like this?" Spyro asked the male.

"It's too early for me to say," the male responded. "I just met her, and with what just happened, we might as well be paired up with her for the rest of my service in the Research Commission."

"What's the Research Commission?" Spyro asked.

The female stopped dancing when she heard that question. "You...don't know about the commission?" She asked, looking fairly confused. "It's pretty much the biggest thing in the New World. Been around for about forty years now!"

"And I've been here for just a month," Spyro said in a deadpan manner. "Not that you would know, but now you do."

"A month?" The male asked in curiosity. "That either means you're very young for a Wyvern or you arrived here from somewhere about a month ago."

"The latter," Spyro answered, as he moved to the fire pit and lit it up. "And I'm not a Wyvern, I'm a Dragon."

"An Elder Dragon!?" The female asked excitedly.

"...did you just call me 'old'?" Spyro asked, acting insulted.

The female gave a squeak and hid behind the male while Spyro grabbed some meat and fish from the 'cold storage' he made. Spyro then chuckled and carefully skewered the items on a spit and began turning them over the fire.

"Relax, I was messing with you," he told her. "How about we exchange stories over some food?"

"And names," the male said, confidently. "I think it would be impolite to exchange stories when we have no names for us to refer to each other with."

Spyro chuckled again as he checked the food. "I'll start then. Name's Spyro."

"Crimson," the male responded.

"And I'm Emily," the female said from behind the male.

Spyro nodded towards them and moved his eyes back to the cooking food and began to tell his story.

So far, my story is going well.

Spyro and Monster Hunter belong to their respective companies.
