Nen, a power concept Meruem was quite familiar with. Nen allowed users to come up with some of the most fascinating and powerful abilities capable of remarkable feats. Despite knowing this, Meruem himself had never quite truly grasped a Nen ability for himself. He pondered briefly about what kind of Nen user he was. He remembered there were 6 categories when it came to Nen and there were multiple ways of unlocking or finding out.
Neferpitou was the one who introduced him to it. She explained that he would find out by radiating nen into a cup of water with a leaf afloat above it. Meruem being bored at the time gave it a try. He placed his hands on either side and focused his nen.
The leaf was dried up instantly.
Neferpitou told him that he was a Specialist, a Nen class considered to be the best. Meruem didn't give it much thought at that moment but he was somewhat pleased to know that he had the most dangerous class.
His battle with Netero taught him many things, about Nen, about humans, about evolution. Nen can be manifested into various forms and could even prove to be fatal. Meruem noted that Nen users should never be underestimated if there were more like that old man. Humans were far more despicable than Meruem had figured, he unhesitantly assumed that Chimera Ants were to be the most malicious species to ever exist.
Meruem, The King, was very wrong.
Netero represented the human race when he fought, carrying their strength, ideals, and hope. Yet underneath all that, Netero represented the darkness of humanity. The truth about all the horrible actions humans were capable of, some that frightened The King. The bomb Netero placed within himself was a man-made object, it made Meruem wonder what could drive humans to create such a weapon in the first place. No good would come out of a weapon of destruction like that, it would only bring dread.
Meruem was a fool to think Chimera Ants have surpassed humans in such a short amount of time. Humans had thousands upon thousands of years in terms of development and evolution. They always had more room for growth and Netero showed him by using one of humanity's most beautiful and hideous weapons.
There was another question that lingered in Meruem's mind, how did he come back to life? He assumed his body had survived somehow but that couldn't have been the case. Meruem was certain he was going to die at that moment and although he had been wrong many times now, he knew his death when it approached him.
He turned his head back to Komugi, trying to piece together if maybe by some chance she was able to save him.
The thought was laughable, Komugi was so frail and weak that the very thought about her reviving him should've been insulting. Yet it wasn't that way to him at all, he genuinely considered it to be possible for Komugi to resurrect him.
He thought back to their games, how she would suddenly glow up at moments where her moves were beyond even his knowledge. Meruem never paid much attention to it since he would be experiencing the shock of her moves and calculate his own. He thought hard to remember and compared the feel of Nen. He couldn't check now since she was deceased so he only relied on his still problematic memory.
He thought about things she said, a slip-up or two concerning the topic of Nen. He stumbled upon a memory where she once mentioned that she had devoted everything to Gungi. Everything ranging from her free time to her thoughts to her strength. If this was indeed the case then that would have to mean her Nen ability wouldn't be able to bring people back to life or cure sickness. It would mean her Nen ability would've had to have revolved around Gungi and that could've also explained why he had never beaten her.
Two theories both debunked. Meruem was stumped, and he hated it when he didn't know. It made him feel less of an intellectual and despised when things were left unanswered. He would have to consider a third and very unlikely option.
A third party had revived him.
Now with this, there is guaranteed to be a chance though it is very slim. It would've meant that a human would have had to have wandered to where he was and purposely healed him. It would also mean that they were aware of him and his intentions. There is a wide range of possibilities, from a possible survivor of the Chimera Ants forcing a human to revive him, or some sicko agreeing with him.
Those thoughts were cast aside very quickly since Meruem was certain that those kinds of people would have likely stayed to see him come back to life.
Meruem activated his Nen, he would wonder about that some other time. Right now he would need to get his limbs in working condition again before he heads out and leaves the palace for good. Meruem stretched all his limbs, from his toes to his tail to his shoulders. Meruem remembered something when he activated his Nen, something about his possible Nen ability.
Meruem remembered during his first moments of being alive that he was unable to grow wings. Yet when he absorbed Menthruthruyoupi's Nen he instinctively grew wings to return to the palace. Meruem concentrated as he did at that time and tried to sprout wings from his back shoulder muscles.
Sure enough, they appeared.
Meruem remembered another thing when he thought about absorbing his Royal Guard's Nen.
The taste.
The oh so sinfully delicious taste of Nen.
Meruem was the only one capable of actually receiving strength from absorbing other's Nen. It made him physically stronger and increased his Nen capabilities. Meruem wondered…
"I suppose I should be heading off then," I said as I stood up. I slowly made one last glance at Komugi resting on the throne.
"Rest peacefully Komugi," I said before I began to take flight. I flew at a blinding speed and dared not to turn back to the palace. I got all my answers from the palace aside from one bothersome question. Right now I would focus on myself and my Nen. Perhaps there would be humans who had a wider knowledge of Nen. I stopped suddenly. I landed gracefully on the dirt and looked at my hands.
'They'll only panic at my appearance' I thought. I would have to be careful and come up with some sort of plan before I came into contact with humans. They most likely know about the existence of Chimera Ants at this point and wouldn't hesitate to panic. I didn't need for them to panic, I needed answers.
Wow, I didn't think this story would get any recognition, I am honored for that. I'm starting to get an idea as to what I'll lead this story to and I hope you guys enjoy the process. All grammar mistakes belong to me and goodbye.
