Chapter two – Attack
"Agent McGee, Director?"
Leon and Tim both stood up
"Yes how is he?"
"Fine, he is now stable. But that was a close call."
"Go on?" Vance sensing that the other shoe was about to fall
"The bleeding was minor..."
McGee took in a deep breath urging for the surgeon to continue
"I have bagged everything as I think you will need to investigate."
"Sorry investigate?"
"Yes he was poisoned because I don't think it was the alternative, did he seem off this morning?"
McGee nodded
"Well something he ate or drank I think caused it, but I have taken samples in readiness"
Tim was fighting back tears
"Thanks .Can I see him?"
"Yes but lets just take it easy today, he is going to need rest." McGee nearly laughed out loud.
And followed the surgeon out to Gibb's room.
"He is asleep now" said the nurse who had looked like she had just done ten rounds in the ring.
"Find whoever did this" Whispered the surgeon
"Do you know Gibbs?" asked Vance as the surgeon stepped away from McGee who had gone to Gibbs bedside to offer some comfort.
"Yeah he found my daughter's killer and well he went above and beyond."
Vance nodded and thanked the surgeon.
"What now McGee"
Torres and Bishop had now arrived
"Sorry we took the van back to base"
"Sure, its fine. But we now have a case." McGee said as he took them out of Gibbs room and closed the door.
"We are going to need agents 24/7 here, Nick you and I are going to Gibbs house. As for you Ellie can you get the surgeons samples to Kasie and Jimmy and process Gibbs's desk."
The two agents were ready, but still looked confused
"He was poisoned, I think someone is trying to kill him, and you said earlier that there was no body?"
"Yeah we got there and nothing" Bishop replied
"No-one else was there at all" Nick added
"Strange, okay let's follow that up."
"What do you want me to do?" Asked Vance
"What meeting did I get you out of?" McGee suddenly asked
"I'm not going back to that…"
"No I didn't mean that.."
"Oh it was intelligence"
"Anything in particular?" Asked McGee
"Okay I shall go back and find out" reading McGee like a book
"Nick I will meet you in five out front."
"Breathe McGee, just breathe." Vance said as they left to go find who was attacking their team.
McGee went back in to the room and spent a few mins with Gibbs, before finding two marines stationed outside
"Once a marine.."
"Always a marine." Replied the surgeon who handed McGee his notes.
"Thanks for this."
