Chapter 2: Understanding
"THEY WHAT?"
Erasa quickly put her hand on Himari's mouth to stop her screaming. After all, the whole school didn't need to know every detail of her best friend's love life.
Himari nodded her head, making Erasa understand that she won't be screaming anymore. Once the bubbly blonde lowered her hand, the brunette looked towards the baseball field and then at Erasa "That explains what she spent the last ten minutes hitting homerun after homerun. Sharpner's face is blank."
Erasa shook her head, looking towards the track where Gohan's been doing pushups for the last half an hour "How isn't he tired? Who would have thought that Gohan could do sports. If he wasn't Videl's boyfriend, I'd make sure he'd be mine."
Himari snorted and shook her head "She would kill you. They're clearly blowing off steam. What the hell happened between them?"
"I don't know. I was going to Videl's on Saturday to check on her after the whole 'Saiyaman being shot in the head' thingy. I saw Gohan walking in the street with his hands in his pockets and red eyes. I tried to call him but he didn't hear me or something. Then I ran to Videl's and the butler told me she was in her room. I tried to see her but she had the door locked and I heard her sobbing. I waited it for her for like two hours then I left."
The brunette fixed her hair in a ponytail and took a big inspiration "There's something big going on. And you and I have to find a way to bring them back together. I'll see you after tennis practice. And don't you have a cheerleading practice? The interschool games are in less than a month."
Erasa sighed dramatically and packed her stuff. She waved her friend good-bye and headed towards the lockers to change. She saw Gohan on her way there, switching to sit ups, still not being tired. Damn this was going to be complicated.
It's been almost ten days since the events of the Great Saiyaman. Therefore, it has been ten days since Videl and Gohan's fight. And since this day, the Great Saiyaman didn't make any appearance. Everyone assumed he had to be hospitalized due to his injury, while some haters claimed he got afraid. Some even said he fled the country. But then again, he got shot in the head. Give the superhero some time to heal; after all, he's human. Or so it appears.
But then one day, he proved them wrong. He knew that Videl didn't have the ability to fly and a building was on fire and she needed help. Whether she liked it or not. And she wasn't strong enough to open the valve releasing water from the storage tank. A steel tank that surely would burn her hands the instant she would touch it. Faking an injury or not, he couldn't let her get hurt. His conscience would kill him.
But of course, the instant he tried to help, she started yelling at him. He ignored her for the moment, seeing as there was people that needed help. Easily, he punched the water tank, leaking water to put out the fire, stopping her from touching the burning valve just in time before she injured both her hands. He then flew inside and helped a mother and her child escape the fourth floor; then, he thought it was time to help Videl. He knew she would go down the fire escape and viewing the state of the building, it was suicide.
And he was right. But he was faster than her. And well, he could fly. Ignoring her punches that didn't even wince him, he held her and helped her reach ground safely.
And the instant they reached ground, she started screaming at him "You get your filthy hands off of me. And for the last time, your help here is not needed. So back the hell out."
He had it coming, he knew it. And he nodded. She looked at him, not understanding what he did, and he sighed "Okay. I'll back off."
And he flew away.
She hated him. She hated this guy. Did he really think he could get away with this? Okay, maybe she was too angry to not pay attention to the intonation in his 'I', but get a replacement to play his game? As if she wouldn't notice the difference in their posture or their voices. Or the different poses. Damn it, she hated him.
And he had the nerves to come to class, sit next to Erasa, and live on with his life as if he didn't do anything. Didn't he understand that the issue was in the costume? That she couldn't stand to see it because it reminded her of his lie? The issue wasn't with him, as in his presence. It was that this goofy costume reminded her that he didn't trust her enough to tell her the truth.
What was he afraid about? Why didn't he trust her? Was he afraid that she would tell the world about him? Was it because her father told the world that they were tricks? She saw him in plain sight, flying. He even held her in his arms while flying. His muscular, warm arms; how she missed them. No, no. Focus Videl. You hate him for lying to you. Now's not the time to miss him.
So why is it this hard for her to forget him? She knew it's been twenty days, but for a two months relationship, it should be more than enough, no? Maybe she needs closure. And she definitely needs advice. But there was no way in hell she would talk to Erasa about this; seeing as the latter had been pestering her to get back with her ex-boyfriend. A best friend who advises her friend to get back together with her ex, you don't see that every day.
No, Erasa was a no. But Himari could work. Even though she was friends with the bubbly blonde, she won't tell her about this if Videl told her to keep it between them.

"So, you want me to convince you that breaking up with the perfect guy in school was a good idea?"
Videl could feel the sarcasm in Himari's voice, and needless to say she wasn't happy about it. She rolled her eyes and looked at her friend "Look. I know you think I made a mistake but trust me, I know what I'm doing."
The brunette rose an eyebrow at her friend, not convinced "Do you? Because girl, you're gonna have to convince me. Cause the way I see it, you ended things with a guy who was crazy about you and he became your friend not because of your status or anything, just because he met the real you. If you want my opinion on this, I suggest you clear any issues you have with him, because I know it's not gonna be as important as that. What made you talk to him in the first place was the fact that he saw you as Videl, not Mr. Satan's daughter. That's gotta count for something."
Videl looked at her, waiing; and the instant Himari finished her sentence, Videl made her statement "He lied to me. To my face. Countless of times. He hid things from me while I asked him straight about them. I became friends with him because he was an honest person. Where is the honesty in lying? How can I trust him if he lied to me all this time?"
The tennis player held her friend's hand and smiled at her "You ask him why he did that. Everyone has secrets. We usually think that we have to share everything with our loved ones, but we all know that's not true. They are a lot of things you don't tell Erasa, and they are things I don't tell Haru. I'm not saying you shouldn't talk about this stuff, but what's amazing when you're in a relationship, is that you have all the time you need to talk about this. When the time's right, both parties will sense it and talk about this or that."
The crime-fighter looked at her friend in her eyes, a sad look on her face "And what's gonna tell me he's not gonna lie to my face again?"
Himari smiled at her, squeezing her hand "If you don't have trust, then you don't have anything. Look, I don't know what happened, but I know for sure that Gohan isn't someone who would lie without a valid reason. My intake on this is to talk to him, instead of fighting him. Maybe he had a good reason, or maybe he wanted to tell you but he didn't feel it was the right time and you discovered it earlier. You can't know until you ask him. But I know that if you don't talk to him, it's gonna eat you alive. Because I know you still care about him, and I know for a fact that you're the most curious person on this planet and that there's more to this story and you won't sleep until you know."
Videl chuckled and shook her head, thinking. Then, she faced her friend again "But what if he had the opportunity to tell me many times but didn't. Doesn't that mean that he doesn't want me to know?"
Himari smiled lightly as she got up, ready to leave for her tennis practice "Or because when you tell a lie for too long, it's hard to find a way to tell the truth without hurting the people around you. Stop trying to find excuse to convince yourself that you made the right decision, when your heart knows it isn't. I'll see you later Videl. Call me if you need anything."
Videl nodded understandingly and got up, getting ready to go home and think about this situation.

Bulma looked sadly at her godchild while he was talking with Yamcha, thanking him for all his help for the past few days. Who would have thought that Gohan would had the hardest relationship of them all? And she included herself in this study; she who was seeing a Prince of an extinct alien race who only had training in mind.
The hybrid turned to his godmother and smiled at her, removing the watch from his hand "Here, take it. Thank you for repairing the helmet. Keep it here, I don't Goten to play with it and break it."
Bulma smiled at him and nodded in understanding, knowing very well that Goten could easily break the ornament if he wasn't careful enough.
While the three adults were talking about this and that, Gohan's phone chimed and he read a message from Erasa "Hiya Gohan! If youre in the city and dont have anything planned, Sharpner and I are going to the food court. Waiting for ya! See you :)"
He smiled and reply before he excused himself to go and find his friends.
"GOHAN! I'm here. Hey, I'm so happy you could come. What are you doing in the city?"
Gohan smiled as he hugged the cheery girl and looked around him "Hey, I've actually been visiting someone near here. Where's Sharpner?"
Erasa sighed dramatically, a hint of mischief in her eyes "He bailed on me last minute. Something about a girl accepting his diner invitation. If you want, I can call Videl and let her know we're here. She should be done with practice."
Gohan felt a drop of sweat escaping his forehead as he started waiving his hands in every direction "No, no. I'm good. And if you don't want to hang out with me, I'd totally understand."
Erasa chuckled as she dragged Gohan towards the food stands "Nonsense. What do you wanna eat? And please don't eat the whole food court supply."
Gohan chuckled and nodded and they both started eating.
After five burgers, three sandwiches, three barbecue platters and an endless amount of fries, Gohan patted his stomach, satisfied with his meal. Erasa chuckled at him and rolled her eyes at him "High metabolism my ass. You my friend are really special. Can I ask you something?"
The half-Saiyan chuckled in embarrassment, scratching the back of his neck and looked at his friend "Sure, anything."
He would soon regret his answer. Himari had told Erasa everything Videl told her, and both girls were more than determined to get to the bottom of this mystery, and it was Erasa's turn to take action "What happened between you and Videl? Why did you lie to her?"
Gohan's face went blank and he looked at the blonde girl "Umm… it's nothing really."
"It can't be nothing if she's this angry at you. Come on Gohan, you can trust me. I won't say a word but I need to help my friend."
Gohan lowered his head, finding his shoes very interesting at the moment "I can't tell you, trust me. It's better like this. It's my fault, I shouldn't have lied to her. And I don't want you to take sides, I swear."
Erasa nodded sympathetically, noticing the down look on her friend's face. She then looked behind him and waved and the half-Saiyan paled when he saw Videl coming with Himari.
The high schoolers reached the table and Gohan quickly got up, ready to leave "Hi guys. Thanks Erasa for the meal, it was really nice. I'll see you tomorrow."
He quickly took his jacket and prepared himself to leave, not noticing Videl's eyes analyzing him.
She quickly noticed the absence of his watch as he put on his coat and left the group. Himari winked at Erasa and asked "What was he doing in the city? Doesn't he live in the mountains?"
Erasa continued the charade, paying attention to Videl's reaction "I texted him after Sharpner bailed on me. He told me he was visiting someone in the region so he came. How was practice? Are you ready for the games?"
Videl ignored the rest of the conversation, not at all convinced by it. Gohan could fly and she was sure he was faster than what he let show, so he could have come specifically when Erasa asked him. He knew no one in the city, so what was he doing here? She started nodding at her friends, showing them that she was interested in their conversation, but he mind kept wandering towards a certain superhero who was clearly hiding a lot of things from her. And she didn't like that at all.
Everyone was cheering as the Orange Star High School sports teams were winning their respective games. The only teams that had lost their games so far were the water polo and soccer team, but not by much. And the swimming, basket-ball, rugby, tennis and boxing teams had all win their matches. The last game was the baseball, and the OSHS team was leading, since Videl was pissed every time she saw Gohan in the crowd.
Why did he even come? She knew it was mandatory, but he lived in the mountains, he could have been excused. But no, mister had to come to cheer, more likely to piss her off.
And another homerun. It was the third time Videl was on the bat, and it was her third homerun. She even struck out two hitters when she was the pitcher. She really was angry. And what made her angrier was that stupid watch of hers that had to ring during the games.
She excused herself and left the game, and the cheerleading teams quickly came on the field, giving time for the OSHS team to reorganize themselves.
Gohan kept a close look at her Ki, not wanting her to get hurt. Even though he stopped appearing as the Great Saiyaman, he would still monitor, just in case.
He looked at the field, as the students took their positions, but his phone chimed and he saw a message from Bulma "Kiddo, Yamcha can't come to help, he's at Roshi's. And it looks like the thugs managed to escape and there's a car chase. Do you think you can help catching them? You can fly faster than the police cars."
Gohan cursed under his breath and left the stands. Surely in all this commotion, no one would pay attention to his absence. He quickly located her Ki and felt it going very fast and he transformed into a Super Saiyan and left. Guess people will see the Golden Fighter after months of absence. Just perfect. His luck couldn't get worse.
He quickly flew towards the scene and saw Videl's copter following a truck. Then he approached it and actually saw Videl standing on the door, ready to jump, while someone else was piloting her jet.
Was she crazy? Did she really intend to jump? She could get killed.
And she jumped.
And she landed right on top of the car. This girl was amazing, nothing seemed to stop her. Focus Gohan, not the time. He flew next to the car and saw Videl entering by the window, kicking the gun from the thug's hands. She then punched him, knocking him unconscious.
But it was a restraint place, and she couldn't really move. And then she had a gun held to her face. She noticed a thug hiding in the trunks and he pointed a gun at her. Then the car started going south.
She looked outside and saw the Golden Fighter flying next to them, and the thug clearly lost control of the car, surely caught by surprise by the flying superhero.
Wait. Flying? They were people other than Gohan who could fly? But wait. The hero was wearing the same hoodie Gohan had when she saw him in the podiums. Could they be the same person? But Gohan had black hair, how was that possible? Now's not the time Videl!
She quickly payed attention to her surroundings and noticed that the thug behind her had disappear. Actually, he was flying. And the Golden Fighter handed him to a police car that was following them.
She then saw him wave at her, motioning at her to get down, and he then broke the glass and held the driver by his hand "Stop the car. You lost. It's over."
The robber looked at the road then smirked "No way in hell. I'll kill you both with me."
And he decided to accelerate, heading towards a cliff.
He really thought it was a good idea. Videl looked at the superhero who seemed to wait for the cliff to appear, and he faked a yawn. Then, when the road ended, she closed her eyes and waited for the downfall. But it never came. She looked outside and saw they were flying.
Okay so this fighter could fly and could lift off cars. What else? Shoot lasers from his eyes? Then Gohan decided to send a Ki attack from his finger, piercing the wheels. Okay so, not from his eyes, but hands. Noted.
Once they landed back, the police quickly rushed and arrested the driver. Gohan made a quick Ki swipe to the truck, making sure no one else was hiding in a crate, and he prepared himself to fly away.
Just as he prepared to take off, Videl called him "Hey! Wait. Thanks for helping us."
Gohan looked at her, very much surprised by her reaction. She hated his help, so what in Dende's name happened. But then, he got his answer "I prefer the doofus costume though. You're way too cocky in this one. And blonde's really your thing."
People told him he was smart, but obviously, he wasn't very clever "I could pull off blonde. I look better than my dad."
And then he noticed his mistake. He quickly began sweating as she looked at him with killer's eyes and tried to run away. But she had good reflexes and caught him by his collar. But she wasn't very smart either and she found herself flying.
She yelped and quickly embraced him, afraid of falling and he flew away from the police and landed in farther plain. Once they reached the ground, he looked at her and, she slapped him.
A strong slap that he surprisingly felt. But so did she "What the? What are you made of? Steel?"
He gulped, passing his hand on his cheek "That hurts you know? Why did you do that for?"
She glared at him, eyes shooting daggers "Did I tell you to stop coming? AND DON'T SEND A REPLACEMENT. I want you out of my life. So this means, stop coming to crime scene. In every possible costume. And stop sending your friend, or whoever that is. Stop doing everything related to me. Everything that can remind me how much of a liar you are."
Vegeta and his father told him many times that being a Super Saiyan made them more cocky. He never really believed it. But now, he did "You have some nerves calling me a liar. You always said you hate liars, yet you have no problem keeping some of them in your life. You only hate the ones you can't understand, or that were smarter than you."
He knew it was a mistake. It wasn't like him at all. But his pride couldn't allow it. And well, he was still transformed and boy was his father right, he really gets cocky in this form.
She looked at him, ready to punch him. And she did. She got hurt but she didn't care, she relieved her frustration "You are a jerk. How dare you say that? The people in my life are more righteous that what you could ever be. Don't ever say things like this about my friends."
He looked at her and rolled his eyes before her reverted back into his old self. He sighed and looked at her, before he removed his jacket and handed it to her "Your shirt is torn. Wear this so no one sees you. I don't think you want the attention. And sure, I'll get out of your life. I won't even talk to your friends. But I guess you should know that some things are not as they appear to be. You should pay more attention to the things around you."
And with that, he lifted off and left.
She looked at him, still trying to process how in Kami's name he was able to change his hair and eyes colors like this. She then looked at her shirt and noticed a cut near her chest, revealing her stomach and a little more, and she wore his jacket before she looked around her, ready to leave.
But wait. Where was she anyways? And her copter was with the police. Damn it Gohan. She hated him.
0o0o0
Videl tried her best to avoid Erasa. The latter had prepared a scolding of her likings ever since Gohan stopped hanging out with them, and the blonde girl knew it was Videl's doing.
But the crime-fighter couldn't take it anymore. What did he mean by 'some things are not as they appear to be'? Was someone really lying to her and she didn't know? But who?
Then, she looked at him from afar, sitting under a tree and reading a book. He could fly, send lasers from his hands, hold busses and trucks, change his hair color. What else could he do? All these things she thought were tricks were actually true. But how?
She saw him look in her direction, as if he knew she was looking at him. He waved from afar and smiled lightly before he took his phone and answered it as he left his spot.
She battled the urge to go to him and tell him to explain himself. But her pride wouldn't allow her. Instead, she saw him from afar, laughing on the phone, as if everything was alright.
But what made her angrier than ever, was the brunette that hugged him at the end of school day. Who was she? Why was Gohan this friendly with her? And was that Bulma Briefs that just hugged him? And they all left together. What other mysteries is Gohan hiding from her?
Her mind was working like crazy until she reached her house. She greeted the butler and continued to think, not noticing her father calling her. She then felt someone put his hand on her shoulder and she quickly held the hand and got into a stance but saw her father smiling at her "Easy sweet pea. What's going on?"
She looked at her father and smiled at him "Sorry dad. My mind's somewhere else. Something my classmate told me."
The martial art champion smiled back "Nothing your old folk can't help with. Tell me."
Videl nodded and told her father what Gohan told her. Omitting certain details such as that her life was in danger, she explained to him how her former boyfriend did all these tricks in front of her. She knew that her father didn't really like Gohan, with him being a nerd and all these stereotypes, but she never thought he could go blank at his accusations. The world champion already argued a lot with Videl once she told him she was dating, but she had won this round and he complied. But then, he was over the moon when they broke up. Was she really that bad at reading people? Did her father really know Gohan was a liar but didn't tell her so she would discover it on her own? She only hoped her father wouldn't go and kill him, that if he could, considering everything Gohan could do.
But then, she didn't expect at all what her father would tell he "Videl, pumpkin. We need to talk."
She was wrong. When she thought that her world crumbled around her when she discovered the truth behind the Great Saiyaman's identity, she couldn't be more wrong. Now, her world crumbled around her.
She looked at her father, eyes still wide "YOU LIED! How could you do this to me? You lied to me my whole life. You lied to the whole world. Why didn't you tell me this? If I didn't tell you about Gohan, you would have kept lying to me?"
Mr. Satan saw his daughter walking back and forth in the room, and he could see the gears in her mind working "Videl, I'm not telling now because of his accusations. I told you because you're accusing him of being a liar while I know he isn't. I recognize the boy the instant I saw him. And how many Gohan's do you think they are out there?"
The crime fighter faced her father, tears falling "I need to know everything. Now!"
0o0o0
She had messed up. She messed up pretty bad. She needed to apologize to Gohan and fast. She was so wrong about everything. She couldn't believe her father. How could he do this to her? She was so angry at him but he could wait. This discussion could wait. Gohan's couldn't.
She didn't care if it was the weekend. And she didn't care that she went to his house uninvited. She needed to see him and apologize. While she was still angry at him that he lied about Saiyaman, she had yelled at him when she was at wrong. But for her defense, how was she supposed to know that her father lied to the whole world seven years ago and that he didn't defeat the weird bug-like monster Cell? And that it was actually a ten years old boy that had saved the world.
But then again her father was sent flying out of the ring in merely seconds. And she was a fighter, she should know better than his 'I slipped' excuse. Just how dumb was she? Is she really this much in the dark? Are there more things she didn't know about?
She was thinking way too much that she didn't even notice that she had arrived. Did two hours really pass this fast? Just how fast could Gohan fly?
She landed and smiled at the cozy house. Compared to her huge mansion, Gohan's house could be considered the size of two rooms. But it was nice, just enough for the small family. And she loved the familiar air it had. It made her miss the times where her life was simpler.
She knocked on the door and a middle-aged woman, who she assumed would be his mother, opened the door, a kitchen towel in her hand "Hello, how can I help you?"
Videl smiled at her, noticing Gohan had the same black eyes as his mother, and bowed respectively "Hello Mrs. Son. I'm Videl. Is Gohan here? I need to talk to him."
Chi-Chi quickly rose an eyebrow at her "So you're the girl that called my boy a liar and trickster. He's not home. I'll let him know you passed."
Videl could sense the hostility emanating from the woman. But then again, who could blame her? She was right. She did call Gohan all these things, and while being at wrong. She looked at the matron and smiled politely "I'm sorry. I actually came to apologize to him. If you don't mind, can I wait for him outside? It's really important."
Chi-Chi could see the sincerity in the girl's eyes and couldn't but smile at her "Call me Chi-Chi. You can wait for him inside if you want. I'm gonna call him, he shouldn't be too far. GOHAN! COME BACK RIGHT NOW MISTER! YOU HAVE TEN SECONDS. Tea or juice my dear?"
Videl chuckled at the woman, and smiled warmly at her while Chi-Chi turned her attention towards the woods.
Merely seconds later, a child could be seen coming out of the woods, jumping excitedly and laughing "Yey, big brother. I win. I'm faster than you."
Chi-Chi rolled her eyes and called the little boy "Goten, where are your manners? And where's your brother?"
The boy in question appeared a second later, holding a girl on his back "Goten. How many times do I have to tell you to not run this fast when Lime's here. She can't run as fast as us."
Goten jumped excitedly in his place while Gohan helped the girl get of his back. Then he froze. He looked at his mother, prepared to get a scolding for something he didn't know he did. Then he saw Videl standing next to her. And she was sad. Very sad.
His trail of thought was cut short by his mother "Where we you mister? And this wasn't a way to hold a young lady. Lime dear, I hope your back's okay."
Lime, a brunette of average height with freckles and very green eyes, smiled at Chi-Chi and put her hand on Gohan's shoulder, making a certain black-haired girl very jealous "Don't worry Chi-Chi. It was better than being left out in the woods. Gohan turned blank when you called and he told me to jump without thinking."
Lime then looked towards Videl and smiled at her, extending her hand "Hi, I'm Lime."
Videl shook the brunette's hand, not wanting to be impolite "Hi, Videl. Nice to meet you."
Turns out Lime was the same as Erasa as both girls liked to squeal very high "Kami. It's so nice to finally meet you. Gohan's been going on and on about you. Gohan why didn't you tell me she was this cute? Beautiful isn't enough, you need to get more accurate."
Videl's face couldn't get redder but Gohan beat her to it and he looked at his friend "Lime, that's enough I guess. Hey Videl, what are you doing all the way here?"
The crime fighter shook her head, hoping to calm her face a little "I wanted to talk to you about something. But I see you're busy, so I'll talk to you another time. It's my fault, I should have called."
Lime looked at both teens and rolled her eyes "Non-sense. He's not busy or anything. You can go to the clearing to talk. I'll play with Goten in the meanwhile. Come on squirt, I've seen a very cool lizard going in this direction."
The small child started jumping and run in said direction while Lime chuckled and waved the teens good-bye. Chi-Chi chuckled and told Gohan to be back by diner before she went inside the house, leaving both teens alone.
They both looked at each other, clearly uncomfortable, and Gohan talked first "Sorry about that. Follow me?"
Videl nodded and they made their way to the clearing.
0o0o0
To say it was breathtaking was an understatement to the beauty of this place. The water was so clear they could see the bottom of the river, with all the fishes swimming in every direction. The cascade made a sound that, associated with the sound of the birds, made an amazing music. And the large trees gave an amazing shade under which you could sit all day and see the beauty of this place. And there was a huge number of various fruits making the place look a twenty-four colors palette.
She looked around her, mesmerized by the beauty of the place. She knew the mountains was stunning, but this was something else. Now she understood why Gohan lived most of his life here. It was so relaxing, you could forget all your worries in an instant.
He looked at her and chuckled, now realizing how city people never saw places like this "So, like this place?"
She looked at the trees, noticing the various fruits "It's amazing. If I were you, I'd spent all my days here."
"I actually do. As soon as I come back from school and finish my homework, we actually spend the day here with Goten. He's my little brother, you met him earlier."
She turned around to face him and smiled at him "He's really adorable. And your mom is really pretty. You're lucky to have them. Lime is also really nice. I'm glad you found someone that makes you happy."
She was really sad. It hurt to see Gohan move on. But again, she dumped him and called him a liar and she decided to cut him out of her life. He had the right to move on. Their lives weren't connected after all.
He looked at her, not understanding at all her reaction "Thanks. She's a good person. Couldn't ask for a better friend. She's actually the only one I have in the area."
Wait… did he just say friends? Not more?
"When did you meet her?"
She was way too curious. It was going to get the end of her. But she had to know. And she knew he was clueless, so she would get the answers she needed. He picked an apple from a tree and gave it to her "Here, you must be hungry after the long fly. Lime's the grand-daughter of a shop owner in a near village. We became friends seven years ago, before the events of Cell. She was actually the girl I told you about when we were trapped in Himari's closet. She's a nice girl and Goten likes to play with her. But I never thought of her more than a friend, not since these days anyways. So, what are you doing here? I don't think you flew all the way down here to ask me about her."
They were just friends. That's a weight lifted off her shoulders. She felt so relieved that Gohan isn't going out with her. She still might have a chance after all.
She tried the apple and was amazed by its taste. Not only was the scenery breathtaking, but the fruits were actually excellent. Could this place become any better?
All that was missing was Gohan forgiving her.
She took a big breath and looked at him straight in the eyes "I'm sorry. For everything. For calling you a liar. And for yelling at you. I was wrong, I shouldn't have. Can you forgive me?"
He looked at her, very surprised, and smiled "Why the change? What happened? I never heard you apologize for anything."
She tried to smile and looked around her "My, umm, father. He told everything. About the Cell Games, the tricks, his lies. I was wrong and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you a liar every time you did whatever is it that you do."
He blinked at her many times. Was she telling the truth? Did Mr. Satan really admit to his daughter that he lied to her? Waw, that wasn't what he expected.
He scratched the back of his neck, chuckling "Waw, huh. Wasn't what I was expecting. It's okay, Videl. We're cool. You could have waited for school on Monday. You didn't need to fly all the way here to tell me that."
"So you're not mad at me? After everything?"
He chuckled and picked up a rock to throw in the river "No. The whole world believes your dad. I can't blame you for believing him. I would believe anything my father would say."
She smiled at him. She forgot how amazing he was, always caring and gentle, and she felt so bad that she yelled at him so many times "So you're not angry that I called you a liar and a trickster?"
He chuckled and looked at her "You're not the only one. The whole world spit on my father's grave. Everyone believed that. If you didn't, I would have thought there was something wrong with you. No one can believe that we are able to fly without jets or shoot energy beams from our hands. It's too much old school, everyone forgot about them."
She felt the weight of her shoulders come back. She couldn't pay attention to the remaining of his sentence. He was right. They were spitting on his father's grave. If the stories her father told her were true, that means that Gohan's father was the blonde guy who disappeared from the battlefield after Cell told them he was going to explode. And Gohan told her his dad sacrificed himself to save him. Kami she felt bad. So bad that she couldn't stop a tear from falling.
He noticed the tear and looked at her worriedly "Videl? Are you alright? Was it something I said? I didn't mean to make you cry. I'm sorry, please don't cry."
She shook his head and smiled at him "I'm sorry for everything my father said about yours. He didn't have the right."
He mouthed a thank you and looked back at the river.
She looked at him, smiling lightly, and she took a rock to throw in the river "Why didn't you tell me? About the Great Saiyaman. You didn't trust me?"
He took a rock and looked at it then at her, and he smiled at her "I'm sorry. When I first met you, you hated me too much I was afraid you would tell the world about me. Then I knew I was wrong but, you were always followed by paparazzies everywhere, I was afraid someone would know. I only wanted to protect my family's privacy and help the people in need. You already know what the world says about us, I don't want to ruin my mother and brother's lives. And I guess after you lie the first time, it's hard to correct your mistake. You always tried to demask me and I was afraid of what I could say if you discovered the truth. So I asked a friend of mine for help. But I never thought it would go this far. I should have told you the moment we got together but I couldn't. I didn't know what to say and I was afraid you'd call me a freak like everyone else."
She doesn't know what got into her but she felt the need to hug him. And she did.
She felt so bad about this. She should've respected his privacy and let him explain. She felt so dumb "When you put it that way. I'm sorry I was too impulsive. I should've let you explain the situation. But for my defense, you claimed it was a misunderstanding."
He chuckled and scratched the back of his neck "I guess you're right. That one's on me."
They stayed in silence for a while. A peaceful silence. Videl looked at the water and saw Gohan's reflection in it, a smile curving of his lips. He was so innocent, so happy. How could he be this amazing.
"Gohan? Am I forgiven?"
He turned around and faced her, his contagious smile plastered on his face "If you forgive me for lying to you, then of course I can. You did nothing wrong. I should've explained everything."
His contagious smile got to her and she nodded "No more secrets. I want to know everything. I want to know the real you. Everything about you. Even how the hell you know Bulma Briefs."
He chuckled and nodded "Bulma's an old friend of my dad's. And no more secrets. But believe me, there's a lot to take. My life is really complicated."
This time, it was her time to approach him, smile on her face "I wouldn't expect anything less from you."
He smiled at her and she stood next to him, looking at him in his eyes. The same eyes that were the reason behind their fight. The same eyes that showed compassion, love and determination. They were going to be the end of her.
He looked into hers, the light blue eyes that showed determination, fire and a free spirit and he smiled "So, are we good?"
She nodded at him, getting on her tip toes "We're more than good"
And she kissed him. She missed the feeling of his lips on hers. The electric feeling that was created when they touched. She missed his scent of pine trees and nature and the way he smiled at her, like she was the only thing in the world.
And he had miss her fruity scent that reminded him of this clearing that he cherished so much. He used to tell her he loved her fruity scent, and now she knew why. He missed how her small, smooth hand felt against his bigger, rougher one. And the way he would melt every time she smiled, her smile that could solve any problem.
He cupped her head between his hands, feeling the electric tension created between them. She parted her lips lightly, enough for him to enter his tongue and make it swirl with hers. She locked her hands behind his neck, caressing his hair and she could her legs no longer touching the ground and Gohan held her by her waist.
When they both needed air, they parted and Gohan rested his forehead on hers and smiled. She smiled at him and put her hand on his wrist "You're gonna need you watch back Saiyaman. You can't always appear at the Golden Fighter. People might recognize your clothes."
He smiled at her, a genuine smile that showed her his appreciation.
He held his hand and they made their way back to his house.
Once they arrived, they saw Chi-Chi setting the table outside with Lime. The brunette saw them arriving hand in hand, fingers intertwined, and she squealed "You're okay? Kami finally. I swear Gohan, you have more drama in your life than the movies."
The teenagers laughed and looked at each other and the hybrid smiled at his friend "Yeah, we're good. And I guess you're gonna like her. You'll get to know each other better since she'll come here more often so I can teach her how to fly."
She looked at him, stars in her eyes "You can? Can I? I can learn to fly? That's amazing. You're amazing"
She hugged him and he chuckled, hugging her back "Yeah you can. It's pretty easy, don't worry. You can bring me back my sweater once you're at it. I could use it."
She blushed at him and nodded, making everyone laugh.
Eventually, Chi-Chi invited everyone to diner and they all sat and enjoyed the delicious meal the Son mother cooked.
Videl smiled at Gohan, happy to share with him this moment. Seeing him with his family and friends reminded her of how amazing he was. Sure, he has secrets. But then, who hasn't? And what's beautiful when you're in a relationship, is that you have all the time you need to get to know each other better.
And she wanted to know him better. Because she knew he was special. And that she would discover an amazing world because of him. A world no one other than Gohan Son could know.
And he was as ecstatic as her to share these new experiences with her. He knew that his trust wasn't misplaced. He knew that it had been wrong of him to think that she could expose his secret to the whole world. But now that he knew her more, he was more than happy to tell her more about him and his special world.
He knew his trust wasn't misplaced and she knew hers wasn't. Their trust was mutual, and it was all they needed. Because, in the end, if you don't have trust, then you have nothing. And they were determined to have something.
Now, the story's gonna end here. Because you know as much as me how much Erasa and Himari are going to squeal once they'll hear the good news. And I want to protect your ears as much as I want to protect Gohan's. So I'll leave this part to your imagination and end the story on a nice diner under the stars in the 439 Mountain Area. A place were numerous adventures took place, but most of all, a place where family and friends can gather and be happy.
And this is the place that Videl discovered. A place that reminded both she and Gohan that, no matter how many rocks life throw at you, you can always overcome them together.

I'm not used to writing with this spirit, but it's a different take so I thought, why not.
Don't forget to check my other story "We will not repeat the same mistakes" and let me know what you think. There's also the "10 things I love about you" one shot.
I am open to criticism especially if it helps me improve my writing.
