"Milla!" Piper, the counselor of the Aphrodite cabin, called.

I turned around. "Yes?"

She ran toward me, panting. "The Aphrodite, Demeter, and Athena cabin are having a face off. We're trying to learn about sword fighting, since most of us in those cabins are cooped up all day. The other cabins will be watching"

I smiled. "Sounds good to me."

"Great! We're at the sword fighting arena." She shouted over her shoulder, racing off.

I followed her, breaking into a sprint.

As I neared the arena, I saw Percy and Annabeth sparring. As usual, no one had the upper hand.

Percy aimed his sword at Annabeth, but she rolled out of the way and sprang up gracefully. She whipped her dagger at Percy, but he caught her arm and was about to force it down when Annabeth twisted free, her dagger in Percy's hand.

I thought for sure that Annabeth was going to lose now that she was disarmed, but I was wrong.

Annabeth swept her foot out and tripped Percy, but he angled his fall so that he fell on top of Annabeth. They grappled with each other, Annabeth reaching for her dagger, Percy trying to push her down, but it ended as it always did: with both their weapons at each other's throats.

"And now that we've had a demonstration, Katie, Milla, do you want to try?" Chiron said, shaking his head at the duo.

Katie snapped to attention. "Uh, not yet, I want to practice more."

"More like spend more time with the Stolls!" One camper shouted.

"Yeah! Tratie forever!" Connor joined in.

Travis elbowed Connor, but he just grinned and chanted even louder, "Tratie! Tratie!"

"Stop it!" Katie hissed to Connor, but Connor smirked. "Never! Even if I was stuck in Tartarus, I would never stoppppppp!" He screamed the last two words, egging the crowd on to start chanting with him.

Soon it turned into mayhem, everyone screaming and tackling each other, swords thrown left and right.

"Well, that's sweet of your brother." Katie's voice cut through the screaming easily. "Because Tratie will never stop, even in Tartarus."

As the Aphrodite girls squealed, Travis kissed Katie, pulling her close. Katie threw her arms around Travis, and his hands clung to her. As they finally broke apart, Chiron cleared his throat, looking awkward.

"Oh! Uh..." Katie started to say.

Her voice trailed off as Percy stumbled forward, eyes wide. He curled into a ball, muttering, "Tartarus. Never stop. Can't. Can't, can't, can't. Too weak. Should give up. Should... should die."

"Percy!" Annabeth barreled forward, leaning forward and hugging Percy. "No, no, don't die. No!" I watched as the two clutched each other as if they were the only ones that mattered in the world.

Everyone went silent.

I hefted my sword from side to side, not sure what I should do.

I saw Piper looking around, trying to find a way to get out of the tightly packed crowd. "Make way!" She was shouting, but it wasn't workin, even when she tried charmspeak.

Everyone was too stunned to even hear what she was saying. They weren't registering the words at all.

I nervously walked toward the crowd. Thank goodness I had stayed toward the bleachers. Otherwise I would have been stuck too.

"Do you, uh, need help?" I asked awkwardly to Piper.

Her eyes lit up.

"Milla!" Piper shouted. "Do something! Hit him with your sword or something!"

Looking back, she probably hadn't meant that. It had just popped into her mind. But charmspeak, remember?

So I marched toward Percy and smacked him with my sword.

Now, my sword is weird. It's woven out of really, really, prickly rose thorns. The handle was the only safe spot. So as I thrust it toward him, I realized my mistake quickly and started singing a tune.

I couldn't not hit him because of the charmspeak. But then again, I couldn't hit him, because he'd start bleeding and that would just make it worse.

So the tune I was singing would grow some grass at the tip, so that it would be soft. But it wasn't fast enough.

I thrust my fist at the tip, instead, and even though it stung like crazy, I kept doing it, aiming and taking it with my clenched, stinging fist.

Eventually there was enough grass, and then I didn't have to punch the sword anymore. So I jabbed him with my sword.

But all the punching on the sword had made an imprint on the tip, making it seem like the sword was punching Percy.

I punched Percy with a sword because Piper charmspeaked me to.

I know, I know, short one, but I promise I'll do better next time! pRoMiSe
