Bolt and Penny walked home in silence, the dog wondering who his lady was talking to, who seemed angry with him.
"You shouldn't have run straight to Johnathan, do you know how awkward I felt around Lucas?" said Penny, at which Bolt gave a quiet and sad moan.
"Luckily he's a nice boy and nothing happened" added the girl trying to reassure her pet. Bolt, when Penny reminded of the boy she was talking to started barking loudly.
"There, hush hush... Nothing happened... Really. We're going home" Penny knelt down stroking Bolt's head and kissing his forehead.
"I need to get a grip... I like Johnathan, but Penny is more important to me" thought Bolt as he considered his behaviour. He didn't want to do anything bad for his lady, he expected her to know that, but he still had to show it.
After 20 minutes Penny and Bolt returned home and were already at the house. Rhino and Mittens were lying on the stairs hiding from the hot rays of the sun.
"Howdy Bolt, how's the walk?" asked the cat seeing her friend.
"Oh, hi... Good, all good" replied Bolt. Before opening the door Penny stroked Mittens head which made the cat purr in pleasure.
"Yeah... Ekhm, Bolt!" snapped Rhino to attention.
"Mhm? What's up?" asked Bolt.
"Could I appear in a show with you?"
The hamster jumped at the suggestion, causing his friends to laugh.
"Why are you laughing?" asked Rhino being surprised by their reaction.
"Well, you know, I have no control over who gets to play the show. I'm sorry."
"Let's just say you wouldn't be able to handle the evil troops," added Mittens with a giggle.
"I wouldn't be able to handle it? You're the one who hasn't seen me in action yet!" shouted the hamster performing acrobatics to show off his ninja skills. Bolt laughed as he saw his friends start arguing about the same thing for the third time this week, then he walked with Penny into the house, who by this time had managed to collect Bolt's toys that were lying on the stairs. Inside the house Penny's mother was already waiting for them, ironing clothes for her daughter.
"Take a bath Penny, you must be ready".
"But mum, it's barely 11 a.m., we have time..."
"It's better to do everything ahead of time than to rush later" the woman pointed out.
"Ekh well" sighed Penny, then turned to her dog kneeling beside her.
"Go to your room doggie, when I get back maybe we can watch something together, hm?" suggested Penny, to which Bolt waved his head affirmatively.
"Then fly upstairs, I'll be there in half an hour" communicated Penny, then she headed for the first floor bathroom.
Bolt decided to go outside for a moment more to see how the discussion between Rhino and Mittens was going. The two were lying on the opposite side of the stairs, which made Bolt laugh.
"Did you two argue again?" asked Bolt.
"That little nut thinks he could knock down an army of people!" accused Mittens.
"If I wanted to I would! Right Bolt?" asked Rhino.
"Well... Yeah sure, but never mind that. Me and Penny will be watching something in a bit, maybe you guys want to too?" suggested Bolt. Mittens and Rhino looked at each other giving each other a sign of agreement.
"Sure, why not." accepted Mittens entering the house with her friends. The three of them headed up to the first floor to Penny's bedroom.
After 15 minutes the bathroom door opened. Out came Penny, who was wearing a dressing gown and her hair wrapped in a towel.
" I see we are going to watch as a group" the girl laughed as she saw her pets lying on the bed waiting for her. Laying down on the bed next to them she was careful not to let the towel fall from her hair.
"So what can we watch..." sighed Penny looking through the list on netflix.
" All in all The Witcher might be a good choice, what do you guys think? " asked Penny.
"Take your pick Bolt."
"Could be the witcher " nodded the dog with a motion of his head. The girl turned on the witcher, then chose a more comfortable position to lie down.
Several hours later
After a rather long marathon of watching TV series (they didn't just watch the Witcher), it was time to get dressed and get ready to leave. It was 6 p.m. Penny and Bolt had lunch, Penny additionally changed into her departure outfit.
"It's like Bolt, ready to defend me from evil?" asked Penny the dog, who barked affirmatively.
"That's good, we'll be leaving in 5 minutes if you don't mind" interjected Penny's mother taking the car keys from a rack that stood next to the door.
" I'm going to go to the bathroom for a minute, I'll be there in a minute." Communicated the girl, then disappeared into the bathroom.
"That's the one... Good luck, have fun" Mittens said to Bolt in a sad tone.
"Don't be so sad, it's only two or three hours of filming"
"Well yes, but it feels so lonely when you guys are gone..."
"You're with Rhino all the time"
"Yes, who watches TV all the time and doesn't even deign to choose which channel we should watch taking the remote for me " replied the cat casting an evil look at the hamster.
"Today I will let you choose" interjected the hamster hearing the conversation.
"Yeah sure or I'll believe it. You're going to put the remote again where only you can go" snorted Mittens.
"Hehe well, just don't kill each other I'll be thinking about you all the time" said Bolt then Penny came out of the bathroom.
"So what doggy, let's go" said Penny then walked with Bolt out the car door.
When they arrived at the filming stage, there was already a staff of characterizations standing by the car park ready to go to work.
"Penny, Bolt, how good of you to be here already" Mindy greeted them.
"Good morning" replied Penny.
"As you know we are shooting scenes in a spaceship right now. Before we start shooting you need to be properly... Made up.
"Make-up?" repeated Penny.
"You know, right now we're filming you being abducted by a ufo so you have to shine so it feels like you're wearing a substance unknown to humans. We're trying to present the encounter as realistically as possible," the woman explained.
"Realistically present even though something like this has never happened?"
"That's why it's easy to manipulate the audience... But no more talk. Take them under the workshop and paint them so that they really look like they've been kidnapped" the woman ordered turning back while the painters took Bolt and Penny into the room where actors are painted.
It was a room swarming with hair and make-up equipment. There were mirrors all around and comfortable armchairs in front of them, which Bolt liked to sit on. There was at least a lamp on one side of each chair so that you could see every detail of the face to be improved.
"Ok, this might hurt a bit as it's a bit cold and might tickle" the woman who had tackled Penny communicated, then with a brush began to paint her face. Actually, it was not very pleasant, but it also tickled. On the one hand the coldness pinched the face, but on the other the slippery substance caused a tickling sensation. Bolt was painted with the same preparation but that didn't bother him because his thick fur made him not even feel the cold.
"Actors ready!" said the make-up artist letting Bolt and Penny out of their seats. A moment later the man supervising all the work approached her.
"Have you read the script at home?"
"Yes sir."
"Great, remember you are being abducted by ufo's. You are afraid of them and their every move. Show fear and uncertainty" the man informed as they headed for the spaceship that stood on the movie stage. Inside, everyone was already in their positions: cameras, panels controlling the various instruments of the stage, men dressed as ufo's waited just off stage.
" Lie down on Penny's bed, and let Bolt lie on top of you" communicated the Director. When it was all ready, the countdown began.
"3... 2...1... Ufo scene, take one... Action!"
Let's hope all goes well for them on set and Bolt saves Penny again!
