Ahsoka only began to wake when Gambit had a horrible landing. She barely remembered what happened after that. Only that she was dragged by her shoulders to be thrown on the ground. She did note it was fairly comfortable for being dragged across the floor and thrown to the ground by her sleeves.

She could hear Anakin similarly be thrown on the ground.

She heard the deal.

Their captor got money, she distantly noted, and she heard something about a debt.

Bare hands grabbed her, shooting pain through her body. Not enough to overcome whatever that drug was.

She barely felt Gambit's footsteps even once she forced herself to focus.

She could feel the current pirate holding her perfectly fine. They had no skill in walking lightly.

Both of them were dragged for at least five minutes.

Ahsoka was really unsure if that was what actually happened.

That kriffing drug.

Skyguy groaned after they were tied up, energy ropes tying them to the ceiling and shackling their legs against the wall.

By that time, the drug had cleared Ahsoka's system fairly well. Enough that she could notice Skyguy was not being coherent.

So she pretty much ignored him and fell into meditating.

Ahsoka and Anakin barely had to make eye contact to both get battle-ready when the door opened.

This was their chance to escape.

Seeing that bastard tied up and being thrown there... surprised them, to say the least.

"Enjoy your stay," one of the pirates sneered.

The door shut.

The bounty hunter muttered something that sounded colorful in a different language, flipping to a standing position with his legs and hands still tied.

"Well, this is awkward."

"Gee, I wonder why?" Anakin glared at him. Something about him seemed familiar for some odd reason. Familiar in ways more than knowing this was Gambit, the guy everyone with ears knew about. "I guess trusting pirates backfires."

He did not reply. Under his breath, Anakin could hear counting. He was starting to move his arms to the front of his body, going faster than Anakin could.

Annoying.

"I'm surprised they didn't kill you." Snips was back to mediating, the brief break not affecting her. Obviously, since she was his student.

"They would've. I don't hate Jedi that much." Ah. That explained it.

"It obviously worked out wonderfully." He didn't answer, an energy rope suddenly forcing his hands to the top of the cell. Exactly like Ahsoka and Anakin.

"It did. My plans always work. It'as just a bad plan."

"Couldn't you have just avoided them?" Why did he need to bring Jedi in for some small-time pirates? Why did he have to do this?

"I could have. I take it you haven't spent much time in my job."

Oh, he knew. Pirates could be very bad after long enough. They could really be stronger than most people think. Not on their own, but when they combined forces with someone else, they could turn from a nuisance to a serious threat quickly.

"What did the legendary Gambit do to get pirates in the middle of nowhere wanting you dead?"

"I'm no fool. You law enforcement, chevalier." Not like Anakin was arguing, but Gambit was weird. If they could get without dying, he would need to make sure the Republic put him in prison. Taking out two Jedi so smoothly was no small feat.

"Chevalier?"

"He means Jedi," Anakin said to Ahsoka's question. It had been a while since he had to keep track of two languages, but on Tatooine, everyone knew Huttese and Basics. A lot of people spoke like it too. Anakin had been four before he learned they were two separate languages.

The rest was inference.

"Impressive, monsieur." A bit of confirmation. Not really.

For all they knew, he was calling them bantha fodder.

That one, monsieur, was a bit harder to figure out. Anakin gave up immediately after considering a masculine form of Jedi or an insult.

Silence fell for quite some time. It had been fifteen minutes before Snips finally broke it. "So… what language is that?"

Anakin barely listened for the answer. Snips was obviously really bored, but Gambit was no idiot.

"French."

Oh.

That was… useless anyway because Anakin had never heard of it. And by the looks of her, neither had Ahsoka.

"French. Where's that from?"

"The same ancestry as Basics. Just change less through the years, petite." Anakin rolled his eyes at his dramatics.

Snips seemed to actually be interested. He was proud she was gathering information so well.

"What ancestry? I've never heard of it."

"It's not something you hear about, being the most spoken language in the galaxy. I can't say I know the finer details, it is not my area of expertise."

"I take it bounty hunting is?"

"Not that either. I wanted my name to get out. Makes other jobs easier."

'Get his name out'? Anakin tried to not look as disgusted as he felt. He failed, but Gambit did not look at him. What a nice and valid reason for killing and imprisoning people for money.

"Th—what are you doing?"

He was using the little slack he had to move as high up as possible. Tilting his head back… movements in his mouth…

"You had a lockpick this whole time?" Anakin shouted.

"I come prepared," he muttered, the small stick getting inside the machinery keeping him stuck to the ceiling. With his teeth. Anakin could have obviously done the same, but whatever. Next time he would remember to have a long needle in his mouth at all times.

He would probably swallow it and kill himself.

So never mind.

Gambit rolled through his landing, the electrical current disrupted.

"Want to lend a hand?" Snips asked like Gambit was going to actually help them. They were threats to him; they were barriers to his escape; they were Jedi and he was a criminal.

Gambit spat the needle out hard enough to hit the top of Anakin's energy rope, breaking its connection. He had no time for amazement, as that meant he fell two meters to the ground.

"That's… you sure your specialty isn't bounty hunting?"

"Certain, chevalier." In the two seconds Anakin spent blinking and looking at Snips, Gambit was completely out. "I'm a thief."

"Are you going to help us too or do you plan on leaving us here?" Anakin was asking an honest question. He was curious.

"I think you know the answer." Anakin nodded. The pirates seemed pretty good. They would be getting out together or not at all. After all, Jedi do not hold grudges.

While Anakin floated his Padawan down, Gambit managed to undo the lock by some very quick hacking.

He had no other way to explain how the door opened without any damage.

"How did you do that?"

Instead of answering, he motioned for them to go silent.

Two guards stepped into their view. Without a pause, Anakin and Ahsoka each slammed one into the ceiling.

"Remind me not to get on you bad side."

"Too late," Snips replied as they walked over the unconscious bodies. Gambit chuckled tensely. "Thanks to you, we were unconscious. You know the way out of here?"

"Uh-huh." He sounded distracted as he examined the hallways. "But it not our first concern."

Anakin nodded. Good thinking. "We'll never get out without our lightsabers. I'm guessing you know where they are?"

"They got my stuff there too," was his only reply as he ripped forward at a breakneck speed. Not too fast for Anakin but way faster than he had ever seen a non-Force-user human go for long. Besides some clones, but they were bred for that.

Just another thing to add to the list of things that made Gambit so dangerous.

Ahsoka took the rear, her senses stronger than the humans.
