Cali-Tokyo, or what was once Cali-Tokyo, could be barely made out as a pile of rubble, which had made its way much further from the coast of California than it was before. It had somehow combined with other landmasses, too. There was a massive desert, for one, and even a lush forest area, one which was brimming with life. The nuke that had been detonated a year ago really left a mark on the place, but there were people working on getting it clean from the radiation for quite some time. In a hazmat suit, Dana stood in atop what was once the dome that all fourteen contestants of Mega Mechas lived in. She had some sort of device in her hand, looking like a radar. She pulled the trigger on it, almost as if she was scanning the air, and watched the screen. Within a minute, the word "safe" appeared on it, bringing a smile to her face. She pulled off the head of her hazmat suit, revealing that her hair wasn't in the ponytail that it was last season, but it was now let down, going just past her ears. She grabbed a pair of goggles from one of her suit's pockets, putting them on and bearing some resemblance to a pilot.
"Hey, viewers!" she greeted with a happy tone, "I'm Dana Starshine, host of the show, Total Drama: Mega Mechas. You may remember me being a crappy host back then, but things are gonna be way different now!"
She ran off of the rubble of the dome, slowly making her way to a, somehow, nice looking hotel. It was as if it was built sometime after the explosion occurred, as it was both completely stable, and untouched. She opened the doors to it, slipping the rest of her suit off to reveal an intense outfit. She had a dark green overcoat, one which was buttoned all the way up, black jeans, and tan boots that went up past her ankles. With the goggles on, she really did look more threatening. She was also a bit taller than before.
"See, back then, I was a baby! Yep, I started hosting at the age of twelve, and I was barely thirteen when we finished the whole thing up! There was a lot of...strange events that happened in there, one's that a thirteen year old should never have to deal with. But now? Now, I'm fourteen! That's right, the big one-four! I'm over the stupid mechs, too. Talk about lame, am I right? What I'm really interested in now is...wastelands! That's right! Post-Apocalyptical season time, aw yeah! My former co-host, Maggie, has been working a team to the bone to get this island safe for us to reside on, and she's done an amazing job at it!"
"Aw, that's so sweet of you to say!" a giggly voice choraled from off to the side.
"Unfortunately, she can't remain as my co-host, due to a promise I made...but, I will not be alone! I've found a new co-host to help me get things done, and we're gonna meet him today! But not only will he be arriving on this island, oh no. We'll be greeting the thirteen contestants from the last season once again...and nine newbies!"
The girl clapped her hands together, excited as she possibly could be about the season that was soon to ensue.
"That's right! Twenty-two contestants! A new co-host! A whole lotta uncharted territory! And, most of all, a five million dollar grand prize for the winner of this season! What's gonna happen to kickstart this exciting season? Find out, right now, on the first ever episode of Total Drama: Scrap Island!"
The camera suddenly flew into the sky, being struck by a massive chunk of debris and knocking it back to the ground, only to be picked up by a cute, blue and silver striped robot with one wheel that it used to move.
"Dear mom and dad, I'm doing fine," the robot pointed the camera at Theodore at a cafeteria table, pounding down energy drinks like a champ, his eyes twitching from the caffeine while Larida looked concerned for his health.
"You guys are on my mind," at a nearby table, Ronnie was arm wrestling Mitchell, winning easily and slamming him straight through the table, causing Celeste to run over and start screaming at the powerhouse.
"You asked me what I wanted to be and I think the answer's plain to see," the robot wheeled its way out of the cafeteria, showing a junkyard with Vernon scribbling something down in silence, until Blaster popped out of one of the garbage piles, scaring him and making his papers fly off into the sky.
"I wanna be famous!" Vernon ran after his papers, eventually passing by Margaret and Daniel as they were making out while surrounded by four intense looking mafia thugs, one who spotted the camera and chased after it.
"I wanna live close to the sun," the robot wheeled away from the mafia goon, passing by Zane and Bunny, the latter who was bugging the boy by holding a mic up to his face, which he tried to shove away.
"So pack your bags, cause I've already won," Fridge carried Caleb on his shoulders across from Aaron, who had Dana on his own shoulders, the two up top slapping at each other as the robot passed by.
"Everything to prove, nothing in my way, I'll get there one day," as the robot continued to roll around, it finally made its way out of the junkyard and to the remnants of Cali-Tokyo, where Buck was attempting to profess his love to Yves, who was all flustered by the gesture.
"I wanna be famous!" nearby, atop a pile of rubble, Brittany was making fun of Valerie, who let out a sigh and pushed her off the pile and onto the ground.
"Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na," near the pile, there was some barrels of toxic waste, which inspired Mitzy, who scribbled something down on a blank sheet while Alice was absolutely appalled by the sight.
"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!" CJ was being chased by a massive and terrifying robot with six legs and two clawed arms, which then noticed the robot with the camera and chased after it, causing it to drop the camera.
"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!" the camera feed cut to the aftermath stage, showing an Calvin trying to kiss Max, who, out of embarrassment, belched right in his face.
The two were soon shoved aside by Capone, who rolled his eyes at them, while Sunny, next to him, waved happily to the camera with a huge smile on her face. Maggie popped up between the two of them, an acoustic guitar around her back, hugging them both tightly and snickering while the camera panned out to show the whole cast sitting in the risers, with the little robot sitting next to Caleb, and Franchesco standing off to the side with a glare fixed on Maggie.
Dana eventually found herself standing at the end of a dock, which was oddly attached to some sort of junkyard. Maggie stood by here, wearing her own new outfit as well. She had lost the science-y look that she had before, trading it for something a little more comfortable looking. She wore a black shirt, one which had no sleeves, but covered her neck like the typical turtleneck sweater that she wore. Below that, she wore a pair of tan khakis with no belt. Her shoes were a light blue in color, with a slight elevation to them. She also ditched her glasses, trading them for a strange visor, one that still displayed the emoji eyes that she was known for. A boat approached them, one that was a decent enough size. As it docked, it let down a ramp, allowing whoever was inside to step out. The first to exit the boat was Larida, wearing a whole new outfit as well. She had a white sweater on, one which had a magenta stripe going around her at the chest area, black exercise pants, and a pair of sneakers that were a mix of white and a darker magenta color than the stripe. She was joined by annoyed Caleb, who was wearing a black and white striped tee, with a black and white checkered scarf around his neck. He had a long-sleeved black shirt underneath the tee, as well as black shorts, black and white shoes, and knee-high white socks.
"Larida!" Dana greeted the eldest of the contestants happily, "So glad to see you again! Did the year treat you well?"
"Oh, why it was just wonderful!" Larida replied, "My little Maxie thought it was awesome that I was a part of that whole craziness in the end there! Speaking of crazy...I see Maggie is here..."
"Don't worry about me, Big L!" Maggie snickered, "I'm simply here to greet you guys and meet two of my coworkers. I'm not going to be in the way, I promise."
"And look," Dana's tone shifted to a mocking one as she looked down at Caleb. "It's the little chess baby!"
"Shut the hell up!" Caleb snapped at her, "I'm not a fu##ing baby, bitch!"
"Aw, does da widdle baby need a nappy nap?"
"You're a shit-for-brains!"
"Hey, Caleb!" Larida slapped him on the back of the head, "Enough with the shouting and the swearing!"
"Shut up, old bag!"
"I see he's just the same as he was last season," Dana mentioned, rolling her eyes, "Let's get some of the other veterans out here!"
Caleb and Larida walked to the end of the dock, with Buck and Yves now exiting the boat. Buck more or less looked the same as he did before, with the exception of a few wardrobe changes. He wore his jeans with a belt that wasn't fully done up, and he had on a blue jacket that was unbuttoned, replacing the red flannel that he wore before. He still had his oil-stained white shirt on underneath, maintaining his style. The key difference, however, was some incredibly dark bags under his eyes, indicating that he hadn't been able to sleep well for a while. Maggie knew that feeling all too well. Yves held his hand tightly, glaring as she saw Maggie's emoji eyes fixed on her in their own glare. The girl's outfit had some slight changes as well, with a new white jacket over her black shirt, and blue skinny jeans.
"Oh...wonderful," Yves mumbled, "She's here."
"I am indeed!" Maggie replied, glaring even more intensely, "But not for long. I'll leave your pathetic self be soon enough, don't worry."
"Hey, y'all," Buck interrupted, "I'm kinda exhausted right now...can we skip on all the arguin' and such?"
"I agree," Dana added, "Maggie, don't harass anybody. We're trying to make things nice and easy on the first day."
"Fine, fine," Maggie sighed, "I'll stop."
"Now say you're sorry."
"What!? I don't wanna do that!"
"Maggie!"
"Fine! Sooooorry! Yeesh!"
Yves smirked and nodded at Dana, dragging Buck to the end of the dock, where Caleb and Larida were waiting. The next two to come off of the boat were Margaret and Daniel, both with a new sort of style that was suggested to them by the other. Daniel had on a cyan button down tee, which was left unbuttoned and on top of a white tee shirt. He also had a gold chain added to his ensemble, with a pair of black shorts to complete it. Margaret, on the other hand, still looked like a mobster, yet Daniel had suggested a color mix-up to her. She wore a brown fedora, one which had a red band around it, a red vest buttoned down over a white dress shirt with a red tie to match, and maroon dress pants held up by an expensive looking leather belt. They approached the hosts, both of them immediately glaring at Maggie.
"Ugh, what gives Dana?" Margaret snapped, "You said she wasn't co-hosting this season."
"I did say that, yes," Dana started, "But I didn't say I would get rid of her completely. My actual co-host will be arriving shortly after the rest of you guys get here, I'm sure you'll like him. Love the outfit, by the way. You're really embracing a barbershop quartet kinda look."
"Well, the boys need a cover for when they're- I mean, nothing!"
"Uh...okay...? And Daniel, nice to see you! I see Margaret's got you dressing...a little nicer."
"Eh, she likes to pick outfits for me," he shrugged as he spoke, "Can't really complain about it."
"Siiiiiiiiiimp," Maggie whispered, getting a more intense glare from both of them.
"Right, well, you can join the other four down at the end of the dock, yeah?" Dana suggested to the two.
They both maintained their glare towards Maggie as they passed her by and stood nearby the other's that had arrived. Along came Brittany and Theodore, neither of them wanting to be with the other, but somehow ending up stuck together regardless. Theodore was much different than before, no longer even having his signature manbun. His hair was now short, with a spikiness to it, and a light green in color. He wore a green tee over a white long sleeve shirt, with the words "#WorstToFirst" showing on the green shirt, as well as on a white headband that he was wearing. He also had a white scarf on, as well as a pair of baggy blue sweatpants. Brittany, on the other hand, had let her hair down from the ponytail that she had before, showing that it went just past her shoulders. She wore a white jacket over a pink blouse, with dark magenta pants to complete the ensemble. The two approached their hosts, but rather than paying any attention to Maggie, they simply glared at each other.
"Why, hello Theo-" Dana was quickly interrupted by some bickering between the two.
"You know, you don't have to be such a slob," Brittany griped at him, "You could've at least cleaned up the mess of cans you made on the ship."
"I did!" he replied, clearly as annoyed as she was, "But that thing was too rocky! They all flew out of the recycling bin."
"That's such a lazy excuse. Admit that you're just a lazy slob."
"I most certainly am not! And if you wanna point out annoying things that we did on the boat, how about we mention that you hogged the massage chair the whole time?"
"So? It's not like any of you guys deserved it. I needed it to relax to make sure I didn't vomit from that stupid boat."
"Ahem!" Dana cleared her throat loudly, "Why don't you two see yourselves to the end of the dock? We don't need to hear all the arguing this early."
"Fine by me," the two said in unison, continuing to glare at each other as they walked towards the end of the dock. "Hey, stop copying me! I said stop! Ugh! You're annoying!"
As the two early losers of the last season passed on by, Calvin and Blaster came on down to the dock. The two looked pretty much the same as they did before, with Calvin having grown a slight soul patch. He also had a special type of ear piece on, one that he was currently speaking into, while Blaster had something similar going on.
"Testing, testing!" Calvin spoke, "Do you read, Agent Coil?"
"I read you loud and clear, over!" she replied, giddily.
"You don't have to say over, Agent."
"Got it, over."
"I said you don't have to say over."
"What don't I have to say?"
"Ugh!"
"Welcome back you two!" Dana greeted the two, both her and Maggie snickering as they went on their tangent, "Nice to see both of you made it to the island okay."
"I may be okay on the outside, but there's a huge mission that-...well, I should probably keep that a secret for now."
"Ooooooo a mission?" Maggie giggled, "Peh, I wonder what that may be?"
"We're looking for-" Blaster was quickly cut off by Calvin.
"Nothing! We're looking for nothing, right, Agent Coil?"
"Huh? But we're looking for J-"
"Shhhhhh!"
Annoyed, Calvin quickly grabbed the girl, dragging her to the end of the dock to meet the others. The next pair to come off of the boat was none other than Celeste and Mitchell, both with a completely new ensemble to them. Mitchell himself was wearing a black hoodie, one with a red hood, red strings, and red lining on the pockets, as well as a pair of black sweatpants. Celeste looked like she was wearing an outfit inspired by his, her tee shirt being black and red stripes, and a black hat on her head with Mitch's name being scrawled across it in red lettering. She also wore a white skirt that stopped right before her knees, but what was the most different about her was a slight red tint to her usually grey eyes.
"Well, if it isn't the horrific pair we all know and love," Dana greeted the two, "How've you guys been?"
"Well, I've been writing a lot since-" Mitchell tried to speak, but Celeste quickly spoke over him.
"Mitchy is almost finished with a new book!" she chimed happily, "I can't tell you what happens in it, but it's super cool!"
"I could've said that myself..."
"Oh, I'm sorry! I wanted to be helpful!"
"How adorable," Maggie mocked them, earning an annoyed glance from Celeste.
"You! I had to go to therapy for four months because of you!"
"Aw, boohoo."
"You're such a-"
"Alright!" Dana interrupted, "Please, go join the others and we can continue this later."
Celeste grumbled to herself, grabbing Mitchell by the arm and quickly dragging him to the end of the dock, not letting him move himself. Finally, Valerie came off of the boat, trying her best to keep her distance from the others. Her hair was more stylish, with her bangs now waved over her left eye. She wore a mostly black ensemble, with her jacket having a white stripe going along both of the arms, and her pants having the same stripe going along the legs. It could be seen that she had earbuds in, with the wire from them reaching sown into her jacket's left pocket. She slowly approached the hosts, who were looking at her in astonishment.
"Well, Valerie," Dana started, "You really changed a lot over the past two years, haven't you?"
"I guess so," she mumbled, "Is that a bad thing? Is that not allowed?"
"Huh? Why wouldn't it be allowed?"
"I was just following the instructions in the magazine..."
"Oh boy," Maggie rolled her eyes, "Beauty magazines mean jack nothing."
"Oh...well..."
"Alright, you wanna go see your old teammates?" Dana asked the sad girl.
"I guess so..."
She slowly passed them by, joining the group and completely reassembling the original members of the cast. Once she had left the boat, it took its ramp back up, pulling away from the dock and voyaging away from the island. In its place, a much smaller boat arrive, one with only four passengers on it. The first two got off together both excited as could possibly be to see the island. The first was a short girl, one with long brown hair that had a blonde streak in it. Her eyes were a bright yellow color that could captivate an audience with ease, and her skin was fair, but not pale to the extent of Valerie's. She wore a yellow vest, one which was buttoned down over a long-sleeved shirt, which was white with yellow stripes on the arms. She had on a yellow skirt that was being held up by a simple leather belt, with a pair of white shorts on underneath it. Her boots went up about half the length of her calves, and they were yellow in color with a white stripe going down the center. She also had a necklace on, one which had a moon attached to it that dangled in front of her, and a wearable microphone. The man next to her, who was a lot taller than her, wasn't as tan as she was, and he had black spiky hair which had some red and orange streaks going through it, causing it to resemble a fiery blaze. His eyes were a fiery orange color, though it was hard to tell with his dark sunglasses on. He wore a red leather jacket, which was left unzipped, and had many flags around his left sleeve, and a white tee underneath it, with the neck just low enough to expose a tattoo that resembled a fire of some sort. The number "69" was on his back, almost as if he was wearing a sports jacket. He also wore a pair of black pants with red boots. The two walked up to Dana, the girl holding out her hand to shake it.
"Why, hello!" she greeted the host, "I'm Sunny, your new co-host!"
"Uh...huh?" Dana shook her hand hesitantly, keeping a confused look on her face.
"And this is my bodyguard, Franchesco!"
"'Sup?" the tall man nodded his head, bearing a smile that didn't fit with his intense exterior.
"I'm not sure why you had us in the same boat as those other two people, but I don't mind! When do I get to start my hostly duties?"
"Maggie," Dana called over to her partner, who had a grin on her own face, "What is she-"
"Not so fast!" a boy from the boat shouted to announce his present, taking a step onto the dock.
The boy was in between the heights of the two that were already on the dock, and he was well tanned. His hair and eyes were dark brown in color, with his hair swept back neatly. He was toned, looking as if he definitely played sports in high school, and he had an outfit to match that. He wore black sweatpants, and a blue exercise tee, which had a darker blue stripe on the bottom of it. He also had a band on his arm, which had his phone in it. It was perfect for if he wanted to listen to music while exercising. He wore brand name sneakers, which were black with white stripes. All in all, the boy looked like he was all too into the sports game.
"Hey, hey!" he looked up to Franchesco, "Your hair looks cool! Except I'm actually lying and you look stupid! Damn, I got you good there! Step aside, wingnut."
"Oh, boy," Franchesco rolled his eyes, backing up and allowing him to pass through, "I get the feeling that I'm not gonna like this guy."
"Looks like Little Miss Sunshine here thinks she's the co-host! Ha! Ha I say! I'm Capone, and I'm your new co-host! Capeesh?"
"Uh," Dana continued to look over to Maggie for assistance, "Who are these people?"
"Excuse me, Mr. Boasts A Lot!" Sunny poked him in the chest with her pointer finger, "I am the co-host, so why don't you just back off?"
"Oh, okay, okay! I'll back down, miss...sike! I won't back down, you just got punked!"
"I'm sorry," Dana interrupted the two as they bickered among themselves, "But there seems to have been a misunderstanding. My new co-host is that boy in the boat still."
"Huh!?" the two turned back, looking over at the boat to see its last passenger taking a shaky step off.
He was a tall boy, just a little taller than Franchesco, but he couldn't compare to him in any other way. He was phenomenally scrawny for his height, with his posture matching his shrimpy figure. He shook as he stood in place, looking away from the group in front of him nervously. He was pale, as if he had seen a ghost, but it was just his regular look. He had blonde hair, which was combed back and reached the middle of his neck, and two different colored eyes, the one of the left being blue, while the one on the right was red. His outfit looked pretty relaxing, but it didn't look like it would be very comfortable in the heat. He wore a black hoodie, orange jeans, black sneakers, and an orange beanie. He stood in his own spot, not daring to come any closer.
"Aaron!" Dana greeted the boy, "It's nice to finally meet you!"
"Ah, y-y-yes," he replied meekly in a thick, German accent, "I'm v-v-very excited to help vith ze show."
"Are you kidding me!?" Capone shouted, slamming his foot on the dock, "You're choosing a joker like that as your co-host!? Unbelievable! You've got the perfect specimen right here, and you're just turning me away!"
"And if he's your co-host," Sunny butted in, "Why are we here? I got an email saying that I was accepted for the part."
"That's where I come in!" Maggie came forward, clasping her hands together, "You see, fellas...you are gonna be co-hosts...of sorts! You'll be joining me in a fan favorite segment of the show, one which will get four whole episodes! I'm sure you've heard of the aftermath, yes?"
"Huh!?" Capone continued to shout, "But that's so lame! I was supposed to be the big star for this bullshit!"
"It's either you join me, or you swim back home."
Suddenly, Capone lost that cool expression about him, and started to mumble to himself while Sunny snickered at him, patting him on the back as she did so.
"That's too good," she said, "I'll gladly join your aftermath show, Miss...uh..."
"Maggie," Maggie replied with a grin, "It's Maggie. Now, come along with me, you three! We've gotta head to our top secret lair!"
"Alright," Franchesco shrugged, leaning over to whisper to Sunny, "I'll be here this whole time, so don't worry about that jackass or the crazy lady, k?"
"Oh, puhlease," Sunny laughed it off, "I'm not worried about a thing!"
Meanwhile, Maggie quickly got down on her knees, holding Dana by the shoulders and looking her in the eyes.
"I'm not gonna be too far from the island, okay?" the crazy girl tried to comfort her dear friend, "You need me, you call me and I'll be right back to help. Aaron's gonna be a good guy to stick around, even though he's kind of a wimp. You'll have a great time with him."
"Okay," Dana mumbled, clearly upset to see that Maggie was leaving the island already. "I'm gonna miss you..."
"I'm gonna miss you, too. Oh, and if anyone tries to do anything crazy like Jay did before, you can call Thomas. He'll take care of everything."
"But I don't want to get anyone killed!"
"Then tell him that. Still, he's the best protection that you could ask for."
"I'm not sure an assassin is interchangeable for a bodyguard..."
"It's just an offer. He's still got about half a year before he has to compete again, so he isn't busy right now. I gotta go now. Love ya, Dana."
Maggie hugged the girl tightly before getting up and skipping along to the boat, where Sunny, Capone, and Franchesco all followed her. After they got in, it started off, taking the four of them away from the island while Maggie waved goodbye to the host. Dana let out a sigh, looking over at Aaron and forcing a confident smile on her face.
"Well, Aaron!" she went on, losing her sad tone from before, "I'm Dana, though I know you knew that already. Let's make this partnership a fun one, eh?"
"J-j-ja!" he muttered, still having a hard time talking without stuttering, "Z-z-zis vill be very cool!"
"I agree!" the girl turned to face the thirteen contestants that she knew already, "Alright, everyone! I know I said it before, but I'll say it again! We've got a brand new co-host! His name is Aaron, and I expect him to be treated with respect. He's nothing like Maggie, I can assure you of that."
"H-h-hello," he waved weakly, "How is everyone?"
"That pushover is one of our hosts?" Margaret scoffed, "Come on, Dana, really?"
"Pushover?"
"Hey!" Dana snapped, "Don't be rude to him. I put a little something in the new contracts that says if you make Aaron cry, you lose the game automatically!"
"What!?" Brittany glared at Dana, "But you said no more unfair eliminations!"
"Do you think it's fair to bully a guy as nice as this? No? Didn't think so. Therefore, not an unfair elimination."
"Alright, whatever," Daniel rolled his eyes, "We'll deal with it."
"Good. Anyways...we've still got nine more guests on their way here, so I hope you're all ready to meet the other competitors of the season."
"Other competitors?" Yves asked, confused as to what she meant. "It's not just gonna be us?"
"Nope. We've decided that, while working with a small cast can be fun, a larger cast really amps up the stakes and the drama. And with a prize of five million dollars, well, it shouldn't only be a one in thirteen chance of getting it. That's right! It's gonna be a one in twenty-two chance this season!"
As Dana explained the newbies, another decent-sized boat arrived on the dock, bringing about some interest from the contestants that were already on the island. The thirteen of them stared at it eagerly as its ramp descended onto the dock to allow its passengers out. Then, the first of them stepped forward. He was massive, to say the least, easily passing a height of seven feet. Upon grabbing the wall of the boat above him to duck down, he snapped part of it right off into his hand, causing him to stare at it with his startled brown eyes. He had white skin with a black buzz cut, and his figure resembled that of a strong man that you would see on television. He wore a blue tank top that really added the oomph to his muscular form, black and blue shorts that were perfect for this type of weather, and red and white sneakers that looked like they could burst from the pressure. He stepped forward onto the dock, each step causing it to quake beneath him. Caleb felt a grin crawling onto his own face as the boy approached the host, a plan coming up in his head.
"Uh, I'm sorry," the giant started to speak in a booming voice, "This kinda...came off."
He held the piece of the ship out to Dana, who giggled at the sight.
"That's alright, Frederick...or...you like being called Fridge, right?" the host asked, taking the piece from him and tossing it into the junkyard behind her.
"Har har har, yes! All of my friends call me Fridge because I'm built like a fridge!"
"I can see that. Well, Fridge, why don't you go meet the other contestants, the ones from last season."
"Okay! Hello, little friends!"
Fridge made his way over to the others, passing right by Dana and Aaron, still quaking the ground with each step he took. Caleb found himself laughing a maniacal laugh as he walked right up to the boy, holding his hand out for him to shake it.
"Hello, 'Fridge!'" the normally obnoxious boy spoke rather pleasantly to the giant before him. "My name's Caleb! It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance!"
"Oh, a football!"
"Huh?"
Fridge suddenly picked the boy up, launching him into a somewhat distant pile of trash and getting him stuck in it really good, causing most of the others in the group to laugh, all except Brittany.
"Caleb!" she gasped, rushing over to pull him out of the trash, "Are you okay?"
"Just peachy," the boy rolled his eyes, spitting out some garbage that got in his mouth, "But I need Mr. Muscles to realize that I'm not a football. He could prove...beneficial to us."
"Then I'll try talking to him. After all, who doesn't like to listen to a pretty girl?"
As the two made their way back to the others, where Fridge was already getting along with everyone, the next contestant made her way off of the boat. She was much shorter than Fridge, though that didn't come as much of a shock to anybody, considering how big the boy was. Her skin wasn't incredibly pale, or incredibly tan, but she looked like she got outside just enough. Her eyes were a deep blue color, matching her ginger hair well, her hair being styled in an asymmetrical bob, which was swept to the right. She was wearing a light blue, collared shirt, which she had tied up, exposing her stomach, knee-length capris of a cream color, and brown sandals, which were appropriate for the summer weather. She was incredibly curvaceous in the hips, and she had a large gut, which she didn't bother to hide. She hopped onto the dock with gusto, running up to Aaron and forcing him to shake her hand.
"Wassup!?" she shouted in his face, causing him to tremble in fear. "I'm Max! You're Dana!? That's crazy, I thought you were gonna be a girl!"
"A-a-actually, I'm Aaron...Miss Dana's co-host for ze show," Aaron shakily answered her, causing her to let go of his hand and rush over to Dana and do the same routine.
"Oh, you're tiny! I thought you were like fifty or something! Dana's an old person's name!"
"Uh...okay?" Dana cocked her eyebrows in confusion. "The rest of the cast is over there, Max."
"Sweet!"
The girl rushed over to the others, forcing the handshake upon them like she had done to the hosts.
"Yo, yo, yo, dudes! Man, this is so crazy! I can't believe I actually get to be here!"
"Oh, I like her!" Larida whispered to Buck.
"Yeah...she seems pretty cool," Buck replied, letting out a yawn soon after.
"What's happened to you, Buck? Why are you so...sleepy? I don't remember ever seeing you like this before."
"Well, when ya get in a big fight with a crazy criminal and almost die doing it, it gets a lot harder to fall asleep right."
"Oh...I forgot all about that. I'm sorry."
"It's fine...I just need some sleep."
Out of nowhere, the two heard a massive, echoing belch, turning to see that it had come from Max, who was now laughing obnoxiously.
"Well, that's just me for ya!" she said as she laughed, some of the others rolling their eyes at her.
The next person came from the boat, another girl this time. She was about the same height as Max, though she looked much different in every other aspect. Her skin was slightly tanned, indicating that a lot of her time was spent in the sunlight. Her eyes were brown, as well as her hair, which was done into a ponytail. She wasn't very muscular, but not quite skinny, either. Just utterly average in build. She wore a black tee shirt, blue jeans, and blue shoes, each with a little symbol on them that indicated that they were made without using animal products. She approached Dana and Aaron, looking between the two of them with a scowl.
"Euagh!" she made a strange noise, shocking both of the hosts. "What happened to this place!? Corporate negligence at its finest."
"Huh?" Dana cocked her head, "This island wasn't neglected...it was blown up."
"Blown up!? Missile testing!? Agha! And you two 'hosts' are both scummy corporate leaders, aren't you?"
"Um...well, I do own a company...but we try to take care of the environment well."
"'Try,' pfft! Less try, more do! I can't believe this is where I'm gonna be stuck for the rest of the summer! The horror!"
She ran towards the others, but stopped before getting to close to them, making sure to keep her distance.
"E-e-everyone...zat is Miss Alice," Aaron introduced her in his sheepish voice.
"Woah," Theodore found himself ogling her involuntarily, "Uh...yo, what's good Teddy Bea- I mean, Alice? I'm Teddy!"
"You have hair dye in your hair," she pointed out aggressively, "Many hair dyes are unfairly tested on poor animals. That's horrible!"
"I don't think she likes you," Daniel whispered to his friend.
"She's purdy," Teddy replied, almost as if he had completely ignored what she said to him earlier. "Gonna shave my head later."
"Don't do that, man..."
Alice continued to keep her distance from the others, showing that she wasn't too keen on being here. The next contestant came off the boat, being another boy, this time. He was decently tall, though still not as tall as Fridge was. His skin was a nice caramel tone, being matched well by his black hair and brown eyes. His hair was done in neat cornrows, and he was buff, trumping the muscularity of most of the others, except Fridge of course. He had a football in one hand, which he tossed into the air and caught repeatedly, and he wore a blue, denim jacket, one which he draped over a navy blue tee. He had on black shorts and shoes, as well as a yellow wristband on his left wrist, and a black wristband on his right. He approached the hosts, looking between them over and over again, sighing as Aaron shivered at the sight of him.
"We're taking orders from a wimp and a baby?" he asked in an annoyed tone, "That's some bullshit."
"A baby?" Dana glared at him, "I'm fourteen. If you wanna see a baby, go talk to Caleb."
"Hey!" Caleb piped up, "I heard that, you bitch!"
"Oh...vater calls me a wimp, too," Aaron mumbled.
"Water?" the boy's brow narrowed, trying to figure out what Aaron had said, "You gotta work on that accent, can't understand a damn thing you're saying."
"You know what, Ronald?" Dana interrupted his badgering.
"Ronnie. I'm Ronnie."
"Whatever. If you're gonna pester somebody, how about you pester the other contestants back there?"
"Man, whatever. Stupid little kid telling me what to do."
He continued to grumble as he approached the others, paying close attention to Blaster and grinning at her.
"You won the last season, yeah?"
"Yep!" she replied with cheer, "I'm Bla-"
"Oh, I know who you are. You're gonna go down quickly this season. This competition can only fit one winner in it, and that winner is gonna be me, you got it?"
"Oh...um...okay!"
"Okay? Come on, you don't respond to a challenge like that with just an 'okay.' Show some anger! Puff up your chest! Get mad!"
"I don't wanna get mad, though. I'm just happy to be back here!"
"Bro, what? Where's your competitive spirit? That's no way for a winner to act!"
"Trust me," Calvin spoke up, "You're not gonna get any of that from her."
"Lame. What good's a championship title if you're not gonna honor it and try to keep it?"
"That's just Blaster for you. She could care less, she just wants to have fun while she's here."
Ronnie sighed, bored with the lack of competition, and the next new guest came skating off of the boat on a skateboard, this time being another boy. He was a pretty decent height, being just as tall as Ronnie, but he was pretty average in build. His skin was fair, indicating a slight preference for the outdoors over the indoors, and his eyes were a dull grey color. His hair was light brown in color, being a decent length and quite shaggy, though it was held under a grey beanie with a couple buttons on it here and there. He wore a red, plaid shirt over a white tee, a pair of ripped, black jeans, and some black skate shoes. Upon reaching the hosts, he kicked his board up into his hands, aiming finger guns at the two of them.
"What's good, fella?" he gestured to Aaron before looking over at Dana, "And lady fella?"
"A-a-ah!" Aaron snapped his fingers, knowing who the boy was almost immediately, "You are ze CJ, no?"
"Righteroo, broski! CJ's the name, skating's the game! What were your names again?"
"I'm Dana," Dana introduced herself, "And that's my co-host, Aaron."
"Ah, that's way too long to remember, bro. Imma just call ya A-dog and D-dog, 'kay?"
"Uh...alright? You can go on down and meet the other competitors now."
"Sounds cool, D-dog! What's crackin', peeps?"
The skated his way on over to them, flipping his board into the air and catching it as he got to them, impressing some of the more easily entertained members of the group.
"Woah!" Buck shot up from his tired state, "How'd ya do that?"
"Oh, that? Just something my older brother taught me, haha! Takes a lot of practice to get it right, though."
"Can ya teach me? I'll be as patient as a snail waiting for some sarsaparilla!"
"I don't really know what that is, but sure, homie!"
Yves giggled to herself as her boyfriend and the newbie shared their odd conversation, and the next person waltzed on off of the boat. It was another girl, one who was about the same height as Caleb or Dana. She was of Asian descent, and she had bright rosy cheeks. Her hair was a jet black color, and done into twin buns, those which had been pierced by several pens and pencils of various coloration. Her eyes were black to match her hair, and she was holding a pencil to her lips with a notepad in her other hand. She wore a beige sweater, one that was very clearly too big for her tiny frame. She had on a black, pencil mini skirt, as well as dark, brown boots that also seemed to be too big for her, it was quite confusing how she could even walk in them. Around her neck was a polaroid camera, which looked like it got used well and often. She approached the hosts, glancing up between the two of them every now and then whilst scribbling something down in her notepad.
"Vat are you doing, M-M-Miss Bunny?" Aaron asked nervously.
"Just thinking of some headlines," she replied in a thick accent, "How about, 'Great Beginnings on Scrap Island!' Nah, too cheesy. I'll get a better one."
"Nice to meet you, Bunny," Dana smiled at the girl that was only an inch or so taller than her, "I hope you find the island to your liking."
"It looks like it'll carry some good stories, so I'm sure I will! And I'll be watching everything for the hottest gossip, such is the life of a reporter!"
Quickly, she pulled up her camera, snapping a picture of Aaron and Dana before skipping past them and greeting the group behind them by taking a picture of them as well. Margaret was quick to get annoyed with this, taking a step towards the girl and cracking her knuckles.
"Hey, what's the big idea?" the mob boss asked intensely, "You tryna get your lights knocked out?"
"Ooo, so scary!" Bunny clapped her hands rapidly, "I got a good title for this one! 'Mafia Queen Shuts Out All Coverage,' the newest addition to Golden Gossip!"
"What!? No way, you are not posting a story about me on some dumb blog. I'll beat the snot out of you!"
"Woah, woah!" Blaster interrupted as she and Daniel held the girl back, Bunny grinning at her.
"Aw, looks like we're gonna have to wait on this little fight of ours!" Bunny giggled, stepping away from Margaret, "But it was a pleasure to meet you, Madame Diablo!"
Margaret's face was as red as a tomato as she seethed with rage, Daniel and Blaster still trying to calm her down. Another contestant made their way off of the boat, being another guy. He was tall, and pale, clearly spending more time inside than out. He covered his eyes as the sun beat down on him, those eyes being hazel in color. His hair was dark brown, with the sides shaved shaved down short, while the top was much longer. He put gel in it to slick it back, showing the stylish look that he had going for him. He wore a zip-up black hoodie, one which he left unzipped to show a plain, white tee shirt underneath it, black jeans, and black and white hiking boots. It was no wonder why the heat was getting to him. He approached the hosts, trying to stave off the heat by waving his free hand in front of his face.
"Z-z-zat looks like Zane," Aaron commented, "You are Mister Zane, yes?"
"Yeah," the boy answered quickly, letting out a sigh, "It's a bit warm out today, eh?"
"Well...we're not far from California right now," Dana mumbled, "Maybe you should've worn something...a little lighter?"
"Nah, not my style. I'll just deal with it. I can deal with any little inconvenience easily. I don't know why I'm making such a fuss to begin with. Do I just go over there with that group of people?"
"Ja," Aaron nodded, "Zose are ze ozer competitors..."
"Nice accent, pal. Sounds neat."
The boy passed the co-host by, who was confused to have gotten such a compliment from one of the contestants. He quickly joined the group, placing himself nearby Valerie and nodding to her, noticing that they had a similar style going on.
"How's it going?" he asked, "I like the whole ensemble you got going on."
"Huh?" Valerie looked around in absolute disbelief, "You're talking to me...?"
"Yeah. We're kind twinning, don't you think so?"
"I guess so, yeah...I'm sorry for copying you..."
"What? I never said you were copying me, I just thought it was a funny coincidence."
"Oh...I see..."
"Are you alright? You seem kinda...out of it."
"Why does it matter? Why bother talking to a loser like me, you kind find some more interesting people to your left..."
"You got some major self-confidence issues. I can probably help out with that. What was your name again?"
"Valose-...Valerie..."
"Valerie...hm...I like it. I'm Zane. I'm sure we'll be great friends."
"I doubt it..."
Zane sighed, patting Valerie on the back, much to her surprise, and another contestant came off of the boat. It was another boy, who was just a tad shorter than Zane, and had a skinny build with a decent bit of muscle to him. His hair was mix of a dirty blonde color and dark brown, giving him a unique flair that the other's didn't have about them, and it was short, being very neatly combed. His eyes were blue in color, though he avoided eye contact with everyone who looked at him. He wore a comfortable looking blue jacket, with a black shirt underneath, black pants, and black shoes. All in all, he looked like he was trying to avoid the attention from everyone. He approached Dana and Aaron, though he kept his distance, still choosing to avoid eye contact.
"Hello, Vernon!" Dana greeted him in a cheery demeanor before her eyes quickly turned into a menacing stare, "Say, you aren't a super criminal, are you?"
"What?" he was taken aback, "I'm not a criminal, why would you ask that?"
"No particular reason...you just so happen to have a hobby that a certain someone who we'd rather not name here shared interest in."
"Oh...I see..."
"Y-y-you may join ze ozers," Aaron added, trying to help Dana.
"Okay..."
The boy made his way toward the rest of the group, but like Valerie, he kept his distance from them. Some of them waved to him, which he tried to return, but it just turned into him awkwardly rubbing the back of his head.
"Huh," Mitchell stroked his chin in thought, "He's kinda like you, Celeste."
"Whaddya mean, Mitchy?" she asked, hugging his once broken arm tightly to her chest.
"He's just kinda shy, you know? Maybe we should try to help him out with that."
"Oh! Okay! As long as he doesn't hit on you! Then I'd have to do some pretty bad things to him!"
"...I don't think you're gonna have to worry about that."
As the couple discussed the new arrival, the final newbie made her way off of the boat. She had interesting look about her, and definitely a lot more color to her ensemble than some of the others who just enjoyed dark colors. Her skin was fair, and it was complimented nicely by her blonde hair, that which was done in a ponytail and had a pink and a cyan streak in the front. Rather than using a hair tie to hold the ponytail up, she used a black, star-shaped clip. Her eyes were the same cyan color as her one streak was, and they sparkled like some sort of superhero's would. She wore a pink jacket, one that was zipped all the way up to show a black star in the dead center of the chest, simple, blue pants, and black, calf-length boots. She came up to the hosts excitedly, bending down to look Dana in the eyes at the same height as her.
"Hey!" she greeted her new host, "How's it goin'? I'm Mitzy!"
"Ah...I remember that Maggie was really excited about you," Dana replied under her breath, "Nice to meet you, I'm Dana."
"Dana Starshine! CEO of Starshine industries! Totally sounds like something that would fit well in one of my comics."
"Comics? Oh...oh! You're Mitzy Wakeman! You're the creator of Kat Kradle!"
"You've heard of it? That's awesome!"
"It's only the coolest comic ever! Using yo-yos to fight crime? That's genius!"
"Aw, you're flattering me too much!"
"Ah, Miss Dan," Aaron sheepishly interrupted the geekfest, "P-p-perhaps we should move on to our plan..."
"Oh, right!" Dana slammed her fist into her palm, "I almost forgot all about that! I'm totally gonna bother you for an autograph later, but for now, could you please make your way to the group of contestants over there?"
"Sure, no sweat!" Mitzy replied, standing from her bent down position and hopping over to the others.
Dana and Aaron both turned to face the group, looking pleased with the people they had gathered to the island. As Dana was about to speak up, a man suddenly descended from the sky with a parachute on his back. Upon landing on the dock, he tossed the chute into the water, causing Alice to gasp in horror, and Theodore to do the same, trying to impress her. Dana looked at the man, her optimistic smile immediately curling into a frown.
"Chris," she gritted her teeth, "Trying to steal my spotlight already, eh?"
"Relax, Dana," the memorable host patted her on the head, "I'm not here to replace you in any way at all."
"What do you want, then?"
"Oh, I dunno...check out the scene...see how things are going...take the place of this loser co-host you've got."
"Hold on a minute, what? I'm not letting you do that!"
"I knew you were gonna be argumentative about this...but come on! He's so...wimpy! The viewers wanna see a shining smile and masterful physique, such as mine. Just let me come back as your co-host and give him the boot."
"B-b-but," Aaron tried to stand up for himself, but he struggled to do so. "I haven't even got ze chance to prove myself yet..."
"No need to, the stutter says it all. What can you do that I can't, anyway?"
"Actually...we've got something planned out for after we show the contestants around where they'll be staying," Dana went on, her smile coming back to her face, "We could show you the grand tour and you can even watch our plan go into action later."
"Pfft, whatever," Chris scoffed, "Let's get this over with, cause I'm mega bored. Dude's at that Greek company are taking way too long to make a certain place hospitable for us. I need some action!"
"Alright, it's settled then. Attention, everyone! We're gonna show all of you where you'll be staying, so please, follow us through the junkyard and we'll take you there."
"Woohoo!" Max cheered, "Goin' on an adventure, let's go!"
The two hosts, along with an annoyed Chris, walked past the group of twenty-two, who soon started to follow them. They made their way through the junkyard, which Alice glared at with pure disgust, Theodore still trying to mimic that disgust to the best of his ability while Daniel and Calvin rolled their eyes at him. After exiting the zone, which took about five minutes, they found themselves walking through a desert, only to find a large vehicle that looked like it came straight from a monster truck derby awaiting them. Aaron jumped into the driver's seat of the vehicle, with Dana and Chris sitting up front with him.
"There's enough seating in the back of this thing for all twenty-two of you," Dana called down to the group, "Just come on up and we can make it to our destination a lot faster."
"A vehicle of this size will surely damage the environment greatly!" Alice noted, crossing her arms, "I'll walk, thank you."
"Uh, me too!" Theodore crossed his arms in a similar manner, causing Alice to glare at him.
"Suit yourselves," Dana shrugged as the other twenty contestants got on board the vehicle. "Next stop: the Cali-Tokyo ruins!"
Aaron gave the vehicle some gas, causing it to start off pretty fast and kick up lots of sand at Alice and Theodore, leaving them coughing as the rest of the group went off into the distance. Alice dusted herself off before starting in that same direction, and Theodore followed in suit.
"What's your deal, Dye Guy?" she jeered, "How come you're acting all weird like this?"
"Whaaaaat?" he glanced away awkwardly, "I'm not acting weird, this is how I always am! I care about our sweet Earth so much...I try to be connected on another level! I sleep on the cold, grassy ground most nights, being one with nature."
"You're up to something shifty, and I don't like it."
"You're totally hot," he spoke under his breath as she pressed on.
"Huh?"
"Nothing!"
As the two made their long trek by foot, the vehicle had already gotten to the ruins of the city that many of these contestants had participated in last season. Aaron parked it right in front of the hotel that was shown much earlier, and everybody made their way down to the ground, some of the veterans remembering the place they were seeing.
"Oh...isn't this the loser's hotel?" Larida asked, a tad confused as to why it had been relocated.
"It is indeed," Dana answered cheerfully. "But we've done some major remodels on the inside. It's now known as...the Survivor's Hotel! In it, there are two rooming floors, one for the boys and one for the girls. You guys, the contestants, also known as the survivors, will make this place your home for the foreseeable future!"
"Interesting," Zane stroked his chin, "So a sort of base of operations, yeah?"
"I guess? Why don't you all make your way in there and get yourselves settled in? There's a room for all of you, you can identify them by the nameplate they bear. But there is one little thing that I should also mention-"
Confessional
Dana could be seen with a boastful smile as she sat in a fancy hotel restroom. It was complete with the large mirror and sink that one would see in a regular hotel bathroom, but the mirror had a camera within it.
"-Welcome to our brand new confessional booth!" she clapped her hands together as she introduced it, "You can go in here to vent, rant, or say just about anything that you don't want your peers to know. Your secret is safe with us...and our many viewers."
"Most of these people seem pretty cool!" Mitzy started, though she gained a look of suspicion on her face, "Except for...Zane. I don't like the vibe I'm getting from him, seems like he's up to something already. Not sure what it is, but I'll be sure to find out before my Total Drama saga comes to a close!"
"I've gotta think of some strategies to keep myself in this game," Zane commented, leaning back in his seat, "It's an interesting group, but a few days here and I'll have everyone penned out to the smallest fault. I do plan to play this straight...but knowing your opponents is half of the battle, right?"
"I'm so excited!" Bunny cheered, "Romance, drama, comedy...this is spicy! Hot stories all around me, it's a paradise!"
"I'm on a super secret mission!" Blaster announced proudly, "I'm here to look for J-"
"Don't let her finish that confessional!" Calvin pleaded.
Confessional End
Sometime after the many contestants had made their homes in their new rooms, they each came back out to the front of the hotel, noticing that Dana, Aaron, and Chris were all awaiting them, with Dana glancing over at Aaron proudly. Theodore and Alice still had yet to arrive, but that was to be expected, considering how massive the desert really was.
"So, how'd you all enjoy your new rooms?" Dana asked, interested to hear from her contestants, "Were they all to your liking?"
"Yeah...it was pretty cool," Vernon mumbled, keeping his voice quiet to avoid being the center of attention.
"Can't complain," Ronnie added, "I ain't never had anything fancy like that before."
"Oh, it's just wonderful, Dana!" Larida said sweetly.
"Well, that's great to hear! And now...it's time for the first challenge of the season!"
"What!?" the group choraled, astounded that there was already a challenge planned out for them.
"But we just started unpacking!" Celeste complained, "Can't it wait until tomorrow?"
"No, it can't wait. You see, Chris here is doubting the abilities of Aaron as a host...so I think it's a good time to have him show everyone that he is capable! I'm letting him take charge of this whole challenge, and don't worry, none of you will be eliminated after it's all over. We're simply doing this to determine or teams for the season. Without further ado, Aaron, please take the stand."
She gestured to the boy, who tapped his fingers together meekly as Chris watched him judgingly.
"A-a-ah, ja," he swallowed his fear, trying to speak up for the group, "You're first challenge...designed by me. So...ve have two different teams for all of you to be on...zey are called ze Dustbowl Dingos und ze Sandstorm Squirrels. Ve have hidden many shiny little coins all over zis place for you to find. Zey don't go out very f-f-far...just around ze hotel. You all need to find your coins, vich ve vill be using to put you on your new team. Yellow coins are for ze Squirrels...und brown are for ze Dingos. Zere is eleven of each color. You can all go looking for zem, ja, und bring zem to us to be p-p-put on your team. I zink zat covers everyzing..."
"Aaron, would you like to do the honors of starting the challenge?"
"I-I-I may do zat? Vy, zank you Miss Dana! Everyone...your first challenge starts...n-n-now!"
Without a moment to spare, the group set off all in different directions, each of them beginning to search for their coins. Chris let out a sigh, annoyed that Dana was so insistent on the fact that Aaron could be as good as him.
Confessional
"A little scavenger hunt, eh?" Mitchell smirked as he thought about it, "This is a much better warm up challenge than the first one of last season. Props to that Aaron guy, maybe Dana will be more tame, too."
"Oh, I like Aaron," Yves mentioned, a smile on her face, "He seems sweet enough...kinda reminds me of Valerie, with how shy he is."
"Er, what is the difference between yellow and brown?" Fridge asked, trying to figure out the answer to his question, "Aren't they the same color? Or...yellow is darker, maybe?"
"I'm going to end up on a team of winners," Ronnie said confidently, "Start strong and power through the other team 'til they've got nothing left."
Confessional End
CJ and Caleb found themselves searching around the wreckage of Dana's mech, each of them lifting up pieces of rubble to search for the coins that Aaron had mentioned. As they did so, CJ noticed something far off into the distance, something that was atop one of the crumbling rooftops. It looked small from afar, but it had a somewhat spider-like appearance to it, only if spiders could be centaurs.
"Brooooooo, is that, like, a real robot?" the skater boy asked, trying to get Caleb's attention.
"Huh?" the short boy looked up from where he was, seeing nothing in the distance, "What are you going on about, pothead?"
"What? Like on that building over...there..."
Upon returning his glance to the area he saw the object in before, he noticed that it had entirely disappeared, causing him to lose his happy smile. Meanwhile, Caleb had found not one, but two coins, one of each color.
"Hm...Dingo or Squirrel? Ha! I'll be damned if I let someone call me a Squirrel! Hey, potty! Take this!"
"Eh?"
CJ turned to face Caleb again, only for the yellow coin to strike him in the nose, causing him to hold it in sudden pain. He picked up the coin soon after, looking at it closely before starting back towards the host.
"Thanks...I guess...jerk."
Caleb grinned smugly as the boy left his sight and Fridge came nearby. The boy, being the opportunist that he was, hurried over to the larger competitor, tapping him on the side.
"Hey! Hey, big oaf!"
"Huh?" Fridge glanced around a bit before looking down to see Caleb, "Oh, it's the football!"
"No, no, no! I am not a fu#$ing football! I'm Caleb! I'm your...er, friend!"
"Friend? Oh, I love friends! Hey, Friendleb!"
"Yeah, yeah, anyway...do you have a coin yet?"
"Oh, yeah! I got one of the brown ones!"
Fridge held up a yellow coin, causing Caleb to facepalm in disappointment.
"That's one of the- ah, whatever! Look, I need you to go ask someone to give you the other color one!"
"Like who?"
"It doesn't matter who you ask, just ask someone! Say that you really wanna be on a team with your friend, they'll fall for- I mean, they'll understand!"
"Oh, okay! Anybody at all?"
"Yeah, just not Brittany! She needs to be friends with us, too!"
"Oh...Brittany, hm? Okay!"
With that, Fridge stomped off in some other direction, and Caleb smugly waltzed towards the hosts with his cocky attitude.
Confessional
"Alright, everything is all set for me to steal the show!" Caleb grinned widely, "Last season, my alliance with Buck never happened. But, this season? I'm gonna take the competition by storm! Mwahahaha!"
Confessional End
Fridge started walking through the group of people, noticing that there were people all around him that were plucking their coins up from the rubble. One of them that he payed close attention to was Max, who was standing nearby Calvin. She held up one of the brown coins in her hands victoriously, Calvin doing the same. Looking at her, he thought about what her name was, and what Caleb had said to him about Brittany.
"Don't ask Brittany," he said to himself, sure that Max was Brittany.
He turned his attention to the real Brittany, who was not very far from where the other two were. She was holding a brown coin, blowing the dust off of it gently. Fridge looked down at his own coin, noting that the color on it was different than hers, and confidently ran up to her.
"Oh, hey!" he called for her attention, and got it pretty quickly.
"Huh?" she looked up at him as he towered over her, "What do you need, big guy?"
"You know that tiny guy? The one with the orange head who looks like a football?"
"Pfft, Caleb?"
"Yeah! He told me to trade with someone, I can do that right? I don't really understand this yet."
"What, like trade coins?"
"Yeah! That!"
"Hm...well...I mean, if Caleb says to do it, there must be a good reason, right? He doesn't waste time if he knows it won't go anywhere."
Gently, Brittany held her coin out to Fridge, who happily took it in his own hand before dropping his in her hands.
"Thanks, friend! I gotta give this to the hosts now, you're the best!"
"Uh...thanks?"
Fridge happily stomped off towards the hosts, with Brittany following soon after to drop her own coin off.
Confessional
"I don't know why Caleb wanted him to switch coins," Brittany started, tapping her chin in thought, "But there must be some reason...oh! Maybe he wants to have an ally on the other team, so he's splitting us up to work more efficiently! That's gotta be it!"
"This place is friggin' sweet!" Max said cheerfully, "I can't believe I get to live here for free! I bet the food is to die for. Awwwwww man, it's gonna be awesome!"
Confessional End
Elsewhere, Mitzy and Bunny were searching in a similar are for their coins. Mitzy dug through some broken concrete in a pile, while Bunny climbed said pile, hoping to find something shiny atop all the rubble. Once she reached the top, she noticed a brown coin, and smirked at it, grabbing it and snapping a very high quality picture of it. Mitzy soon found a coin for herself in the rubble she was digging through, and she held it proudly.
"Woohoo!" the comic artist cheered, "Guess I'm gonna be a dingo!"
"A dingo?" Bunny asked, rushing down to her fellow newbie, "Wow, incredible! This means me and you will be on the same team!"
"Oh, really? That's sweet! Your name was Bunny, right?"
"Yeppers! And you're Mitzy! I've seen your comics before, most impressive, might I say?"
"Aw, well thanks, Bunny!"
"Of course! You know...I get the feeling that me and you will get to be really good friends!"
"I hope so! It'd be nice to have someone to talk to amidst all the drama, not to mention the...'villains.'"
"Villains?"
"Oh, you know. The people who backstab others to get ahead of the game, or the people who bully those who can't stand up for themselves. I can't stand it!"
"Oh, yeah! Me neither, girl!"
"Ah, so we share some interests! That's cool!"
"Yes...very cool!"
Mitzy smiled brightly at the girl next to her, who then patted her on the back while letting out some friendly laughter. In a similar rubble pile not too far off from where they were, Blaster dug incredibly fast, trying to find a coin for herself. Mitchell and Celeste watched in amazement as bits and pieces of rubble went flying over their heads at an incredible pace. In tossing the rubble, she also managed to toss two of the remaining brown coins behind her, which Celeste happily caught and passed one on to Mitchell.
"Now we get to be on the same team, Mitchy!" she said sweetly, kissing him on the cheek.
"Sweet," Mitchell replied with a smirk, "I'd hate to be away from my sweet, little psycho."
"Aw, you're too kind!"
"Aha!" Blaster shouted, holding up a yellow coin, "I found one!"
"And we end up on the same team," Ronnie interrupted her cheering, coming from around the pile with a yellow coin of his own, "A team of winners, that's for sure."
"Oh, Rooster! Hi!"
"Rooster? What are you talking about, girl, it's Ronnie. R-O-N-N-I-E!"
"Reginald?"
"Would ya- ah, nevermind!"
The boy rolled his eyes, storming past both her and the couple to head over to the hosts. Meanwhile, Margaret and Daniel were both searching closer to the hotel, in hopes of finding their coins and getting the challenge over with already. Margaret was quick to spot one of the brown ones by the wall, picking it up and grinning at it before flipping it into the air.
"Looks like I'm a Dingo," she said to her boyfriend, glancing over at him.
"And I'm a Squirrel," he replied, flashing her his own yellow coin.
"Oh...well, that's kinda disappointing."
"Yeah, but it is what it is, right? We can still date each other and be on opposing teams."
"Obviously. I'm not letting some stupid game pull us apart."
"Haha, I didn't think you would."
The two laughed awkwardly, but it soon turned into a slightly upset sounding sigh.

"Me and Danny on different teams, eh?" Margaret looked down at the floor, slightly disappointed, "Not what I was hoping for, but I can deal with it."
"I'll definitely be fine without her," Daniel said with a smirk, "I mean, I definitely got a lot of help from her last season...but I should manage just fine!"
Confessional End
While a good deal of the group was still looking for their coins, Valerie found herself just standing at the door to the hotel, not wanting to get in anyone's way. She had figured that she could probably just grab whatever the last coin was, leaving room for everyone else to get on the team they wanted to be on first. She let out a sigh, not noticing that Zane was standing nearby, both hands in his coat pockets.
"Yo," he greeted her with a head nod, "Whatcha doin' over here all lonely?"
"Oh...just staying out of the way," she mumbled, sitting down on some of the rubble, "What about you?"
"Well, I found my coin already and turned it in. I'm just chilling for now. Did you get one?"
"No...I'm just waiting for now. People can get their coins before me, it'll be fine."
"Why do you say that?"
"Well...why would anyone want me on their team? I'm just sad, fat, and useless."
"Come on, don't say that. Maybe there is someone who wants you on their team."
"Like who?"
"What about me? You can be on a team with me."
"But you don't even know me yet..."
"Sure, but we could always become better friends that way. I did say we would be friends, right?"
"...I think so...but I'd have to find-"
She was interrupted by Zane tossing a yellow coin her way. She caught it, looking down at it in her hands before looking back over at him.
"Welcome to the Squirrels, buddy."
Zane took his leave from his spot, leaving Valerie behind with a faint smile growing on her face.

"Zane is...nice," Valerie mumbled, "Really nice to me...I don't see why I deserve that."
Confessional End
After some time had passed, everyone had found a coin for the most part, just Theodore and Alice remained without them, since they still had yet to actually show up. Dana helped Aaron with a chart that had all of the members of each team for the moment while Chris looked off to the side, annoyed that she was still wasting her time on the dilemma.
"Well, Aaron?" she nudged him, "How about you announce the results?"
"Oh...ja, I can do zat," he nodded in agreement.
"Oh, come on, dude!" Chris interrupted him before he could start listing the names off, "This is bogus! Mr. Shy Sheep over here can't be interesting for a whole season, it just won't happen! Dana, can't you just call this whole stupid challenge off and-"
"We're here!" Alice shouted from behind the hosts.
All three of them turned to see her with Theodore, both drenched in sweat and panting like dogs on a hot summer day. They continued to step forward, each of them tripping over something and falling into the rubble.
"Ah!" Theodore jumped up from the ground, dusting himself off, "What was that?"
"Looks like some sort of coin," Alice replied, having turned to look at the two shiny objects that they had tripped over. "Yellow and brown. But why?"
"Hm..."
The girl picked up the brown one, staring at it closely while Theodore grabbed the yellow one. Each of them studied their coins, but Aaron rushed over quickly and snatched them for himself, writing down their names on his chart.
"Zat is everyone!" Aaron announced, a bit more excitable than before. "Ve have our whole cast set up on two teams now!"
"Huh?" the two contestants that were late to the party glanced up at him in confusion.
"On ze Sandstorm Squirrels, ve have...Daniel, Larida, Buck, Zane, Ronnie, Valerie, Zeodore, Blaster, Brittany, CJ, and Yves!"
"Woohoo!" Larida cheered loudly, "I get to be with some of my old teammates from the last season!"
"An interesting line-up," Ronnie added, "I wonder who our headliners will be."
"Haha, sweet," CJ chuckled, "Does this mean we get to have muchies, now?"
"And...on ze Dustbowl Dingos...Mitchell, Vernon, Caleb, Celeste, Fridge, Bunny, Mitzy, Max, Alice, Calvin, and Margaret!"
"Haha!" Caleb laughed in a boastful manner, "Dingos rul- wait a minute, huh!? How is Brittany on the other team!?"
"She's not!" Fridge assured Caleb, pointing over at Max, "She's right there."
"What!? That's not Brittany, that's Max! Brittany's over there!"
Fridge looked over at Brittany, who Caleb was now pointing at. Thinking back to earlier, he remembered her as the girl that he switched coins with.
"Ohhhh, that's who I switched with!"
"You what!? You...you...AHGHGHAGHAGHGAGAHG!"
"Oh...are you okay, Friendleb?"
"AGHGAHGAGHAGHAGHGA!"
"I'm guessing that's a no," Calvin mumbled to Fridge.
"Oh, alas," Theodore said with a sigh as he looked over at Alice, who had her arms crossed as she stood with her team, "My princess isn't on a team with me. How will I survive this?"
"Uh...by growing a pair?" Brittany suggested in her mocking tone.
As the new teams bickered and chatted, Dana approached Chris with a bright smile on her face. The seasoned host rolled his eyes at her, annoyed that she was so against having him on her show as the co-host.
"Alright, I get it," he said with an irritated look on his face, "You like Aaron more than me, blah blah."
"That's not why I'm not letting you be my co-host," she noted in her happy tone, "I just think that Aaron and I will make for a good pair. He has some great ideas for what we should do with the show and all that. This whole challenge was his idea, and I think it was pretty good for day one."
"Okay! Enough already, just let me leave. I'll get Chef to bring me a boat and-"
"Oh...no, no. I think I have a much better idea on how to send you home."
Chris narrowed his eyes, noticing that she had a malevolent grin on her face.

"This place seems pretty cool," CJ started, feeling confident, "But that thing on the one roof was...really weird. Maybe I was just seeing things, man. I dunno."
"A brand new season should be good for me," Buck noted, letting out a loud yawn, "Maybe take my mind off of some of these other things."
"Theodore is creepy," Alice grumbled. "If you're gonna crush on me, fine, whatever. But the least he could do is just be himself."
"Alice sure is purdy," Theodore said to himself, his eyes bubbling with love.
Confessional End
Later, the two teams found themselves, along with Dana, Aaron, Chris, and a funky little robot, standing in some sort of colosseum by the water. It had many rows of seats, as well as two benches down in the colosseum itself, those which only had Chris sitting on one of them. Dana, Aaron, and the robot stood near a podium down in there with him, the host grinning eagerly. The robot was poorly made, only standing on one wheel with its circuitry expose. It was mainly a dull blue in color, but it had flashy, green eyes that got everyone's attention. The puny thing couldn't have been much taller than Caleb, but it was taller than him, nonetheless.
"Welcome, to the Colosseum of Shame!" Dana shouted in an ecstatic tone, "Here, we will hold every single elimination ceremony in the entire season! All challenge winners will get to watch from the seats above, while the losers find themselves down here on these benches! Tonight, we don't have a true loser, but Chris needs to get on out of here, so it's time to show you how the real losers will be leaving when they get eliminated! Aaron! Unveil the Trampoline of Shame!"
"J-j-ja, Miss Dana!" Aaron obliged, pressing a button on a remote in his hand, causing the ground to part in the center of the colosseum, showing a massive trampoline underneath it.
"Pfft," Chris laughed at the trampoline, "What, you expect me to bounce myself to loserdom? That's lame, even for you, Dana."
"Go ahead, try it out," she said with a smirk.
"Sure, whatever."
The famed host approached the trampoline, jumping onto it and hopping towards the center of it, each jump only getting him a few feet in the air at most. He laughed at the pathetic excuse for an elimination vehicle.
"Boooooring! I could do better than this in my sleep!"
"Oh yeah? Well, see ya!"
"What are you talking about? I'm clearly not going anywhere!"
As he finished his mocking statement, Aaron pressed the button on the remote once again, causing that very trampoline to sink quite low into the ground while Chris was in the air. Upon going down, he noticed how low it had gone, and screamed for dear life as his feet touched the trampoline, stretching it out far from its normal shape before he was sent soaring into the distance.
"You'll pay for thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis!" he shouted, though it soon became a distant whisper.
Dana was satisfied with the results, and as such, she patted Aaron on the back. The contestants watched in fear, knowing that they would have to deal with this very contraption at some point in the show.
"Well, there you have it!" she said, still excited as all could be, "We've got twenty-two contestants split up into two teams! We'll have our first real elimination ceremony next time, but we hope you enjoyed seeing Chris go flying for now! I'm Dana Starshine-"
"U-u-und I'm Aaron Mayer!" Aaron said meekly.
"And welcome, to Total Drama: Scrap Island!"
