"Hey there darlin' could I get, two bud lights and uuh a whiskey," The curly-haired man said

With her back to him, Jackie rolled her eyes and huffed a little 'darling, who does this guy think he is.' Jackie said to herself, but she got him what he ordered.

As she turned around to give him his order he suddenly spoke up again " Oh, shit you're new" He said with a surprise.

Jackie looked at the stranger with a look of confusion." What the hell are you talking about"

"Oh, I just mean I know the owner, and she doesn't usually hire anyone new. Hell, the last new waitress was 6 years ago" he said with a slight chuckle at the end. "But, that's mostly my brother Colt's fault" he continued.

Jackie eyed him for a moment thinking he was lying about knowing the owner for free beer "Ok firstly I'm not your darling. Secondly, of course, you've never seen me before because if you had you would definitely remember me. Thirdly, I don't care whether or not you know the owner, you're not getting that beer for free". She paused "Hank over there already tried that," she said bluntly, all while giving the old man the side-eye.

"She's right, I did," said the other bar occupant.

Turning her attention back to the stranger, she said "so that will be $22.00 please." she said with a satisfied smirk.

Just as he was about to reply, he noticed the two men he walked in with were finally done with their argument and were making their way down to the bar.

The man smirked, "No I don't think I will".

As Jackie was about to say something, she was interpreted by Maggie bursting in from the storage room.

"Oh my God, Colt?" Maggie exclaimed shocked.

"Hey mama," said Colt.

"Oh don't you mama me," She said gleefully. Maggie was so happy to see her son again, she practically sprinted over to him and hugged him.

Mama? That's Maggie's son? Jackie thought. But wait, if that's Maggie's son and this guy in front of me said that his brother's name was Colt, he also knows Maggie and Maggie has two grown sons….oh shit! she thought with a sense of dread.

As if reading her mind and the realization it just came upon, the curly-haired man smirked "I'll be taking that free beer now" he said smugly and Jackie glared at him. Owners son or not she will not be made a mockery of..not again.

After fawning over Colt, Maggie finally took notice of the little 'disagreement' between Jackie and her other boy. "Oh, Jackie, you finally had the displeasure of meeting my son Rooster" she joked.

"Well since you've already met one you might as well meet the rest" she continued "This handsome dumbass right here is my youngest Colt and this old coot is my husband Beau and you've already met Rooster".

"Wait, did you just say Colt, as in Colt Bennett the football player?" Jackie asked.

"Oh yeah I'm him alright, I'm not doing autograph's right now but if you want I could give you a private 'interview' after your shift". He said suavely. Ok, the resemblance between Colt and Micheal is uncanny, from the way he stands to the goofy look on his face. But, the one thing that just screams Micheal is how the first words he ever spoke to her were a pick-up line. Jackie felt as if she was in some weird parallel universe or something.

"Oh no, I don't want your autograph or anything" She giggled "I just knew someone who bitched about you All. The. time" She emphasised.

"Wait wait, what!?" Colt said shocked. How could someone bitch about his football career? He was a pro athlete!

"Oh yeah, he used to say "Colt Bennett is the biggest dumbass ever!" and "if I ever met him I'd put my foot so far up his ass he might even learn how to kick a football". Oh, and one of my favourites was "I've seen commies that could kick better than him,' And honestly I have to agree with him you sucked!" she giggled lightly. God even though Red was a hardass he was still pretty funny.

"O-oh good lord that's f-funny," Beau said between laughs and as he wiped a tear from his eye.

"Man, I like this chick" Rooster winked at Jackie as he continued laughing.

Jackie blushed a little (something that didn't go unnoticed by Rooster) and quickly looked away as she felt a familiar flutter in her stomach. Almost like the butterflies, she felt whenever Ste-Hyde winked at her. She shook her head slightly to rid herself of thoughts of Hyde she'd spent 6 months trying to get him out of her head and while it proved harder than imagined she was finally starting to forget him and she was not about to start from square one.

Turning her attention back to the Bennetts, she finally noticed the completely shocked and offended look on Colt's face.

"How could you guys think that's funny!?" He looked around for some support but found none. Instead, he found his brother, father and even his mother trying to hide her laughter.

"Mom how could you be laughing at that" Colt exclaimed

"Yeah come on Colt don't act like that's the first person to insult you since you've been back, hell I've done nothing but insult you and your lady boots," Beau said teasingly and Jackie could see that he was liking this way too much.

"Oh shush you two," Maggie said as she hit both men in the chest "I'm sorry sweetie," She said in hope of comforting her son.

"Yeah, and if it makes you feel any better he talks that way to everyone, even his son. Hell his nickname for me was 'The loud one' and he called everyone and I mean everyone a dumbass" Jackie said reassuringly. Honestly, she normally wouldn't reassure someone but she felt kinda bad for him...and he was also her boss's son and she was not about to get on her bad side.

"Huh, that does kinda make me feel a little better," Colt said

"Well, anyways we better get back to work" Maggie sighed.

"Well bartender can we get a couple of cold ones," beau said as he took a seat next to Rooster at the bar.

"Not a chance Beau," Maggie said as she checked the cash register.

"Not even for your favourite son," Colt said teasingly

Maggie just chuckled at that and handed him two beers.

"Yeah, you know what, that reminds me you still have to pay $22.00," Jackie said to Rooster as she held out her hand with a small smirk playing on her face.

"Well, you see since my mom owns this bar that means I don't have to pay," Rooster said with a cocky grin as he leans back in his chair.

"Huh, actually you guys paying for your drinks sounds pretty nice and just imagine the amount of money I would get since you're here all the time, I mean Hank alone pays for the utilities'. Maggie said

"Mom you can't be serious" Rooster gasped.

"Yeah mom, I'm pretty sure that counts as child abuse," Colt said almost terrified at the thought of losing his free beer.

"Wow, you guys really like your beer" Jackie commented

"Jackie was it?" Rooster continued before she could answer "If you notice this is a very small town, and in small towns there's not a lot to do, now since I have a very demanding job with a boss, who constantly has a pole up his ass, drinking alcohol and getting completely smashed is kinda the only thing to do".

"Oh, so I have a pole up my ass do I?," Said a very pissed Beau.

"N-no sir I was just joking," Rooster said nervously, he'll talk shit about how much of a hard ass his father is in private but unless he had a death wish he wouldn't say it to his face.

"You'd better be," Beau said threateningly. Now he knew he wasn't joking but just seeing that scared shitless look on his son's face was enough to make Beau's day.

"Well then, I'll be heading out now Rooster I expect you back at the ranch in half-hour," Beau said getting up slowly from the bar. "Colt try not to fuck anything else up ok," Beau said condescendingly. He waved bye to Maggie and Jackie, glared at the boys and left.

"Well, he seems like a very 'jolly' guy" Jackie joked.

"Oh yeah, he gives Santa a run for his money" Rooster remarked sarcastically while rolling his eyes.

Jackie giggled and Rooster couldn't help but think it was the cutest giggle he had ever heard. Rooster liked Jackie, he was kinda surprised how quickly he took a liking to her. Contrary to popular belief, he did like being in a committed relationship every once in a while. He liked the codependence and waking up next to someone in the morning. Hell, he just got out of a relationship about two months ago with his long-term now ex-girlfriend Mary.

None of his relationships has ever lasted long enough to make something out of them. His longest relationship was his most recent one with Mary. It lasted about a year and a half before she abruptly ended it by saying "You don't make me want to burn your shit" this was said after some stupid fight they had and he still had no fucking clue what she meant.

In the end, things ended between the two but they're still on good terms. He had been trying to get back in the dating game but it was hard, with his break up still raw and he was kinda bummed because he liked Mary. It also didn't help that she got into a new relationship with her ex-husband just two weeks after she ended things between them.

That brings things to now, he knew it was too early to want a relationship with Jackie but he did want to know more about her and her life. He also had to make sure that she wasn't some crazy chick that wanted to marry him after just one date (actually happened once) but who could blame her, just one look at the Rooster and you're obsessed.

"So Jackie, where are you from?" Rooster asked curiously

"Oh well, I'm from point place Wisconsin" Jackie answered as she cleaned the dirty glasses.

"Huh, how'd you end up here?" Rooster asked

"I just got tired of the small-town life and wanted to travel'' Jackie lied unconvincingly. She didn't want to tell anyone about the real reason as to why she left point place, that she got cheated on again and her so-called best friend traded in their friendship for stripper Sam. Everyone stopped giving a shit about her and the love of her life can't stand her and broke her heart so badly she doesn't think she'll ever recover. So hopefully she won't have to face the truth any time soon.

"Oh, so you went from one small town to another, if I were you I would go to New York, heard there are some good strip clubs up there," He said chuckling, but stopped when he saw a grim dazed look on Jackie's face.

"Jackie, you ok there?" Rooster asked while he clicked his fingers in front of her face.

"Huh, what? Oh yeah I'm fine, just had a bad run-in with a stripper once," Jackie said a tad startled from being brought out of her daze. She knew she shouldn't get sidetracked by thoughts of Stevens ex-wife but she can't help it. Every time someone says the word stripper she goes back to the day when Sam said "I'm Stevens wife" her heart just breaks all over again with that memory.

"Oh, shit really! what happened? Did you guys have a catfight? Was there mud involved" Rooster asked excitedly, the thought of two hot chicks fighting was too hot not to get excited about?

Even though it was a painful memory she couldn't help but giggle a little at his excitement and play into his imagination.

"Yeah we were both fighting like cats and whores, I remember I pulled her hair and she ripped my shirt-" Before Jackie could continue her teasing she was interrupted by Colt who had a pretty blonde girl hanging off his arm.

"Hey Jackie, could I get two beers to go and what do you want Heather?" Colt asked

"Shut the fuck up Colt," Rooster said his eyes never leaving Jackie, he was about to kick Colt's ass for interrupting

"What the fuck? I just walk up to you and you tell me to shut up! Damn, you're spending too much time with Dad!" Colt exclaimed.

Jackie giggled lightly and said "Okey so Colt you want two bears and Heather let me guess you want a peach schnapps"

"Damn Jackie you're getting a hold of this job" Heather gushed

"Thanks," Jackie replied as she went to go get their orders

"Well you two seem pretty acquainted with each other" Colt observed

"Oh yeah me and Jackie go way back," Heather said gleefully

*flashback*

1967

Little Jackie skipped along the footpath, humming the song 'over the rainbow' from The Wizard Of Oz. She had just seen the movie last week at the drive-in with a group of friends, well they were sort of her friends. She couldn't call them that, she was more like the kid that tagged along even when told not to. Anyway, it's not like she was there for any of them. No, she was just there for that cutie Micheal Kelso, she had developed a crush on Micheal after they met on the playground last month but that's a story for another time.

As Jackie was off in her own little wonderland, she didn't notice a little blonde girl had crossed her path.

An "Ooof" and a loud "Ow" was heard when the two girls collided.

"Ouch, that hurt you big goon" Jackie hissed as she rubbed her head.

"Hey watch it you little brat" The little girl sneered as she stood up wobbly.

"HEATHER" Yelled a very angry looking woman.

As Jackie stood up she got to take notice of the two people standing in front of her.

One of them was a little girl who looked to only be slightly older than Jackie, she had straight blonde hair that was held up in two cute braids with a little fringe growing in. She had high cheekbones, pouty lips that could challenge Jackies and sharp brown eyes that narrowed a little when she looked at her. She was also taller, leaner and more…..country looking than Jackie. She wore a light and dark purple checked shirt that was tied in around her waist and had on a grey cotton shirt with long sleeves that had white lacing around the cuff of the sleeve and the neckline. She had on black shorts and a pair of purple cowboy boots.

Behind her was a woman, Jackie guessed that she was the girl's mother, who looked to be in her early 30s. She was wearing white Denim Cuffed Capris and an off the shoulder pinup polka dot Shirt with a sweetheart neckline. She had a blonde pixie cut with a white hairband, her make-up was very pastel with light pink lip gloss, flicked upper eyeliner, matte blue eyeshadow and very soft pink blusher. She had brown eyes just like her daughter only with a little green in them.

The little girl jumped afoot when she heard the screech and she turned around to meet the scolding eyes of her mother.

"M-mom" the girl stammered out.

"Heather, how many times do I have to tell you not to call other people names" The woman scolded. She turned to look at the young girl that her daughter had yelled at "I'm sorry sweetie, Heather didn't mean that, isn't that right Heather?".

"Yeah, sorry," Heather said begrudgingly with a pout forming on her face.

"Yeah well, you'd better be! This was a new dress, you should really learn some manners" Jackie said pompously as she stuck her nose up in the air.

"Wow, you are a brat" The women muttered quietly but not quietly enough.

"Hey! Who do you think you are, I'm telling my daddy about this, you're nothing but a bunch of mean old bullies!" Jackie shouted tearfully, as she started to storm away. Everyone was so mean to her. First, her mother calls her ugly, then there were Michaels stupid friends who called her spoiled and now these strangers. Why wasn't anyone ever nice to her?.

As Jackie stormed away the woman couldn't help but feel bad, yeah sure the kid was kind of a brat but what kid wasn't? plus she only looked to be about 6.

"Hey! kid wait-up, look I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that but you gotta know you can't talk to people like that. Now what's your name?" the woman said in a gentle motherly tone as she crouched down to Jackie's level.

"J-Jackie but my full name is Jacqueline" Jackie stuttered, she was caught off guard, no one had ever really apologized for being mean to her and they certainly never asked her name. They would usually just call her mean names then leave.

"Well now, that's a pretty name. My name is Mary and this is my daughter Heather," Mary said with a slight giggle at the end as she watched as a smile immediately appeared on Jackie's face when she complimented her name.

"Mom can we go now, we're going to miss the movie" Heather wined as she pulled on her mother's arm.

"Ooooh, what movie are you seeing? I saw the 'wizard of Oz' last week" Jackie asked and even though she didn't know these people she was still an inquisitive little girl.

"The Jungle Book," Heather said excitedly.

"Awww, I haven't seen that yet, isn't it the new Disney movie" Jackie whined.

"Yep I love Disney, I've seen nearly every movie" Heather bragged.

Jackie gasped " I love Disney too, my favourite movie was Snow White but now it's Lady And The Tramp."

As the two girls chatted Mary watched on in amusement, it shocked her how quickly kids could get over stuff and go from hating each other to being best friends. Hell, she still hasn't forgiven her mother for ruining her favourite shirt and that was 10 years ago!

After about two minutes of watching the girls talking about their favourite Disney movie, houses and whatever else popped into their little heads, Mary looked at her watch and noticed the Movie was gonna start in Ten minutes.

"OK, come on Heather the Movie is about to start, Jackie it was very nice meeting you," Mary said politely as she grabbed Heather's hand.

"But Mom" Heather whined, "I wanna stay and play with Jackie."

"Heather you're the one that held your breath for so long you turned purple just to get me to take you to this movie, now come on and say bye to Jackie"

"Can I see it with you?" Jackie asked, and before Mary could answer the girls joined forces.

"Please!" They both said at the same time all while giving Mary their best puppy dog eyes and pout.

Mary signed, knowing this was gonna be a long day " OK, ok, fine but I can't take Jackie anywhere without her mom's permission"

"That's ok my mom won't mind," Jackie said optimistically "She's spending the day with Carlos"

"Well I still have to ask her, now which house is yours," Mary said sternly, she looked around at the houses trying to figure out which house Jackie's was.

"Oh I don't live here, I live down by Avery Avenue you know where all those fancy houses are," Jackie said

Heather gasped and turned to Jackie "You live in one of those big houses?" As the girls began talking they didn't see the worried expression on Mary's face.

This immediately set alarm bells off in Mary's head, Avary Avenue was on the other side of town, surely Jackie's mother wouldn't let her young daughter wander around town by herself, right?

"Jackie," Mary said in a worried tone "Are you with anyone, like a nanny or is your dad around, does your mom know where you are?"

"Um no Daddy is away on business and the nanny had the day off and mom said she didn't care where I went," Jackie said innocently not seeing a problem, which just broke Mary's heart.

She knew this had to be the norm for Jackie if she was this ok with it, but seriously! What mother says to their child that they didn't care where they went. Now Mary knew she wasn't the best mother but there was no chance in hell that she would let either of her girls out of the house without knowing who they were with and where they are.

"So Jackie you've been wandering around town all by yourself," Mary asked.

"I was at the Formans for a few hours but they had to leave to visit their grandma," Jackie said.

'Oh good at least she hasn't been just walking around all day' Mary thought.

"Well mom, can Jackie come with us to the movies?" Heather questioned.

Mary looked back at her watch and seen that the movie was about to start in five minutes, if they went now they would just miss the credits.

"OK fine," Mary said with a sigh, she knew she shouldn't take Jackie anywhere without her mother's permission but she doubted that her mother would care and at least she wouldn't be out wandering the streets alone especially when it was getting dark.

"Yay!" The two girls shouted happy they had got their way.

"OK ok calm down, now let's get going or we'll miss the movie".

As the day went on the girls became best friends and Mary got a bit more of an insight into Jackie's life. When she went to drop her home she could see through the window that Jackie's mom who's name was Pamela having some 'adult play time' on the couch with some man who was most definitely not Jackie's father. She knew that because Jackie had told her who her father was and she immediately knew him as the very well-known rich businessman who had corporations everywhere.

But she made sure that the girls didn't see it and instead asked them if they wanted a sleepover. She would make sure to have Jackie call her mother as soon as they got back to Mary's parent's house as that was where they were staying while they were in town.

"So yeah, me and Jackie have known each other for years but we sort of lost contact between 1976 to like 1978 but we're all good now". Heather said smiling happily.

"Yeah it's really great seeing you again Heather," Jackie said happy to have her real bestfriend back.

"Oh totally, I can't wait to tell mom she'll be so happy, she sees you like a daughter"

"If you guys are so close then why did you lose contact" Rooster questioned.

"Oh you know, just life and stuff got in the way, you see we were only in Point Place every once in a while because my grandparents lived there. We mostly sent letters and talked twice a week on the phone, so it wasn't the best way to stay in contact especially when we got into Highschool" Heather half lied half told the truth.

She and Jackie both knew the real reason they stop talking was because of Jackie's parents.

The rare time they took out of their 'busy' schedules of fucking the pool boy/secretary, drinking themselves to death and flying to different countries often leaving their daughter home alone and defenceless. They micromanaged Jackie's life.

Her father mostly made sure she was acting like a prim and proper young lady and made sure she was acting nothing like her mother. Jack knew what a mess his wife was and he wasn't about to let his daughter end up like that….'it reflect's badly on the family's reputation' He told her once when she asked if she could go out with Steven Hyde.

But her mother, if you can even call her that, was the most controlling and abusive person you could meet. To people on the outside, you would never think it. All people could see was the gorgeous, fun-loving Pamela Burkhart. You know what they say, you never know what happens behind closed doors.

She would tell Jackie what to wear and then scream at her if it wasn't in fashion. She would often call her horrible names and had zero regards for her well being. Pamela also had Jackie on all kinds of different diets from the age of three, people often complimented Jackie's thin figure but they didn't know the lengths Pam had forced Jackie to in order to keep her figure. By the time she was eleven, Jackie had developed anorexia and when she reached 16-17 she was bulimic all because her mother had a crazy obsession with being thin and pretty.

Even when Pam had abandoned Jackie when her father was imprisoned, she showed no remorse for her actions.

The one thing both of her parents teamed up on was who their daughter associated with, so when they found out she was talking to a 'poor country' girl…..well let's say they didn't handle it well.

They screamed and yelled all night, at one point her father got so angry he threw a vase against the wall and her mother smacked her across the face. You see, that night they didn't just find out she was best friends with a 'Dirty Hillbilly Girl' but they had also found out she had a pregnancy scare earlier that week. They demanded that she hand over all the letters that Heather wrote to her. When they had finished reading them her father had deemed Heather a bad influence and her mother had called her a whore (ironic right) and a dirty degenerate.

So that night she made her last call to Heather and cried herself to sleep.

"Well, that sucks," Colt said sympathetically.

"Anyway, here are your drinks. Sorry for the hold-up, I'm still trying to get a hang of being the server and not the served," Jackie said with an exaggerated sigh.

"Used to being a pampered princess" Rooster said jokingly.

"Oh you have no idea, I used to have two walk-in closets, Two!" Jackie screeched

"Damn someone was rich," Colt said

"Like I said you have no idea, oh! Before you go here's your bill but since Heather is an old friend her drink is on the house" Jackie said handing Colt the bill.

"Thanks Jackie, but can you do that?" Heather questioned

"Probably not, but Maggie just hired me today and I'm too cute to be fired so soon," Jackie said confidently.

"You can say that again," Rooster said smirking as Jackie blushed, she was really starting to like this guy.

"Oh Damn, I actually have to pay? I thought that was a joke" Colt whined

"Well if you don't have the money I can put it on your tab" Jackie muttered as she checked her nails, pouting when she saw she had chipped one.

"Great thanks" Colt said quickly as he took Heather's hand and ran out the door.

"You know he's never gonna pay that, right?" Rooster said bluntly as he took the last sip of his drink.

"Yeaah," Jackie said, although she didn't really care

"Well I gotta get going before Beau put the cow prodder up my ass" Rooster said

"Ok I'll see you later," Jackie said giggling.

"Later darlin'" Rooster drawled as he left.

She wasn't that bothered by the name now

Wow it's been a hot second, hasn't it?

I'm really sorry for the long delay, I wrote this chapter out twice and HATED it, and now my school started up again, I've either been too tired to write or haven't had the time it's just been really hectic, I would loved to say that I'm back and start uploading weekly but that's not that case, school is gonna take up a lot of my spare time so updates are going to be infrequent for the next 6 weeks or so.

But I am by no means abandoning either of my stories trust me, oh also if you haven't already check out my other story 'Friday I'll be over you' please do I promise if you're a Jackie and Hyde fan you won't be disappointed.

If there are any spelling or grammar mistakes I'm really sorry I'm dyslexic so I don't notice if there are any, also I'm over on Ao3.

Thanks for reading! :)
