A/N: Sorry for the delay. Work has been insane and I have all these chapters planned out. I wasn't planning on this next chapter taking so long. I seen your comments and I have an idea where this story is going. Just I am not very far on it on twitter either. But, I try to stay as true to these characters as possible. Thank you for the comments and now enjoy this next chapter. More AN's at the end of the chapter

Arizona's point of view:

Ever since the custody battle that earned Arizona the right to Sofia, everything seemed to go wrong from there. It was like the whole world was against her. Never in her lifetime did she think that she would fall in love as deep as she did with Callie and then have her heart shattered like she did. What Arizona done was wrong, the cheating. But, following that and attempting to get their lives back on track, Arizona thought they were doing good.

That was until she decided to take up the fetal fellowship with Herman. This was Arizona's one chance at furthering her career and it just so happens that it was also around the time that Arizona and Callie were planning on having a second child. From that point on, it all fell apart. No matter how many times they went to couple's therapy, it seemed to just push them apart from one another and it hurt Arizona that they couldn't make it work.

Arizona didn't have a clue what Callie was doing. All she knew, or thought she knew, was that she was in New York and having the time of her life. She even thought that Callie was still with Penny. Sofia was happy with Callie in New York and that's exactly what Arizona had wanted. For both of them to be happy.

The year without Sofia, it was difficult for Arizona. It was difficult because not only was Callie not there, but neither was her daughter. At the start, most nights she was crying herself to sleep at the loneliness that had built up inside of her as she still said in the house in which the pair had bought together.

Some nights, Arizona would even sleep in Sofia's bed in an attempt to be close to her, but that did nothing good for her leg. During the start, Arizona somewhat lost herself and she was only slowly beginning to feel like herself once again, the perky roller-skating blonde. Though, even with Callie having previously been helping her to roller-skate again, she never had someone that she relied on so much to help her.

Her shoes still lay in the corner, still in the box from the last time she had worn them and every time she caught sight of them, a wave of sadness washed over her, remembering back to the night that Callie had tried to help her.

Something that got Arizona through her days was the thought of seeing Sofia on video call every week so that they could catch up and see how the other was doing. It was strange to Arizona that after everything, her ex-wife didn't want to be shown on camera. It was like she didn't want any contact with her at all and it made her feel like everything they felt was non-existent. It was like Callie wanted nothing to do with Arizona anymore and every time they hung up; all she would hear was a 'bye' from her. For almost a whole year it had been like this and yet, Arizona felt the same afterwards.

It took a while for Arizona to get back into the dating game again and with the help of Richard being her wingman, she finally got back into the swing of things and began to feel like herself. Though, after time she found herself with various people and it wasn't until she met Carina that things got serious.

Things had been going well. It was different and Arizona didn't know how serious things would get between the two until Carina had told her that she loved her recently to which Arizona took a while to say back being she didn't know if she really was ready to fall back in love with someone.

That night, Carina was working, and so Arizona took it upon herself to relax in front of the TV with a glass of wine in hand. She heard the doorbell ring, she wondered who it was but got up, nonetheless, much against her will she might add. Her feet padded against the floor and she yelled "I'm coming" as she set her wine down and unlocked the door, only to be met by her ex-wife and Sofia.

Arizona stood there, stunned and fumbling over her words having not expected it. Taking in Callie, her hair was short, a lot shorter but she was still the same Callie that she fell in love with. Arizona cleared her throat and forced a smile onto her face when Sofia ran into her arms and Arizona instantly hugged her close. "You've grown!" She chuckled in a way to hide the tears that were apparent on her face as she hugged the little girl. Her eyes couldn't meet with Callie's not just yet.

A/N 2: Next Chapter we will get the two to finally talk. These chapter were more of a building block to get them to where they are now. So please bare with me as this is a slow burn. But like always, constructive criticism is welcome. Please enjoy this ride with the girls.
