10th July 1944/15th July 1935
Atlantic Ocean
HEMS Vigilance of the Royal Edinburgh Navy
The crew of the Vigilance still couldn't comprehend what they were witnessing as the flying machine circled over the destroyer. The commander of the destroyer was in quite the dilemma as he tried to figure out what his next course of action should be as the machine had an emblem that was similar to Vinland's roundel. A part of him wanted to dismiss this as an Imperial trick but he knew even the Imps wouldn't go to that level of deceit and deception. However, he couldn't just be too friendly.
That was until one of his spotters shouted that the machine was flashing a light at it, it also appeared to be flying slower than when it first appeared. The captain asked the sailor what the machine was trying to tell them.
"DESTROYER. THIS IS STRAWBERRY FIVE. WE REQUEST THAT YOU COME TO A FULL STOP. WE ARE COMING ALONGSIDE" relayed the spotter.
The commander sighed with some relief as at least he now knows the machine was relatively friendly. He then ordered his helmsman to bring the Vigilance to a full stop, they watched the machine first break off before it made a wider circle before it came back to fly parallel to the destroyer and the crew watched as the blue flying machine came lower and lower until it came down and slowly landed in the water. The crew watched as the tips of the wings folded down and came in touch with the water.
Soon the machine came as close as it dared to the destroyer. Men on the deck watched as a yellow inflatable raft was thrown out the gun ports of the machine, then followed by three men, an officer and two sailors as far as the sailors could tell from the style of the uniforms which looked similar to the uniforms the Vinland Navy had with the main difference being was the Vinland uniforms were of a darker blue. Soon the destroyer crew lowered a climbing net off the side of the ship to allow the navy personnel to come aboard.
"Thank you for not shooting at us." The officer said with a smile.
"It was the least we could do." The destroyer commander replied, rather surprised by how friendly the officer was, "Now, what is the purpose of your… visit?"
"Ah right, I am sorry to introduce myself, I am Lieutenant Allen Jones of the United States Navy" the new officer grinned, though it softened when he glanced up to the flag waving from the mast.
"Commander James McMillian of the Royal Edinburgh Navy." the Edinburgh officer replied, he paused as he glanced up to the same Atlantic Federation Flag that was waving proudly in the Atlantic wind.
"Royal Edinburgh Navy, huh? Well, that complicates things." Allen replied.
"Why is that?" James inquired curiously.
"Well, short version is, we are not in Kansas anymore." Allen replied. This stumped the crew of the Vigilance.

Washington DC
The news of the discovery of the HEMS Vigilance and other warships from member states of something called the Atlantic Federation sent shockwaves throughout both the United States of America and the Atlantic Federation. For the Americans they were shocked that they were now in a new world while the Federates were shocked to find out that there was a different nation in place of Vinland. It took a while for the shock to subside and soon talks began between the two powers but it was clear there were certain things that would be problematic.
"I am sorry but you want our armed forces to be subject to your coalition's military?" Marshall asked, his angry tone barely hidden. Meanwhile Fleet Admiral King who also in the meeting looked like he was about to make a very good impression of Mount Krakatoa.
"Yes, that way, we can coordinate the movement of the army better." The Atlantic Federation Army General replied, a bit surprised by the hostility coming from the American Chiefs of Staff.
"No." King uttered angrily, "I will not let my navy be subjugated under any foreign command."
"I agree," Arnold nodded, "We may have an agreement to give you support in your war. We will not let our armed forces be subject to your command."
"What? This is foolhardy! How are we supposed to fight the war if you are not part of the Federation's military?" A Federation Admiral barked however he lost his nerve as King glared him down.
"We will, but not as a subset of your military but as an allied army." Marshall replied, "Furthermore, there are parts of the United States Military, you have absolutely no experience in."
"What do you mean, your military is almost the same as ours beside the lack of ragnite." The Federal Army General said.
"General Darlan, may I remind you, what branch I am head of?" Arnold asked.
The general paused as he looked at Arnold then glanced over to Marshall as he tried to understand Arnold's question as far as he can tell they were part of the same branch as they wore the same uniforms.
"It appears you have forgotten. General Darlan, I will remind you, I am in command of the United States Army Air Force which I remember correctly is not the biggest air force, it is the only air force in this world." Arnold said as a smirk grew on his face, "And I can bet my bottom dollar, you have the slightest clue as to how to use my men and machines the best way possible."
That shut down any more arguments as General Eisenhower, whom everyone on the American side already see as the Commander of Chief of the American Europa Expeditionary Force, said, "As you can see we're willing to fight with you, but not under you, if you aren't happy with that, I guess we'll just wait until the Empire is at our doorstep to intervene."
It became rather apparent to everyone in the Federation Staff that the Americans weren't going to give an inch to them in the slightest...
And with some delay, here is Chapter 2 for Unexpected Reinforcement. It appears the Americans are getting into the fight but not in the way the Atlantic Federation was expecting.
