Tifa sat at the bar a glass in one hand as Vincent and Biggs read the note Jessie had left her while she had been sleeping the night before please don't hate me, I promise I'll explain everything when I see you again. Before coming to the bar with the note Tifa had gone to the station looking for her but was unsuccessful, she couldn't understand what had happened. Had she done something? What had Jessie meant when she said don't hate me?

Tifa drank from her glass the whiskey lightly burning her throat as the questions whirled around her head. She didn't notice Vincent leave as she poured herself another glass but felt Biggs warm hand on her shoulder.

"She'll be back" he said softly but she barely heard him, she just wanted to try make sense of it all but how could she with no explanation to cling to.

Jessie began emptying the clothes out of her bag placing them into the chest of drawers in her shared room, her feelings where still mixed as she closed the top drawer returning to her bag to finish unpacking.

She hated how she had left the note wishing should could have waited until morning explaining everything properly to the others but it was useless, she had been told they would collect her that night so she waited for Tifa to be asleep before slipping out. She had packed her bag and hid it nearby so she wouldn't wake her girlfriend but now she wondered how she was doing.

As she sat down her thoughts still on Tifa and the others the door slowly swung open as a tall blonde walked in carrying her bag, she smiled sweetly as she spotted Jessie extending her hand in a welcoming manner.

"My name's Elena, its pleasure to meet you" The blonde said her voice soft and calming, Jessie slowly shook her hand before finishing her unpacking.

"My name's Jessie but I wouldn't bother trying to get to know me, I'm hoping I won't be here long" Jessie said trying not to sound rude.

"Oh? Well I guess that's one less piece of competition for me then" Elena smirked cruelly as she looked at Jessie "Although it would be a shame if you dropped out, I'd find it more fun to crush you". Jessie looked up and smirked at Elena before standing up walking to her, leaning in slowly whispering in her ear.

"You're welcome to try" Jessie pulled back walking back to her bed placing her bag under it as she went off to find the cafeteria she had passed earlier.

Three days had passed since Jessie left, Tifa was working at the bar trying to keep herself busy. She was use to going home to an empty house at times when Jessie and the others had gone on jobs but this time felt different, Jessie always walked through the door at the end of it wearing a different outfit than she left in having cleaned up at Bigg's house.

While wiping down the bar a girl in a strange outfit came up to the bar placing a battered brown bag on a nearby bar stool before occupying the one next to it, Tifa put on her smile as she wondered over to the girl getting a better look at her.

"What can I get for you?" She asked politely, the girl wore a white poncho and hat with what appeared to be a red pom pom. She looked up as Tifa spoke a large grin playing on her lips, her dark brown eyes locked on the barmaids face.

"A real smile wouldn't hurt" the girl commented "However I'll take a lemonade, three ice cubes will do thank you". Tifa nodded before turning away dropping her fake smile unsure how this girl had seen through it so easily, she scooped the ice cubes into a tall glass before filling it with lemonade placing in front of the girl.

"That'll be five gil please?" Tifa asked extending her hand for the money. The girl looked as she rummaged through her bag for her purse pulling out a piece of card before finally finding it handing Tifa the money. Tifa slowly lifted the card off the bar as she placed the money in the till behind her she read it Yuffie Kisaragi, finder of lost things and people.

Tifa's heart skipped a beat as she reread the card before turning back to the girl a genuine smile on her lips this time, perhaps this girl was an answer to her current predicament.

AN: Well there we have chapter two and things are heating up it seems, Jessie has met a rival, Tifa has a private investigator. I can only imagine how it will all go when she finds out but I guess everyone will have to wait and see.
