"Mr. Walls?" Ivy spoke into the phone,"No, there's no Mr. Walls here."
"What about Mrs. Walls?" A voice spoke from the another end of the line.
"No, no Mrs. Walls either," Ivy answered, "Maybe you got the wrong number."
"Then what's holding your ceiling?" The voice said before breaking out in laughter. Ivy found out she was tricked, but she didn't become angry. She knew who the voice belonged to.
"Oh, Jack," she said sweetly.
"Yep, that's me!" Jack said cheerfully, "I fooled you again, didn't I?"
"You sure did," Ivy said gladly,"Happy to have your head back I assume?"
"You bet!" Jack answered, "How can I not after being a pumpkin headed freak for 600 years?"
"Well, I'm glad you're happy," Ivy said, her voice then becoming disappointed, "But I'm afraid I can't hang out right now."
"How come?" Jack asked.
"Well," Ivy started to answer, "It's my dad and my little sister, Cat. During the mornings, my dad hands me his list of souls. I just have to count them and make sure they're all here by simply looking for the souls on the list. Next in the afternoons, my little sister makes me play with her, threatening to tell on me if I didn't."
"No wonder Coral feels lonely," Jack noted.
"Yeah, but she has you now," Ivy put in, "And speaking of Coral, why not see her right now?"
"Well, I just got to her house earlier, but there was this sign on her door," Jack answered.
"Oh," Ivy said, "Coral usually puts that there so people will know that she's not home."
"So, where does Coral go these days?" Jack asked.
"Sometimes Coral takes a good walk in the city," Ivy answered, "Sometimes, she goes to the spa salon. Sometimes, she takes her cat to the grooming salon. Sometimes, she goes to the field."
"Well, thanks, Ivy," Jack said as he was to hang up.
"You're welcome," Ivy said before adding, "I just hope Eris doesn't hurt her feelings again."
"Who's Eris?" Jack asked.
"The goddess of discord and chaos," Ivy answered," But more like the goddess of meanness and greediness. When Coral runs into her, Eris always bullies her about her muteness."
"That's bad," Jack gasped.
"In fact, Eris does it all the time," Ivy told him, "She even did it yesterday before you showed up at Coral's house."
"Well, I'll make sure Eris learns her lesson if she does it again," Jack said, sounding like he was serious.
Ivy smiled and said, "I have always been wanting to do that. Make sure Eris pays for it good."
"I will," Jack said, "Bye." With that, Jack hung up and exited his house in search of Coral. He went to her house, but saw the same sign from before that said, "Not home. Please come later."
Jack then walked into the streets, looking for Coral. Then he heard a voice.
"Gems like you shouldn't even be in the Underworld!"
Jack then saw where it came from. In an alley, a woman was with Coral. She had blonde hair, a gap in her teeth, and wore a outfit that usually goddesses wore.
"Why don't you say something?" the woman asked before saying, "Oh, that's right, you're mute! Or precisely, you're broken!"
Jack watched in horror to how his new friend was being treated.
"Why don't you go back where you came from?" the woman taunted, "Oh, I forgot! You're banished from going back!"
Coral looked like she wanted to say something, but the woman then had her pinned against the wall.
"Where's that old head you always had with you?" the woman taunted, "You finally threw it in the trash?"
Hearing that insult made Jack's face boil in anger. Before he was decapitated, Jack was always happy, and never gotten angry at anyone. Ever. The only time he got angry was when he was decapitated.
"Excuse me?!" Jack shouted, getting Coral and the woman's attention.
"What?" the woman said confused.
"How dare you speak to her that way?!" Jack asked angrily.
The woman's face of confusion turned one of smug.
"I can speak to anyone I want," she said. With that, she immediately pushed Jack aside and left the alley.
Jack looked at Coral and crouched down. She was crying, hurt from Eris's words.
Jack got closer, removed one of his gloves, and wiped her tears away.
After putting his glove back on, Jack then took Coral's hand and started to walk her out of the alley.
"That was Eris, huh?" Jack asked.
Coral nodded to answer.
"Well, tonight, Eris is going to learn her lesson," Jack said.
Coral looked up at Jack with a worried expression. Jack knew what she gonna try to say.
"No, I'm not gonna kill her or anything," Jack told her, "Just gonna play a few tricks on her to set an example."
Coral smiled and started to calm down. Jack started to walk Coral to her house. Once they got there, Coral and Jack took a seat on the couch. Coral's cat, Fern, walked in and hopped on the couch in Coral's lap, purring as she petted him.
Seeing that Coral was still crying, Jack decided to stay with her.
Jack flicked one of the buttons on the remote and turned on the TV. He wrapped his arm around Coral's shoulders, leaning her over as he watched.
Moments later, a commercial interrupted Jack and Coral's channel. Once again, Jack's face boiled with anger upon seeing the very person who chopped off his head: The Grim Reaper.
Noticing Jack's angry face, Coral changed the channel, but the commercial kept interrupting.
"CURSE YOU, GRIM!" Jack screamed in the air. Coral turned the TV off and started to calm Jack down.
Once he did, Jack turned to Coral with apologetic look and said, "Sorry about that. Even though I got my head, I still hate Grim."
Coral nodded her head, understanding Jack's words. After the things the Grim Reaper put them both through, Coral could understand that Jack would still hate Grim right after she sewed his head back on.
Then, an idea popped into Jack's head as an mischievous smile swept up on his face.
"Oh, I got an idea!" he beamed.
Coral looked at him as if she wanted to listen.
"Have you ever seen of something called, prank calls?" Jack asked.
Coral nodded.
"Well," Jack started to explain, "Prank calls are the kind of activity I liked to do back at my old house when I cramped myself there, but I liked pulling pranks more. Prank calls are pretty funny. I can't wait to hear Grim's reaction when I prank call him."
Coral had a worried look, and shook her head.
"Why not?" Jack asked with a frown, "I prank called a lot of people, but not Grim. I know very well that it's gonna be funny. Besides, Grim is so stupid that he'll fall for anything!"
Again, Coral used sign language, trying to tell him that prank calling Grim was a bad idea.
"Oh come on," Jack said, "Grim's not even gonna know it's me that prank called him. I'm a master at prank calling."
Coral sighed in defeat as Jack pulled out a telephone and dialed the number.
"Just watch and everything will be fine," Jack told her.
A few seconds, Grim's voice was heard, "Hello."
"Good evening, sir," Jack spoke in the phone, sounding like a woman to mask his own voice. Coral started to laugh, thinking Jack's fake voice was a little funny and silly.
"How may I help you, ma'am?" Grim asked.
Jack and Coral tried to keep themselves from laughing, even though Grim couldn't hear Coral's laugh.
"I just need to ask a few questions, Mr. Reaper," Jack answered while trying to keep out his laughter.
"Ask away," Grim said kindly.
"What's the first thing you did this morning?" Jack asked.
"The first thing I did?" Grim said, mumbling in confusion, "Well, I did my routine, and next, I did my job, which everyone knows, is taking souls to the Underworld."
'Of course,' Jack thought dryly before asking in his female voice, "All right, next question: Had any of your companions did done anything annoying?"
"Well, Mandy told me to do her chores," Grim answered, "And Billy and his friend Irwin messed with me and ran off with my body!"
Jack snickered, thinking that part was funny.
"Anyways," he continued, "Next question: What's the smelliest thing you sniffed?"
"Billy's socks?" Grim answered in confusion.
Jack snickered again. "Alright, I've got two more questions and you're done. Next question: What's the fluffiest thing you've touched?"
"What kind of questions are these?" Grim asked in annoyance.
"The kind of questions I usually ask people," Jack answered, "If you answer these two questions, I'll leave you alone."
"Fine," Grim said, "The fluffiest thing I touched was Billy's cat, Milkshakes. She was nice and soft."
"Alrighty, then!" Jack said cheerfully before asking, "Final question is...Will you marry me?"
Jack burst out laughing and dropped his phone. Coral had began laughing as well, banging her hand on the ground. Fern, who walked back into the living room, heard the racket and playfully rolled her eyes at the howling laughter of her owner and her new friend.
Meanwhile, Grim had found out that he was a victim of a prank call, and had such, started shouting threats into the phone.
"Whoever you are, I'm gonna track you down, and I will find you!" Jack heard Grim's threat from his phone, "When I do, you'll wish you never played that sick joke!"
"Oh, he's still on the phone, Coral!" Jack told his friend.
Jack and Coral continued to laugh as Grim had disconnected the line.
"Did you prank call the Grim Reaper?"
Jack and Coral stopped laughing and saw Ivy at the doorway with a shocked look.
"You better believe it!" Jack told her while laughing, "You could've heard his reaction! It was priceless!"
"No one had ever prank called the Grim Reaper before," Ivy said, her shocked look turning into that of a smile," That took guts. Real guts."
"Yeah, I can't wait to do it again!" Jack said, holding up his phone.
Ivy's face turned into the look of worry, and she ran over to Jack and grabbed both of his arms to stop him.
"That's not a good idea," Ivy told him.
"I just prank called the Grim Reaper," Jack protested, "And nothing bad happened."
Ivy lets go of Jack's arms and started to talk to him.
"Look, Jack," she said, "You just got your head back and most of the monsters here are pretty intense when it comes to people pranking them. Pranking Grim and the monsters can be risky without thinking it through."
"But I can't help it sometimes,"Jack told her, "Pranking is just so funny."
"I know," Ivy said, "But remember: your pranking and trickery costed both your life and your head. So if you want to continue pulling pranks, at least be careful."
"Fine," Jack said in defeat, "I'll be careful. That prank calling Grim thing will be a one-time thing only."
"That's what I like to hear," Ivy said with her arms crossed.
"By the way," Jack said before asking, "Aren't you usually busy during these times of the day?"
"In case, if you didn't know, it's 6:30 PM," Ivy answered.
"Oh, right," Jack remembered, turning to Coral, "I have to leave now. There's one more person I want to prank."
Coral nodded her head, understanding who Jack's target was.
After Jack left, Ivy went over to Coral.
"What do you think he has in mind?" Ivy asked.
Coral answered using sign language.
"Oh, I see," Ivy said, smiling a bit.
The next day, Coral was walking through the sidewalk when she noticed familiar.
After looking closely, Coral saw who it was.
It was Eris. Looking at her, Coral could see that she was the one that Jack planned to prank.
Eris was covered in cheese and chocolate sauce, there was cream on her face, she was no longer wearing her high heels, and she had tape wrapped around her.
"I am not in the mood," Eris growled as she walked past Coral, who was snickering.
Just as she left, Coral felt a arm wrap itself on her shoulder.
"So, what do you think?"
Coral then saw Jack who was right next to her.
"Eris looks pretty funny if you ask me,"he said with a smile.
Jack then started to explain how he pranked Eris. Some monsters have told him where Eris lived, and Jack decided to start his prank there. First, he sprayed glue on the floor mat at the door, then he got some catapults and loaded them with creme pies, then he got buckets and filled them with cheese in one, and chocolate in the other. He then hung the bucket on the ceiling to the door. Finally, he got some tape and place long pieces of it at the gate so Eris could run into it.
Coral smiled, and Jack noticed it.
"I'll take that as a 'yes'," he said.
Coral continued to smile as she and Jack started walking through the city together. Coral was happy to have such a caring and funny friend like him.
