Summary: They said he couldn't be a Hero. That there was no way for him to gain a Quirk. Just like how they never thought that a madman would create a Death Game using a virtual reality machine?
Power Loader was one of the few Heroes caught in the Death Game.
He was also one of the few that didn't use the mirror, but instead trashed the item.
He knew of only two others that refused to use the mirror. They had confided in him who they were and why they were in the game. He learned that they were also the only ones who hadn't used the mirrors. He also took responsibility about keeping up with the girls.
He was known as the player Agil.
Mei Hatsume had stayed in the character of Lizbeth throughout the two years as she didn't want anyone to talk about her age. By the time that she knew about other players her age she felt like it wasn't worth trying to change. She spoke to Agil as Lizbeth often, forming a mentor and student relationship.
Argo was distinctive. If she changed before everyone had a chance to figure who was who at the beginning of the Death Game, then no one would approach her. If no one approached her, then she lost money. If she lost money, then she lost info.
So, Ochako Uraraka did not use the mirror and worked with other players as an information broker.
They had all had a significant amount of time around ((The Green Dragon Hero)) that had the Username: ((Drakon)).
Of course that meant that they would be interrogated/questioned as soon as they woke up.
Power Loader knew as soon as the PHSA member started focusing on the child that things were about to change. He grinned as the PHSA member started talking about getting someone to be a Quirk Counselor for the child and discussing their plans for having a psychologist work with him. The PHSA talked about having a Hero they knew working with him instead of Nezu.
He came up with an idea on the spot once he gained an idea of what he was working with. On the inside he was grinning like crazy. Especially when the man started to rant about the child he had come to know as a Hero being formerly Quirkless. The ramifications of him gaining a Quirk made the PHSA fear what they couldn't control. He could tell from the mans voice.
Very few people knew who he was in the game. As a teacher, as a Hero, as a mentor, as a friend, as a merchant, and as a fellow Clearer, he knew Izuku Midoriya and watched him grow into someone he could call a Hero. He also knew just how smart he was as the child was able to figure out who he was just through the small body language and few comments that matched with his Hero career.
Inwardly he laughed as he talked to the PHSA members and told them how it might be best if Izuku trained his Quirk with Ryuko. Without his gear they could see a wide grin and a twinkle in his eyes as he mentioned the possibility of him learning under EraserHead. The man sneered at the suggestion and said that he would talk to Ryuko about the boy.
He chuckled as he watched the man walk out of the hospital bed with a grin. The PHSA member had taken the bait, hook, line and sinker. Of course, he could already hear a whiny preteen yelling that he wasn't a real dragon and that he didn't have a treasure hoard of daggers to accompany his Familiars. Only Izuku would be able to figure out that someone he knew was watching out for him. After all, not many people knew that the child wanted to meet her after learning so much about dragons. He would have to tell the girls about the trouble the boy had gotten into.
The player with the Username: ((Kirito)) calmly watched the woman in front of him as she sat down a manila folder alongside a small notepad on the small counter space for the doctors area of his hospital room. A man in a trench coat and hat smiled at the teen before placing a water down in front of him on his cafeteria tray and sat softly on the chair on the right of the woman with a small cup of hot coffee with steam rising out of it in the corner.
"You are here today to answer questions about the User named: ((Drakon)) and for us to find the relation between himself and the mastermi-" The stern lady was cut off by the man. Her back straightened and she scowled.
"I'm Detective Naomosa. We're here to learn about ((Drakon)) and ((Heathcliff))'s relations and to learn more about ((Drakon)) who doesn't wish to give answers." He placed his hat down and ignored the woman's protests at his words. "It's been a few days since I've talked with ((Drakon)). We've talked to each other about a lot of things, but he loves to talk about you. How has your Quirk labeled as Archive been dealing with leaving the game? Nothing too bad right? Just a few headaches?" The flat expression on the mans face had a small, almost unnoticeable corner lifted as their eyes met.
"Excuse me Detective, but what are you doing? This is my discussion." Her scowl deepened.
"Sorry. It's just that I feel like I am much more familiar..." The detective stretched out the word. "... to this case than you are. Please. Just let me speak and you can write your notes down." The detective placed what Kazuto Kirigaya now recognized as gloved hands on his cup and sipped.
"Very well." A short nod of the females head was enough for the detective to turn his head to Kazuto.
"Would you prefer me to call you ((Kirito or Kazuto))?"
"I would prefer Kazuto. I would like to hear my real name please."
"I can do that. What about your headaches? Have you been able to keep the data you learned from the game with the reintroduction of your Quirk? By the way, my Quirk allows me to know the truth so please be truthful."
Kazuto nodded. "I have had headaches, but they were manageable. I'm not sure about my Quirk. I still remember main things in the game, but I think it will take time for me to get used to having my Quirk again before I can tell you how accurate the data is. Is there anything specific you want to know?"
Naomosa chuckled. "Just simple questions. Was their any interaction between ((Heathcliff)) and ((Drakon))?
How did the two interact?"
Kazuto started to chuckle after a moment. Then he laughed. It took five minutes for the teen to stop and wipe the tears from his eyes as realization struck. "You guys haven't talked to almost anyone have you? No wonder Izuku blew you guys off. Let me guess...someone thought they could walk all over him for answers and he sassed you until someone left the room. Then he started to talk when there was someone who was listening and not accusing him of working for Kayaba Akihiko."
The woman grit her teeth in frustration.
Naomosa lifted an eyebrow. A small curve at the edge of his lips threatened to turn into a smile. "You would be correct. He also thought you had quite an opinion on him."
Kirito leaned into his cold pillow and sighed. "That kid...You said you've talked with him before? Even multiple times?"
The detective nodded. "He told us a lot, but not in any detail. What would you think about ((Drakon)) having his abilities from the game in the real world?"
"You're avoiding your main question. Let me keep it simple for the lady to put in her notes. He avoided the man like the plague. Especially since he kept annoying him with Guild Invites."
The woman spoke up from her notepad. "Could you elaborate on that please."
"He hated ((Heathcliff)) as soon as he laid eyes on him. His Familiars tried to attack him on sight without their masters consent. Heck. the only reason he showed up to Boss Raid meeting was to see if they were dragons to slay and went to Guild Meetings only if he was invited by myself or Asuna. Anyone else asked him to do go to those meetings and he wouldn't come. The only real interaction I can think of was him telling ((Heathcliff)) to...politely...back off from recruiting him into any Guild."
Kazuto took on a thinking position and frowned. "I also have the theory that ((Heathcliff)) refused to challenge ((Drakon)) to a Duel to become a member of his Guild, unlike me, because of not only age difference and familiars, but because of how he fought would force him to reveal his cards early."
Naomosa nodded. "That's quite a bit of information that we didn't get from him. What about my second question?"
Kazuto chuckled. "Sign me up for his Hero Agency Secretary please. That, or his IT Specialist. Especially if those dragons come with him. Tell me detective..." A wide grin spread upon the teens face. "Do you know anyone that can drop daily surprises on you that are completely out of the normal to the point that normal is weird?"
"I do know someone like that. What sort of things were abnormal that ((Drakon)) did?" Kazuto could see amusement in the detectives eyes.
"Did you know that out of those that survived the game, that very few were able to get a Skill fully leveled and that once you switch it with something else that it stops the growth? One of the main things about Skills is that people only select a few to upgrade at a time. They also almost never switch them out." Kazuto snickered.
The woman put down her writing tool. "If that's true then why are you laughing?"
Kazuto looked at her. "((Drakon)) almost never stopped moving in one way or another. If he couldn't fight to upgrade Skills, then he would work on Skills that didn't require fighting. Heck, I'm pretty sure that the Cardinal System had to develop Skills for the kid. He experimented with it all the time. I could swear he had a bow of some kind before the end. I mean for most of us with Quirks it was seen as just as an enhancement, but for those without Quirks, like Asuna, It was amazing to grasp that feeling of power. To improve oneself. That kid never stopped though."
A nervous look crossed over the woman. "What exactly...are you trying to say Mr. Kirigaya?"
"I only have assumptions on what you all are telling me. There's a big difference between if he only has access to the Main Skill Set he uses for battles and if he has access to the Skills he has on what he calls his Reserve List. That's not counting what he hasn't shown me."
"Kazuto. Can we get back to the abnormal things you were talking about?" Naomosa cut in before the topic deviated further.
"You mean how he decided to trap a humanoid monster, had his Familiars attack one at a time only to heal it and continue until he grew bored just to see if he could stack status effects? There was also that one time that he burst that flower of a Nepenthe using a ranged item from a tree limb and letting his flying Familiars to dive bomb the things to get experience? Oh wait..." His grin grew wider as he noticed the woman paling. His smile turned vicious. "Maybe you want to know how he got around the Duel Command of the Cardinal System, crossed a tiny dagger against a long sword, parried it, kicked the creator of the game in the middle of his shield and jumped away, trapped him with a dozen or so Familiars, and let both Asuna and I stab the madman through the heart to defeat the game? Even with all of that evidence, I'm certain that you will try and do something to the kid. So I'll say it now."
The atmosphere in the room got tense. "You better treat the kid right. You think what I said was scary? I haven't even described his natural analytical abilities from when he was Quirkless. Just ask to read one of those journals of his. His journals in the game save hundreds, if not thousands of us. You don't want to turn him into a Villain. Not him." The teen whispered his words in the room. Both of the adults could hear the warning that the teen didn't say. You don't want to know what will happen if he was a Villain.
Izuku Midoriya grinned in satisfaction when a white tab with grey bold letters popped up on his left in a holographic like display. He laid on his All Might themed bed after his third chat with the detective Naomosa. On his right was a similar designed tab.
He frowned as he opened up a box saying Messages. A blood red envelope sat alone in the Message Box. After a moment the teen tapped it and felt a small vibration run along the tip of his finger as it opened.
TO: ((Drakon))
From:GM
Izuku Midoriya. I have many regrets. Giving you this Quirk is not one of them.
This game was meant to be my legacy. Something great for all of humanity. A mark into the next era of advanced technology beyond the capacities of Quirks.
I failed. More than you can ever know. The only thing I was able to do was create a loophole to have myself killed in the game to release those within.
I cannot say my whole story even now as the Quirk is still connected to my Cardinal System. I have written thise message more times than you know. Multiple Quirks were used to create the game. Many more to constrict its purpose.
Many believe that the Death Game was only of my own making. They would be wrong. I had my fair share of help.
However, I must be brief. Your Quirk is special. Think of Aincrad as a Tutorial for things to come. I have given you gifts to help you.
You are smarter than people give you credit for ((Drakon)).
I beg of you to continue being a Hero.
Above all else remember the saying of the Musketeers and use that hobby of yours the ((Black Swordsman)) and the ((Lightning Flash)) discussed in that heated discussion of ours.
I am not the only Final Boss.
Farewell ((Green Dragon Hero)),
Kayaba Akihiko
The message shattered into pixelated cubes of multicolored light leaving a stunned Izuku.
Slowly the boy got out of his bed in a daze. That topic was why Guilds continuously tried to coerce him into their ranks. His analysis.
The boy sat at his desk and scratched into an old journal the words Musketeer and Quirks. The teen leaned back into his chair. He scribbled out key points in the message.
Then he read over his notes and dropped the pencil he used to write with. It made more than enough sense to Izuku. He powered his computer on.
Izuku Midoriya acknowledged Kayaba Akihiko's acknowledgement of him being smart. The discussion was not just upon analysis, but also research. To his growing horror Izuku saw the pattern because of the previous discussions with the authorities.
There upon the screen was a public file about the man showing off his Quirk six years after he should have gained it.
