Digimon Adventure:
Digidestined of Loyalty
Episode 2

"The Birth of Greymon"

I flailed my limbs as I continued to fall along with my brother, the other kids and our Digimon partners. Stupid dinosaur sized bugs that are able to break cliffs like they were paper Mache!

"Sora!"

"Izzy!"

"TK!"

I looked over and saw that Biyomon, Tentomon and Patamon flying to their respective partners and let them grab onto a part of their body before trying to fly up. They ended up falling again since they weren't strong enough to carry their humans' weight. The next to try and save their partner was Palmon, who had wrapped an arm around Mimi and used her Poison Ivy to grab onto the side of the cliff. Again, it failed as that section came crumbling down. I really hope the others know how to swim as well as their partners since I'll be having trouble once we hit the water.

"Sota-sir!" I heard Pawnchessmon called out before I felt his arms wrapped around my waist. We continue to fall and fall and I quickly closed my eyes, waiting for the cool water to wash over me and take my breath away. To my surprise, we didn't land in water. We landed on something strangely solid.

"Wow...this is some ride?" I heard Tai stated, prompting me to open my eyes and when I did, I saw that we were on a rather colorful school of fishes. My head tried to wrap around this development but it was just as strange as the other things we've encountered so far.

"Wha- hey, look out!" shouted Matt as I heard the screech of Kuwagamon. The section of the cliff that it was still standing on broke away, sending toe beetle down towards the water.

"GO!" Gomamon commanded and we were going faster. The Digimon and the broken off parts of the cliff landed in the water, causing a large wave to rush straight towards us and then we were riding on it. Pawnchessmon kept a secure hold on me, making sure that I wouldn't go flying off from the roughness of the water. After what seemed like forever, we finally made it onto dry land. My partner helped me sit down before taking a seat beside me.

"Are you alright, Sota-sir?" Pawnchessmon asked with concern as I shook from the adrenaline rush dwindling down.

"Yeah...i'm fine. I just...need a few minutes." I assured him as I took deep breaths. "So...you aren't Kapurimon anymore?"

"No. I am Pawnchessmon now, I digivolved thanks to you."

"Eh? Thanks to me? But I didn't..."

"Just your presence was enough for me to Digivolve, Sota-sir."

"That's another thing...why are you calling me that?"

"Sota-sir? Well, it's because you're my sir." He reached up and slid his golden...watcha call it over where his eyes was and swung it upwards. Two small, yellow eyes was looking at me from within the helmet. "Would you prefer 'My Lord' or 'Sota-Lord'?"

I quickly shook my head. "No, Sota-sir is fine!"

"Thought so." he hummed, his voice colored with amusement.

"Sota, come on!" I heard Tai called out, making me look over. I could see that they were starting to leave and I quickly jumped up and headed towards them, my partner following after. Gomamon jumped into the river and swam beside us as we walked. It would make the most since now that I think about it. It was obvious that he was faster in the water than on land.

"There's trees are very beautiful." Sora observed the said plants as we continued to walk.

"Yeah," Izzy agreed. "They're really different and I thought they were subtropical."

"Whatever they are, they're aggravating my hay fever." Joe stated.

"Hey Joe," Matt began. "Is there anything you don't complain about?"

"Digital Monsters." Izzy began to speak, ignoring Joe and Matt. "Who even came up with that name?"

"Just call us Digimon. We like that." Tentomon advised him.

"I only ask because your composition isn't at all machine-like."

"Oh really?" Tentomon hummed, obviously taking those words as a challenge before sending off sparks between the two parts of his shell that hides his wings.

"Hey, watch it!" Izzy yelped, making me shake my head.

"So, Patamon, can you really fly?" asked TK.

"Of course!" He jumps into the air and started to flap his wings as hard as he could.

"Wow, that's cool!" TK stated as he watched is partner fly...or, well, try to. "But you're going the wrong way."

"I'm faster than that. Watch!" Biyomon jumped up and started to fly...but she was right beside Patamon.

"Wouldn't it be faster to walk?" asked Sora. I let out a small snort and continued to walk, ignoring what Mimi was saying to Palmon.

"Once I get back, this is gonna make one great story, yep." I heard Tai stated. "But, of course, not a single soul will ever believe me."

"That Kuwagamon back there, it was huge." Izzy piped up again.

"And he's not the only one." Tentomon told his partner.

"Ahh, nothing like the ocean." I heard Gabumon sniff the air and sighed.

"Haha! Everybody in the water!" Gomamon ordered playfully from the river, making me snort.

"Hey, let's build a giant sand castle!" TK grinned and I couldn't help but look at him with my own grin.

"I bet I can build one bigger than you!" I teased.

"You're on!"

"Wait a minute." Matt spoke up as we started to hear a faint ringing sound. "Listen, what's that?"

"A...phone?" Tai answered though it sounded more like a question.

"Either that or we're hearing things." Sora stated.

"Well, there's only one way to find out." Tai began to ran the rest of the way to the beach with the rest of us quickly following after. As we stepped foot on the beach, I could already see a very much misplaced row of phonebooths which was really, really weird.

"I told you!" Joe cheered. "All we needed was a phone, we're safe!"

Tai quickly got to the first booth, opening the door and that's when the ringing stopped.

"Why'd it stop ringing, Tai?" asked Agumon as the rest of us gathered around Tai.

"Wrong number?" Tai answered with uncertainty.

"Well, that's bizarre." frowned Sora.

"My theory is aliens." Izzy stated after a moment. "They've set these phonebooths out as a trap."

"If we find a place that delivers, let's order Pizza." Matt spoke up, ignoring Izzy.

"Whatever you get, no anchovies for me." Mimi told the other.

"The question is, what are these doing here at the beach?" Sora questioned.

"So people can call their parents for a ride home." Joe answered as if it was the most obvious thing.

"Parents? what exactly is a parents?" Gomamon asked.

Joe just stared at Gomamon before turning back to the others. "That's it, I'm outta here."

I just frowned at the eldest boy. That was rather rude of him and he was suppose to be the mature out outta all of us.

"Does anybody have any loose change?" Tai asked us.

"Why?" asked Izzy.

"Obviously I'm gonna make a phone call to get some help."

"Ah! Use my phone card. the aliens can bill me. Here." Izzy took out the said card and handed it to Tai.

"Maybe there's a quarter in one of the slots." TK scurried over to one of the other phonebooths.

I shook my head as the others tried there luck and just walked a few feet away before sitting on the warm sand with my partner sitting down next to me. One by one, the others walked dejectedly towards me with the partners as time passed until it was only Joe who kept trying. It was obvious that the phones weren't working but he just wasn't quitting.

"Very curious." observed Izzy. "Does Joe always behave like this?"

"Every single day." responded Tai.

"No matter what number or how many times he dials, those phones aren't gonna work." Matt stated as we all continued to watch.

"Well, I'm gonna keep searching for a boat or something."

I let out a sigh, shaking my head at all the talking before laying down and staring up at the blue sky, not paying any attention to the other's words. My mind was wondering to why we were here and just what are we suppose to do now.

I must had started to doze off because, the next thing I do, Joe was raising his voice, making me blink open my eyes and sat up. Everyone else was sitting in a circle and Tai was feeding some crackers to Agumon. Guess that explains why Joe had decided to raise his voice at my brother.

Then, Pawnchessmon stood, his golden helmet piece sliding down over the gap to hide his eyes.

"What is it?" I asked him.

"We have company." he stated, which made me stand. A gazer of water erupted from below the sand and began to move across and under the booths, making them go rocketing up in the sky before they crashed back to the ground. We quickly scrambled closer to the cliff and turned around.

"What was that?" questioned Tai as Pawnchessmon put himself in front of me, his spear and shield out and waiting.

"Shellmon." answered Tentomon as what looked like a shell came up out of the sand, the top of the shell spinning.

"What's a Shellmon?" Izzy asked his partner.

"Something that get's mad for no reason."

The top of the shell stopped spinning before a pink head and two pink arms came out of the shell.

"Attacked by two digital monsters in the same day." Joe whined before he tried to climb up the cliff but Shellmon was having not of it. A spray of water came shooting from the top of his head and knocked Joe back down before attacking Gomamon with the same attack.

"Digimon, attack!" commanded Agumon.

"Agumon, you show him!" Tai encouraged.

"PEPPER BREATH!"

The attack hit, causing the massive Digimon's head to jerk back. The others tried to attack but none of them could and Shellmon took this time to do is water attacker on them, sending them tumbling a few feet backwards. With the others down, It was only Agumon fighting with Tai encouraging him.

"Why is it only Agumon?" questioned Izzy as the rest of us knelt down and checked on our partners.

"We're just too hungry." Tentomon whined.

"Gabumon!" Mat put a hand on Gabumon's chest.

"I just don't have any strength." Gabumon grunted.

"Pawnchessmon..." He did my best to help my partner up.

"I'm fine, Sota-sir."

"That's it." Sora stood with Biyomon in her arms. "Agumon is the only one who had anything to eat."

I frowned before looking at Tai...who had began to run to the side, taunting Shellmon as he did. Agumon spat another fireball at him as Tai grabbed a metal pole from the wreckage of one of the phonebooths. He ran over to Shellmon and started to jam it into the Digimon but Shellmon wrapped a yellow appendage from his head around Tai and lifting him up. My heart plummeted.

"Hold on Tai!" Agumon shouted before Shellmon turned his attention to the smaller Digimon and pinning him with a foot. Shellmon sprayed the rest of us with his attack, sending us tumbling back. I heard Tai shout out in pain and I quickly got up.

"NO- TAI!"

"Digivolve!" I heard Agumon shouted before a bright light came from him, covering his form.

"Agumon digivolve to...GREYMON!"

Shellmon was sent tumbling black, his grip on my brother loosening and making him go falling to the ground, hopefully unharmed. Agumon had grown bigger, his green eyes changed to red, had a brown helmet-type thing and blue stripes over his body. The sense of familiarity came back again, making me frown in confusion.

Shellmon got up and charged at Greymon, who braced himself and caught him. Shellmon tried to use his water attack but Greymon countered with a stream of flames. He shoved his horns and lifted Shellmon in the air, throwing him and showing off his strength.

"NOVA BLAST!"

A large fireball came out of Greymon's mouth, hitting Shellmon while he was in the air and sending him onto the ocean. With a victorious snort, Greymon glowed once more before he shrank down to Agumon, though he was laying on his stomach and Tai was quick to run to him.

"Oh, you all right?" asked Tai as he knelt down, hands on the other's clawed ones. "You poor little guy, Agumon."

I let out a sigh of relief, my body loosing its tension. Everything turned out okay, thank goodness.

After our Digimon and us had our fill with food and after some talking amongst the older kids while TK and I were playing with out Digimon, we began to journey away from the beach and inland.
